Vikings Prepped For Win

A BSPN scribe believes the Bucs are just what Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater needs.

Joe knows this will wake up Bucs fans this morning, if they haven’t yet had their morning ration of caffeine. It sure got Joe’s attention and it isn’t even 7 a.m.

A BSPN scribe who covers the Vikings, a cat by the name of Ben Goessling, typed a piece in which he states the Vikings will win Sunday by two scores, mostly because the Vikings are used to close games against far superior opponents.

After back-to-back games against two teams with elite run defenses and formidable pass rushes, the Minnesota Vikings will travel to Tampa this weekend to face a team that’s sacked the quarterback just nine times, allowed 8.36 yards per passing attempt and surrendered 204 points in six games.

That’s exactly what Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater needs to get on track, and as the rookie plays in front of a number of family members in his home state, he should have a good opportunity to replicate the success he had in his first NFL start, which also came against a forgiving defense in the Atlanta Falcons.

Between the Buccaneers’ own troubles developing a passing game (their 5.95-yard average per dropback is 26th in the league, five spots better than the Vikings’ average) and their porous defense, the Vikings will find a forgiving atmosphere to notch their third win of the year in their final road game before their bye week.

While not trying to ignite a firestorm here, Joe cannot really argue with anything Goessling typed. Until proven otherwise, the Bucs’ pass defense is scarier than anything at Howl-O-Scream. And until proven otherwise, the Bucs have no running attack.

So far through six games, the Bucs are a rotten football team. Good football teams don’t get alley-stomped twice in 24 days like the Bucs did. Good football teams have a running game, often. Good football teams aren’t challenging the worst pass defense in NFL history.

Sunday is pivotal for the Bucs. If they get beaten by the Vikings, then there needs to be very sober discussions and mirror-looking at One Buc Palace about the future of this team.

Joe does believe Goessling to be correct in one element. He hints that the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway should be a “forgiving atmosphere.” Joe expects loads of Vikings fans, only because Vikings fans are looking at this as a mini-vacation, just like the old NFC Central days. It is already chilly in Minnesota. A weekend break in the Florida sunshine will help the Minnesotans brace for what always is a long, long winter.

Actually I think he is very astute. I agree. Until this team and coaching staff SHOWS me any different , there’s no reason to think otherwise. I have no expectations of them winning on Sunday. I do agree with Gerald McCoy I think they’re ALL soft, including the coaching staff.

  2. Bucnut2 Says:

I agree bucs lose. I’ve gotten to the point where all I care about is getting the first pick in the draft. Hopefully Lovie is smart enough to take a qb.

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Pisses me off….but not an unreasonable prediction…..I’d take the points & the Bucs…..

    Joe

This is the game where we learn to play together correctly or we become putrid, simple as that. We have had no blocking, no rushing, no catching, no passing, no running, no coverage, no coaching, and no pass defense that has made a difference except in one game. Oh and the penalties!

Hardy Nickerson hasn’t given one interview that has been reported, why? If he can’t tell what is going on, no one can. Why can’t you or any other member of the pen an mike club talk to him or is it that he will not talk?

Regardless of how much they have stunk the place up so far this year
it doesnt matter because I am still excited come game time
and looking forward to the game
Hopefully enthusiasm won’t disappear after the first 5 minutes though
and we have a good game.
    But
you just don’t know what to expect with this team and coaches
    Good Bad or Ugly

    But I’m watching with hope

  6. BucForce Says:

If the Bucs need an article as bulletin board material to play hard, they won’t win another game this year. This is a must win game to try and salvage a season. I don’t care about the 2015 draft pick, because in all likelihood, they will find a way to screw that up too.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ billy buckaroo

There you go a true Buc fan…..sure we are awful and we are disappointed…..but shake it off….hope and keep the support up……

Here is what will happen to our brilliant coach, Snuffy Smith, when he gets outcoached again. 1. Teddy B will run wild as if Snuffy had no idea he was a mobile QB. 2. Whoever the Vikings RB is he will look like the child beater Adrian Peterson. 3. Bucs secondary will be shredded once again. Snuffy will be shocked and dumbfounded why short passing plays shred his archaic defense. 4. No sacks by Michael Johnson. 5. In fact, no pressure by Michael Johnson. (the best free agent DE on the market.) LOL! 6. Glennon will be blamed by Duemig on 620 for allowing the Vikings to score 30+ points. Fire Snuffy Lovie NOW!

  9. Bucsfan4lyf Says:

To me…. This is the game THE BUCS HAVE NEEDED. We have our team the healthiest its been all season, we just got our a$$es kicked and were coming off a bye week. The Defense is going to come out and play. We just need to start fast and offense and never look back.

I expect our best defensive performance of the year and Mike Evans to have his best game as a pro.

    Final Score- 34-10 BUCS

Aw, be very afraid of the mighty Vikings, who strike fear into every opponent. Don’t you know they have the marvelous rookie Teddybear Waterbridge who will slash and burn the Yucs into oblivian. Hell, they will probably unleash a tornado in Tampa. Yeah right! The Bucs will send them back to Minnesucka licking their wounds.

Wait we Are only 2 games out of first place! I can smell the playoffs!!said no one

  12. FloridaGirl Says:

The eye in the sky don’t lie…..

  13. Architek Says:

LOL – empty optimism. If Austin Davis carved us up and others, surely Bridgewater under Norv tutelage will find a way to win in the end.

    Go 2015 Draft!

  14. Hawk Says:

    (Reposted)

“There are only two teams worse than the Bucs/Vikings (tied) for scoring points. Yep, the Jaguars and Raiders. That means the Bucs shouldn’t have to worry about the Vikings jumping to a big first quarter lead. That should be an invitation to ‘air it out’ early and often. If nothing else, it would disrupt the defensive scheme that the Vikings have implemented for this game.
I believe the Bucs will win and it won’t have to be a late score or defensive save. Not a big win, but not a nail-biter at the end.”
A true Buccaneer fan always has hope. It may be tragic, pathetic, and pointless, but it’s often all we have.

Lovie is like most NFL coaches in that once the season starts, assistants, sans coordinators, are rarely made available for interviews.

  16. Andres Says:

Coming out party for Bridgewater on Sunday. Minna defense is pretty durn good.

  17. MGM4Life Says:

This is the same vikings our oh so brilliant DC coached just last year? Insider info just like Gruden did when we played the Raiders? I think this game will be the end all game, if we get smoked or even lose this game after a bye week, two weeks to prepare, insider info, motivation like never before then this team is a lost cause.

  18. Cobraboy Says:

Until the prove differently, this is one of the worst football teams in the history of the NFL.

Bridgewater SHOULD light these poor sacks of meat. Everybody else has.

  19. buc4lyfe Says:

Wouldn’t care so much about the pass defense giving up so many yards if it wasn’t for the points they are giving up that’s what I have a problem with. Lovie simplify things for your defense to atleast tighten up in the redzone for the love of football do something but don’t let another horrible team come in your house and take the remote

  20. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I don’t want to predict a loss. I would rather let the team determine that.

I will say this though…if Mike Glennon cannot beat the Vikings, he doesn’t deserve to be the starter. At all.

Of course, the offensive line needs to step up. I swear, I felt they all should have been benched for this week to send a message and start backups on the line.

If we win this game, I’m not making a big deal of it. All it would mean is a chance to build a little confidence.

  21. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @buc4lyfe

I can’t disagree with that. I hope that things will improve from game to game from here on out. Even if we lose, the team can get better.

At this point, I just want to feel good about next year.
