With The 13th Pick In The 2013 NFL Draft

December 2nd, 2019

“Jason, either spend money on defense of use the draft capital.”

Yes!!

Our beloved Bucs victory yesterday only cost them one spot in the current 2020 NFL Draft order.

Anyone up for cornerback Kristian Fulton out of LSU?

It’s far too early to talk draft picks, but it’s not too early to see where the Bucs might land in the NFL’s version of Christmas in April.

If the season ended today, Tampa Bay would have pick No. 13 in the 2020 NFL Draft.

See the current draft-order chart from Sporting News below:

Will the Bucs find their way to the No. 8 pick? Will they land at No. 20, making for incredible drama at Joe’s draft party. (For those wondering, the 2020 party location is all locked down and this will be a unique and special night of fun.)

Last year, teams that finished 7-9 grabbed the Nos. 13 through 16 picks in the draft.

Pick No. Team Record
1. Cincinnati Bengals 1-11
2. New York Giants 2-10
3. Washington Redskins 3-9
4. Miami Dolphins 3-9
5. Atlanta Falcons 3-9
6. Detroit Lions 3-8-1
7. Arizona Cardinals 3-8-1
8. Jacksonville Jaguars 4-8
9. New York Jets 4-8
10. Los Angeles Chargers 4-8
11. Denver Broncos 4-8
12. Philadelphia Eagles 5-7
13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 5-7
14. Carolina Panthers 5-7
15. Cleveland Browns 5-7
16. Oakland Raiders 6-6
17. Indianapolis Colts 6-6
18. Oakland Raiders (via 6-6 Bears)
19. Tennessee Titans 7-5
20. Jacksonville Jaguars (via 7-5 Rams)

13th pick in 2013 was Sheldon Richardson by the Jets. What do I win?

“The demise of the 5 year Forrest reign

Is and has been the offensive line after the retirement of LEADER Logan Mankins

JW has not taken the next step

BA/Bl Twins cant use OJ correctly because he is stuck blocking to help the turnstiles

Now ROJO is benched trying to block what DSmith is paid to do

There are 25 young running backs being effective and productive each week

    All 25 are great blockers?

Playcalling run on 1st and 2nd down and trying to block a full out blitz is the fault of the QB Coach intern

We need to finally fix the oline and get the ball out”

  5. Jason Says:

Lol. Don’t worry Joe, I too had “A little bit of the bubbly” last night.

  6. Jameis Almighty! Says:

Vita Vea needs to play both sides of the ball. The Bucs really need to put an emphasis on a blocking running back.

  7. zzbuc Says:

Joe please I beg you no more corners anmore!!!! We need guys on ythe OL and DL, no more corners………

  8. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

With the 20th piuck of the 2020 draft the Bucs select Andrew Thomas OT from Georgia.

  9. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

We need a big nasty Tackle, IMHO

And Joe, now you are pining for a CB…..last year it was DE…..I guess our DE problem is fixed. Where exactly is Joe pining?? C’mon, dude. Don’t invent things. –Joe

We need to draft player who will start & save us money….

Let’s replace Demar Dotson & either JPP, Suh or Nassib….(keep Shaq) with draft picks…..
Get another corner in round 3 or 4 to replace MJ Stewart if you like.

  13. StonedBuc Says:

A little bit of the bubbly! Hopefully we draft trenches first 2-3 rds.

  14. SammyRebel Says:

Every year I’ve said for the Bucs to keep losing for good draft picks but looking back at that I don’t really care about that these young Bucs need to learn how to win so calling this win streak meaningless is an over statement if we go 9-7 sign 2-3 good solid starting free agents and draft well with whatever picks we land with I will be a happy Bucs fab can only go up from here

  15. DayOnePaul Says:

Thomas will be long gone by the middle of the round, and with the league wide premium on OLmen, Jackson will be too. Trade up if you’re still in love with them six months from now, or take your right tackle in the middle rounds and deal with Donovan’s shortcomings for another four years.

  16. Bruce Blahak Says:

    Right Tackle, DL…

  17. SCBucsFan Says:

Don’t worry Joe, plenty of time for the team to go on a 4 game losing streak and get that pick you desire.

  18. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

  19. Easy Says:

We need an Offensive Tackle or a pass rusher. It really sucks I’m already looking forward to the draft.

  20. SoCoBucsFan Says:

I’ve always been an active believer in drafting at least one offensive and defensive lineman within the first three maybe four rounds of the draft. Unless a stud at another position is available at one of those picks.

The game is won and loss in the trenches. Plus you can’t expect to keep everyone for their entire career.

Also even if you’re lucky enough to find studs each year for the first five years, having quality backups for cheap can’t be the worse idea. I think it’s easier to find studs in Skill positions later in the draft than lineman.

  22. alaskabuc Says:

Our first pick needs to be a tackle. Dot and 76 both need replacing

  23. tmaxcon Says:

joe why are you setting yourself up for another nutpunch… bucs can’t draft you know that beyond a reasonable doubt so why set yourself up…. they will draft some small school bongo playing tackle to help that backup ukulele playing bum marpet complete his tropical white guy band

  24. jjbucfan Says:

LT, RT if D Smith isn’t willing to move and we can trade him. Then Dline, RB, S, CB in no particular order. Can also go Center late, need Jensens replacement for future.

who is going to trade for buccaneer overpaid garbage… really please tell me who is going to give up a VALUABLE pick for a lazy, soft overpaid Offensive lineman… Again, please help me understand how you can think a gm will pull that trigger….

only player on bucs roster that is tradable pal is godwin simple as that the vets are all on bad deals and the rest of the young guys are worthless…

again, i really would like to hear the rationale behind this… no sane gm is giving anything up for 98% of this roster….

