Welcome to “Jameis Watch.”

Welcome to “Jameis Watch,” a new daily feature on JoeBucsFan.com. Much like last year when Joe pimped Johnny Football to be the next Bucs quarterback, Joe will bring “Jameis Watch” to you through the NFL Draft.

Yes, Joe expects the off-field troubled yet uber-talented quarterback to declare for the draft after the bowl season. No, Joe doesn’t expect Bucs overlord of football operations Lovie Smith to draft the crab-legs-stealing, BB-gun-shooting, obscenity-hollering, Heisman-Trophy-winning, national champion Winston, but that doesn’t mean Joe cannot dream.

After today’s disgraceful loss to the Vikings, Joe must be honest and responsible and look to the future. The future is with a quarterback. The future is with a proven champion and talented team leader like Winston.

Today in Jameis Watch, Joe assumes Winston, after preparing for a showdown with Louisville Thursday night on BSPN, was monitoring the Bucs shameful performance as the poor souls living in Tallahassee were ambushed by today’s game.

I am 100% on board with famous Jameis coming to Tampa. Heck, he can start next week against the Browns & Johnny Football.

  2. SteveK Says:

    Lol here we go!

Round Deux, Joe, BPA is coming to Tampa.

  3. Howard Cosell Says:

Jameis is a lot better than Mazell.

  4. 911bucs Says:

Too bad @1987 is at a BBQ he would love this thread

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Here we go with the “meaningless” game crowd….hoping for losses so we can get a higher pick……I hate to disappoint everyone but I am here to tell you right here and now that Lovie & Licht will not….I repeat….will not draft a QB with their first pick unless they trade down and recieve an extra pick….then they may pick one later in round 1 or in round 2.

    OK losers……start hoping for losses!!!!

  6. Troy Says:

I’ve been a fan since 76. Draft the rapist felon and I’ll be gone.

  7. tmaxcon Says:

Draft Jameis and sign Saint Ritchie

  8. CB Buc Says:

The only way we draft a QB is if Lovie is fired. He will go DE

Drafting a QB and putting him into Lovie’s mess of an offense is equivalent to giving the kid a career death sentence. Lovie’s history dictates what will happen

  9. Brent Says:

Mariotta/Winston then 3 straight o-linemen. I like Glennon though he’s decent so I’d try to keep him signed. How does joe expect any qb to play well when the o-line is consistently getting whipped. If joe is talking about drafting qb, shouldn’t he also be talking about o-line.

  10. Rrsrq Says:

The only way we shouldn’t draft Winston, if team starts winning “not”, or we trade back for more picks. Lovie and Licht will battle it out, they have no QB, can’t win in this league without one, they recognize that. Jameis won’t run out of bounds two inches short of the first down.

  11. Andrew 1 Says:

I think it goes without saying that the bucs should/will draft Winston if possible. And if not Winston, then you still have Mariota and Cook from Michigan St. left to choose from.

  12. Bill T Says:

I don’t want him because I thought we would get to 6-8 wins and wouldn’t have to go that route. But fans and especially the local media will start clamoring for him being the answer. Hate to break it to ya, he won’t be. But at this rate and how bad this team and coaching is, you will get your shot at drafting him

  13. Robert7 Says:

C’mon joe…….please not another year of Qb articles to stir the pot. How about some articles on each position, position coach etc…..how bad they suck and why they suck and what their $hit pedigree is and how we got sold a bill of goods. Please do it for us 🙂

  14. Andrew 1 Says:

    @ TBBF

I don’t think we even need to hope for losses, then bucs are more than capable of handling that all by themselves. They could try to win the rest of the way and still fall a$s backwards into a top three pick.

  15. Flmike Says:

If I were the agent for any of the top 5 qbs coming out, I would suggest they tell the Bucs ownership to not draft them, at least if Snuffy Smith is still the HC. I would suggest to my client sit out the season until Tampa losses their rights, rather than sign on with this $hitshow if Smith is still here.

  16. Robert7 Says:

The bucs got 99 problems, but next years Qb ain’t one

  17. passthebuc` Says:

Simply the dumbest thought wasting a top pick on W

we need so many positions that a pick of winston will just mean he is a target.

    OL

    DL

    Safety/2

and it just goes on and on

fill the needs and then pick a qb to lead.

