The Morning After

Joe feels like he just came back from the doctor’s office after receiving life-altering health news. Joe can never remember being this bummed over an October loss.

Smelling a Housecleaning

So here we sit here on this depressing Monday morning and for all Joe knows, behind the scenes, Team Glazer has already done homework preparing for a housecleaning come January. It’s looking that bad.

Joe’s not advocating for it, but Joe can smell the bleach already. Yeah, the Bucs are one game under .500 at 3-4. It feels a whole lot worse.

Your franchise quarterback has fallen off a cliff. A coveted wide receiver is squawking about wanting out. Too many draft picks cannot get on the field and when they do, they are JAGs. The team has another kicker problem on its hands. Man, things are ugly.

And Bucs coach Dirk Koetter is stuck in no-man’s land. He was specifically hired to develop America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. After Year 2, the future was bright as could be. Then Jameis got hurt. Then the defense went to hell. Jameis played as good of ball in the final month of the 2017 season as any quarterback in the NFL — except for fumbles and five interceptions. There is always a “but” with Jameis.

Then he gets suspended and whoever or whatever the hell got into his head, he’s suddenly turned colorblind.

Jameis has taken care of the fumbles that plagued him but replaced those with picks. Lordy, the picks. Good grief. He got benched yesterday, rightly so. Santa Claus and the Salvation Army are embarrassed with the presents he was dishing out.

Now what does Koetter do?

If he benches Jameis the rest of the season, he has basically publicly confessed to Team Glazer that he has failed, which is a precursor to having to clean out your office. If Koetter sticks with Jameis and Jameis doesn’t snap out of it, the team loses and Koetter risks having the locker room blow up, if it hasn’t already (see “Radio” below).

The ways Joe can see Koetter saving his job right now are twofold: 1. If the Bucs make the playoffs with backup Ryan Fitzpatrick. Given Fitz’s long history of awful play, that’s one helluva gamble. 2. Koetter keeps starting Jameis and he cuts down the interceptions. The Bucs may not win games but if Jameis can stop the picks – he only had 11 in 13 games last season – Koetter can tell Team Glazer, “I repaired Jameis.”

Joe does not envy Koetter at all. In fact, Joe feels rotten for Koetter. There doesn’t appear to be any good decision on face value. He had all the look of a dead man walking at his press conference yesterday.

The DeSean Jackson Trade Rumor

Thus far, the Bucs have not publicly denied Jackson asked for a trade. Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht had his weekly pregame appearance on the Buccaneers Radio Network and while he never said Jackson asked for a trade, he alked about how he had a great relationship with Jackson and how much he loves Jackson and how Koetter and Jackson are on the same page.

FOX play-by-play man Chris Myers said he had spoken with Licht about Jackson. Myers said he came away from the conversation believing Jackson is not on the trading block. Again, no denial of Jackson requesting a trade.

Last Tuesday, Jackson’s mother who is active on Twitter, had a cryptic message about a quarterback’s inability to get the ball to her son. Sunday, she took to Twitter to explain how much her son likes the Tampa Bay area (all of Jackson’s fishing videos on Instagram shows that he seems to be enjoying life here away from the football field). However, his mom never denied the trade request rumor.

So on top of the no-win migraine of what to do at quarterback, Koetter (and Licht) have to deal, allegedly, with a star wide receiver who doesn’t want to be here. Joe isn’t sure if anything has changed in the wake of Jackson catching a 60-yard bomb from Jameis yesterday.

Kickers. Again.

What the hell is it about the Bucs and kickers? Lost in the loss and the benching of Jameis was that the Bucs have yet another kicker problem. Again.

Stiff Chandler Catanzaro missed yet another extra point yesterday, his fourth of the season. And he was kicking everything to the right. Again, just barely clearing the kicks he did make inside the right upright.

Now Joe has never been a kicker and never been a kicking coach and maybe what Joe is typing now is naïve and stupid and misguided, but maybe, just maybe, someone with the Bucs might want to reach out to Catanzaro.

Can someone with cojones tell him maybe, just maybe, he might want to start aiming towards the left of wherever the hell he is targeting? You know, just a thought? But what the hell does Joe know? Joe has never kicked or coached kicking but sure as heck can see everything is going right on Catanzaro.

Frankly, Joe doesn’t give a flip if Catanzaro is back next week or not. This missing extra points and being shaky with field goals every friggin’ game is enough. Poor Koetter likely will have kicker nightmares in the middle of his night for the rest of his life from his days with the Bucs.

