How Safe Is Zac Robinson?

October 18th, 2026

#Fail

Joe cannot hang all of the blame on Bucs quarterback Jalon Daniels.

Did he show in the second half why every team in the league, including the Bucs, passed on him multiple times in the draft? Yes. But he got no help.

His receivers dropped/missed a bunch of catchable passes. That didn’t help.

Exactly why were the Bucs unable to run the ball in the second half? It is extraordinary how poorly the Bucs’ offensive line plays in this offense. Today it was run blocking. Bucs running backs ran for 21 times for just 63 yards.

One reason the Bucs liked Daniels so much as a project — a project who is not yet polished enough — was his wheels. Why exactly didn’t Bucs offensive coordinator Zac Robinson, with a few extra days to prepare since the Bucs last played a week ago last Thursday, go back to Daniels’ college tape and try to incorporate some of his college offense at Kansas to use his skillset?

Why not run three or four options plays for Daniels since he’s so mobile?

With the exception of Tristan Wirfs, Joe doesn’t think there is one player on offense who is maxing out his skillset in Robinson’s offense. That’s directly on Robinson.

And with KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles griping about the play-calling, could Robinson be made to walk the plank tomorrow, or maybe next week after Mayfield should start in Carolina?

Team Glazer isn’t going to remove Bowles until January. So forget that, “this Joe” believes. But if Bowles is looking for a scapegoat to maybe give him a buffer from a sure firing in January, well, Robinson, has surely earned a pink slip in Joe’s mind, scapegoat or no scapegoat.

Why? Who’d take over Offense? Bowlers has said he isn’t involved in Offense. I bet while Robinson is bad he’s not as bad as his O Staff or Bowlers. Have a solution, not just the problem. Name the guy you think would do better.

  2. 76 replay Says:

Team Glazer will not remove Bowles. They do not care. Only their accountant can remove him.

  3. Joe Bob Pigskin Says:

    Yep.

  4. ryan Says:

A rock could run a better defense. Should be done immediately

  5. WillieG Says:

It’s amazing how fast our O-line went from top 3 to bottom 3 while our receivers vanished. I guarantee a good OC would find ways to get the ball to Godwin. He would also be able to cover up any weaknesses on the O-line each weak.

  6. ryan Says:

Ugh. Offense. The defense has been solid 4.5 of 6 games

  7. buc4evr Says:

Fire his stupid ass tonight. Total waste as an OC. Unable to scheme defenses or adjust in the second half. No imagination at all. Bottom of the barrel.

  8. Bosch Says:

Finding scapegoats is a Bowels specialty. Expect him to say bye to Zac at the bye. Or perhaps give him a Ron & Ron sound bite: SEEYA!

  9. unbelievable Says:

I hope to God the version of Tristan Wirfs we’re seeing this season does not represent his “skills being maxed out”… Because if that’s the case, we gave a massive contract to what is now a very average player.

  10. Lefty_R Says:

I would fire Todd Bowles and Zac Robinson today!

Buyout Jim Schwartz’s contract from the Browns and hire Jon Gruden

It is a 5 Alarm Dumpster Fire in Tampa Bay

The Second half was a complete disaster on both sides of the ball!!!

Steelers had no business wining that game! I don’t care how many Steeler fans were in the stands!!!

  11. gp Says:

IMO, Robinson is failing because he’s doing what Bowles wants him to do, low risk play calling, just keep it close.
I don’t think he would do any worse than Todds bumbling plan. (playing not to lose)
I say fire Bowles, elevate Zac as interim and pick up a DC from off the street.
Spend the rest of the season “prospecting” for a new HC.
We will undoubtedly have an early pick in the draft and possibly more if a few of our veterans want to get traded. Yes, I’d put that choice in front of them.

  12. delta1054 Says:

I am pretty sure Bowles interviewed Zrob and signed off on the hire??

  13. Miller5252 Says:

Do we really think we have someone better than our OC on staff right now? Or are we just throwing in the towel and giving the fans something to go after besides Bowles

  14. LakelandSteve Says:

Not a very imaginative performance by our Offensive Coordinator. Almost like the Bucs of old, run the ball when the defense knows you are running and throw the ball when they know you are throwing. Quick question, has Zac Robinson ever heard of an out and up? It’s hard to tell watching television but it seemed the Steelers were squatting on all the short passes we were throwing. For some reason we wanted to make Jamal Dean look like the next coming of Darrell Revis.

  15. Bucsfan24 Says:

Fire the OC immediately. He isn’t doing anything good.

  16. Bucfan1988 Says:

Robinson should be DONE after today’s offensive crapshow!!!

SIMPLE AS THAT (in my Lovie Smith voice 🥴)

  17. Julian Holloman Says:

If it rained brains @Lefty_R wouldn’t get wet. Jon Gruden is not the answer. I just don’t understand why this slow coach don’t see that.

  18. Dr Says:

It’s interesting seeing all of the vitriol online about Bowles and Robinson. At this stage, the losing is what’s necessary for the team to wholly re-set next year, and a string of mediocre wins would have been stretched out the team’s purgatory.

This is the most encouraging loss yet — like the nail that seals Bowles’ fate since the playoffs are becoming an impossibility. So long as the team drafts anyone other than Arch Manning, the future just got brighter.

  19. Tampa2ATL Says:

Can’t imagine play calling, scheme, and offense could get any worse. Somewhere, Byron Leftwich giggles at the ineptitude.

  20. SenileSenior Says:

What Lefty_R said. Bring Back Gruden!!

