Sleeping In Meetings

December 28th, 2018

Fined.

It appears Bucs malcontent wide receiver DeSean Jackson was a bit more of a disruptive force on the practice fields and the locker room of One Buc Palace than he ever was against an opposing defense while with the Bucs.

Jackson has twice in the past two months made it public (or at least his paid representatives have texted the right people working for the proper networks) that he wants the hell out of Tampa Bay.

Given that Jackson has a bum Achilles he suffered at Dallas last week and that he is still dealing with a bad thumb that has been nagging him for weeks, and that Jackson has yet to practice this week, Joe is fairly confident Jackson has already played his last game with the Bucs as the season’s final game is Sunday.

The Bucs can wash their hands of Jackson this offseason with no financial penalty.

Just before Christmas, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times wrote a piece that detailed the angst-filled days of Jackson with the Bucs. The article didn’t exactly portray Jackson as a warm and embracing teammate, despite what Bucs Bit-O-Honey-snacking, Ozark-watching, yams-eating coach Dirk Koetter professes publicly.

Stroud offered some examples of Jackson’s stunts with the Bucs last season.

Interviews with coaches and players confirm that Jackson was fined extensively for being late to meetings and sometimes fell asleep in them. He rarely took notes.

It got worse in the final months. Jackson refused to play catch with one of his coaches one day before practice and was told to sit out.

Just before Christmas last year, he played cards in the locker room with his former Washington teammate, defensive tackle Chris Baker, and was late to a meeting. When told he would be fined again, Jackson erupted and kicked over a display Bucs receivers were using for a secret Santa gift exchange. He then became involved in a physical altercation with one of his coaches and had to be restrained by a teammate.

Gee, what a peach. Fighting coaches. Destroying Christmas displays. Sleeping in meetings. Rarely takes notes.

Think about the last charge. You don’t think that has anything to do with America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston not being able to connect with Jackson?

And this guy has the balls to go on national TV and throw Jameis, a true workaholic, under the bus.

Let’s think about this further: Former Bucs guard Logan Mankins, a true professional, had told Bucs officials if he returned to the Bucs in 2016, it would have been because he respected Jameis so much.

Vincent Jackson, another true pro, worshipped Jameis.

A guy with a Super Bowl ring, Clinton McDonald, another class act, Joe knows for a fact he may have been one of Jameis’ biggest supporters on the team.

But a malcontent who gets into hassles with his coaches and blows off meetings and demands trades couldn’t get on the same page as Jameis.

And Jackson was also the only receiver Jameis has ever had in the NFL (including the misplaced Calgary Stampeder Donteaa Dye and the pride of the velvet-lined lounge of the Vero Beach Ramada Inn, super crooner Freddie Martino and his band) that he had problems connecting with.

This really shouldn’t be a difficult puzzle to solve as who is the culprit here.

The sad thing is, Joe wonders what young players (Chris Godwin? Noah Spence?) Jackson and his cohort from Washington, offsides-jumping, Lightning-trolling, belly-shirt-wearing, practice-hating, kicker-heckling, tree-grinding , non-contact-football-loving, chicken-wings-grilling, playing-time-squawking, TV-cooking-star, half-sack Swaggy Baker may have poisoned in the process?

Jackson doing his best to blow up the locker room, infest the team with insubordination and destroy his young franchise quarterback may go down as the absolute worst signing this Bucs team has ever had.

  1. Mikey Macfly Says:

    Yet the haters will still blame Jameis, SMH!

  2. Bucsfanman Says:

    Shame on the organization if this took place and they didn’t even consider trading him.
    I’ve defended DJax as an established, speedy WR and for his production on the field. This story is “Exhibit A” of an incompetent organization’s inability to properly address disciplinary issues.
    Shame on DJax, absolutely!
    Shame on Coach and GM for allowing this to continue.
    Welcome to Bucs-land!

  3. StoutGospel Says:

    Yeah, agreed. He seems to have always carried that “streets” mentality from Cali that he always refers to in past interviews, and his prep/interviews leading up to the combine back in the day. He always reflects on that mentality and behavior fondly. Plus massive Diva quotient factored in.

    Just glad that releasing or trading him (maybe to a team he doesn’t want would be a nice eff U back to him) doesn’t result in any cap hit for 2019.

