Is Gerald McCoy Recruiting Greg Hardy With “Everything In My Power?”

March 18th, 2015

McCoypointGerald McCoy is sick and damned tired of losing, so he told the world this month.

And now it seems a fresh Twittering from McCoy implies he’s helping the Bucs get something important done.

Joe thinks that’s bringing a manbeast pass rusher named Greg Hardy to Tampa Bay.

Folks can click through above to McCoy’s Twitter timeline to read more about his mindset. Heck, McCoy wants Adrian Peterson, too.

Remember, Greg Hardy wants to play with McCoy. That JoeBucsFan.com exclusive is old but relevant. You can pick up the video at about the 40-second mark below.

Gerald McCoy the best GM ever!

  5. nate Says:

    You can do it!

  6. tmaxcon Says:

If the glazers are as competitive as some suggested, how do you think they feel getting rejected time after time by good players. In addition, they can’t enjoy giving away 57 million for players to rehab and or quit over the last 3 years.

Time to cut bait glazers. save the season, save the bay fire Lovie now.

    Glad McCoy is working it.

  7. kaput Says:

We need players, and Hardy can play.

How many millions are we under the cap? 50? Didn’t we begin the new year 33 million under? And we’ve waived Johnson, Collins and Gholston. That’s a lot of dough.

  8. Buccfan37 Says:

Is this yet another failed tease of talent hungry Bucs fans? Make him an offer difficult to refuse if it fits in with the overall Bucs finances.

  9. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

With that amount of cap room we can sign Hardy to a lucrative contract and still have enough for the draft and making LVD a very rich man!!!!!

  10. Bucbob1 Says:

Gerald McCoy can recruit all he wants, and that’s great, but it remains to be seen if Lovie Smith is really aon board.

  11. Buc1987 Says:

The Pats have no problem hiring players with checkered pasts that are talented, that’s why they’re winners…

Get off your high horse people, watch the effing game and stop worrying about what the guy does or did in his private life.

Just watch the game and enjoy.

  12. Bruno Says:

I use to have a saying in school. If you’re going to be late for class, you might as well be really late – the punishment is the same. It’s similar in this case as the Bucs are already contructing a PR campaign for JW – what’s one more. :-). Hoping for Hardy here.

  13. Buctebow Says:

I find it highly doubtful that there will be a result other than Hardy signing in Dallas. Most of the commotion is likely started by his agent to drive up the price. Sorry folks, no DE savior in FA this year.

“Gerald McCoy can recruit all he wants, and that’s great, but it remains to be seen if Lovie Smith is really aon board.”

Well Bob there is this….so you tell me…

“While Cowboys are favorite to land Greg Hardy with him in Dallas, it’s worth noting: Tampa Bay will not go away quietly. Bucs still in this.” Adam Schefter

Now you tell me if it remains to be seen…..

  15. tmaxcon Says:

It’s going to be a rough few years. I just have to accept it. Until Lovie is gone. this will be the routine. Bad drafts, bad fa signings and losing with BS on the verge garbage monologues

What really sucks is McCoy is going to end up like gruber once team is finally good he will have to retire.

  16. LargoBuc Says:

I think Lovie would love to have Hardy. A dominant edge rusher is a must in his defense and he knows he wont survive another season like last season. 2, 3, 4 even 5 wins wont cut it and Lovie knows it.

  17. Buc1987 Says:

“What really sucks is McCoy is going to end up like Gruber once team is finally good he will have to retire.”

tmaxcon….I’ve thought about Gruber more than once when it comes to McCoy. It really is a shame.

  18. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    Tmax

Luv ya dude but you need to get treated for your LDS. Lovie Derangement Syndrome.

We could certainly debate Lovie’s skill as a coach and you would have a lot of ammo to support your position.

However it’s simply untrue to think players might avoid Tampa because of the head coach. That is perhaps the major area where Lovie DOES give us an advantage. Players like Lovie.

It generally comes down to two things…first and always the MOST important…SHOW ME THE MONEY!!! Remember Jerry McGuire?

Secondly competive possibilities for the team.

Third…a bunch of intangibles where we stack up really well. No income tax, water, sunshine…again look outside your window and what do you see?

