Bucs Half Game Out Of First Place

October 23rd, 2016

Bucs are primed to lead the NFC South in 11 days.

With 10 games to play, your Buccaneers are in fantastic shape in the NFC South.

In fact, the stars are aligning perfectly for the Bucs to lead the division halfway through their season.

The Falcons choked away a home win against the Chargers in overtime this evening, falling 33-30 after holding a 10-point halftime lead and a fourth-quarter lead.

Now 4-3, the Falcons lead the Bucs (3-3) by just half a game in the standings. Meanwhile, the Bucs are undefeated in the division and beat Atlanta on opening day.

Next Sunday, the Bucs host the high-octane Raiders (5-2) and Atlanta hosts Green Bay. Four days after that, Atlanta comes to Tampa for Thursday Night Football. Even if the Bucs lose to the Raiders, the Bucs will be in prime position to seize the division if they beat Atlanta on that Thursday night. The Bucs would then own the tiebreaker edge on the Falcons.

After that Thursday game, the bumbling quarterback-challenged Bears visit the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway.

Sweet dreams, Bucs fans.

I’ll take it! They’ll take it!

    Ugly! But we’ll take it!

  2. MadMax Says:

The Atlanta win! That one was beautiful though!

  3. Jason Says:

    Wow… Sigh.

Ok, that was fun. Now to concentrate on a very good Raiders team led by a QB that I wanted the Bucs to draft. All hands on deck, it’s gonna be an all-out pirate war!!

  4. Brandon from Philly Says:

I love our chances against the Raiders. Hopefully we will have Ayers, McDonald, and perhaps Doug if not Rodgers is doing good.

  5. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Today was a pretty win, i don’t care what some say. Granted, The Niners are hot garbage, but apart from 1 quarter of bad bounces, we played 3 quarters of dominant, in your face, SMASH MOUF football. Jameis bounced back brilliantly, and our O-Line, Hot damn, our O-line played phenomenally. And the after giving up 2 td’s, our defense held Side show Bob and crew to just 3 for the remainder of the game. We are finding our Identity, Koetter, Smitty, and Jameis are Learning how to win games together. I smell a run coming Baby!

    Go Bucs! COMPETE!

  6. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Also, One last note, Mike Evans is quickly becoming a DOMINANT Top Five caliber Receiver.

Our Future is so bright we’re gonna need shades.

  7. unbelievable Says:

Raiders are going to be very tough.

We HAVE to get pressure on the QB and maintain gap integrity in the run game! If we can improve on those issues, even if we lose to the raiders it will give us something to build on for the rematch with the Falcons.

Falcons have been putting up serious points on everyone and I’d prefer not get into another shootout with them.

    The Bears we should manhandle.

  8. JayBucBoi Says:

We beat Atlanta Week 1, but those boys are no joke. They’ve played 3 of the top teams in the entire NFL the last 3 weeks and just choked today. Should’ve won if not for a bad coaching call. Hope we have figured out our identity and that we can get healthy because things get real.

  9. Brian Says:

Raiders D is nothing special and the Bucs D is getting better and better methinks.

  10. Glenningrad Says:

Crazy question. Do we give martin back the job immediately after he comesb? Rodgers is electric and idk if we wanna disrupt that til the streak startrs to fade.

  11. Ndog Says:

But Kobe Faker said running the ball a lot was bad. I’m confused cause according to him Koetter is an idiot and could not lead this team to a win. And tmax said our GM was an moron and needs to go. Again I am confused as how can the genius that us tmax be wrong?

  12. Dave Says:

    That was fantastic.
The defense is improving, the o line is, the play calling is.
If they get Ayers and McDonald and Spence together getting healthy wand putting together a pass rush, lookout.
JW is looking so comfortable lately. Keys in a little too much on Evans, but otherwise looking great.
    And Evans…. wow.
Give him a burner opposite him! The guy is dominant

  13. Buc1987 Says:

    Jameis Winston is sooo YOUNG!

  14. unbelievable Says:

ndog I noticed Kobe doucher is nowhere to be found today.

    Hmmmmmmmmmm. Haven’t see littlehog either…

  15. Chris Says:

Jameis looked good 87, I hope this is the Jameis we have, not the tentative one of the past few games

  16. dreambig Says:

Chris, your making me dizzy. THe last few weeks you have been one of the most critial Bucs fans. You have been hating big time and your criticism over the top. Do you love the Bucs or hate um? Like Jameis or are you happy to have him fail? Want Mariotta instead? Whats your deal?

