“This Is A Loosey, Goosey Bunch”

A Bucs coach speaks out

Joe is smiling while thinking of the historic swagger the rock star Bucs will bring next season — hopefully in a normalized world — with a head coach who lets players be themselves and embraces media fun.

Bucco Bruce Arians doesn’t allow music at practice, but he’s all for letting his players make noise as long as long as they’re producing.

The Bucs are all about high-energy and an attack-dog mentality now, per quarterbacks coach Clyde Christensen. The longtime Arians’ confidant told The Pat McAfee Show that the Bucs collectively had adopted Arians’ “No Risk It — No Biscuit” approach.

“We only have one speed. We just go. I think [Tom] Brady’s kind adopted it, you know,” Christensen continued. “Brady’s been more of a by-the-numbers, let’s play football the proper way [guy]. And all of sudden now, you know, we’re on two-minute drives when maybe you should be sitting on it.

“This is a loosey, goosey bunch and we go hard and play hard. And I think that’s a direct reflection of B.A.”

Christensen explained he admits to trying to rein in his boss. “Sometimes I’m trying to yank his foot off of the pedal,” he said of Arians. “‘Let’s run it. Let’s run some more clock.’ … He’s the same on the golf course. He’s going to birdie or triple [bogey].”

Can next season get here already? Joe is fired up!

When the Bucs head to Foxborough to play the Patriots, hopefully in Week 2, Joe would love to see Arians plan to let Brady run up the score on the Belicheats.

  1. August 1976 Buc Says:

The attitude of BA with the players reminds me very much of Al Davis & John Madden of the Raiders in the late 60’s and 70’s. But without all the extra curricula, and borderline dirty stuff that were hall marks of the Raiders of that era. This team is only going to get better. Now we get to see who the next set of ring chasers are. Fun times for this team, but also a Reality Check about life and what is really important. RIP VJAX you helped so many people brother, good to see someone who was not just about himself. lol.

  2. Bucsfanman Says:

I think BA doesn’t get enough credit for what he’s done for the team. Look at the team two years ago; the culture, the attitude, even the players. Dig deeper. Arians was brought here to change the culture.
Ya think this might be a fun team to be a part of?

Can you see another Chucky in the Superbowl game??? Brady will know alot of Belicheat’s tendencies. They’ll be another stick it to em game along with our South games

  4. Bird Says:

Dont leave a minute or two right before half
    Most teams run out clock.
Some teams try for a long field goal

The bucs are looking for tds

We play the Pats next year Joe? I was wondering… Now, just imagine if BB signs JW to be his QB?! I could see that happening. Maybe. How cool would that be?!

  6. SB~LV Says:

Certainly a special year and never duplicated, next year will be completely different

  7. Bruce Blahak Says:

Can’t knock success but it drives me crazy when they setup in an empty backfield on 2nd and 2. Hopefully they ride the line more and run more in 2021. Clock management at the end of some games was non existent. Games where it was basically over, they’re throwing downfield!

  8. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

I hope the loosey, goosey style doesn’t wear on the veterans. I get how it maybe a nice change but there is still a lot of prep that goes into these games. As proven in SB, KC took Bucs to lightly and let a already nasty D smell blood. KC was not prepared for the ass kicking they got.

As far as Pat’s next year, if anyone knows Brady’s weaknesses BB & McDaniels do. It will be interesting both BB and TB12 , AB & Gronk have something to prove. (Obviously if all are still on Bucs). Unless Patriots sign Wilson, Mahomes, Roger’s or Watson, they have no chance beating Bucs if D stays in tact. Wonder what the TV ratings for that game will be?

the pats will give the bucs everything they can handle. most of their best defensive players opted out last year, so they are getting back fresh bodies and rolling over some serious cap room. their QB situation is almost certain to be better, the fact that they signed Cam late and coming off an injury marred two seasons tells me they were fine to sacrifice last year in favor of a fast restocking of the roster