    Another day in paradise.

And so Tmax rant on about Lovie sucking as a coach but he’s not a road block to us getting Hardy in here.

  19. patrickbucs Says:

I just hope they sign him with a front loaded contract that Dallas cannot match this year without having to cut a key player or 2. We are not getting a top ranked DE in the draft this year and even if we did who knows how he would adjust to the NFL this year or next. With Hardy you have a proven Pro Bowl player although my concern is how long is his possible suspension going to be? Big Ben got 4 I believe for something much worse and paid her off as well. I hope he doesn’t get any if he signs with us but maybe has to play but fork over a few game checks.

  20. StPeteBucsFan Says:

A question for all. If Lovie or Licht or the Glazers were absolutely AGAINST signing Hardy for off field reasons do we not suspect they would have given the memo to Geraldini?

Then again perhaps GMC is part of an elaborate smoke screen to convince Buc fans that we at least made a major effort to get him. While that is a possibility IMO the Bucs are going after him or they would have told Geraldini to shut it down.

  21. lurker Says:

    via rotoworld:
Greg Hardy – DL – Free Agent

Free agent DE Greg Hardy will sign with either the Bucs or Cowboys on Wednesday.

That comes straight from the mouth of Hardy’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Hardy remains in Dallas after visiting the Cowboys on Tuesday and is taking a physical for the team this morning. He hasn’t taken a trip to Tampa, so it’s possible he’s using the Bucs as leverage against the Cowboys. Dallas is the clear leader for the 26-year-old. Hardy is a premier sack master and is equally elite in run defense.

Cowboys arent going anywhere the next 3 years….we are, and will have the better QB.

  23. patrickbucs Says:

    @stpetefan

You are right we can sell great weather and sunshine but we cannot sell no state taxes aganst Dallas because they do not either. Hopefully we will know soon. I’ve prepared myself for another dissapointment which is just sad.

  24. BroyWillNotEntertainStupidity Says:

people people people…how in gods name is it lovies fault that Greg Hardy might sign w dallas? hes doing what he could….and trust me people they aren’t gonna announce when a free agent chose another team over them…guys like Wiz…and nobody wants to see these top free agents eat up any more cap money while theyre NOT EVEN ON THE ROSTER….GOLDSON NICKS ERIC WRIGHT GREG SCHIANO MICHAEL JOHNSON…take your time and develop its the only way….I wonder what Packer fans say every year when their team doesn’t sign top tier FA’s….nothing because that’s how it is supposed to be…but all u negative nellys need to remember….we are getting a QB-if that’s the only positive heading into next year(rookie success from Winston) im cool with that….however if they land hardy and draft line WE WILL win the division

  25. Bucky23 Says:

If you wanted Hardy why wait until now to go after him? Waited too long. He will be a Cowboy and we will have no pass rush off the edge for another year.

  26. drunkinybor Says:

@kaput—Dashon goldson is still on the team as of today. Basically no need to cut him…yet. If you are referring to william Gholston hell no he isnt cut. Hes a up and comer one of the young bright spots on the d-line

  27. bucrightoff Says:

It’s not about the next 3 years. Hardy is signing a short deal with a (very high profile) contender. He’s trying to maximize his potential to earn a huge deal next offseason. Why would he sign here for a short term deal? Low profile for a team that is bad and could actually hurt his value. Revis just showed you how to parlay betting on yourself into a massive deal.

So maybe we’ll get him next offseason. But unless the Bucs wanna offer a ridiculous contract, he’s a Cowboy for 2015 at least.

  28. Couch Fan Says:

They are saying Hardy is going to decide today between Tampa and Dallas. What I dont understand is how he can make a choice between 2 teams, 1 of which he has not met with. Has anyone signed with a team they didnt even meet with first? Sounds like BS to me.

  29. JJBucFan Says:

Anyone else think something is rotten in Denmark with Goodell when it comes to Hardy? Seems to me he is waiting for Hardy to sign until he decides which punishment to give. Is this because of CBA? or is it because if Dallas gets him, he will give 2 game and if the Bucs (or someone else) get him, he”ll give him 6+ games. The guy has all the facts- just give everyone involved the number of games already!! This guy can change EVERYTHING on Defence, he will make McCoy better, the LBs and DBs better. We need him!!