  4. JWBUCS Says:

    Sounds like the display of professional behavior coming from a clown that was given a 20 million dollar guarantee within his 33 million dollar contract….

  5. Kgh4life Says:

    With all the trouble Jackson caused, the Bucs still decided to play him. His contract was guaranteed, but they could’ve sat him the whole year, sighting “conduct detrimental to the team”. It’s just not worth it to have that type of player around, it makes a losing culture that much worse.

  6. Kalind Says:

    This is why I didn’t want him in the first place. No one should be surprised. There are better options available. Frankly, I’m not sure Watson isn’t a better option right now

  7. Hodad Says:

    If all true, and I don’t doubt it, no way Licht survives.

  8. D-Rome Says:

    You are absolutely correct Bucsfanman. If any of this is true, then this is exhibit #312 as to why Jason Licht should be fired. If Jackson was this much of a malcontent then he should have been released.

    Then again, Jason Licht’s FAKE image as a good GM could not afford to take another hit if he let go of Chris Baker and DeSean Jackson last year. He needed the Jay-Miss to DeSean connection to work, and it didn’t.

  9. ProfessorX Says:

    Is this not another inditement on Jason Licht? He should’ve stepped-in as the GM

  10. Mikey Macfly Says:

    This is why Koetter has to go. No accountability. How do you name this thug a Captain when he’s shown nothing but selfishness and a lack of commitment.

  11. Bucs fan #7423 Says:

    Stop painting Desean Jackson to be the bad guy joe. Dumb dumb Jamies can’t complete a deep pass to him, yah know that’s the only reason why we signed him.

    He was fired up and happy when Fitz was in and we were winning, so blame the coaches and blame dumb dumb Jamies for not being able to do something that LITERALLY every other quarterback has and that’s complete deep passes to djax

    Plus he’s there to return punts if the game is on the line like he did against the Steelers

  12. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Fighting coaches. Destroying Christmas displays. Sleeping in meetings. Rarely takes notes.

    Good thing that Djax is leaving because the description of him when Joe writes is growing……

    And, how is this all of the sudden about players worshiping Jameis?

  13. BFFL Says:

    Gboys must be pushovers to allow this crap to go on. Or Licht trying to coverup his mistakes.

  14. Eastsidebuc Says:

    SMH!!! This is why both Koetter and Licht have to go. Neither one of them stood up to this jerk to create a healthy environment for a young QB/team. Promote Shelton Quarles to GM and Hire Kris Richard. 2 men who know what it takes to win and know what a good lockeroom looks like. Shame on Licht and Koetter they are weak and we don’t need that.

  15. Mike Johnson Says:

    If your team is winning? That card game becomes a..get together. And that fight with the coach? a small friendly..disagreement. Sleeping in Meetings? You are excused to catch up on your rest. Thats how a Winning team flips that script .
    But when your team is a perennial loser? Everything is ILLUMINATED. Fire him he’s the root cause of us losing…huh? Where’ that next bad apple lynch mob..find him!! Reminds me of that Sci-Fi movie with Donald Southerland where in the ending, he’s gretted with a smile and welcome . And he opens his mouth wide and emits this piercing sound while pointing his finger at the lady.

  16. Tom Edrington Says:

    Yeah but the Joe(s) were in love with the guy…..

  17. Bucs fan #7423 Says:

    If dumb dumb Jamies doesn’t have a good game against the falcons I vote we should get rid of him ASAP

  18. Not there yet Says:

    This front office is gone. So we got rid of baker for being lazy and the team exploded over a false start on the freaking goal line as if they were gonna actually stop the panthers but here is a story from last year around Christmas and you still kept the guy another year and wouldn’t entertain a trade? What was it Licht punishment? Everyone is gone and all this news leads me to believe glazers are done hiring rookie amateurs for coaches. This is no longer a young team, there are too many veterans to be hearing these types of stories

    What happened to the accountability talk from Lavonte and Geraldine all off-season? Tired of all the weak players on this team so it’s no wonder they fold at halftime so soft. And mike Evans is supposed to be a team captain but thinks that’s not something he should address. Too many softies on this team too many Geraldine clones