  18. BoJim Says:

Yes, by all means draft a QB that can run. He’ll be running for his life on every frickin down.

  19. Shane Marco Says:

We have NO OFFENSIVE LINE and 1/4 of a definsive line…you know the two things you need to win consistently…but lets talk qb…am sure Winston will throw all kinds of touchdowns with the entire definsive line hanging off his back.

  20. Andrew 1 Says:

Not for nothing and I’m glad you at least have someone worthy of being on the QB watch, but I thought you said you were the General of the MGM only a few short weeks ago Joe? What ever happened to that?

  21. Buccfan37 Says:

The “Jameis Watch”? Is that the police looking out for Winston’s next crime to cover up? I know, he is innocent and can throw the damn ball. 1987 should be the biggest contributor to the worship coming.

  22. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We need lots of picks because our FA players are not performing…..

How is Licht escaping some of the rath?……

  23. ChrisCo4Bucs Says:

I’m tired of Lovie’s asshole remarks to the media, I guess he thinks he above everybody, now I see he was a bad choice to coach this team…..they suck shit anyway, I’m really sick of this crap, I invest too much $$$$$ and time for this BS

  24. SSG Mike Says:

This would be probably the worst pick we could ever make. Let’s pay this fool millions of dollars and then he goes down to Ybor and rapes or beats somebody up and then “We Suck Again” . This guy is toxic no matter his talent level. The Bucs front office and coaching staff are not properly equipped to handle this guy. Stay away from Winston!!!!

  25. Andres Says:

Crab guy would set the franchise back to 76′. Just sell the team if they’re that desperate.

  26. OneLove Says:

Mike Glennon sucks! Let’s get Josh McCown back in there please!!

Also let’s not act like the offensive line from last year was great! We were 4-12 last year!!

  27. BucTrooper Says:

I can very easily convert my son’s FREEMAN #5 to a WINSTON jersey.

  28. Rrsrq Says:

The Colts vs. Steelers game is the perfect example of why Bucs NEED Jameis, colts D getting done by Big Ben and company, yet the Colts are never out of the game, their QB getting battered but refuse to let his team down, #makingplays

  29. Bucs Fan Since '76 Says:

We will draft a QB with the first overall pick, and just like all the terrible teams before us, those with no executive infrastructure or coherent long range plan in place, we will destroy the kid. This franchise is a complete disaster and it’s because the owners are incompetents. They have zero clue what they are doing. No coach, no QB, nobody, will succeed here with this group in place. &$/):):&((@:$/).

  30. bucrightoff Says:

Vince Young 2.0. I’ll be shocked if he scores higher than 10 on the Wonderlic.

  31. The Ether Says:

cant stand this dude… with a PASSION!

but I can see his dumbass pumpin some life into this anemic offense… he’s a leader… dumb as f***k… but at least he can get his troops riled up… at least this DB shows some heart when he gets out there… plays with sincere passion… something this “team” has been lacking… ZERO passion from the HC down to “the neck”…

  32. Rrsrq Says:

@Andres, team already looks 76′ worthy

  33. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

    Don’t Win 4 Winston!

  34. Shane Marco Says:

Line was bad last year too…so we drafted a wide reciver…makes a ton of sense to ignore the line again and draft a qb…at the same time, if you want McClown back you’re delusional.

  35. buc4lyfe Says:

Glennon is not a franchise quarterback which honestly why I think with Tampa’s draft history I expect lovie to do something idiotic and waste another first round pick on a talent he has no idea how to use. This is Tampa, this franchise wouldn’t dare risk drafting a better prospect in the top 10 of a draft… I mean after all its not like they’ve actually tried, as bad as we’ve been we had plenty of chances

  36. Tampabaybucfan Says:

In the last 3 games…..we have 1 sack in 130 pass attempts……1……and our QB got us a lead late in 2 of the 3 games and won the game before that……so, 3 of the 4 games he started, he got us a lead…..the 4th game our defense gave up 48 points.

Now…..I know Mike Glennon leaves a lot to be desired….but if you think the sole answer to our problems is QB….you are sadly mistaken.

Glennon needs to be a QB on a decent team with a semblace of a running game….a decent OC….some recievers that can get open….a line that can block and a defense that can pressure the QB.

