Gruden Brothers Very Confident In A Bears Victory

November 7th, 2026

Jon Gruden typically can’t help himself when it comes to picking the winner of a game involving his beloved Buccaneers.

Chucky nearly always picks Tampa Bay. However, that’s not the case week.

Speaking on The Gruden Family Football Show, Gruden emphasized he hopes the Bucs win Sunday night in Chicago, but he doesn’t see it. The Super Bowl-winning Bucs head coach says the Chicago offensive line is on par with the Bucs’ bruising bunch and he loves how both lines move bodies. Tampa Bay’s run game ranks No. 1 in the NFL in total yards; Chicago is No. 2.

Gruden, though, like most Bucs fans, is deeply concerned about the Bucs’ passing game. He talked about how the pass game was poor before Baker Mayfield got hurt. Gruden sees Bears stud QB Caleb Williams as the major difference-maker in this game. And he is not predicting a nail-biter.

Bears win, says Gruden, whose brother Jay agreed.

Jay Gruden, the former QB and NFL head coach, says he believes both teams have elite blocking from receivers and are a complete rushing attackBut Jay Gruden is highly suspect of the Bucs’ win-without-throwing formula of the past two weeks.

“That can’t last. There’s no way,” Jay Gruden said, before picking Chicago to cruise to its seventh victory this season.

Good , we will win when everyone is picking against us.

  2. Simple T Says:

Fu&k Chuck. Not exactly known for his predictions.

  3. unbelievable Says:

They’re just saying what everybody else already knows. Unless a huge thunderstorm magically appears, the Bucs will not be able to just rush on every snap and win.

  4. Gipper Says:

Gruden is angling for a return to Tampa.

Does anyone remember this from a few months back? We’re getting close to all the “ifs” working out

    ———————————————————————————-

Joe was listening to a recent edition of Kevin Clark’s “This is Football” podcast. There, he said, when trying to make a case for a team being really good in a season preview, if you have to use three or more “ifs” to make your pitch, you’re in trouble.

Joe sees (at least) three “ifs” on the defense alone.

If Bain is all that, if Trotter is all that, if Scott is all that, if Zyon McCollum isn’t bored, if Benjamin Morrison is healthy and the biggest if of them all: If KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles has his first drafted-and-developed double-digit sacks edge rusher (Bain).

Funny how Bakers last good win, October against the 49ers as Joe cites frequently recently, is also the Bucs last win over a superior QB/coach combo.

Almost like Bowles can’t beat good teams unless he gets good offensive play and specifically good QB play. Obviously this isn’t exclusive to Todd as many coaches fail with poor QB play. That leads me to…

A ringer article recently (ball knowers notebook I believe) that talks about the “Glenn zone”. Defensive head coaches that rely on a good offense to win games. Not a groundbreaking subject as we have talked about that issue for years here with Bowles now but it’s an interesting take and the correct one imo.

Make no mistake, we are losing the coach and QB battle this week unless Baker finds his best form outta the blue. Is the talent on the Bucs enough to overcome? It’s possible. D needs to keep performing at the level it has and offense needs to protect the ball and chew time. 2-3 big mistakes resulting in 10 pt or more swing and that’s a wrap.

Two loser ex coaches. They couldn’t coach their way back into the nfl

  8. ProffeserVonBrainStorm Says:

Good to hear from smart football men that use their brains instead of grabbing the Pom Poms.

    42-10 Bears in a blowout.

Todd gets a raise and an extension.

Floormatt, Gipper, and the rest of the regression crew fall deeper into madness.

Just wait until after the bye! Todd dials up another 4 game losing streak!!!

  9. Jwg813 Says:

We play best when not getting praise from everyone. Keep it up. GO BUCS!!!!!!

  10. FLBoyInDallas Says:

    Agree with the Grudens.

The Bucs beat two basement-dwelling NFC South dumpster teams and now some fans have suddenly forgotten who we are as an organization.

    How quickly people forget.

Bears by at least ten points.

  11. Oldbucsfan Says:

Jesus Christ! Why don’t we just go ahead and forfeit the game already! Since we don’t have a chance, why even play, just fkn stay home! Sick of hearing all this sh!t already from the entire world!

  12. FLBoyInDallas Says:

The Bucs beat two NFC South teams. The worst division in football.

Now some fans have suddenly forgotten where we stand compared to the rest of the league.

How quickly people forget. But some of us remember.

Bears by at least ten points.

    “Jimminy christmas, what an upset!”