  19. AlteredEgo Says:

    Rarely do I agree with a malcontent playing in a team sport……yeah the OL has some squishy spots…but the weapons available to “a QB” are the best ever assembled in the history of the Bucs….and our starting QB can’t hit a receiver in stride and on time

  20. go for the face30 Says:

    I was 100% absolutely wrong about Desean, and have been anti Jameis. You know what? I feel bad as hell for Jameis. He has a lot of room to grow as a player but you can never ever ever question Jameis’s work ethic. NO WONDER he has no chemistry with Jackson. Doesn’t take notes, sleeps in meetings. What an absolute cancer, piece of crap. What’s sad is this is one of Mike Evans idols growing up, and then you live the dream of playign with them and they turn out to be an ASSHOLE. Never meet your heros

  22. SteveK Says:

    While this isn’t a good look, it doesn’t diminish the fact that D-Jax was wide open and we failed to get him the ball. The guys is passionate, and has an attitude. I’d be pissed off if I was the top 3 fastest deep threats in the NFL and my QB couldn’t connect with me.

    Bucs fan #7423 You are dumb AF. Your actually saying it’s Winston fault a grown arse man is having a temper tantrum at the END the season? Yea your an idiot he had the entire offseason to request a trade he had the entire offseason to create drama that would get him traded. He’s a coward and used Winston as an excuse. I don’t know why someone has to explain basic common sense. Your a pathetic troll and if Winston being able to hit everyone except him is an excuse that makes his behavior ok then I’m pretty sure you are still 40 years old going through teenage puberty living with your parents

  26. StoutGospel Says:

    HEY Bucs fans….great, GREAT discussion on PFT this morning between Florio and Peter King surrounding JOHN Harbaugh, what the Ravens supposedly want in trade for him, and Harbaugh’s pattern of thinking right now, salary etc…

    Check it out if you can!!

    Glazers go GET JOHN Harbaugh please!!

  27. Buc4evr Says:

    Wrong fit for this team and while it looked good on paper ,Winston simply is not accurate with the deep ball. Djax is wasting his time here he needs to move on.

  29. Season Is Over Says:

    I am more concerned with why he was effectively useless here with Winston. Jackson knows the real story. Why would anyone believe the rumor mill? It will come out properly. Just because this website is scouring the earth for anything to make Mr. Magoo look good does not mean the fan base is gullible. They see right through the yellow journalism.

  30. NPRSageBoy Says:

    Bye, bye DJax. Don’t let the door hit you where the Good Lord split you. Take Licht with you.

  31. BucTown Says:

    Not to diminish the role of Jackson’s misbehavior, but it would have helped immensely to have a strong, experienced position coach running the receiver’s room. Dirk could have hired Terry Robiskie after he elevated Todd Monken to full-time OC. Robiskie – who was interviewed for the job and wanted in – would have brooked no insolence from any of his players. But Terry can be a hard-headed and combative sort if he disagrees with his superiors in the coaching chain, which is why Dirk passed on him (think about that). Instead, Dirk appointed a former offensive assistant with zero experience running a position room to coach what might be the most important player group at One Buc.

  32. Season Is Over Says:

    I wonder who is going to be the next scapegoat this year. What about next? There have been so many already.

  33. 1Gr8Buc Says:

    @Bucs fan: I vote you STFU until you have something of relevance to add.

  34. Bird Says:

    I think Bonzai said it yesterday.

    All this “problems/bad press “ coming out is from the hard work of his agent

    Desean was to be cut/ released so he can sign with whoever he wants.
    Not who he is traded too cause bucs will want most they can get for him from desperate team

    I’m sure some stuff went down cause he is a diva. So is OBJ and so is Antonio Brown. Believe middle of the road. Not all the stuff being spewed here. Funny how people are jumping on this bandwagon story .

  35. Bird Says:

    I got to say it again. Lmao.

    How funny is it … that Jameis not being able to connect with Desean on a deep ball was a result of him being a diva in the locker room.

    Joes- this is the best excuse so far.

    Can you guys do a top 10 best excuses for Jameis career since the new year is coming up?

  36. AKickInTheBucNuts Says:

    Shocking! Just Shocking…said no one ever.

  37. Troy Says:

    If this is true, our coaches are pathetic. Do you think Belacheat or Tomlin would stand for this nonsense?