I’m OK with drafting a QB….but any QB in this next draft will be a crapshoot with this team as it stands now…

  37. ElioT Says:

    F**k it! Why not!?

I think this kid has sh*t for brains, but what does it matter?

Nothing to lose for this franchise. So many needs, so little opportunities. Might as well swing big on a potential “game changer”.

Really wanted to see this team build the right way and produce a solid team top to bottom, but Lovie is going to be looking for a miracle after this year.

    Go Sucs!

    _______________

Hell no! We’re trying to get that No. 1 draft spot at this point! Lets keep Glennon in there so we have a shot at Mariota! Official member of the MMM – Marcus Mariota Mob!

  39. JonBuc Says:

Lovie won’t draft a QB…that would be too exciting for the fan base. Like others have said…it’ll be some DE future bust. Awesome.

  40. lightningbuc Says:

Unfortunately for Winston, the Tampa Police Department, unlike the Tallahassee Police Department, is not a shill for the home team.

  41. tha truth is... Says:

Lovie would have 2 be a hypocrite 2 draft Winston

  42. RastaMon Says:

    Fire Lovie…

  43. bucrightoff Says:

Can we start an Offensive Line Mob? For the love of God we need a bad one before we can consider a QB. This is the worst line, offensive or defensive, in all football.

And when I mean all football, I mean NFL, CFL, Arena, Lingerie. Only Mike Vick in prime form could survive behind that line because he’d be able to escape.

  44. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Jameis may clearly be the QB with the most baggage, but he’s not clearly the best QB in college right now. Mariotta will go ahead of him. Is Joe suggesting we skip Mariotta so we can claim Mr. trouble.

And what’s with the morons still pimping for Johnny Ego…he can’t even win the starting job in Cleveland for gawds sake.

Johnny Ego will go the way of Tim Tebow…How about the kid at Miss State. Dak Prescott. He’s only a junior and I’m not suggesting he’ll come out early..unless perhaps the Gators can lure Mullen away from Starkville…but is Prescott a pro prospect or just another Tebow. He’s certainly a winner who can run the ball but what do you guys think of his arm. Better than Tebow’s…whose isn’t…but is it NFL quality?

    @TBBF

You need to realize that an NFL team is a living, breathing, entity… The D feeds off the play of the O… The O-Line feeds off the play of the QB…

But when you have a QB that does little or nothing to give his teammates to feed off of,,,,,, then you have a BREAKDOWN.

so thats what we’re witnessing… we have no leader. no stud. so captain/general. we need a big swingin d***k to take the lead…. not a big swingin neck… yup, I said it…. f***k Mike Glennon, and f***k the dying MGM!

  46. Bill T Says:

Tampabaybucfan – I’m with ya. People are delusional. It would be a blessing for Glennon to get traded…for his own right. Winston would make poor decisions under this barrage of pressure. He likes to throw over the middle vs zone Ds. He will look like Geno Smith if he was under center of this O-line

  47. BamBamBuc Says:

The MGM will forget that Glennon went 50% for 2 yards per attempt and one INT through most of 3 quarters while the D played pretty tough to keep us in the game and only remember a couple FGs (not really drives as the offense barely moved) and ONE SINGLE DRIVE in which Glennon actually moved the offense the whole game. The “Future” equates to one productive drive per game. The “Cannon” was so weak he underthrew a “Dunkaneer” so badly that miniature Munnerlyn could pick it off. I only pray that we find a decent prospect at QB in the draft next year. Unfortunately, there is no “Luck” again this year.

  48. Nybucsfan Says:

I will take a QB in the draft the once on this team now suck. Like it or not QB driven League. If you don’t have one you lose a lot case and point glennon.

  49. Paul Says:

For a team that has problems getting inspired to play, I don’t think he’d help the problem.

    ___________________________________________________________

Yes the D feeds off the O, that’s why Indy and Pittsburgh have both been absolutely torched defensively today, because their offenses inspired them. Football, in case you’re new to the game, starts and ends in the trenches. We have the single worst trench unit in the league in the O-Line, and one of the 5 or 10 worst with the defensive line. You don’t win many games with crappy lines. No one does.

  51. Buc1987 Says:

Tanketh For Jameth (TM) There is no other! I’ve known this since last year 3 games into the college football season. QB’s like this don’t come around too often.