  29. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    TM

Yup – Najee Harris would be a nice pick-up as well

  30. SOEbuc Says:

DT Javon Kinlaw (South Carolina). 6’6″ 310 lbs freak athlete that can play all over the 3-4.

  31. JimbobBucsFan Says:

I have commented elsewhere that it is too early to be talking the draft and the off season. Now I will contradict myself as the rest of you obviously see things another way. I will weigh in here also.

New England has shown the best example of how to retool from year to year when you have late round draft picks all of the time. This is where the Buccaneers need to be in the future.

With our upcoming mid round draft picks next year we should be focusing on the trenches during our first three rounds. We should find the best available tackles on both sides of the ball this time. We should fill in other holes in the rest of our draft.

  32. Sleepy903 Says:

You take the top D-linemen/OT in that range. I have a feeling William and Nassib wont be here next year. Demar will hopefully be depth next year. Otherwise we failed in the draft.

  33. EEK Says:

QB please — trade down and get a late first rounder?

It seems there may be an abundance of QB talent in the draft

  34. LUVMYBUCS Says:

you must be a new bucfan. Welcome…. dude, it’s never too early to talk draft or off-season when you are a bucfan… real bucfans realize and accept the season is over a week after the draft almost every year….

    • OT SAMUEL COSMI | HEIGHT: 6’7″ | WEIGHT: 310 lbs

Im a Longhorn fan and Sam Cosmi is to much of a prospect. But Walker Little could start day one at RT and could possibly send Donovan to the Right side of the line.

Id prefer Kinlaw/Derrick Brown the first round. Walker little in the second. If Chuba Hubbard falls to the 3rd round you draft him with no hesitation.

  37. Todd Says:

Sloof Lirpa is a little known GIANT of Junior left offensive tackle (towers 6’10” at 435 pounds yet runs a 5.1 40-yard dash) out of Fornicordia State down in SW Texas)…Jason Licht has been trying to keep him under wraps as he has not even made The Draft Network’s list of draftable tackles.

    YouTube him.

    An astonishing athletic specimen.

White (if he can stay healthy) appears to be the real deal, teams up well with David. I am not on board with another high RD DB. Maybe 3rd or 4th RD. I like Edwards, Dean, Davis, Whitehead, Stewart with another year under their belts. These are kids that have speed, size, and potential. Let them develop. Work on trenches and RB’s. (Dobbins, Taylor)

  41. Hodad Says:

We need to get older in the secondary, not younger. We have a bigger need at right tackle, and D end. Sign a Vet CB to play with our youngsters, not another baby. Trenches, big men, we have more need for.

  42. Brandon Says:

Stop pining for CBs, please. We have three on our roster currently that are playing great and have tons of upside. We need RT, DL, and RB.

he is a beast… gladly take him… bucs are stuck with d smith and marpet unfortunately but that oline really needs a makeover next year not just starters backups as well.

one joe lives in denial over the oline like he is protecting his kids. but make no mistake about it the entire room needs a make over

  44. pick6 Says:

this team needs young athletes on the edge of the trenches on both sides. in my mind either tackle spot or a young rush end would be the priority. I can’t imagine this team investing another high draft pick in the secondary, MLB corps, pass-catching group given the recent investment of high picks or salary in those groups

  45. 813bucboi Says:

I don’t pay for my season tickets and buy 9 dollar beers for next years draft. YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!!!! HELLO. I don’t give any F’s about next year’s draft. You could have the first pick in the draft and if he blows out his knee in camp. Until week 17 or being mathematically eliminated draft talk is stupid.

    H8JWLVEBUCS Says:
I dont want the Bucs to be losers, but live to fight another season gee wizz. Dont they get it winning fruitless games is really screwing us in the draft

That’s a losing culture mentality. You CANNOT expect the team to change its culture if you want it to play for the draft instead of playing to win.

  49. firethecannons Says:

No to any more drafted cornerback in top rounds. We need right tackle that is worth a damn.

  50. Buc Wild Says:

DO NOT draft another CB. We have too many young CBs as it is. We need to sign Byron Jones or Chris Harris Jr. and sign HaHa Clinton Dix. That will fix the biggest problem we have as a team. Use that pick to replace Demar Dotson, focus on re-signing the entire DL.

  51. Bucsfan1988 Says:

    Ok, my thoughts…

Replace Suh w 1sr rounder Derrick Brown, total stud!
Him next to Vea, we’d be rockin!!

    2nd Round – Gotta go o-line here…No brainer!
The best tackle you can find!!

    3rd round – DE
    3rd round (compensatory) – RB

    4th round – Back to O-line!! Replacement center ??

Need to snag a veteran F/A corner!!

I’m still hoping Justin Evans comes back healthy next year.
Really want to see him play in this defense!!

    Ok, I’m out!

  52. Bruce Says:

    We fill finish 8-8.

  53. Craig Says:

Right tackle for the o-line. There are a bunch to choose from but Jawaan Taylor would work.

Another )-line in round 2 and a QB in round three. A safety after that and another QB.

At the end of the line grab another running back.

  58. SKBucsfan Says:

Don’t worry folks. Licht probably has his eyes on a punter with the first pick.

  59. MadMax Says:

    Yo LUV, Sup brotha!!!!

Man, back to working 12’s sucks. And yeah, D Brown would be awesome especially if we cant afford to bring Suh back…..he’s prolly going top 10 though. Simmons, the SS/LB hybrid could fall to us 12-16 and I would love that one too….our version of Derwin James!

Whats your take on that Louisville Beast OT Mechi Becton….maybe falls to the 2nd round at our spot, can play both LT and RT, start him out at RT though IMO. Alright, 4am rolls around early, be back tomorrow night.

I’m pretty sure they’re are going to use any spare money to buy out your boy Licht’s contract and cancel his Palma Ceia membership.
