Football In The Fruitdome

September 9th, 2010

Bucs coach Raheem Morris apparently wanted his team to get used to soulless football earlier today by having the Bucs work out in the Fruitdome. A JoeBucFan.com commenter suggested it was a way for the Bucs to get used to Sunday’s crowd noise. The St. Petersburg Times produced a video about the surprise practice move.

Definitely beats practicing in the 95 degree heat.

A nice break from the Tampa Heat for the Bucs. Nonetheless, Pat Kirwain has predicted a Cleveland Victory on Sunday …….

Joe, you doing a thread on the game tonight?

@ Joe , all you are doing is making the average fan feel bad for attending a Rays game at the Trop !! Why as a Bay area blogger do you keep putting this great place to watch baseball down ?? Is it to far from your house ? wtf ?? Go Rays !! I love the TROP !!

    Joe,
    You know the rule.
No mean nicknames of any kind!

    Fruit dome…lol
Joe must have been feared in high school and college
    for his nicknaming prowess.

That’s ironic, there won’t be any crowd at sunday’s game.

Joe lives minutes from the Fruitdome and it is a pit beyond words.

Go see a game at PNC Park and try to tell Joe what a great place that tomb in St. Petersburg is. Yick!

This is not a Saints nor a Vikings site.

I used to watch minor league games at Al Lang. Outdoor baseball in Florida in July is horrible . Not just the heat, but the bugs are unbearable. Just my two cents .

Have to concur about the white elephant off of Central Avenue. Recently I went to a game at Minute Maid Park. It has the retractable roof and it was very nice. Houston has the same issues in terms of bugs/heat/rain in the summer and this appears to work very well.

Maybe they will use that type design and move the new stadium to a more suitable/accessible location

@ Pruitris Ani, A retractable roof stadium is the only answer. I live in south central Fl and the location of the Trop is awsome !! I have a much harder time getting to Ray Jay. Or CITS as its called on here. And BTW , has anybody noticed how empty that stadium is lately ?? Location has nothing to do with it , evidently..