Whoever gets him will not regret it. I promise you this. It’s time to hold your nose Bucs fans and accept him or continue to perish.

I don’t give a damn what anyone else has to say on the matter either.

  52. deminion Says:

Ppl are crazy if u think Winston can’t play he is on the same level as Luck was in college IMO off field issues aside the guy can play I would take him over Mariota

  53. bucrightoff Says:

HAHA same as Luck? GTFOH. He’s off the draft boards of half the teams in the league. Andrew Luck was #1 on everyone’s draft board. Not even close. He’s going to be a disaster, it’s obvious to all but the FSU homers. Again, Vince Young 2.0. Vince was terrific in college but so what? Manziel was immature, that can be fixed. Winston is dumb, that cannot

  54. Dre Says:

With our terrible offensive line we need a duel threat qb to make plays with his feet and arm. I like glennon but he always look scared when scrambling

  55. Canadian Tampa 2 Fan Says:

Yes, Joe, we need a franchise QB – but Winston’s not the guy! Neither was Manziel (who can’t even beat out Hoyer to start in CLE). Winston has Ryan Leaf written all over him. He might be ultra-talented but he’s a trainwreck off the field. No way Lovie & Licht draft this guy and neither would I.
If it were me, I’d trade anybody we have (who is not in the big picture going forward) for picks, and start working on OL & DL prospects.

  56. Buccfan37 Says:

The Ether… I did’nt know you liked MG that much. The MGM is still alive and well. Thank you!

  57. Pelbuc Says:

I wisely decided to spend time with my family today as opposed to subjecting myself to watching overpaid, incompetent zombies wearing really ugly Halloween costumes. Sadly, this horror show will continue indefinitely. I say this bc this is just another clueless regime that overpays over the hill FAs and doesn’t know how to draft or trade. At least Gruden knew how to get the most of his players and knew offense. Now we’re stuck with Lovie for years. The only thing that could truly change this sorry franchise around would be selling the Bucs to an owner who cares and getting an offensive minded coach. Unfortunately, fans are also stuck with irrelevance for a long time.

  58. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ 87

From the looks of it we don’t have to tank to get a high pick….and…..I think Winston will be the 3rd or 4th QB picked in this draft…..his personal problems coupled with the fact that many teams that needed QBs got them last year and there are several other good prospects.

At this point, I’m hoping for about 10 draft picks….anyway we can get them.

  59. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ The Ether

If you mean by “living breathing entity” that teams feed off of momentum….I agree…..but we have been a “dean breathless non-entity” thus far….Offense most first halfs and defense folds when it counts.

If you are promoting Winston as a leader of men…..I’d like to see him act like one before we waste a high first round pick on him…..

  60. WalkdaPlank Says:

    Mariota sucks too lol.

  61. Buccfan37 Says:

I would have to say the FSU team gets high rated college prospects, some of the best in the nation. 5 star, 4 star, all them stars. What makes the draft Winston fans think he would be any good surrounded by this subpar band of misfits? This debacle is not getting any better for a long time, with or without Jameis.

  62. Fort Myers Dave Says:

Tampa fans have to be pulling for the Jets right now… Why? Well right now they are 1-6 just like the our Yuks and just like our Yuks they lost a home game they were mistakenly favored, getting rolled up by giving up 43 points to an injury ravaged Buffalo team. Of what I think will be the 4 top teams in next springs draft: Tampa, the Jags, Raiders and Jets, only the Jets will be looking at qb as the Jets fans are even more fed up with Geno and Vick then us Bucs fans are with our below average qb duo. Maybe the Jets go 1-15 and beat the Bucs on a tie-breaker or vice-versa, right now I think both teams are not going to win another game til 2015 !?!?!? Perhaps Joe can start posting the draft order as it would be today including tie-breakers as I suspect that the Jets will be eyeing Winston and Marcus Mariota as their potential franchise qb….

  63. Mitch Says:

If Tampa Drafts Mr. Winston I will no longer watch NFL football.

  64. The Ether Says:

To you few MGMers left, just know, its not personal… Its just football… Wins and Losses.

And I’ve tried…. Jesus Christ Gandhi Mohammed Ive tried! to get behind our QB. But he’s just not a winner…. He’s not that big swingin di***ck that other dudes follow. He’s beta… Whats his W-L record??? How many games has he put on his neck-bearing shoulders???

