Josh Freeman May Be Inactive

Bucs commander Greg Schiano is strict about who talks to the local fourth estate, and more importantly in Schiano’s ways, what the Bucs say to the fourth estate.

So when shirtless Josh Freeman blew off the local pen and mic club yesterday, then ran to BSPN, without the knowledge of the Bucs, apparently, it really rubbed the Bucs the wrong way. So much so that Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times said the Bucs are so peeved, Freeman may be the No. 3 quarterback and placed on the inactive list Sunday to pay for his sins.

Freeman was benched in favor of rookie Mike Glennon Wednesday but coach Greg Schiano said he would serve as the No. 2 quarterback. But that was before he broke his silence Thursday night in an exclusive interview with ESPN’s Josina Anderson that was not authorized by the team.

The Bucs encouraged Freeman to be available to the media both Wednesday and Thursday, but he declined.

“Josh just needed his voice to be heard,’’ agent Erik Burkhardt told the Times of the decision to make Freeman available to ESPN.

Needed to be heard??? What the hell were the 20 guys and girls standing around his locker there for yesterday, to sell him new aluminum siding on his house?

S(p)it, even the product of Seminole High, Jeff Darlington of NFL Network, was there with a massive camera crew. “Needed his voice to be heard” Joe’s rear end!

If this wasn’t checkbook journalism by BSPN — Joe wouldn’t be surprised if that outfit would do anything to get an interview with their sordid track record — then Freeman was paying the four-letter back for them producing his pedophile Michael Jackson spread.

After all, this season has turned into a thriller for Bucs fans, sans victories.

If he wants to be heard, he would have been better off talking to the local reporters like a man. I think he lost more respect and money by the way he sounded in that interview. I was a supporter of Josh but I fully stand by what has transpired. I hope Glennon tears it up on Sunday…good riddance Josh

  2. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Freeman has been inactive since August. Check his stats.

Luther….I saw part of that interview last night. There really does appear to be something else wrong with this guy. It has been showing at the podium as well dating back to last season.

At this point, the best bet is to send Freeman home ala Keyshawn Johnson in 2003 and attempt to work out a trade or just wait until he leaves and hope for a solid 2015 comp pick. My best guess is that we’ll know a whole lot more for why Freeman regressed the way he did (it isn’t all on coaching, something is going on off the field) once he is no longer a member of the Bucs.

JOE YOU GUYS ARE KINDA PATHETIC ALSO

you’ve been pissing on the guy every season then when he gets benched your mad because he doesnt want to talk to the very people that are helping fuel his push out of town? how did this city get so freaking petty?

  6. Couch Fan Says:

Freeman did what he thought was best. In the same way Schiano benching him was thought to be what was best. Good for Josh. I really could careless about interviews. If he wants a trade and someone is willing to give us something (anything) for him, then ship him off. I just dont think anyone in there right mind would trade for him

    LMAO….:)

  8. buc4lyfe Says:

at this point why would he care what anyone in florida thinks, he’s not from here and he doesnt owe you or this organization anything now that they’ve turned their backs on him…let him go in peace

  9. thegregwitul Says:

Still, let’s not forget that Freeman ignored the teams request to speak with the media and gave an exclusive interview to ESPN without the team signing off, and he is a paid employee of the Buccaneers. I’m sure he just wanted to speak without having to regurgitate the company line, but there could have been a better way to go about doing that.

Send him home with pay, get him out of that locker room and consider any trade offer that comes in. Worst case, there isn’t a trade and Freeman walks next season and the Bucs get a 2015 comp pick.

    @ 87

“there must be something else wrong with him”…

I have racked my brain…could it be that Josh is gay & the loss of his lovers Talib & Winslow was too much to bare?

  11. MadMax Says:

Can we be done with this prima donna already….I mean really!?!?

THE TEAM has WORK to do….good grief, if its really that bad just cut his azz!!!

  12. Biff Barker Says:

The Tampa Bay media has been above and beyond fair in their dealings with Freeman. Sympathetic in fact. In kind, Coach Hard Ass gets the both barrels drawn down on him by our apologist media, his fate similar to that of a sickly swine.
Hilarious that his long term personal shill and venomous Schiano slayer Duemeg didn’t get a phone call. How’d that work out Big Dog?
    The remedy is simple….
    Build a catapult.
    Load party boy.
Point it toward the Bay. (South)
Wind the spring really fooking tight.
    Pull.
    Adios.