The mystery with Catanzaro isn’t so much his kicking troubles, it’s why Koetter keeps banking on him over some of the best playmakers in the game residing on the Bucs’ roster.

On Friday, the Bucs worked out Sam Ficken and Cairo Santos. Sooner or later this nonsense with kicker has to stop, doesn’t it? Doesn’t it!

Radio Noise

Yesterday on the Buccaneers Radio Network, just like last year at Carolina when Kwon Alexander went after Swaggy Baker in the locker room after the game, Joe heard postgame screaming and hollering and dropping f’ bombs. The only thing Joe could make out clearly amid the cursing was a very loud “… f’ing game! … ” And then the Bucs radio network quickly cut the feed and went back to the studio. The only time they threw it back to Cincinnati afterwards was to talk to Koetter in a quiet hallway or concourse some 15 minutes later.

Joe has no idea who was involved, and since it was during the cool down period immediately after the game when the locker room is closed, Joe has learned that beat writers outside the locker room did not hear any ruckus.

People on Twitter also responded to Joe saying they heard the same thing on the radio.

Again, not sure what type of hassle happened to chase away the live radio feed from Cincinnati, but it was at least good to hear someone was hacked off enough to unload on his teammates.

Kwon Missed

Boy, was Ian Beckles right.

In the latest edition of his podcast, “In the Trenches,” Beckles predicted the Bucs would miss Kwon Alexander a whole lot more than they are letting on. And in the first half Joe Mixon absolutely gashed the Bucs. Badly.

You cannot tell Joe that Mixon would have gone off like he did in the first two quarters had Alexander been patrolling the middle.

I have been a huge fan & supporter of Jameis Winston for a long time, as some of you probably know.

Sadly, I too finally realize that it is just over here. I am just tired. Tired of hoping and rooting for him to find that inner player that I have always believed is there.

He may someday find that player within and have big success on another team…. and that is ok. I truly hope that he does.

It is painfully evident that it is not going to be here in Tampa Bay.
Which is sad. For it means we are going to have to start ALL OVER again.

To all of you that have been saying it all along… hats off to you.
Thanks for keeping arguments with me at a cordial level.

Good luck to you Jameis. Truly hope you find that success down the road.

  2. Robert Says:

    TODAY WE CELEBRATE!!!!

The Bucs move on from jameis, CRABMAN winston and the fanbase can become whole again rooting for the TEAM!!!

  3. Fartman Says:

Start Fitz.. .make the playoffs… Koetter will be fine.

  4. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

I want to see Jameis dressed in street clothes for rest of the season

  5. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

We only lost 2 games with Winston as a starter, so the damage isn’t irrecoverable. Fitz can lead us to the playoffs now that our defense is mediocre

  6. Bobby M. Says:

How many successful GMs go through 2 Head Coaches…4 defensive coordinators…4 kickers…have a franchise QB suspended for exactly what his red flags were when he was drafted….The list goes on and on. Licht has had the luxury of premium draft picks, spending from ownership, patience, etc…..He doesn’t know what he’s doing. He’s basically the equivalent of Winston as a GM….Flashes of potential but the overall body of work is terrible.

  7. Robert Says:

“We only lost 2 games with Winston as a starter”

    count much?

He lost 3 out of 4
11 turnovers and the loss of a star WR later he gets benched.

They should have done it at halftime and the season could have been saved.

for THAT ALONE I say Koetter needs to go. He didn’t have the stones!

  8. AlteredEgo Says:

Not to toot my own horn but Jameis put together in one game what I have been criticizing him for before he was drafted and ever since he was a Buccaneer….nothing personal against the name Jameis Winston only what I saw in a quarterback…sad as it seems we are back looking for “the franchise Buc QB “……I wish him the best…he just does not have all the parts to become an elitie NFL QB and that is what every franchise is looking for and there are many in the same boat as the Bucs

  9. Tom S. Says:

I feel bad for Koetter, you can’t blame him for Jameis being the same player he was as a redshirt soph in college.

Jameis peaked as a freshman in college and his sordid off the field history is likely weighing on his conscience like Tiger Woods’ once did. That’s not on Koetter that’s on the garbage GM who couldn’t find an average NFL kicker if his life depended on it. A GM who’s 2016 and 2018 NFL drafts look like some of the worst in modern team history. None of that is Koetters fault.

