Perriman Time

December 12th, 2019

Evolving.

It stinks that Bucs’ star receiver Mike Evans may be out for the season.

Several reports claim he is done, but the Bucs have yet to place him on injured reserve. That leaves the door cracked open for him to play again, though what’s the point?

Of course, it is natural to believe Chris Godwin would pick up the slack since he is second in the NFL in receiving yards with 1,212. But Joe isn’t so sure of that. Godwin is likely going to be a target himself of defenses. Since they don’t have to worry about Evans any longer, one would think Godwin will all but be taken out of games.

If that is the case, if you look at trends, Breshad Perriman might benefit, as smart Evan Silva of EstablishTheRun.com points out.

@evansilva: Expecting Breshad Perriman to be out on the field for nearly every snap this week vs #Lions. Ran season-high 50 routes in Week 14; has 201 receiving yards & TD on 12 targets over last 3 games.

Joe spoke with Perriman about this yesterday and asked if he believes he is under more pressure to perform with Evans out.

“Not really,” Perriman said. “I’m not looking at it as a challenge. Looking at it as an opportunity. A blessing. You can’t look at it like that. You have to treat it like another game. You can’t put too much pressure on yourself.”

Perriman had a rotten start to the season but he has come around the past four games, which included his game-winning touchdown catch last week against the Colts.

“It is just clicking,” Perriman said in response to why he has turned the corner the past month or so. “Everything just started clicking. Me, Jameis, everything started flowing.”

That flow will need to continue in Detroit for the Bucs to pull out a road win.

We may be w/o Evans, but hopefully we will discover OJ Howard.
Detroit isn’t a very good team this year, especially w/o Matt Stafford.
    We should beat them easily.

watson and perriman will show BA why they deserve to be on the roster next year….

Can’t help but fee Watson is seen more as a replacement for evans or godwin going down which is why it was miller and bobo earlier when perriman was out. Hope so.. I liked what I saw last game. Watson made some pretty tough catches.. some he really had to a coop and another where he got creamed and held on

Coburn that’s what good receivers do, catch despite the hit.
My favorite quote from Adam Humphries- “you’re gonna get hit either way, it hurts a lot less when you catch the ball.”

I would love to see Evans back on the field helping us destroy the Falcons. Them are the kind of warriors I want on my team.

Make no mistake. Mike is a warrior reguardless. He’s already prooved that and has noticably played though pain before. He’s proven to be one of the most dependable receivers in the game in terms of availability.

It freaking made my day to see that guy run through a ripped ligiment to make a touchdown for this team.

I can be critical of Mike at times but I will never question the guys attitude & heart. He is truely a rare breed at a position where you find more divas then not. Mucho respect.

I’ve already got him on my FanDuel team. Cheap asf too!

I just hope Jameis doesn’t try to force any throws to Perriman into the same kind of tight windows that he does with Godwin.

I love that Perriman has been coming on strong the past few weeks, but I still do not trust his hands and toughness to fight through traffic the way Godwin does. Not at all.

just give him some stick-um and send him out there!!!!!

A little hidden benefit if Perriman has a strong finish is the perception of this team.

There’s gonna be free agents out there next year looking for a team that can get them on the field making plays. A team that can help them make some money.

Think again if you don’t think other players see what Bowles did for Shaq Barrett. That dude went from a JAG to now a ProBowler.

This is one resaon why I wanted Perriman to stay when a few others wanted him cut for a sixth round rookie. If Perriman catches fire it’ll turn more heads. It will help make Tampa Bay place players want to play……and not just play…….but shine.

This was something I noticed in the off-season. When we hired Bruce I checked out a few Arizona message boards and guess what? Bruce and his staff turned a few JAGs into good players in Arizona. Very pleased to see that trend continuing here.

    GO Perriman!!!

    GO BUCS!!!
