Joe’s heard that virtual reality activities have brought happiness to many healthy men. And Joe’s seen how teenagers learn to drive via extraordinarily expensive and comprehensive virtual reality technology.
So Joe’s all for it. [read more]

Bucs rookie LT Donovan Smith posing with fellow Penn State product, the fetching Colleen Wolfe of NFL Now.
Yes, Bucs fans have little fingernails left, as they have been gnawing them and sweating over the very real possibility the Bucs will start three rookies on offense this year.
Then again, those three likely rookies, “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, left tackle Donovan Smith and right guard Ali Marpet, are an upgrade over the drek that played those positions last year. [read more]

Why did opposing offenses run so many two-back sets against Leslie Frazier’s defense?
Yes, in the salad days leading up to training camp, Joe is scouring for Bucs news in places where there is no Bucs news. This is one of those cases. [read more]

No hype.
A week from Saturday begins the last stand of the Mike Glennon Mob. That’s when training camp opens and if the quarterback of the past and the quarterback of the future ever hopes to be the quarterback of the present and lead the Bucs, this will be his final shot.
That’s if you actually believe there is competition. [read more]

Under heat.
When training camp begins a week from Saturday, it will be hot. No kidding, it is Florida.
But no, not just that. Bucs fans will be singed from the heat coming from “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. [read more]

An ex-Buccaneer weighs in
Joe and Bucs fans can argue all day long about whether Lovie Smith is on a hot seat, whether he must hit a certain number of wins in 2015 to keep his job.
But what is Lovie feeling? [read more]

No need to mess with Kwon Alexander’s head by changing positions.
Bucs fans for years have had irritable bowel syndrome when it comes to safeties.
Obviously, Sabby the Goat was the perfect example but in latter years, the likes of Sean Jones, Mark Barron and Hawk Goldson have kept Bucs fans on the bowl for longer periods than expected. Those safeties have basically been bad hotel toilet paper. [read more]

It’s the countdown feature you’ve all been waiting for. Not really, but on the heels of last year’s award-winning “20 Worst Buccaneers Of The Past 10 years” feature, Joe had to deliver.
A list like this is highly subjective and toxic. Fits of rage were common during production meetings at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters. Scared interns soiled their pants. Full beer bottles were smashed, and a treasured Rachel Watson poster was accidently destroyed. But order was restored.
Current and former general managers and head coaches might not like what’s coming, but it had to be done. This is what happens when your team is 30-70 in its last 100 games. [read more]

Time to break an ugly streak.
You’ve heard college football programs identified for producing top talent at a certain position.
Penn State is “Linebacker U.” USC is known for pumping out offensive linemen. Miami cranks out wide receivers.
And on it goes. [read more]

If healthy, Bucs TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins could be a weapon.
Right now, less than a year removed, the 2014 Bucs draft looks to be a one-man band. Mike Evans has been nothing less than a home run.
The rest of the draft? Shaky, to be polite.
Running back Charles Sims sure looked to be forced into playing duty. Nothing he did impressed Joe. But Joe is willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt since he got hurt in preseason. [read more]

Back when Joe hung out with Herm Edwards at the NFL Owners Meetings in Arizona this year, the excitable former Bucs assistant head coach got all Tony Dungy when talking about Tampa Bay’s 2014 defense. [read more]

One reason Bucs fans are all jacked up by what Jacquies Smith accomplished (6 1/2 sacks) in half a season last year is because it had been so long since Tampa Bay had a defensive end who played with relentless fire.
Michael Bennett was that guy in 2012, but the Bucs showed him the door. [read more]

Lovie’s desk chair?
The losing and the losing and the losing around these parts has become so commonplace, Bucs fans are mentally beaten down.
Where once this proud franchise had fans trying to figure out playoff opponents well into the holiday season, in recent years, fans’ focus has turned to the following spring’s draft — before Halloween! [read more]

Where does Leonard Johnson factor in with Bucs corners?
A few things are locks — assuming health — when the Bucs put toe to leather (thank you, Gene Deckerhoff) to kick off the season in September.
Among the guarantees are Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson starting at wide receiver, and Alterraun Verner and Johnthan Banks starting at corner. [read more]

Logan Mankins and Kevin Pamphile were attached at the hip through many spring practices
Right now, Kevin Pamphile is your starting Buccaneers left tackle. That’s the way the depth chart rolled though spring practices.

Coveted backup
The main summer storyline – and Joe loathes that word in sports and is just warning you – is this trumped up, nonsense of a competition between “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, and the quarterback of the past and quarterback of the future and maybe quarterback of the present, Mike Glennon.