  17. kobe Faker Says:

“I wanted to play #2 receiver for the tampa bay bucs and in front of poster Kobe Faker”

    Russell shepard

  18. Buc1987 Says:

Going over some of the comments in the open thread and some of these people are NOT Bucs fans. Can you spot who they are?

    Hot knife through butter!

Where are all you dumbasses that thought this is such and easy win?

We make LOSERS look like pro-bowlers consistently.

    lightningbuc Says:
    October 23rd, 2016 at 4:41 pm

Jaboo is NOT good – simple as that!

    ElioT Says:
    October 23rd, 2016 at 4:43 pm

Here’s comes that ass kicking folks!

Where are you absolute morons predicting a win today??? F**k you!!!

    BusteisWinston Says:
    October 23rd, 2016 at 4:45 pm

People around the country really need to start paying attention to what a joke we are. We’re the Browns but we’ve wasted even more talent.

    Charmin Ultra Yucs Says:
    October 23rd, 2016 at 4:47 pm

This team is done. GUT the roster and start over. Trade EVERY1 draft picks

    ElioT Says:
    October 23rd, 2016 at 4:47 pm

We don’t the stones of the talent to come back. We’re going to get curb stomped.

    lightningbuc Says:
    October 23rd, 2016 at 4:50 pm

Hard to believe, as much as Joe clamored for him, but John Manziel is available.

    Bucnut2 Says:
    October 23rd, 2016 at 4:50 pm

Lurker-JW starts slow because he sucks.

You guessed it. All of them. Call them out when you see them. Especially that little a-hole lightningbuc that has a personal vendetta against Jameis and has been this way…. waaaaay before the Bucs even drafted him. You sir are a reject and a flat out loser. You’re so worried about Jameis and what you think he’s done to some girl in his past, that you act like a girl on this site. You follow only threads about Winston and you only care about his mistakes. Always there to point them out in a jiffy. You are an assclown. The very definition of one. You don’t need to worry about Winston. You need help yourself and Bucnut’s not too far behind you.

ElioT…why are you even a Bucs fan?

  19. SOEbuc Says:

@Glenningrad I dont know. I know he’s only played against three crappy run defenses but this guy looks for real. He’s so small behind our good looking line and seems to always hit the best hole available and chugs it the rest of the way. Sounds a lot like Doug. I say keep him until he starts to decline. If he continues this way, there’s gonna be some big Doug Martin trade talk next year for possibly lots of good picks and relieving us of his fat new contract.

  20. Chris Says:

Yes and I said I didn’t like how I looked dream . Reminded me too much of how the election is looking. Got tired of the negativity from myself. Does it still creep up, yes, because of the years of losing. I don’t know you, I’ve known 87, SPBF , Tbbf, DB, I’ve made amends to them over respect for them over the years, you I don’t owe anything to

  21. Buc1987 Says:

dreambig…Chris gets a little too emotionally invested in this team. He’s a Bucs fan, but a VERY frustrated Bucs fan.

Everyone knows I’ll defend Winston to the end.

I won’t have to defend him for long though and I know this. I also know that the Niners are a hot mess. Yeah well some would say, so are the Bucs.

I’m a little scared about the Raiders, but not really. I’m just going to enjoy this win and take them as them come. They’re are my team afterall.

  22. Doctor Stroud Says:

I saw that the Raiders, after beating Jacksonville, are going to spend the week in Sarasota-Bradenton area rather than go back home to California. They are in first place and serious about staying there, so Bucs fans need to turn out in force at home!

  23. Buc1987 Says:

SOE…why can’t we have a Martin/Rodgers tandem the rest of the season?

  24. tmaxcon Says:

No gm is going to give picks up for a 30 year old ALWAYS HURT NEVER SCORES Doug Martin…. With his salary and injury history Doug Has ZERO trade value

  25. Chris Says:

I do Buc, I wear my Bucs jacket proudly and still wear my Super Bowl Champions shirt . Born and raised in Tampa, born on Mcdill. I remember a Tampa before the Buccaneers , when Freddie Solomon was the toast of the town at U of Tampa. Now in NC, pay for DirectTV to see my team. I defend them to others, only criticize them in here and to family . But like I said, hated how I looked as just a basher, so more positives, but like you , I still freeking hate the Aguayo pick.

  26. Eric Says:

Let’s see the last time we played the Raiders in a big game…..

    Hmmmmmm

  27. Kobe Faker Says:

Theres alot of plays we can do with all our backs

I would like to see more los / screens to ant smith. Damn , he has another gear

We need shep on the other side of me13 than cecil shortd…it will open the whole field for all the recievers

Give me shep vs #2 corner all day

    This is the facts

Vjax couldnt make the plays shep did today.

