“I’m A Baller, A Shot-Caller… “

June 20th, 2015

Well, finally, the butterfly escaped the cocoon.

Around the Tampa Bay area, specifically at One Buc Palace, “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, has been mostly quiet and quite respectful when talking to the fourth estate.

However, at a recent rookie symposium Winston was required to attend, Winston cut a video for NFL Network, in which the same Jameis that captivated the nation was exposed for the world to see.

Among the things Jameis talked about was how he is looking forward to playing J.J. Watt more than any other opposing player, how he’s about wins not stats, how he loves his Bucs teammates and coach Lovie Smith, and most of all, brimming with brash confidence and passion, Jameis even sang about himself.

“I’m a baller… a shot-caller… “

You can enjoy the video by clicking here.

Jameis is no shrinking violet. And Joe loves it.

Awesome. This team has been lacking in testosterone for about a decade now. Hope the attitude spreads through the locker room like wild fire and sets a new level for toughness and pride.

  2. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

Careful what you wish for Jameis…JJ Watt + bad O line + slowest QB on Bucs roster (that would be Winston for those not paying attention) is a perfected storm for a QB injury.

  3. Buccfan37 Says:

There is nothing wrong with having a heap of in your face chutzpa when you can back it up on the field. That’s what Buc fans are counting on.

  4. ben Says:

Lets hope the bucs don’t end up being losers and have no class also

  5. Stanglassman Says:

I’m not sure how saying that he loves football, his teammates, coaches and the fans is classless. Maybe it was the part about how he was looking forward to playing against great players like JJ Watt or that he was really looking forward to working hard to prove himself on the field as a good player than talking about it. Or was it more about winning than personal statistics?

I am more embarrassed of our the classlessness of the Buc fans 9 times of 10 than any of the players.

  6. Tom Edrington Says:

Jameis better not be bringing himself to JJ Watt’s attention……whoever has to block Watt will be incredibly grateful, no doubt. Or not.

  7. Destinjohnny Says:

Was just in nashville all week and Mariota is lighting it up. Zach was a solid qb last year and they are saying that Marcus is so much better then him its scary.
They are giving him all the snaps no questions asked.
Meanwhile in Tampa Glennon is out playing Winston.

  8. Buc1987 Says:

Who here still cares about Mariota?

    Answer : TennesseeJohnny

  9. Destinjohnny Says:

mate if we blew that pick and I’m not saying we have that is gong to be a bitter pill to swallow for a long long time

  10. SOEbuc Says:

With this great attitude and spirit, I really have no doubt that this kid is gonna be a baller/shot caller. Maybe (I emphasize maybe) not a pro bowl rookie year, but definitely not a bust

  11. warren Says:

By comparison the Mariota video is dullll and lifeless and full of stock boooring answers. JW’s answers were thoughtful, off the cuff, and entertaining. Once his play is as good as we all hope it will be (PLEASE God let it be so)…he will be a giant media star. GIANT.

  12. what? Says:

“Lets hope the bucs don’t end up being losers and have no class also”

In 2013 we were best known for getting half the team infected with, and ending Lawrence Tynes career via, the MRSA.

In 2012 we were best known for diving at the knees of opponents victory formations.

And IIRC the coach who saw over those glorious seasons was hired to turn around the entire Rah-era culture of the 2011 Rah-Bucs, a culture of — wait for it — losing, with no class.

If your worst fears are that we’ll be “losers with no class”, your nightmare came to fruition on 1-17-09. What we’ve got here…is something completely different.

  13. Eric Says:

    Awesome video.

Gotta love it when Jaboo gets that crazy wild look in his eyes.

  14. Mo_Downs Says:

    No RG..Check..!!
    No C..Check..!!
    No RT..Check..!!!
Week 3 = JJ Watt – The Hungry Lion
Week 3 = Jaboo – He who wears steak underwear
Week 3 = NFL DPOTW – JJ Watt
    Week 4 = “America’s Quarterback Ver. 2.0” – Mike Glennon

I think our OL might have a few words for Jaboo about teasing the critters.

  15. Dave Pear Says:

    Never poke the bear!

  16. WS99 Says:

In order to be the best you have to beat the best. And that’s what Jameis does best.

  17. HarlemBuc Says:

Are we really still talking about the Tennessee Titans QB on this site? Look the pirate ship is sailing and we are coming directly for Nashville…
So why not trade your pewter for baby blue or whatever the titans wear? I’m sure they could use fans… Especially after Jameis throughly outplays him and wins ROY on his way to becoming one of the nfl next young stars…

  18. Buc1987 Says:

    I wish I was a little bit taller….

  19. Ray Rice Says:

I feel sorry for Dotson and whoever plays RG against the Texans. Oh man! FUKET! Go big or don’t go at all. Gotta start taking out the big dogs to be considered a big dog. I also think that game will be great for Aunt Geraldine to see from up close as he gets a glimpse of a worthy $100 million defensive lineman and real leader. Not a self proclaimed one.

  20. WS99 Says:

I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat and a six four Impala

  21. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Ya see this is why I love this young man to hell wit that kid chit. It’s called “fearless” when you mention the name of the guy regarded as the best defensive player in the game. And he happens to be on your schedule for that up coming season. Ain’t no Gods in the NFL,just men just mortals.

  22. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @87

OK I’ve been on it for awhile, technically as a Bucs fan since the draft, but as the weeks have unfolded I’ve really grown comfortable on the Fameis bandwagon.

This piece cements. That was truly awesome. Said all the right things with all the right feelings…confidence not arrogance…and he does have that transcendent “it” factor.

10 wins this year baby. One and done in the playoffs. But like the Lightning we learn from the experience, and then in the next off season we pick up the missing pieces, just like Yzerman did with the Lightning after their sweep by the Canadiens. 10 wins this year…and then next year…we are a true threat!

  23. Buc1987 Says:

StPeteBucsFan …lol twas only a matter of time. I get how some things he says can come off as arrogant, but it probably isn’t. He’s confident, cocky, but down to earth all at the same time.

Like Dilfer said : “he’s just got this infectious personality”

Fans are going to fall in looooove with this kid.

I’m really not worried in the slightest that he will get into any kind of major incident from here on out.

I’m more worried that once he finds his groove in the NFL, that’s when he’s going to get flagged for taunting. He will taunt. Fans are gonna love him though.

We’re all going to have to deal with opposing fans though when we tailgate. I can see many fights going on in the stands at Ray Jay the first year, and probably more. They better beef up police presence.

  24. SOEbuc Says:

Im from Houston so this game was already marked on my calendar, but now week 3 at the Texans might be game of the year

  25. BUCSLEGENDS Says:

Ray Rice, SELF PROCLAIMED ?!?!?!?! The players vote for the Top 100. Lets se……, F it I don’t have the energy. GO BUCS !!!!!!!!!