Mother f***k Winston, but before anything, the o-line/d-line, it ALL starts, and ends with the QB… We need a f***kin stud… A born leader… Where’s he at??? GERALD???!!

  65. Tye Says:

It will be just another colossal mistake to add to all the rest over the past several years… He can not act right in college and money will only amplify his character… He would probably be best suited with the Raiders… Some say he prefers baseball so hopefully that is true and the Bucs can avoid this “high risk” mistake…

  66. Vico Says:

Thank you, now this season just got interesting. I prefer Mariota though.

  67. Newbucsfan!!! Says:

    Thank you walkdaplank,

People need to watch some of his games, he plays in a structured system and can be shut down if he came to the Bucs he would be a better version of mike glennon. Winston would win the Heisman again if it weren’t for off field troubles. Winston is a winner has shown that he can carry a team to victory, can make awesome comebacks when up against good defenses, and he doesn’t need a great defense to make his team competitive. STOP THE HATE PEOPLE

  68. deminion Says:

Your crazy if u think he isn’t good he is in the same level he just catches flak because of his off field issues, not sure how u win a heisman and be a heisman canidate this yr without being talented watch football @bucrightoff

  69. Jeffbuc Says:

I will take Winston all day. You can’t keep watching a ok qb and hope he becomes more than that let’s go get a proven qb who is not a gimmick just a winner. No spread offense gimmick qb like mariota just a Great qb. And I’m a notre dame fan. All in for Winston

  70. deminion Says:

Mariota too system for me Gimme Winston the guy plays in a pro style at FSU and come on he is a winner

  71. Andrew 1 Says:

Its not so much what we need and dont need. We all know we need help along the offensive line, but that help can come from the second and later rounds. We are talking about potentially a top 5 pick here. Would some of you really want us to pass on Winston, Mariota, or Cook and stay with Glennon? Are you that confident in Glennon to think that if an opportunity to draft a franchise QB comes that we should pass on it?

  72. deminion Says:

    @Andrew I agree, u don’t draft for need in the top 5

  73. CC Says:

For all you ssholes who are calling JW dumd. You are the ignorant ones. If you knew anything about him, you would know that he has a 3.7 gpa. And is a good student.

  74. Coach Randy Says:

Let’s see…..joe, you were soooo right on Johnny Oddball…..he is tearing up the league! Oops.
Jameson ?? Come on. Not a chance many teams will take a chance on this guy. 17 teams passed on Johnny Oddball and more will pass on this moron

I love the term “franchise Quarterback”. There ain’t many. The Bucs sure don’t have one and didn’t when they won the SB either. Way too many other needs than to take a QB in first round. MG, a 3rd rounder so far is better than the first rounders in his class. Not an all pro, but serviceable for now. Let’s get a line first

  75. bucrightoff Says:

Andrew Luck = 0 National Titles
Tom Brady = 0 National Titles
Peyton Manning = 0 National Titles
Drew Brees = 0 National Titles
Aaron Rodgers = 0 National Titles

Seriously, who cares about this “winner” crap? The best QBs are the smartest QBs,. Dumb QBs do not succeed in this league. See Freeman, Joshua. Jameis will score single digits on the Wonderlic.

  76. bucrightoff Says:

LOL at anyone calling him a good student. FSU protects this guy like no one else. so if you think he’s even doing his own assignments you’re delusional. He’s undoubtedly in communications too, the major of morons everywhere.

  77. The Real Drew Says:

Mariota , if he declares, will be first overall and I hope we have or get that pick.

  78. Larry Says:

Maybe Cleveland will swap Johnny Football for VJack and Doug Martin.

  79. Robert7 Says:

The ether: He’s not that big swingin di***ck that other dudes follow.

You sir are a delusional homosapian

  80. WalkdaPlank Says:

Mariota cannot win big games. He lights up scrub teams all year and when he plays his annual one or two competitive team he flops. That’s not an NFL-ready QB. Winston has shown he can not only play with the big boys, but he is capable of singlehandedly putting a team on his back and leading them to a win. You see that Notre Dame game?

Winston has the “IT” factor, Mariota doesn’t.

