When Doug Martin slashed through the Raiders defense in 2012, it marked the last time the team had consecutive 150-yard rushing days.
At least in the past three seasons, no matter how deep the stable of Bucs running backs is, no matter who has been coach or offensive coordinator, the rushing game has revolved around one man.

Per the Vancouver Sun, former Bucs OC Jeff Tedford said he’s been “good to go for a couple of months.”
So former Bucs offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford, before the NFL season is over, before Christmas 2014, already has a new job. As many know, he is now the head coach of the BC Lions of the CFL.
Tedford suffered a heart issue in preseason and he was all but AWOL ever since. [read more]

In a pathetic season in which the Bucs, if you believe the numbers crunchers, are historically bad, the season was even worse to due to little drama.
There were few reasons for a Bucs fan to remain engaged. Many were checked out by Halloween, many, maybe, for good. In a sadistic way, that changed thanks to the Chase for Jameis. [read more]

There’s lots of local and national speculation about bratty Jay Cutler and Lovie Smith potentially reuniting in Tampa next season. Even NFL.com is talking.
Joe finds the notion ludicrous.
However, if the Bears are willing to trade Cutler for Michael Johnson, and Lovie really believes the Bucs are “on the verge,” then maybe the thought of a Cutler transplant isn’t thoroughly insane. [read more]

Oh, once the NFL released the schedule this past April revealing the Bucs were going to host the Packers the weekend prior to Christmas, Joe knew the cheeseheads would flock to the Den of Depression.
The game didn’t take long to sell out, as just about every Packers fan, both tranplanted locally or residing north of I-80, seemed ready to celebrate Christmas on the west coast of the east coast with their beloved Packers. [read more]

Lovie weighed in today
The fact Lovie Smith is giving right tackle Demar Dotson a test drive at left tackle is a sure sign that Dotson, to some degree, is returning as a starter next year.
The Bucs’ play at offensive line has been lousy this season. And while Dotson won’t quite get people to forget Dan Dierdorf, he’s been the best player on the line. [read more]

One linchpin of the Bucs’ offensive overhaul this offseason was the signing of former Packers center Evan Dietrich-Smith.
While EDS isn’t an awful center, one could argue he wasn’t an upgrade from Jeremy Zuttah, and the Packers haven’t exactly fallen apart having replaced him with a rookie from Ohio State, Corey Linsley. [read more]