  10. adam from ny Says:

start fitzie and watch us win like 5 out of 6…time to get rolling!

  11. Fartman Says:

Man… am I the only one who’s glad to see we are finally playing the better QB and we actually have a shot now?

I’m certainly not as down as Joe. Get rid of Winston and the kicker and this team can do some damage.

  12. Sarasota Garey Says:

Winston needs to figure out what team hes playing for

  13. adam from ny Says:

the noise you heard in the locker room was kwon storming into the locker room, busted knee and all, and getting gully on jameis for stankin’ out the jungle

  14. SteveK Says:

Koetter stuck with Jameis for as long as he could. I support the team, and believe they gave every opportunity to Jameis this year and they have to move on from him now.

Thankful we know now, and can avoid $21 million next year.

  15. Waterboy Says:

Koetter has to play the guy that gives him the best chance to win this season.

  16. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

“If he benches Jameis the rest of the season, he has basically publicly confessed to Team Glazer that he has failed, which is a precursor to having to clean out your office.”

The only person that failed Jameis Winston is Jameis Winston. Fitzpatrick lights it up with the same scheme, players, and play calling as Jameis Winston.

Jamies was out grabbing crotches when he should have been studying tape. Stop rewarding this kid’s lip services with more opportunities. He’s been saying the same thing for the best 4 years and he’s still turning the ball over. This kid’s gotta go.

Dirk Koetter’s offense is the best the Buc’s have ever had. Get this man a decent defensive coordinator and a God D##mn quarterback that doesn’t turn the ball over!

  17. The Buc Realist Says:

The coaches were setup for failure!!!! The local media and sheep said playoffs or busts!!!!! When the “real” fans could plainly see that the roster was not ready!!!!!! It was so easy to see, why could not the sheep see????????

    The Buc Realist Says:

“We only lost 2 games with Winston as a starter”

    count much?
    ____

Jameis only started against Falcons, Browns, and Bengals. He lost 2 of those 3. He didn’t start against the Bears.

  19. rob Says:

The first step in the Bucs recovery is admitting they have a Jameis problem. Based on his contract and injury guarantee he shouldn’t play anymore this year for us. They can try for a trade or cut him after the season. It is way more fun to watch the team when Fitz is playing, win or lose.

  20. WalkdaPlank Says:

Ryan Fitzpatrick gives this team the best chance to win. Anyone who disagrees is either blind or an FSU fan.

If you’re the head coach, job on the line, what do you need to keep your job?

    Wins.

Koetter isn’t capable of “repairing” Jameis. Only Jameis can do that. As Joe said yesterday, it’s one thing for Jameis to be benched, and it’s an entirely different story when the guy who comes off the bench lights up the D that was terrorizing Jameis. How come Fitz succeeds where Jameis fails?

I say ride Fitz till the Magic is gone. Which it might be as soon as the Bucs play a good defense. Jameis has thrown his last pass as a Bucs IMO, but Fitz has outplayed him. Period.

  21. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

    I agree with fartman.

    It’s bittersweet.

On one hand, I’m a little depressed that our ‘Franchise QB’ has totally regressed /imploded, but I am almost giddy about the last qtr of play from Fitz.

In the shortterm, yesterday worked out great for us (if jameis want going to snap out of his funk this season, that is).

Fitz will less this team to the playoffs.

7-2 the rest of the way with Fitz…

  22. Darin Says:

With this defense they cant have the other teams d scoring points. Duff comes in and gets the d a little better and jameis throws it away. Doesnt seem to matter how many yards or points they score. Terrible move not letting smith go after last year. Now theyre adjusting mid season. Everything is falling apart. Bad coached team. Fire Dirk now n get a head start on next year. By that I mean these guys need a mind set change. Let Buckner run the show. Im guessing at least they will be prepared and aggressive. Much more than whats happening now.

  23. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

    *wasn’t

  24. WalkdaPlank Says:

I meant to say Jameis has NOT thrown his last pass as a Buc.

