Jordan Whitehead Placed On Injured Reserve

November 30th, 2024

Out until late-December.

So this much we know as a result of this transaction the Bucs made on the afternoon of Black Friday.

Safety Jordan Whitehead was placed on injured reserve, which means he will miss at least four games.

Whitehead blew out a pec muscle Sunday in New Jersey. It’s a very painful injury and pretty much renders a player with just one wing.

MRI results came back and revealed Whitehead did not have a torn pec and thus would not need surgery. At the time, Whitehead was said to miss “some time” to heal enough to play.

Talk about a friggin’ warrior!

Joe asked Todd Bowles this week if he had a guesstimate how much time Whitehead would miss. Bowles didn’t know but believed it would be multiple games.

Now we know.

When a player goes on injured reserve, he must sit out a minimum of four games. So Whitehead won’t be eligible to return until the Bucs host the Stinking Panthers on Dec. 29, the second-last game of the regular season. And that’s only if he’s healthy.

It’s around a six week injury so yah makes sense.

Wow, didn’t see an IR coming. Was thinking without a needed surgery Jordan would only be out one or two more games. Hope he heals adequately for next season.

    Ouch!

Although, I’m not surprised. Watching him run off the field as soon as the play was over, it was obvious something was seriously wrong.

I don’t mean this as a knock against Jordan, but he hasn’t been playing with the same intensity and ferocity that he played with during his first stint here.

I was hoping that bringing Mike Edwards back and the trio of Mike, Jordan and Antione would be the spark that ignited Jordan to up his game just a bit.

If there’ any good news in this, it’s that both he and the team will have to cool their jets for four weeks now and give that injury some time to heal. Ideally he’ll be ready to go, but if not, it’s till better than trying to rush him back onto the field.

I don’t think they bring him back next year at that price

  5. heyjude Says:

Agree with everyone. Hope to see something with Edwards and Jordan heals sufficiently to play well next season. Unfortunately, Beeej is probably correct. The Bucs may not bring him back.

bring him back for cheap. better than ryan neal

    With and incentive laden deal….

  8. Scott Says:

Whitehead was actually our best safety this year. That is not saying much. Safety play this year has been in bottom half of the league.

  9. Bill Kilmer Says:

That is an interesting statement above. Whitehead has been the best safty this year?. I don’t know , but if so that is pretty poor. I agree for whatever reason all too often the safeties have been nowhere around the ball and when they are they have missed a boat load of tackles. Yes, has really been disappointing year Winfield has had thus far. I sure hope that changes. I am also thinking we may not be losing anything and maybe gaining with Edwards taking Whitehead’s place. Let’s hope Edwards plays better than Whitehead and Winfield wakes up from his long season nap. Then perhaps the safty play will rise above the bottom half of the league

Damn I hate reading that Buc Luck got Whitehead. One of my favorite players before he took off for $$greener$$ pastures. He has his SB ring from the Bucs. Mike Edwards will help.

When we sign a punter can we get one that can rush the passer, too? 🙄🤡
