GMC Making Bucs History

It blows Joe away that there are actually people out there who still hate Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy. These are simply little people, who clearly don’t watch games and must have agendas or unresolved childhood issues because they don’t like nice people.

GMC is as good of a guy as there is. Yet his haters loathe that about him. They are jealous of his success.

How much success? Well, GMC has been doing things this year that haven’t been seen at the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway in 13 years.

This season, Gerald McCoy has eight sacks. That’s the most sacks by a Bucs defensive tackle since Hall of Famer Warren Sapp collected 16.5 in 2000. Now this stunned Joe, that Sapp hadn’t had double-digit sacks since. That is pretty incredible.

Imagine how much better GMC would be if the Bucs had a consistent pass rusher from the edge. Or more importantly, had a guy from the edge who actually rushed the quarterback on a consistent basis, not being pulled out of position by some weird stunt to cover a wide receiver.

Greg Hardy would look dandy in pewter and red.

  2. Nick H Says:

So many LOL’s, so so many

  3. Clowney Says:

Let’s see now, Geraldini has surpassed Sapp’s one year total for sacks. It just took him 4 years to do it.

    Let’s throw Dini a parade!

Wait, they already have a parade for him in Key West every year. Fantasy Fest!

  4. thegregwitul Says:

Really living up to the name there, Clowney.

    Ugh.

  5. Dylan Says:

Didn’t sapp get double digit sacks on the raiders?

  6. Tampabaybucsfan Says:

Joe, I haven’t seen hate for GMC… Saw frustration early with injury… But not hate.

  7. buc4lyfe Says:

i love GMC i think he is a great player and overall good guy even though he’s alittle to goofy for a defensive tackle but that being said if it werent for this coaching staff he could actually probably have had double digit sacks by now and even posted more sacks last year. but this is just one year he’s had that kind of production so after one year of big time numbers what does that say about him? adrian claiborne came in as a rookie and got 7 sacks, im not ready to write him off as nothing simply because of bad scheming and stunting calls!!!! we had edge rushers in claiborne and michael bennett but greg schiano and dominick decided bennett wasnt good enough to get another contract. no excuses are present as to why we dont get pressure and why they should keep their jobs because the rotation of roy miller and akeem spence would have been amazing as would michael bennett and well anybody…..

this coaching staff is pathetic and every level….who other than schiano and other desperate coaches thinks up a scheme that puts your best interior pass rusher on the edge? losers calling the shots at one buc place

  8. d-money Says:

Sapp only had double digit sacks in 3 times while he was in Tampa and 4 times in his career.

  9. BFFL Says:

I question is leadership and competitive drive to demand more from his team mates, but there is no question that his skills are elite. It shows how sad the DEs are really.

  10. Patrick in VA Says:

@Clowney – pretty sure 2000 wasn’t sapp’s rookie season. really hitting them out of the park today. keep it up

  11. Patrick in VA Says:

@Joe – when a person’s handle is red is that indicative of something? from what I can tell it’s usually the people who have the most wild and uninformed opinions but I would think that you wouldn’t want to draw more attention to them by making them stand out

  12. sho-nuff Says:

zzzzzzzzz…..sorry NOT inspired by droopy dog and his boring game…but you go ahead and keep making excuses after excuse after excuse…..he’s in, so thats what he gets. free exuses from the wannabe buc media mafia…see little dawg in between his “you people don’t know squat” from 3 – errr whenever….just sayin

  13. d-money Says:

    Patrick in VA,

I believe it means they have added a web address along with their user name and email.

Although your theory seems pretty acturate as well.

  14. Patrick in VA Says:

Ok. That makes sense i suppose. i’ve only noticed it on clowney and adam L

  15. PRBucFan Says:

Early on he was proving to be a china doll with how fragile he was and that was a HUGE legitimate question mark.

    That cannot be argued.

Now that he’s on the field he’s coming on strong and is amazing.

Who knows what kind of numbers he would have if he had been able to stay on the field?

Hopefully he proves that he’s not the china doll he came off to be and he stays healthy.

  16. Tim Says:

There are several DE’s that are do to be FA’s next, we need to spend some cash opposite of AC and watch what GMC will do.

  17. Bobby Says:

He was never a china doll moron. He tore his biceps twice which is an injury that rarely reoccurs since the repair actually makes the muscle stronger. China doll….what an idiot. I’m sure you were calling him a bust. Such an eye for talent….

  18. Patrick in VA Says:

@Bobby – …..I’d say that sort of response was probably warranted. Like we all learned in grade school, calling people names is a pretty effective way to emphasize your point

  19. Biff Barker Says:

Joe is colorblind. AssClowney’s screen name and posts should be sporting blue font.