  26. adam from ny Says:

jameis was spotted on dale mabry this morning at denny’s…he was overheard ordering food…

he said: “I’ll have a W…in fact make it two…give me two W’s and a side of hash browns”

waitress said: “we all out of that here kiddo…go to jacksonville for that sheet”

  27. isrBuc Says:

Don’t know what you are talking about. We are 5-2, very much in the race. You talk like our coaches can’t tell which QB is more talented and should be playing. Like they decided, for some non professional and unethical reason to bench their 2 times NFC offensive player of the week, MVP caliber performer QB just to see what they have in another QB so they can make a decision for the future. This is absurd. They got 52 other players over there that desperate for a shot at the playoffs. are you crazy? Who would do something stupid like that? Crazy stuff. Im sure players, djax maybe, would have wanted out in this case. it’s insane!

  28. Dan Says:

I couldn’t be more happy. Dirk Jason and Winston are all the reasons we can’t and won’t win. Yesterday served to show that Winston can’t play. Dirk can’t coach and Jason can’t draft. I was thrilled with the outcome and anyone who wasn’t had unfounded and delusional hopes this team would ever improve. It amazes me how anyone who loves the Bucs could be so Rose colored as to want any of these 3 guys anywhere near our beloved Bucs.

  29. Waco Says:

Like some of you, I have been a Winston supporter. I have defended him to friends and family since the Bucs drafted him. Yesterday ended it for me. He is who he is and he will not change. The turnovers are costing the team. The behavior off the field is costing the fan base. Time to move on. Next week, I wouldn’t even dress him. Maybe we can trade him to Oakland for Carr. Give Chucky a project.

  30. SoFloBuc Says:

I am with you “Tampa Bay Demon”. It will suck because I do think he will go somewhere else and excell, as so many have in the past.
Cant ignore what Just happened, I wanted to make excuses, but Fitz had the same conditions, same defense, and the same teammates.
Still a Jameis fan but I think it will be for another team.

  31. JabooBuc Says:

If Dirk plays JW he loses this team which I still believe he has at this point. Pro’s play to win and not to be part of an experiment to see what you have in a QB because of his draft position.

They will respect him and play for him if he plays Fitz. Any other decision means packing it in.

  32. Dooshlarue Says:

    Count me as excited.
We now know JW isn’t our QB and things are simpler now.
The team doesn’t support him anymore and want to win with Fitzpatrick.
I don’t think a house cleaning is in order, but we need new scouts and a president of operations to get Licht over the hump.

Make some trades before the deadline….. cut the dead weight.

    Now let’s win some games.

    Go Bucs!!

  33. Robert Says:

    my bad bucsfan

11 turnover in 3 starts makes it feel bad ya know

  34. AlteredEgo Says:

Have you noticed one of Jameis’s favorite WR’s

    is standing still

when he catches most of his passes….Humphreys

  35. Jason Says:

I’m not a fan of JW by any stretch, but I’m curious why everyone is jumping on Licht for selecting him (if, indeed, it was a mutual choice made by him & Lovie). What were the QB options at the time? It was either Jameis or Mariota, right? So, how is MM doing? As of this morning (according to NFL.com stats), MM is ranked 45th in QB rating with 78.5, and JW is right behind him at 46 with a rating of 74.7.

True, MM has 5 less INT’s than Winston, but would the Bucs be that much better off had they selected MM instead of Jameis?

    Hindsight is ALWAYS 20/20.

  36. adam from ny Says:

fitzie spotted this morning with djax…going to djax’s barber to get freshly cut and cleaned up…starting qb’s can’t have their beard looking like an “atk hairy girls” beaver…then they’re off to zale’s to lace a dude up with some not so fly gold chains

  37. RaShad Says:

The Bucs can still win and get to 10 wins. The table is set for us to feast. However, it has to be with Fitzpatrick. I am Winston loyalist but yesterday, I hit rock bottom. I have ran out excuses for him. Yesterday was a winnable game and his four picks killed us and it sucked the life out of the team. If I’m Dirk, I’m telling Licht and the Glazers that “Fitzpatrick runs the same offense as Winston and the results are night and day. With this team I can get us to the postseason. I’m coaching for my job and my job is to get us to the promise land.”

  38. GhostofSchiano Says:

2018 has really opened my eyes. My apologies to fellow poster’s for arguing with you on my defense of wINsTon and McCoy.
It is clear that the O & D perform better when these 2 are on the bench. Yesterday was a prime example of that.