  38. D-Rome Says:

    I was 100% absolutely wrong about Desean, and have been anti Jameis. You know what? I feel bad as hell for Jameis.

    Don’t feel bad. Without DeSean Jackson he *still* has one of the best receiving corps in the NFL.

  39. joestang Says:

    another licht pick that turned out bad. we could have had alshon jeffries.

  40. Rob Says:

    Do not just cut him. I’d rather he not get his way (out of Tampa) than to just cut him. Hold out for some other team desperate for a deep threat to trade us a draft pick (anything round 3-5 would do) for his services. Go Bucs!

  41. ben Says:

    Winston would ruin DJax career if he stayed here since Winston isn’t accurate throwing deep like Fitz .

  42. Bucsfanman Says:

    Mike Johnson is right. If we’re winning, it’s a non-factor. However, given the situation, this should have been dealt with.

    Leadership, leadership, leadership!
    Are there really any more questions about the leadership of this team?! That’s coaching, that’s on the GM for not ridding the team of this cancer.

    i bet djax and monken were the ones that got into it….i remember when we first signed djax, monken didnt seem too pleased and basically said djax was only here because of the money…..

    theres no accountability or discipline with dirk as our HC…..

    kris richard kept earl, richard, and cam all in line…..3 very strong personalities…..thats the ypr of coach we need….someone who knows how to deal with bada$$es and not just nice guys…..

    Bucs fan #7423 You are dumb AF. Your actually saying it’s Winston fault a grown arse man is having a temper tantrum at the END the season?
    ——-

    Desean Jackson temper tantrum started when dumb dumb Jamies started playing this year not completing deep passes to him like LITERALLY every other quarterback has

    If dumb dumb Jamies was smart and accurate Desean Jackson would be a happy man and we would be happy fans

    So yes it is dumb dumb Jamies fault djax amazing talents are being wasted in Tampa

  46. AlteredEgo Says:

    If Jamyth is the QB next year…nothing will have changed other than coaches names…he has been given enough time and talent to produce much better results…Jamyth has reached his Peter Principle plateau ….it is Groundhog Day from here to the everafter …time to cut our losses and move on

    Fitz was always a Buc back up QB and did his job….Jamyth is the starter as sucks dog balls throwing NFL balls….watch on Sunday and see how many throws are to WR standing still….

  50. Bobby M. Says:

    Knowing all this was going on, who didn’t trade him?….Koetter or Licht?

    Licht says all the right things but his results don’t match his bravado…..His drafts at best grade at probably a D+….His free agent signings…D- or worse and his overall product on the field is one winning season, ZERO playoff appearances, and 4 last place finishes. Call it bad luck, good intentions, whatever, its a results oriented business and Licht has terrible results. This will be the second season in a row in which we have some bizarre drama with talk of firing the coach and looking at the draft. #YoureFired

  55. Ndog Says:

    Wow just wow on these comments on Jameis when you have a piece of trash selfish player on this team and HE is the one that is being supported over Jameis. This just shows that anything being said to support or acknowledge Jameis’s accomplishments are a complete waste of time.

    You people know nothing about team sports do you?

  56. Bucsfan3 Says:

    Thank you for telling the truth and bringing the correct angle, Koe. This guy is a team cancer. Cut him out and ship to a team desperate enough for talent they look past his garbage. Can DJ!

    You don’t suspend a guy for stuff he did before you drafted him, ya goober. He was suspended for the one thing he did in a Bucs uniform that was worthy of it.

  65. Knack2Babbyyyy Says:

    Jason Licht should have traded DeQuit Jackson at the deadline. Now who’s going to trade anything significant for him, when it’s pretty obvious that he’s going to be a free agent this off-season. Also, the fact that Dirk has called him one of the teams leaders is just bizarre.

  66. Cgmaster27 Says:

    Take your meds bucfan. And actually after game 2 fitz did not complete one pass over 20 yards to mesean. You k ow who did, Jameis. Actually do a little research, itll keep you from looking like a clown.

  68. Eric Says:

    Jackson went into the witness protection program and was no factor after the first three games, no matter which QB played.

    my great concern is how in the world was this guy named a team captain?

    Either the players who saw him sleeping in meeting didn’t care, or Koetter didn’t, or both.