  21. Day1-76 Says:

Jalon Daniels would light Todd Bowles’s ridiculously poorly coached and schemed defense for 500 yds. passing and 150 rushing, with 4 Tds. and 0 Ints. I’m glad I’m not on the hook to pay for season tickets to this Freakshow. Your money is better used watching the wnba, and that is the worst sports league of all time.

  22. 813bucboi Says:

    OC IS THE PROBLEM!!!!!

Fire Zac now….defense hasn’t played bad but Bowles has to go after the season….

Walker needs to start over Yaya

    GO BUCS

  23. Jay Jay Says:

Cant win with a Midget QB….period! Havent seen 1 draw called or even a screen pass when the d fense is after our Q B

  24. Ruka Says:

Who has been chosing the OCs?

When Todd “inherited” Bruce Arians’s OC and Tom Brady had his worse season, everyone said “can’t blame Todd because he did not had the chance to choose his coaches”.
He chose the last 4! Result? D. Canales was ok (in the second half of the season), Liam Cohen was an amazing hire, Grizzard and Zac Robinson look very similarly horrible!!

So, when are we going to hold Todd accountable for these choices?

  25. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

Can someone explain to me what Bowles did different today?

    Serious question…

How do we go 2 games with NO SACKS and today we get 5 SACKS??

  26. Tucker Says:

How safe is anyone at 1 and 4 bottom of the worst division joe.

  27. mj Says:

what a horrible game i hate the bucs!!!! zac needs to go, run bucky when the steelers just threw 17 times in a row to come back. everyone knew!! stupid play calling!! you have to score more than 16 points, both baker and jalon are better rolling out when they are in a rut, just stupid stupid stupid, ee dropping passes, zac lost the game and needs to go

Wow. Joe is a better OC than Zac Robinson. And I would bet with 2-3 days of research he would have done a better job calling the plays all day today. Or any day.

    it’s bakers fault

  30. Oxycondomns Says:

daniels and bowles to the super bowl

  31. ChiBuc Says:

Robison and Bowles suffer from the same affliction. They are unable to read the room and make preemptive or on the fly adjustments. Whatever is written on their sleeve is the entire game script regardless of its succ

  32. RodMunchisBakersThumb Says:

Watching the Rays. It’s fun watching well coached teams.

  33. Mach Says:

Fire Bowles now. Go get Sean McDermott now!!! Get gruden as temporary offensive coordinator

  34. Confido75 Says:

Every issue comes back to a JL and Bowles decision. Time to clean house.

  35. So Cal Bucs Fan Says:

Gruden sucks! You seen him camping for dumb DT in Ohio? Guy looks like he’s been drinking for two years straight and popping adderall with DT! Stop talking Gruden. He won with Dungies team! So sick of hearing hire Gruden. I’m telling you, there’s a better OC at a local HS in Tampa. Hire him!

  36. Itzok Says:

i vote we have a madden tournament from kids in the stands. who ever wins it or has the highest scoring offense is made OC if not HC. how much worse could it be.

  37. Oxycondomns Says:

Cash can coach the bucs to a better record

  38. adam from ny Says:

the misuse of one young bucky today……….was egregious

  39. can-we-get-rid-of-Licht-now-PLEASE? Says:

sadly nothing is going to change until January – not coaches – not management – not players – there are two reasons : 1) team performance would not noticeably improve 2) it would require an admission that there are flaws in the overall makeup of the team and scheme – Licht and Bowles will just muddle through and gaslight fans – they have ready-made excuses for January : 1) Robinson 2) Baker’s thumb – a Lost Decade is already baked in – the last stage is acceptance – RIP Bucs

  40. Davenport Says:

    1-5 Its over.
The entire coaching staff is going in January. Time for a rebuild. Trade off any parts that contending teams want – starting with Godwin and build draft capital.

  41. JimBobBuc Says:

Is Zampese or Yates a better option than Z-Rob?

Z-Rob needs to finish strong with Baker or he’ll never have another OC job.

  42. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

    THIS TOWN NEEDS AN ENEMA!!!!

  43. Coburn Says:

I mean even the announcers were like why are all the routes so deep I’m this situation?…

  44. Steven007 Says:

Plenty of good comments on the article, but I have to say, must every mention of the coach be prefixed with kit kat eating?! It is so tired and so so silly. Jesus…

  45. Bejeezusbelt Says:

Joe, I’m not a stat and take notes guy; but how many times in the second half did the Bucs pass the f-ing ball on first down not inside the last couple minutes of the game. You don’t give your running backs a chance when the whole world knows you are running the ball. It was second and long the whole second half. This offensive line isn’t the same line it was a couple years ago and it isn’t blowing any team of the ball. I’m sorry you play the AFC north you should lick your chops. This has been for long, the most Overrated division in the NFL and has been since the Steelers won the Super Bowl and that has been what 16 years. This division can’t beat anyone outside of the wildcard round that isn’t in the the AFC north. Cincinnati did it one year; and they had better send Tannihill a Christmas card every year because he threw more passes to bengals players in the AFC championship game than he did to a Titan. If I gambled I would be rich on betting against that division in the playoffs alone. That a different story, my bad. But that said you should win all four games against the North and six games in your division. Dang that is 10 east wins. 0-3 in those games so far. Maybe next year.

  46. Chef Baker Says:

He definitely needs to burn the run up the middle on first down page in the play book and any plays behind the line of scrimmage they never work

  47. Les Says:

Zac ,stinks is he listening to bowles . ? Second half they play not to lose .sounds like bowls ! Get some down field timing down with are wide outs ! , whst happened to the quick slants ?? Never liked the zac hire . Daniels made great plays with Kansas on the run ! Why dont we plsy to his strength ? Design plays around that !! Zac is not it !