  39. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

All I have heard from the so called experts on this site & the radio is if you get rid of the DC mike smith the defense will improve? OK, and that vea was a better draft choice than derwin james for this team OK. If you get a DL the secondary will improve, OK. So joe mixon another RB licht has passed on runs all over the bucs despite a run stuffing DT 1st round pick!!! and ppl wanted buckner as the DC, i really hope what I see out of vea is not being coached, it isnt being coached out of him either….this team is so far away from being a playoff team…..Nick Saban as GM/HC, the bucs cannot pay him what he gets at bama but his ego and the chance to do something only 2 college coaches could do before will get him in tampa and he has an eye for talent and will get this thing turned around fast

We both agree Jameis needs to stay dressed in street clothes

  41. Joe Blahak Says:

Any talk of WinSTUNNED being a part of this team’s future and this cursed franchise digs a deeper hole…He’ll never make it. It’s over and the absolute best thing to do right now is rid this team of him NOW. Don’t wait till the end of the season, don’t, for god ‘s sake, put him back in at any point. Winston being on this team, is a team stuck in neutral at best or going into a further abyss…

  42. ndog Says:

All the Jameis haters got what they wanted, which of course is horrible for the team, so now what Ryan Fitzpatrick??? Well I hope he does great but history shows we are now starting all over again. Congrats you wished, hoped and dreamed your way all the way towards being the worst team in the league again, now with no QB on top of no defense, no kicker, no runningback, no RG, no RT and one defensive end who will be done by the time we even think about starting over with a new young QB, no MLB, one corner. You people have no idea what you were asking for, but you got it so congrats and yes Robert lets all celebrate our team being 100% trash again. SMH at you people.

  43. Buc4evr Says:

Jameis is gone, Koetter is gone, and maybe Licht at the end of the season. No way are the Glazers gonna pay these guys. Jameis can go be a backup on the Bills or Browns.

  44. Pete I Says:

“All the Jameis haters got what they wanted” Not yet, but it certainly is looking good. HE WAS BENCHED! AND NEEDS TO STAY THAT WAY!

  45. Joe Blahak Says:

…and starting over now, is better than being handcuffed to this fraud QB for another period of time…any period of time!

  46. Robert Says:

    @ndog

    whats next?

IMO they should start Fitz with the intent being to salvage winston. I.e. start Fitz from here on out with the stated goal being to win while developing winston and that when they get up and a game is in the bag they should put winston back in.

THATS RIGHT – put winston back in! provided he signs documents to the effect he will void the previous agreement where he 9is guaranteed 20 million if he is hurt. change it to say 10 mill. Its show me time for winston! that or the bench and career in shambles

they can salvage this guy if he is willing to learn……

  47. Fartman Says:

ndog – no amount of hoping and wishing was going to make Jameis a good QB. You just couldn’t see it. It’s not any ones fault in joebucsfan comment section that Jameis proved them right. He did that on his own.

  48. Gene Simmons Says:

The Bucs should have traded this bafoon known as Winston on the plane home but clearly they did not.. So trade him to JAX for a 2nd round pick or make him the 3rd string QB and deactivate him on Sundays with Fitz starting and Griffin as the backup, enough is enough…

  49. SteelStudBuc Says:

Fitz next game. No Jameis. Please… No Jameis.

  50. ChanEpic Says:

enough is enough. I was a HUGE JW fan but yesterday proved all of his detractors right and I am here to eat that humble pie being dished out. JW is trash, makes the exact same mistakes every game and puts his team in a losing position more often than not. Time to move on, as much as that hurts to say. That said, FITZ IS NOT TAKING THIS TEAM TO THE PLAYOFFS, just stop it. This whole team stinks, we have little to no dline pressure if it isn’t coming from JPP. We have 2 draft picks from 2018 who CANNOT PLAY FOOTBALL at this level. Our O-line has regressed. Our special teams are awfully underwhelming. The skill players on Offense deserve better but, sadly, that aint happening in 2018.

  51. Cobraboy Says:

I kicked and coached kicking/ST’s at the Div. I level.

Catanzaro has a follow-through issue. This is usually the case when a soccer kicker is consistently wide right, like a golfer with a slice. As with a slice the answer is not “aim more left.” The answer is proper technique.

Aguayo had a similar but different problem. Aguayo’s follow-through was too “up” and not toward the target, causing his misses to be all over the place. Then Aguayo tried to compensate with poor plant foot placement. He got so screwed up even a Kick Whisperer couldn’t fix his noggin.

I expect Santos to be the new kicker come Wednesday. Catanzaro has prolly already cleaned out his locker.