  30. patrickbucs Says:

    @BroyWillNotEntertainStupidity Says:

really GB fans don’t complain when they don’t sign free agents? You may want to check some other sites that Packer fans comment on. They resigned their two biggest this offseason but Packer fans would be livid if they didn’t.

    @couch

good point aout not visiting other then maybe he knows the stadium at least and Rosenhaus was at TPA yesterday I assume negotiating on his behlaf. Saw him there.

  31. Bucbob1 Says:

    @1987
I want Hardy here as bad as everyone else. But nothing has happened at this point other than speculation. I don’t really have much faith in Lovie Smith, but in this case I hope I am wrong

  32. BroyWillNotEntertainStupidity Says:

Patrick bucs—ummm ya I never mentioned them not being livid about signing their own…when you build through draft like GB OF COURSE theyd be angry…thanks captain obvious…nice try with the effort to trump me on sports knowledge

  33. tmaxcon Says:

    StPeteBucsFan

I disagree obviously. it’s lovie’s responsibility given the fact he has full control to field the best possible team and he has not done that.

I am in a unique position with Lovie. My business has offices in Tampa, Chicago and Austin, TX. I split time between tampa and austin. Anyhow that is irrelevant other than I have 9 employees who are die hard bears fans 2 have family that will their season tickets to next generation. they pray to ditka and walter payton those type of bears fans… So I have spent the last 10 years listening to them bitch about lovie. and have watched it first hand in tampa. Maybe that explains my lack of patience with him. I have seen it before first hand. I had to listen to it every day he was in chicago. Like tampa they all love him as a person but in chicago they could not have gotten him out of town soon enough. he is doing the same exact slow painful death to bucs. he has never once fielded a respectable o line please tell me what makes you think he will this year.

C’MON HARDY!!! IMAGINE OUR DEFENSE WITH HARDY,MCCOY,MELTON,AND SMITH WITH GREAT DEPTH BEHIND THEM. LETS GO SCREW THE COWBOYS. THEY LOST THERE WHOLE TEAM WHEN MURRAY LEFT HAHA.

APOLOGIES ABOUT THE CAPS LOCK, KEYBOARD S MESSED UP.

  36. Buc1987 Says:

Oh I’m with Couch on this unless he visits us….he ain’t playing here. Seeing how he’s taking a physical with Dallas today points in the direction of Dallas, but I’m holding out hope.

  37. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @Tmax

All valid points. At least that explains your hostility.

    @lurker says

“That comes straight from the mouth of Hardy’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus.”

But which side of his mouth was Rosenhaus speaking from? Talk about a double dealing untrustworthy dude. If I was a player I’d love to have him rep me but viewing him from the side of management…no way…and as a fan he has zero credibility with me.

He’s only saying whatever he thinks will get his client and by extension himself…the most money. Hey it’s America he’s allowed to go for all the gold he can get. He’s just too much like a sleazy snake oil salesman for my taste.
But again I’m not a player and he’s not making me rich. I get the difference.

  38. INDYbucsfan Says:

Pretty soon it’s going to be hardy, Peterson, and Winston all wearing buc jerseys.

  39. rayjay1122 Says:

Hardy and McCoy would be great to see beside one another on Sundays. Probably would be the closest DL tandem we have seen since Sapp and Rice. Get it done Bucs!!!

  40. gotbbucs Says:

Front loaded contract that the Cowboys can’t match.

  41. NCFlorIdiot Says:

I’m not understanding why Hardy is looking at a possible 4, 6, or 8 game suspension this coming season from the league? He missed 15 games last season due to his legal issues… Does that not count toward his suspension? And… his case was thrown out, so what merit does the NFL have to punish him at all? Can someone please clarify this for me?

  42. Iknowmorethanlovie Says:

Wish he had this much impact when the Bucs have a 4th quarter lead

  43. Bruno Says:

And with the fist pick in the 2015 NFL the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select, Dante Fowler Jr., Defensive End, Florida.