    Let me repeat again

Vjax couldnt make the plays shep did today

    Let there be separation

  28. Eric Says:

I was reading the Niners blogs. They want rid of Chip already and demanding new ownership.

    Soooooo familiar.

  29. Buc1987 Says:

lol tmax…he’s only 27. His first major injury came on some wheel route where Schiano had him leaping for a pass 45 yards downfield. Torn labrum or something. I don’t know about you, but if I’m the coach I don’t have a Doug Martin trying to catch passes 45 yards down the field. I’m not defending his injury history either, I’m just saying. We have injuries across the board. Injuries do happen.

Could it be that he actually does have a bad hammy like so many other players across the league or was he just healthy during his contract year to cash in?

  30. Tbbucs3 Says:

Starting to see why Cecil Shorts was cut by the Texans, he’s done nothing.

  31. tmaxcon Says:

    87

He’s had 2 good years and 2.5 bad. He does not score and the running back position has been devalued no gm will waste a pick on a part time running back

  32. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I have been calling for Shepard to get some of Vjax’s snaps…..even before he got hurt.
Sure it was a lousy SF defense but Shepard can play. We are going to be OK with Shepard, Shorts & Murphy coming back.
I saw some speed out there today & I like it.

Our D played a pretty good game…..although they really didn’t contain Kaepernick very well…but SF had no other weapons so he couldn’t beat us on his own.

  33. tmaxcon Says:

    87

He will be 28 end of season 29 next year there is zero trade value for him. Hillary is more likely to have an affair with Trump than anyone offer a pick for Martin

  34. Buc1987 Says:

tmax…he’s not going to be traded anyways. Sooo.

  35. tmaxcon Says:

    TBBF

You have been on the shep train a while. He did well today

  36. tmaxcon Says:

    87

I was responding the fan that said we’d get lots of picks. For hammy boy. Just trying to help the mentally challenged because I’m a hell of a great guy

  37. Cobraboy Says:

    Thank you Dan Quinn.

What a dumbass move to go for 4th and 1 from your side of the field in OT.

  38. Kobe Faker Says:

    No team is perfect

Lets see mike smith with mcdonald and ayers back and

Lets see how koetter develops his playcalling with his new toys. Russ shep , ant smith, and maybe barber and shorts

    With jaboo the trigger man

  39. FIRETHECANNONS Says:

I was actually thinking the same thing… I went back and looked at the open thread after the game and holllllly sheet were there a bunch of negative nancies in there. After the first TD a lot of ya’ll were crying like a bunch of biotchs. No one is making you root for this team. If all you’re going to do is complain, then stop watching and go root for someone else.

  40. Bucsfan951 Says:

Tmax being all negative again. Let me guess… Single, small apartment, couple of dogs, maybe a cat, dead end 9-5 job, always finds himself in the “friend zone” with the ladies… Am I hitting the nail on the head?

  41. tmaxcon Says:

    Bucsfan951

I see I’m still in your head. Try small business owner, semi retired, house in Austin Texas, and Boulder Colorado with offices in Tampa, Austin, Chicago and Denver. I appreciate your concern. You were right about two dogs though

  42. DB55 Says:

Keep Martin, quiz and smith. Send sims to the WR room.

  43. Dooshlarue Says:

    87

Man i was a little worried I was gonna see my name on your call out list!
I was a little negative in the open thread because I simply can’t stand hearing all week that the 49ers are garbage and we should absolutely destroy them.
I’m not very superstitious but this is a no no in my book.

We’re the Bucs and we have to stay humble………for now at least.

  44. tmaxcon Says:

    DB55

Your talking about next year correct. We won’t see sims or Martin anymore this year.

  45. Kobe Faker Says:

Betting line is tampa -1 vs oakland and total is 49 at pinniclesports

I like it. They know public will take oak and they are giving them points still,

Our bucs will be with the books

  46. Architek Says:

    Very nice posts 1987 –

Way to hold some of these butt clowns accountable for spewing lunacy. Do I hate losing yea but do I exclusively blame Winston NO.

  47. mixxx31 Says:

87, way to call those B!+<hes out!

  48. Harlow Says:

WIN IN THE DEN! WIN IN THE DEN!

  49. orlbucfan Says:

Still remember the shellacking we took from the Raiders out in Oakland when the SB team was coming together. We owe ’em one right back here in our crib. Smart thinking on their part to stay here for the week. No wonder Raiders are doing well. Go get ’em, Bucs!!! They owe us a big fat one!! 🙂