  52. spicoli Says:

I feel bad for the fans and Jameis. He was supposed to be it and he failed the fans. It was all empty promises, but he is who he is – America’s Turnover Machine. Favre and Manning threw tons of pics their first 3 yrs starting but they WON. Big difference and Jameis couldn’t do that for the Bucs. Time to find another answer once again for this franchise.

  53. D-Rome Says:

No excuses for missing Kwon. If it wasn’t good enough reason for the previous head coach, it shouldn’t be good enough reason for the current head coach.

Speaking of head coaches, if the failure to develop Jay-Miss WinsTOn lands on Dirk Koetter then the person this entire mess falls on is Jason Licht. The Buccaneers seemingly caved in to manufactured pressure to fire Lovie Smith to hire Dirk Koetter, and that has backfired on them. In hindsight, I’m not sure why Jason Licht would think a head coach could continue Jay-Misses development when he has to plan and prepare for the entire team.

Jason Licht heavily favored one side of the football over the past several years to the detriment of the defense where amazingly we have the best offense and the worse defense in football at the same time.

Lastly, ndog you are probably a troll. In case you aren’t a troll I think there are very few Jameis haters. Just about every JBF reader hates bad football and bad quarterback play. I think most of your so-called haters are people who are appalled that the Bucs succeeded with “Weapons for WinsTOn” to the detriment of the defense only to see that Jay-Miss cannot take advantage of these weapons. Very few were rooting for Jay-Miss to fail.

  54. Anthony Liga Says:

    Joe,

Most of the media is not picking up on this. First of all as a historically supportive fan of Jameis, let me say this…he is now 3rd string. Fitzpatrick takes the reins, but Ryan Griffin could be the teams QB of the future. He has promise, but must be developed, lets not forget him. Winston must be dealt, his decision making is faulty which goes back to his FSU days; and its not going to get better. Use Griffin when you can, if at all this year…but this is now Fitzpatick’s team period. If we lose more and are out of the playoffs, start Griffin. What is there to lose?

  55. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

nDog….as a bucs fan I 100% wanted winston to succeed and do so at a high level, I really do believe that jason licht has a great deal of responsibility for not building a team that can support mistakes that a young qb makes. Licht did not give the team a defense in fact built an historic nfl worst one, he gave no running game which young qbs need, and the OL that protects your franchise qb, is terrible…licht did winston ZERO favors, however, winston also continues to make the same mistakes he has made since he entered teh NFL, sucks as a bucs fan and I hoped he would be the guy but it is pretty clear he is not and definitely licht is horrible and now the bucs are another 2-5 years from having a playoff team

  56. Jason Says:

The only meaningful question to ask right now is whether the Bucs have a realistic chance to make the playoffs at this point in time. If you think they still have a chance, then the second question to be asked is which QB has the better chance of leading this team to the post-season.

If you’re in the “No way they make the playoffs” camp, then what’s the harm in letting Jameis play and letting him f–k it up real good? Then by the end of the season, everyone knows he’s not the guy, and you move on. There is no debate at that point. If he does improve, then you really haven’t lost anything, right?

The Bucs are already 3 games behind NO in the South Div, so winning the Div is probably out. So when do the Bucs fold their hand for 2018 and start planning for next year?

  57. '79Defense Says:

You could say here we go again, but the “again” has been continuous for years and years and years…

It looks like the Neverending Rebuild will continue.

Joes, bless you both for devoting your lives to this eternal struggle. –For that matter, bless us readers. At least the Joes get paid for all the suffering.

  58. AlteredEgo Says:

You do understand the curse of the Bucs and what will happen…
Fitz will play well and lead the team back into the play off talk…
then he will get hurt and Jameis will come back in
and play well and get the Bucs into the wild Card game
    prolonging the torture

I’ve been indirectly called a racist and hater when in fact I only pointed out what the Jameis first guys (Stat Carriers) simply could not see going back to college
    inaccurate
rarely hits the WR in stride enabling YAC’s
makes busted plays worse trying to play backyard hero
    Focuses on favorite WR’s
    I’ll stop

this season is over, time to move on from winston, koetter and licht. I dont blame djax for wanting out. he knows jameis sucks and cannot hit him on a regular basis. How come fitz seems to have these guys wide open but when jameis is in he cant find them or he overthrows them

  60. T REX Says:

ndog – Better to know now. Imagine how crippled this franchise would be if they gave him $150 million?

I never liked the FSU jackwagons putting a player ahead of the team.