    Whao! “Pedophile Michael Jackson video”?
I detect a little venom there about Freeman! I am amazed at how the media just enjoys piling on a Young Man struggling with a Very Difficult stanza of his Life. Yes, Young Man! Geez, he is 25yrs Old for crying out loud! He isn’t some villian, he’s just a Talented immature Millionaire who doesn’t respond well to skullduggerry!!!

    Good Luck Josh!

All the glowing praise and even a hint of League MVP consideration just under 10 Months ago has spiraled into THE KID IS A BUM! Yeah Right.

  18. MadMax Says:

Glad you came around Buc1987 :)

I knew it when I was watching it that something just wasnt right….then seeing Coaching and management ignore it? Shoot! I was calling for their heads!!! Now, Im feeling better :)

I guess you only see what you choose too.
Joe’s been consistently saying that Freeman should play the entire season because he gave us the best chance to win. Joe also stated that Schiano knew this all along and didn’t want to put this season in the hands of a rookie.
But… something happened… and Freeman blew his chance royally.
Don’t always agree with everyone? Fine. But please stick with the truth as opposed to a personal agenda.

  20. bucrightoff Says:

Freeman is ensuring he’ll be a backup with how he’s handling this.

  21. RBellBuc Says:

Are you kidding? The local media is the enemy. lol

  22. bucbucbuc Says:

Let’s continue to pile on Freeman. That’s what Schiano wants. Let’s all conveniently forget that he is the one responsible for this mess and our joke of a season. Unbelievable.

  23. bucrightoff Says:

Josh Freeman being the 33rd best QB in the NFL has just a little more to do with it than Schiano. But keep living in denial if you’d like.

  24. bucbucbuc Says:

Whose ultimately in charge of that putrid offensive scheme that resulted in Josh being 33rd? Schiano. In case you haven’t noticed, a ton of national stories are coming out right now about how the scheme itself is what’s ailing this offense.

  25. bucrightoff Says:

Because the incumbent QB was extremely limited. We’re going to see the offense open up because Glennon makes multiple reads and can complete the 5-15 yard pass above 40% unlike Josh.

  26. RBellBuc Says:

Oh so now the Bucs will change the offensive play calling to shine Glennon in a more positive light. If that happens then Schiano should be run out on a rail, cause in essence he could have done that with Freeman and we maybe sitting at 2-1 or 3-0. The offensive scheming is terrible and Schiano with his controlling self will never give any of his QB’s the autonomy to change plays. This team will never have an elite QB allowed to think for himself as long as Schiano’s the dictator.

  27. Tampamac Says:

    Per Rahb- Good Luck Josh!

Rahb, HUGE difference there. Williams was a proven winner that had taken a team 3 years removed from expansion to an NFC Championship game and had a cheap owner who didn’t want to pay him. Josh’s claim to fame is 1 winning season(against the easiest schedule in the league that year) in his 5 years in the league… Williams could actually read defenses and scan the field unlike a soon to be ex-Buc.

I’m hearing rumors from some show business connections about an upcoming ABC Entertainment newsflash.

Watch Free on the sidelines closely, to see if he is practicing his cha-cha moves. I wonder if he can complete the dreaded passo-doble?

Hint: Keyshawn just got sent home early.

  31. buc4lyfe Says:

LOL WOW WE’VE NEVER TALKED ABOUT A QUARTERBACK THIS MUCH IN THE BUCS HISTORY….ALL THE ATTENTION HE’S GETTING INSTEAD OF GLENNON SAYS IT ALL. IF YOU THINK RICH PEOPLE LIKE GIVING AWAY MONEY AND LOSING YOUR CRAZY…SAY WHAT YOU WANT BUT IF GLENNON COMES OUT AND IS SO AWFUL THAT YOU NEED ORVLOSKY THEN AGAIN WE CANT BLAME GLENNON, ITS ON SCHIANO THATS THE WAY IT GOES….YOU HAVE TO PAY THE COST TO BE THE BOSS. ITS LIKE TELLING SOMEONE YOU HATE TO GO OUT AND MAKE YOU LOOK LIKE A WINNER UNTIL I REPLACE YOU…..I WONDER IF HE CHILDREN ARE SCARED TO TALK TO GRANDMA WITHOUT HIS PERMISSION
