Doug Martin impresses his teammates, maybe more than he does fans.

Lavonte David laid it out on the Buccaneers Radio Network last night.

“It’s crazy, man. When you actually see him practice, like the way he do, man, you guys have to see the way Doug practice, man,” David said. “Doug practice at game tempo every time. So, when he break runs like that, it’s really no surprise. Because you see it in practice. You know, his moves, his jump cuts. Breaking out of tackles, things like that, man. You know, happy for Doug, the Dougernaut. Don’t call him Muscle Hamster no more. Call him Dougernaut.”

Joe’s watched Martin practice many, many times. Clearly, Martin jacked up his effort a small notch this season. His revived quickness from a rigorous offseason fitness regimen makes it all look that much better.

Good times for Bucs fans. And hey Mark Dominik haters. The Rockstar wasn’t so bad, huh?

People good at their jobs keep getting hired in their industry. We can judge his acumen by his future job offers from NFL teams.

I mean, look at the other GM jobs Matt Millen got……..

I think getting rid of Dennis Hickey was great move, the last couple drafts have been great. I do think hickey was involved in the Martin draft but I don’t think he had a big of role as he did in the past. A couple more good drafts and we might have a competitive team for years to come.

  3. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Dominik stated many times that he would have taken Mariota if he was still the GM. To say I am thankful he was not around to make the mistake is the understatement of the century. Thank god that L&L knew who to take.

  4. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

Also a good point point TDTB!

  5. Vincente Says:

This guy is solid. He has everything a running back in NFL should have. Good attitude, relentless work ethic, humble spirit, quickness, and probably one of the strongest guys in the league!

  6. Bo Says:

    As for Dominik…
Even the sun shines on a dogs ass every once in a while!

  7. Big Marlon B Says:

even Lavonte is saying put that corny “Muscle Hamster” $hit to bed. Dougernaut is a great nickname. too bad it will never stick, because BSPN and all the other garbage out there have already ran with the name he hates.

  8. Buccfan37 Says:

Dougernaut? What is that, like an astronaut or cosmonaut. It’s weak and does not do Martin justice. It’s pitiful up against the MH.

  9. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

    @37

    Juggernaut

  10. WalkdaPlank Says:

Dominik was such a good GM he got fired, and is still out of the league.

  11. Dave Says:

Play like that and I’ll call him anything he likes. Still think he is kissing the boat in muscle hamster. Fantastic nickname.

  12. Buc1987 Says:

I’m in awe that Realist is nowhere to be found for the past 2 and 1/2 days.

We he ever break his silence or do we have to wait until after a possible Bucs loss to see him again?

  13. Buc1987 Says:

Dave …what happens when you kiss a boat? lol jk

  14. Buccfan37 Says:

Juggernaut, that’s cool, kind of sounds like a small breasted female.

  15. Jbeachbuc Says:

IDK about the “Realist” man… I too was wondering where he could be, now I’m beginning to actually worry…

I can just picture a lonely man on the sunshine skyway mumbling “fire Lovie ” ‘fire Dominic” “fire Lovie” ” fire Dom…”
As he creeps closer and closer to the rail.

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Baaahhh….Baaahhh…..Baaahhh….

    Realist……that’s the sound of Lovie’s sheep….

Come out and play with us again…..your mourning of our win should be over by now….

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Musclenaut…….

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Since the Realist isn’t here to dis the “Pop” Star…..I will….

Yes, Doug Martin was a good pick……so was LVD, GMC……where are all of the others? He left us in absolutely miserable shape……thanks Dom….enjoy your broadcast career.

  19. BucrazeDave Says:

@37 this should clear it up for you
    Juggernaut:
a massive inexorable force, campaign, movement, or object that crushes whatever is in its path.

  20. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

    @87

He and the others will show after a loss. That’s what is sad. If you are Bucs fan you should be happy for the win, no matter how you feel about a coach.

    Musclenaut…….

Hey..I think you’re on to something. Perfect!!!

  22. Newbucsfan2 Says:

    DM = Musclenaut

    JW=Maverick

  23. iamabuc Says:

For me , Doug Martin resembles more like “Sonic the hedgehog”…….lol

  24. Eric Says:

    Mark who?

  25. Buccfan37 Says:

Dougernaut is boring, the naut ending is too much like the word naught which means zero. Musclenaut not good enough either. How about Dynamo Doug the Dartful Digger or just plain old muscle hamster.

  26. Trubucfan22 Says:

Cant be sonic… Getting chased down on those 2 long runs… Not sonic speed for sure.

  27. waterboy Says:

I’m worried about Realist and DallasBucs also, I’ve been scanning the site the past couple days to hear what they had to say after this game.

As far as Dougernaut I don’t like it, Muscle Hamster was better. Joe should run a campaign to come up with a new nickname for Martin.

  28. godzilla13 Says:

Per PFF – Doug Martin racked up 235 yards on the ground on Sunday, the most of any running back this season. Martin had 162 yards after contact, and forced six missed tackles on the day. His elusive rating tops the league at 79.4 this season with an average of 3.32 yards after contact. Martin’s incredible performance played a key part in the Bucs’ big win over the Eagles.

THE PIT BULL IS ON FIRE!

  29. Fsuking Says:

People who were almost good at their jobs get hired by ESPN (with the obvious exception of retired athletes). Welcome to the crew Mark!

  30. Fsuking Says:

And yea, Doug Martin does NOT have exceptional speed. But u know who does? Dalvin Cook! We could have Jamal Charles, Shady McCoy and Doug Martin on our team and it would still be dumb to not take Dalvin Cook. I just really wanna make it clear that we must not look at who we have, but who is on the board when the 2017 draft comes around.

  31. DavidbigBucsFan Says:

Dougie Fresh for president. That’s what some of the players call him. Dougie Fresh is the name of a popular rap star in the late 80s. I don’t understand how some don’t like Dougernaught. If you ever read any Spider-Man comics or seen X Men you would know why it’s a good nickname. BucCrazeDave got it right. If you’re a real man what would your pride rather have Muscl Hamster a furry cuddly little rodent on steroids or a huge massive beast that runs ruffshod on everbody like Dougernaut? Yo Bo you are a funny dude!

  32. The Real Malloy Says:

Martin Scores-Easy…see what I did there?

  33. Bob in Valrico Says:

martin hates muscle hamster nickname. i believe he picked this nickname.
    bot how about the decimator