    Either way, not a good look for Dirk.

  69. Waterboy Says:

    Sounds like the idea choice for the coach to make captain and speak so highly of during last offseason.

  70. Joe Says:

    Either the players who saw him sleeping in meeting didn’t care, or Koetter didn’t, or both.

    A lot of pandering going on.

    And no, not a good look for Koetter. Sure appears he lost the locker room — last year.

  71. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Trade him to AZ

  72. SilverBuc Says:

    Jameis hits Mike Evans in stride (Mike called a Jameis pass “an absolute dime” last week)
    Jameis hits Humphries in stride (unfortunately Hump got blasted on one this last game but held on!)
    Jameis hits Godwin in stride (that RPO a few weeks ago that got ~50 yards)
    He even hit DJax in stride just this last game on the play he got “cleated”.
    If you hate Jameis, just say that, you’ll have more credibility that just making stuff up like “he’s not accurate” or “he can’t hit a receiver in stride”.

  73. Waterboy Says:

    I’ll bet Me-Jax wouldn’t try that with this coach, this is the type of guy the Bucs need.

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hfYhYft8dwI

  74. Bucsfanman Says:

    ATrain- I agree. I don’t think this supersedes all the other issues surrounding this offense. We all saw the games where DJax is wide-open and the ball sails, just as we’ve seen the games where he doesn’t go 100%. Either way, how do you explain the other errant throws to WRs?
    No, it’s the easy way out to blame ONE guy!
    Not for nothing, but this offense has looked awfully pedestrian of late without DJax. Coincidence?

  75. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

    If you had a REAL LEADER in charge of this franchise like TONY DUNGY , it never gets anywhere near this state of CHAOS , because DUNGY would NOT TOLERATE it.

  76. LakeLand Says:

    DJax will be history after Sunday, the Bucs won’t bring him back
    They will bring Jameis Winston back on his 5th year option
    They will draft a D-Lineman or a DE/LB like Kentucky Josh Allen
    In the 1st round of the 2019 NFL draft
    They will add a veteran QB during free agency or trade for one

    The 2020 NFL draft will be loaded with solid quarterbacks
    The Bucs may draft one ( Depends on Jameis 2019 performance)

    There you have it

    Lakelandadamus has spoken

  77. Bucko40 Says:

    Sounds me like Joe(aka Bucs Propaganda arm) is in royal spin mode. DJax has never been known as a saint. He’s always been about the money and making big plays. Putting that aside Jameis has always failed to connect with speedy WR. NOBODY questions Winston’s work ethic. It the end result of that work ethic that fans are questioning. Winston’s penchant for turnovers is a major factor in his failure to progress. When the field gets small inside the 25yardline Winston fails to often and offense must Settle for FG. Winston under pressure makes more mistakes Or errant throws. Joe can blame DJax (he deserves a lot of blame) or the OL or the Running game or the Defense. Ultimately the QB gets all the credit when a team wins and the majority of the blame when they lose. Nature of the NFL. A FAILURE to admit draft mistakes is what costs teams years. It’s time to move on from this mistake or we Bucs fans can expect much of the same that we’ve seen the past 4 years

  78. Joe Says:

    DJax will be history after Sunday

    He already is. Hasn’t practiced all week including today.

  79. Bucko40 Says:

    SilverBuc. For every pass that Winston hits perfectly there are 3-4 more that are over or under thrown. For all of Winston athletic ability he has won 21 games in 4 seasons. Yes it’s a team sport but Great QBS find ways to win games not lose them.

  80. Bucsfanman Says:

    “Lakelandadamus “?!!! Too funny!

    “Ultimately the QB gets all the credit when a team wins”

    Bullspit, Jameis got ripped after the win against the Browns.

  82. Bucsfanman Says:

    Waterboy- I like the Singletary reference and agree.

  83. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Bucko40

    Yep^^^^^^^

  84. BuccaneEric75 Says:

    It’s amazing what teams can hide until they don’t want them hidden anymore.