  81. Kingpin1 Says:

He would fit right in here in Tampa! Why not who needs a QB with brains and character! Let’s put Crabby Jamie as the face of the Bucs. I’m an FSU grad and he is an embarrement to the university!

  82. Fort Myers Dave Says:

    bucrightoff asked:
Can we start an Offensive Line Mob? For the love of God we need a bad one before we can consider a QB. This is the worst line, offensive or defensive, in all football.

You know what, that is a grtta point. It does not matter who is the qb for the Bucs next season if they get buried as a result of the OL. The Vikes got to Glennon 5 ***ing times today and this offense had zero output after that idiotic Glennon pick until the 4th quarter…. The WRs and TE the Bucs use are big but SLOW, they can’t stretch the field or get open and if they could the OL doesn’t give the qb time to get the ball downfield. Trying the 3 step drop to counter the pass rush is out of the question due to the Bucs lack of speed. All this points to rebuilding the OL. The Bucs will pick in the top 4 next spring, so why waste the pick on a qb? If a Joe Thomas type talent is there , grab him (of course the Raiders and Jags will be thinking the same thing)! If not: trade down with a team desperate for Mariota and get a 2nd rounder (and possibly more) and the trade partners first for our top 4 pick then use those picks for a OT and a G….

  83. Buc1987 Says:

    LET me repeat

“I don’t give a damn what anyone else has to say on the matter either.”

That’s for tbbf or anyone else that wants to address me on the matter. That’s all I’m saying for tonight when it comes to the sure thing that is in Tallahassee right now. Draft Winston and I’m a season ticket holder for years to come.

I’ll be sending my e-mail to One Buc Place very soon. Letting them know how I feel about Famous Jameis and my season ticket promise to them. I suggest the rest of you do the same right now and often!

  84. jo_mama Says:

I would take Jamarcus Russell over Jammis Winston.

I would even take Steve Mcnair today over Jammis Winston.

Keep Glennon Draft another WR – Get rid of Lovie Smith.

I don’t see any QB in this draft which I think is going to Match Glennon’s numbers in his first season.

Winston involved in bb gun fight that caused $14,000 of damage to cars and windows,a crab thief, arrogant, and most likely a rapist. As a Buc fan since 1976 I would not watch another game if drafted. If I was the parent of the the alleged victim Winston wouldn’t be around to be drafted. He would be swimming with the crabs he stole. He is a disgusting disgrace to humanity. Now back to football.Any QB needs more then 2.5 seconds to throw the football and when the Vikings got tired in the fourth qtr. Glennon delivered because he had time to throw. You need an offensive line before you can have a successful QB.

  92. Adrian Says:

To be honest I like Marcus Mariota better and I would rather have him as the Bucs franchise quarterback.

  93. lurker Says:

“Why no love for mariota? #maketheduckabuc!!!”

because mariota sucks! he sucked last 2 years vs stanford. did you see him vs arizona? do you watch the games or just highlights?
    #maketheduckabucifyouwannacontinuetosuck!!!

need dak prescott, or, perhaps, winston

  94. Todd Packer Says:

People that think Winston is unintelligent truly don’t know what they are talking about. Sure, he has made some bonehead moves off the field but he is a bright student. He made the ACC Academic All Conference Team and the Stanford Cardinal recruited him out of high school. I’d venture to guess that he scores very high on the Wonderlic.

  95. Skyline Crew Says:

Mariotta will go #1 overall so Winston and Prescott will be there. I would rather have Prescott than Winston.

As to the comment of playing Manziel and the Browns (Manziel would actually have to play then).

You sir are a delusional homosapian

    _______________

The fu****k are you talkin about?? I’m asking: WHO’s the big swingin di****k?? That can put this team on his back and WIN???

Its obviously not Glennon.. dude is 5-12 (5-13 if you wanna count the ATL game).

This kid has had enough chances to prove that he can hold that title of being a ‘franchise QB’… but I say let him linger… at least we’ll still be in the running for a True Franchise QB on draft day… like I said, f***ck Glennon… but still start his sorry ass to keep us in it… in the meantime, just slowly die off you f***n MGMers

Unless he transfers (Auburn?) not sure Winston is going to have a choice. Wouldn’t be shocked if his lawyer works out some deal with FSU if they drop this hearing, he will leave school after the semester. It sure smells like the suits at FSU want him gone badly.