  20. PRBucFan Says:

    Watch your mouth Bobby

I’m not one to come at with such a disrespectful childish tone.

An idiot for stating the truth? He spent more time injured in his first couple seasons than he did on the field and it wasn’t just his biceps it was too often. How rare it is? That doesn’t mean anything they still occurred and guess what, those biceps injuries occur from an improper form of arm tackling which did actually fall on him. He was proving to be FRAGILE

And your assumption is an incorrect one.

I was one of his greatest supporters and have always remained so.
Stating the truth that he was frequently hurt doesn’t change that.

So please, think before you open that fat mouth.

  21. PRBucFan Says:

I have never been anything but supportive of the pick/ the player and especially the person who McCoy is.

  22. Biff Barker Says:

Joe may be colorblind? AssClowney’s screen name and posts should be sporting blue font.

  23. Bobby Says:

I’m sorry, but calling what will be a two time pro bowler (after this year) a ‘china doll’ doesn’t sound very supportive. Actually, the term sounds a lot like ‘moron’ and ‘idiot’ doesn’t it?

  24. PRBucFan Says:

Do me a favor and learn to read before you sound like a Jack ass

“he was proving to be a china doll with how fragile he was and that was a HUGE legitimate question mark.”

What part of that is present tense?

You really honestly should learn to read a post for what it really means before you jump to ignorant conclusions.

Before today I thought you were a level headed, quite reasonable poster.

I must have been incorrect to make that assumption.

    Alright! Bobby and PRBucFan
    Both of you!
Fill out your Butthurt Report Form and see me in my office.

    As for McCoy:
I’ll never respect him unless he acts like a complete and
utter jackass to all of the Buccaneer fans.

    Carry on.

  26. PRBucFan Says:

    So insightful, I’m in awe.

  27. Bucfever40 Says:

I don’t know how anybody can say anything negative towards 93, he’s seriously turned his game around and now is forcing teams to try and scheme against him, he’s stoudt in both the pass rush and running game, and I guarantee that every team would LOVE to have McCoy, and he’s someone you don’t have to worry about off the field either,a true ambassador of the Buccaneers….even sprung for a movie premier for a load of his Twitter fans, I am proud as can be the Bucs have Gerald McCoy, and his body of work has only just begun!

  28. scott Says:

93 would be even better with some better players on D line !

  29. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

GMC is doing great. As a player and a person.

    Only idiots say otherwise.

  30. Bucfan#37 Says:

McCoy has the potential to join the other two defensive line Hall of Fame Buccaneer inductees.

  31. Joe Says:

@Joe – when a person’s handle is red is that indicative of something?

If it’s red, it’s hyperlinked to another website.

  32. Uncle Deadly Says:

It blows Uncle Deadly away that Joe always mentions these phantom critics without ever saying who they are or what their actual criticisms are.

give us some examples. Otherwise, you are just Fox news.

  33. Patrick in VA Says:

@uncle – how about Beckles for one

  34. Bobby Says:

OK PR…I apologize for the names. I had to take my wife to the ER last night with pneumonia so I’m a little sleep deprived and cranky. My bad.

  35. PRBucFan Says:

I’m sorry to hear that and I hear ya. It’s no problem, I accept your apology and forgive me as well for being as snappy as I was. I’ll make sure to lift up a prayer for her health.

  36. Brandon Says:

I was a non-believer until last season when GMC proved he could stay healthy and be dominant at times. This season he has consistently been dominant and if he had anything remotely close to a supporting cast around him on the DL, he would be putting up insane numbers. But because we have ZERO threats at DE to force QBs to step up, he has had a much rougher road.

Cincy DE Michael Johnson, Panther DE Hardy, and several other young DEs could be available (Mike Bennett is on a one year deal). We need to restructure our bloated OG salaries and we will have tons of cash. Then inthe draft, we go best available player.

  39. lurker Says:

wow…are these people here new, or what?

gmc was decimated characterwise by quite a few people, especially clowney, aka miguel payasito. payasito was supposed to go to an iggles board since his man-crush Dip Kelly went there. his beloved oregon has fallen by the wayside and the iggles lost to the Vikings…the vikings.

  40. lurker Says:

    ps

    payasito is just a troll

  41. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Thomas 2.2 also went on for 3 years about how awful GMC was. I notice he stays out of that conversation now. Probably a good thing.

  42. lurker Says:

yes, I see doubting Thomas has shown some restraint, which is nice.

  43. Uncle Deadly Says:

    I don’t listen to Beckles.

    And neither should you.

  44. sho-nuff Says:

yo patrick from va….you might want to wipe that brown stuff off your beak…you’re sucking up is sooooooo 2004……pffffttt *wave off
