Alex Smith Trade Rumors Resurface

April 22nd, 2009

It’s been swirling out there before, rumors of tight end Alex Smith being dangled by the Bucs before the NFL like a desperate man’s dollar bill at Mons Venus.

Those rumblings have returned, reports NationalFootballPost.com.

Joe concurs that it makes sense to trade Smith, if there’s a third or fourth round pick out there. Joe likes Smith, but if he’s not going to play sitting behind Jerramy Stevens, Sgt. Winslow and glorified pseudo tight end Michael Clayton, then send the man packing already.

Joe always found it comical that Smith sells “Alex Smith” autographed mini-helmets on his Web site for $49.95. No mention that any of the sale goes to charity. Nice.

  1. Mr Lucky Says:

Shuffle off to Buffalo for their 2nd Round pick – proven talent that Smith is and now they don’t have to pay Pettigrou so much as a Round 1 pick!!!!

  2. MTM Says:

Keep Smith as a back up. For the possibility of “Winsblowing” out his knee again.
    Need depth somewhere.