  100. lurker Says:

last draft, i didn’t think winston was coming out. however, with his immature, off-the-field decisions, i think he is bored with school. i’m sure fsu is tired of it too, as is jimbo fischer.

  101. sho nuff Says:

why not…this team could use another emotional tard

  102. sho nuff Says:

Todd emotional intelligence is what matters…and he has none

  103. Jerry Says:

Sure…draft a QB who’s a misogynist and steals crablegs from Publix.

    That’s our savior!

You know I have to say this though it is probably very PC: Ted Bundy would nail a Ryan Fitzpatrick type score on the Wunderlic….. Yes you need an intelligent QB to run most NFL playbooks and offenses, but Christ man: character goes a long way and where there is smoke there is usually fire, Winston may be a highly intelligent guy (doubt if he is Myron Rolle but Nole Buc fans say he has a high GPA so I will believe them) but there are a lot of red flags around the kid; if he gets in trouble in Tallahassee, what will he do in Tampa????

  105. phil Says:

We should do every thing possible to get Jameis Winston. I don’t care about is off field issues. We need a quarterback if ever hope to win. Because we are never going to out coach another team. We haven’t had coach since Jon Gruden was fired. Both Raheem & Schiano are better coaches than Lovie. This team is truly getting worse and they are talking about trading the few good players that we have. How trading away Jackson & Martin is going to make us better is beyond me. We already cut one of the very best defensive player in the league which was a bonehead move. You don’t get better by getting rid of good players.

  106. rawr Says:

Do you guys now if Winston can pull?

  107. skipper Says:

While Winston would be a enormous upgrade here at QB I doubt that Lovie and Licht would draft him, they want choir boys on this roster.

  108. Buccanole Says:

@bucrightoff: LOL at anyone calling him a good student. FSU protects this guy like no one else. so if you think he’s even doing his own assignments you’re delusional. He’s undoubtedly in communications too, the major of morons everywhere.

-Jamies was a Pre Med student and is now in engineering. So you know absolutely nothing. Regardless of how he sounds he is smart. He would of stayed in school to complete his degree if not for the media witch hunt. Check your facts homie

  109. Brad C. Says:

The Bucs would be crazy to draft Winston ahead of Mariota!

The ONLY reason why they might draft Winston ahead of Mariota (if both are on the board) is because Winston plays in a pro-style offense and Mariota a read-option. That’s the ONLY question I have about Mariota.

I’ve seen both play (many times) and both are fantastic QBs. However, Mariota is a quality person as well as player and Winston has too many character issues.

Having said that, if Mariota is gone when Tampa picks, they still need to draft Winston. Both are far too talented to pass up particularly when you consider how important the QB position is in the NFL — if you don’t have grade A talent at QB, you can forget about being competitive. Look at all the top teams in the league, especially the perennial winners…they all have a really good if not great QB and from what I’ve seen of McCown and Glennon, neither is the answer.

    That’s a pretty big reason.

  111. Brad C. Says:

    “That’s a pretty big reason.”

Indeed, but Winton’s off-field issues are an even bigger reason not to.

Also, have you seen Mariota play?

IMHO, he’s the best QB to come out of college since Andrew Luck and before that, better than anyone since Peyton Manning. He plays just as smart as those two. He sees the whole field – extremely well – and rarely makes mistakes. Oh and BTW, this last game against Cal was his first INT — to 24 TDs…so the guy can definitely air it out!

I’ve seen several of Mariota’s games and I’ve been a FSU fan since Charlie Ward, so I watch all the FSU games and therefore have seen every Winston game as well. Both are great, don’t get me wrong, but I’d give the edge to Mariota. He’s a special kind of player — and that’s saying a ton when you consider Winston had the greatest season of any freshmen in CFB history!

Personally, as I said before, I’d be happy with Tampa Bay getting either on draft day as I believe both will be NFL stars…barring Jameis can keep out of trouble long enough for that to happen.

  112. Joe Says:

Also, have you seen Mariota play?

Enough. Doesn’t impress as much as Winston. More importantly, it seems scouts are spooked over Mariota gimmick offense as much as Winston’s behavior.

Thing about Winston, the more things swirl off the field, the more laser-focused he is on the field.