  85. Donkc Says:

    Pretty far off topic, but just wanted Joe to know that Freddie the lounge singer and Donte the stampeder both made it to a championship game. I advanced to the championship round in my fantasy football league and stocked my entire bench with Bucs players after setting my active lineup. Fitzmagic was there holding a clipboard. DJax and Barber watched too. Alas, the stench of defeat that permeated from the bench afflicted my team and I lost the matchup (that and Rogers’ 46 fantasy points). But at least a few Bucs got to see a championship game, something that probably won’t happen again for decades.

  86. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    Ndog Says:
    “You people know nothing about team sports do you?”

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Most of them do, Ndog.
    The ones that have forgotten just talk really loud.
    Siding with DJax over JW on this is pathetic. Anyone who is doing that is siding with a loafing, complaining, “me-first” guy over someone who is first one in the building, last one out, giving it every ounce of sweat he has got, every single day.
    I mean, really?
  87. SilverBuc Says:
    Bucko40, why did Phillip Rivers lose last week?
    Why did Roethlisberger lose last week?
    Why did Mahomes lose last week?
    Why did Watson lose last week?
    They must not be great QBs!!
    So Winston has won 21 games in his 3 1/2 years (I don’t believe in W/L QB stats btw), you know how many games the Bucs won in the FOUR complete seasons before drafting Jameis?
    17…seventeen in FOUR whole seasons…TOTAL.
  88. Jmarkbuc Says:
    Silverbuc
    who were the QB’s in the 4 years before Winston?
    You’re not really helping your case.
  89. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:
    I tried to tell people for the past year or so, but did people listen? Nope.
    Jackson has always been the issue, as I have said all along.
  90. SilverBuc Says:
    Jmark, who were the QBs before? Not as good as Winston apparently, thank you for helping my case. Damn, smh.
  91. Waterboy Says:
    @Bonzai
    I have to disagree with you on that. That’s not a Me-Jax problem that’s a problem with coaching and the leadership within the organization. Not a good look for Koetter and Licht to tolerate it.
  92. Tampa Bay Demon Says:
    LOL SilverBuc!! — That’s kind of what I was thinking too.
    I was like “Am I missing something there??”
    Oh well….
  93. Jmarkbuc Says:
    Silverbuc
    Apparently they were only 4 games in 4 years worse than Winston, and none of them were #1 overall draft picks.
    But you’re not really into W/L records, more into Moral victories, I suppose.
  94. Tampa Bay Demon Says:
    ALL THIS INFIGHTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    AGHGHGHGHGHGHG!!!!!!!!
    We ALL BLEED BUCS colors.
    We ALL deserve to win some damn games and get to the playoffs.
    We have more in common than we don’t.
  95. canadianbucsfan Says:
    Trade him to Buffalo.
    This room just shows how dumb the bucs fan base is. You have the bipolar Buchanan 7432 who one minute likes jameis ,the next want him cut. Might want to take your medication dude.
    Being a Bucs fan maaaaaaaaaaaaaade me this wayyyyyy
    LOL
  97. SilverBuc Says:
    QB W/L stats, genius. But don’t worry, you hate Jameis I’ve seen your posts, I gotchu. :thumbs up:
  98. Pewter Says:
    Altered – Fitz was always a Buc back up QB and did his job….Jamyth is the starter as sucks dog balls throwing NFL balls….watch on Sunday and see how many throws are to WR standing still….
    Jameis throws darts. but if you say he ‘sucks dog balls throwing NFL balls’ it must be true huh?
    Maybe our wr’s have to settle down in the soft-azz zone teams play because we have ZERO running game. This is not hard folks. Look at the top teams in the NFL. They have running games and decent offensive lines.
    Keep pushing your agenda tho.
  99. Jmarkbuc Says:
    Silverbuc
    Hate is to strong an emotion to waste on someone you don’t know…
    I don’t hate Winston, just see him for what he is…and I also know the world won’t end if he’s no longer a Buc. In fact we might win damn near as many games with or without him.
    You say the Bucs only won 17 games…but WINSTON won 21..but you’re not into QB stats. Seems a little contradictory. Looks to me like he’s just slightly better than whatever garbage we have run through here.
    Mahomes, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Watson…They all lost last week but most are heading to the playoffs…no Idea what your point is there.
    Winston has racked up some stats, but there is only one stat that really matters.
  100. SilverBuc Says:
    Yeah, that’s my point. The TEAM lost 2 games before Winston started and lost 3 straight games after he was benched. The TEAM is losing, has lost and will continue to lose.
    I know the world won’t end if Winston leaves the Bucs, I almost wish he does, to get away from such a perennially losing franchise and losing fanbase that knows nothing but losing. These fans don’t know how to support the team…by that I mean there’s constant complaining even when the team wins. I think that was Winston’s point in one of his press conferences recently, something to the effect of “It will be harder for y’all (if they win), y’all won’t have much (good) to say.”
    The point about those other QB’s is simple to comprehend if you read what I was responding to. It takes a good TEAM to beat another good TEAM. Even great QB’s play in games where the team loses.
  101. BigMacAttack Says:
    So chemistry should be blamed on Djax. You knew it would be a problem when Licht first signed him and he didn’t show up for OTAs. The fact still remains that Fitz had no problem hitting Jackson in stride. Jameis is not a great QB and never will be great. He makes too many mistakes that can only be blamed on Jameis.
  102. Jmarkbuc Says:
    Silverbuc
    Fair enough. Without an overhaul of the front office (and especially our scouting dept),and this lame coaching staff, it doesn’t really matter who plays QB.
    I still firmly believe that JW is not what he was hyped to be. JW absolutely is not responsible for ALL the losses. But his mechanics and football mentality are not elite.
    Will a Good Defense and a running game make him throw better? Or help him manage the play clock?
  103. Bucsfanman Says:
    Demon- Tip O’ the hat for trying to mediate! Some of these stories, IMO, are designed to get people frothy!
    It’s what we’ve all wanted for decades: Winning!
    It hasn’t worked for years. Get some people , football people, in here to make it work. I’m sick of losing. I’d rather be kvetching my QB deflating balls…allegedly!
  104. El_Buc941 Says:
    And sometimes i wonder if Jameis could ever over throw him…. everyone in the league says it wasn’t possible to iver throw Jackson…maybe he just didn’t try…alot of those passes where right on his finger tips…
  105. Jmarkbuc Says:
    The only coach that changed this culture was unceremoniously sent packing after turning around the worst franchise in sports.
    And there is no way he would come back in any capacity. And that’s a damn shame.
  106. Jameis Says:
    You can take them out of the ghetto but you can never take the ghetto out of them.
    It’s spreading.
  108. Tampa Bay Demon Says:
    BigMacAttack Says:
    “Fitz had no problem hitting Jackson in stride.”
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    For 2 games, BigMac, and it was a beautiful thing to watch. For several more games together, Fitz could not connect with DJax (or anyone else), whatsoever.

