This is not a soccer blog. Joe knows most of you don’t enjoy soccer.

However, Joe knows there is curiosity about how the Glazer Boys run Manchester United versus how they run their small-budget enterprise, aka the Bucs.

Time to time, Joe will bring you interesting news from Manchester United. Once such item is here for you today.

The Glazers signed a Bulgarian forward, name unimportant, for about $50 million last summer before the new English season. The guy has been a bust, and is nearly getting run out of town for his penalty kick miss in a big game the other day.

Again, that’s $50 million large last summer just to buy his rights.

Maybe the fans of Manchester United won’t put up with the Glazers penny pinching ways the way fans of the Bucs do. They may have signed a bust with 50mil, but the fact that they obviously tried to land a top soccer player says to me they care a lot more about winning over there than they do here. We are slowly slipping back to the Cleverhouse days when profit margain was first and winning second. Until the seats on Sunday start coming up empty I believe the Glazers will continue to operate in this new direction of theirs. We are still winning the NFL cap championship!!

I wouldnt call Berbatov (AKA name unimportant) a bust… worth $50M? probably not.

Glazers overall got it right though. Most popular sports team in the world, going for 4 championships this year.