This is so illogical and stupid and defensive minded it scares me. It scares me b/c I trust L&L as much as a guy that has to put fruit in his beer (sigh).

Alright hear me out, L&L rings up JW and tells him, “hey, we’re going after Hardy and we can’t take the PR hit the two of you would bring.” Hence, JW says screw that !#$@ I’m staying home for the draft and dropping to a good team, I saw what happened to Aaron Rodgers . The Buc’s court MM just to keep a silly trade down scenario on life support – and throw in some Dungys to keep it convincing. Then, the Bucs dump loads of money on Hardy (too much probably). If Hardy is landed and Fowler is drafted the Bucs would have the one of the best if not the best defensive lines in football. (Fowler is no joke/just no QB). We invest the rest of our draft in and FA in OL, maybe pick up some FA OL freeing up draft options.

…and Lovie – keeping to his word, keeps Glennon as the QB of the FUTURE! To quote Monty Python, “and there was much rejoicing”

LOL – and yet… as a UF alum I could just imagine FSU rage. I’d like to see JW as Buc – and I think this would be disastrous – long term…but now that I wrote it, I imagine one could argue the point.

Meant if they didn’t sign anyone to replace them, which they probably wouldn’t have. Green Bay fans bitch all the time that they don’t spend money, they should have more then one Super Bowl with Aaron Rogers is my friends that root for them’s opinion. I’m glad you are the wizard of sports knowledge on everything though, appreciate it.

  46. Curtis Gatorboy Says:

    sign this man!

  47. StRicKn Says:

Gerald McCoy is friggin awesome!! I am so glad I was wrong when I wanted the Bucs to draft Suh over GMAC. McCoy is a great guy and a great example of how proffesionals should act! Hopefully today we can welcome The Kraken to Tampa.. Go Bucs!!

  48. MadMax Says:

Lol Bruno, thats one hell of a dark devils advocate scenario….and surely possible with Lovie. BUT, theres also LICHT (at the end of the tunnel)! He wouldnt allow it, the Hardy signing yes, but the rest no. Great creative thinking though.

  49. Couch Fan Says:

And with the fist pick in the 2015 NFL the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select, Dante Fowler Jr., Defensive End, Florida.

    —————————————————

If they choose to go in another direction than QB, which i would be severely angry with if they did, this would be a great pick. Fowler was nothing but a class at UF and a true leader. I also think he could easily be the best DE in this draft. The guy was dominate DE at UF. Would love to see him wearing a Bucs jersey. Rather have Winston though.

  50. Bucsfan4lyf Says:

“But then there are other times when he’s just unmanageable. And that’s why I think things have gotten in trouble with his personal life. He’s going have to go a long ways to earn the trust of any organization, whether it be Dallas or any other franchise across the league.

“His reputation has now become an Achilles heel. Trustworthy is kind of a sliding scale in the NFL. If you’re talented and you have the ability and some skills that no one else has, trustworthiness can be slid a little bit more. Like I said, there aren’t many people like him on the planet that can play and that can do the things that he does. But we are also in an NFL environment right now where any off-the-field liability is frowned upon very strongly.”

SIGN SELVIE INSTEAD AND DRAFT ANOTHER PASS RUSHER!!!

  51. Bruno Says:

    @Couch
At a UF vs. UK game my buddies and I harassed some freshman named Tim Couch so much his Dad (we later found out it was his dad) walked in front of us pounding his championship ring laden fists. We were gentlemen of course. We thought it was just some old UK fan with some basketball championship rings. If you’re of any relation, I’m sorry.

All that said, I truly hope the Bucs draft Winston or MM – mainly b/c of need. But I do have a sneaking suspicion that Fowler will be the best player to come out of this draft. I mean the guy runs 10 yards in like 1.5 seconds…which means nothing. However, having seen his every play in college. I just have this feeling. Like when I bought stock in Google(j/k)

  53. Joseph F. Says:

Even though Greg Hardy is worth having but it would be important to know what the league doe’s first. Other wise it could be wasted money if the NFL suspends Greg for a long period of time. Other then that he would fill a hole that is much needed.