    Don’t ever do it again.

  61. Oneilbucs Says:

Ndog these people on this site never wanted him any way. You they got what they wanted. Think about it this is the only fan base that think fizpatrick is good . Watch what happen Jamies will be back in real soon .

  62. gambelero Says:

We forget about the fifth year option. If we play Jameis and he gets injured, we’re on the hook for a huge salary with no return. If they decide he’s not worth the $24m for next year, and right now it sure doesn’t look like he is, we really can’t play him this year. Rather than let him sit, trade him to a team like Jacksonville that would really love to have him.

And he’d love to go there.

  63. isrBuc Says:

    Ndog
Enough with the history. Fitzpatrick never had the weapons he has now. He has arrived. he plays like league MVP. It is what it is. I wish JW was playing like that with the same weapons. Stop predicting. the truth is just infront of you.
What does JW do that fitz cant? what is the difference in talent? if fits feels comfortable in this system to play like this, and if he can play for another year or two- whats wrong with that??

  64. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Ndog and Oneill

    You two deserve each other….

So tired of the “You got what you wanted ” rhetoric…

We wanted a QB that plays like a #1 pick. What we got was an average to below avg QB who turns the ball over and has off field issues.

None of that is on the fans, that is all on your Messiah JW. So please knock off this idea that the fans made this happen. Or pack your sh!t up and go with your boy, wherever he goes.

  65. Jmarkbuc Says:

Play the two Ryans’s for the rest of the season. Deactivate JW and wrap him in bubble wrap, save 21 million.

“We only lost 2 games with Winston as a starter”

    count much?

He lost 3 out of 4

    Apparently you don’t.

Fitz started the Chicago game. We were down 38 – 3 at halftime. Then Jameis came in. He did not lose that game.

time to draft the next josh freeman, chris simms, trent dilfer, vinny testaverde, doug williams, when it comes to drafting qb’s we are the browns

  68. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

Always been in Jameis’ corner, but his regression has lost me. If he even played at the level he already established Id be good giving more time to develop.

He has been god awful this year and I cant do it anymore.

  69. firethecannons Says:

Answer=Play Fitz next week against Carolina, if he gets wild and throws a ton of int then get Ryan Griffin up to speed–that dude deserves an opportunity. Sell Jameis NOW. Replace kicker NOW Sell other parts including GMC, Brate and anyone else worth a dime–DJax only for a bunch

  70. stpetebucsfan Says:

Perhaps we need a timeout here!!! Some facts!!!

Simply believing an athlete is not talented enough to do the job he’s hired for does not make one a “hater” of that athlete!!!!

Simply not believing an athlete is the right guy for the job does not mean those observers want the Bucs to lose or struggle finding a good QB.

NDOG….you clearly are NOT a Fitz fan. I suspect some of that is due to your love of JW and that’s ok. But because you feel that way about Fitz does that mean you hate him? Does it mean if we move on from Jameis you want us to lose and and struggle rebuilding? I don’t think so.

We should all just take a deep breath and find a little objectivity.
I realize it’s sports….perhaps the only thing that fires up passions more than politics and religion…but we can chill a bit.

Now there are several trolls who DO come here to boast about how smart they are and who believe insulting somebody else or their opinion means anything.

I’m not a Jameis hater nor a lover either…when I’ve lost objectivity however it’s been because I WANTED JW to be an all pro HOF player. That’s not happening so it’s time for me to move on, admit my error and get over it. And that’s how I feel today. If JW leaves us and goes on to a SB I’ll be happy for him and feel no regrets. I only care about how the Bucs play not how FORMER Bucs play. Good luck to Jameis wherever he plays…here or someplace else.

To the moron trolls who wish to criticize NDOG or 87…or DB55 because they still support Jameis is just stupid and that IMHO is what hating is really about. Enjoying our suffering because JW”s failures validates their points? Really? Your ego is more important than how your friends are feeling today? I know how passionate 87, NDOG, DB55 and plenty of others have been about JW. I feel their pain…and as a Buc fan I suffer along with them.

In the words of the late great Chris Thomas….BITE ME!!!!

  71. nate s Says:

Fitz makes the bucs fun.. and at the end of the day its entertainment! give the fans what they want!

  72. TOM Says:

I also think Fitz should be the starter, but for God’s sake do not clammer for Winston to start if Fitz throws an interception. Give the guy a reasonable chance.
