Martin Dumps Domino’s, Fried Chicken For Lovie

July 27th, 2014

DougMartinJoe confirmed today that “Muscle Hamster” Doug Martin is among the leaner Buccaneers.

Martin was always a workout warrior, a chiseled hamster of steel, but Lovie wanted every running back between 5 and 9 percent body fat when training camp begin. Martin explained that he just made it.

He said he was about 11 percent body fat previously and came in under the wire at “like 8.8″ last week. It wasn’t easy, he explained, having to dump beloved favorites “Domino’s and fried chicken” in favor of “white meat” and “lettuce.”

Martin wouldn’t reveal what his actual weight is, but he sure looks smaller.

As for Martin’s surgically repaired shoulder, he said it feels great. Today was Martin’s first day in pads since his ugly torn labrum mess in Atlanta midway through last season. Martin was the first-team running back. There is no competition at this point.

Not sure if I’m crazy about this…we’ll see what happens. I like how James plowed through and got the tough yards before he got injured. Whether or not he can continue that style of running and remain healthy or not will have to be seen. Given James is coming off of the injury f the Bucs only keep three it’s gotta be James and Rainey out. Maybe Dougie will be catching a lot of passes as well this year.

Yep… There’s that volume knob on the speaker… Double the same video ads on the site, Joe.

Anyway, good to see Mr. Martin in good shape. Man, this is a crowded backfield.

    Still no QB… again.

If Schiano had done this, he’d have been labeled a dictator, strict, ridiculous, controlling, etc. But Lovie – not so much.

  4. Buccfan37 Says:

Schiano was labeled all those things and worse.

  5. Bucs fan in Chicago Says:

lightningbuc, it is all about attitude and presence. Apparently Lovie’s got both, so players follow much easier. I just hope Lovie learned from his mistakes up here in Chicago…..most up here do not seem to think so, we shall see. GO BUCS!

  6. Waterboy Says:

    @lightningbuc
Shiano didn’t have the NFL or even college credibility as a coach to make demands like that, Lovie does!

  7. Michael Duggan Says:

I think it will be Martin, Rainey, Sims with Demps on special teams and occasionally pass plays.