    We will never know if Jameis may have also connected in those first 2 games with DJax. Because clearly it was taken away from Fitz by the Defenses after that.

  109. calbucsfan Says:

    IF these alleged offenses are actually true, then these are absolutely few of the pieces of evidence that could be used against both Licht and Koetter to justify firing them.

    Allowing ANY player to act as this article indicates, without consequence, definitely shows the jobs are too big for these two men. DJ should have been suspended, fined, and either sat at the end of the bench or sent home with his baby bottle until trade time, and then they should have traded him to his LEAST favorable team.

    Instead, the brat will get what he wants, out of town, and someone like the Rams, Patriots or even Saints will sign him for next season and he will be an all-pro.

    God, I love being a Bucs fan!

  110. Petty Officer Buc Says:

    If this is even 30% true, Licht should be fired for not trading D-Jax. It would show that Licht is so scared of having busts that he is unwilling to move on from toxic situations and a GM that is scared isn’t a GM for me.

  111. Dre Says:

    Joe your so stupid lol jameis a workaholic … he may be that but he’s garbage … you must do a lot of dreaming huh lol

  112. NJBucsFan Says:

    His cat naps and disruptive nature didn’t keep Fitz from making the connection with him…

  113. #1bucfan Says:

    I really don’t want to have to watch our team learn a new system but it seems it’s the only way. #3 issues are all fixable. If he can cut down on the turnovers an be a little more accurate he will be fine. We need to fix the trenches on both sides more on offense. Hopefully Rojo will turn the corner an get some dam help in the secondary oh an fix our kicking problem an this team is well on its way. But it starts with the coaches we need them too. Not to much to ask really if you think about it.
