Extended Todd Bowles Discussion Time For Team Glazer

September 20th, 2026

Team Glazer

Despite the wall of unity that is Team Glazer, Joe absolutely cannot believe the six siblings with the title of “owner” agree consistently on all things Buccaneers.

And that includes their biggest decision of the offseason.

Despite fan outrage at the Bucs’ 2025 collapse and fans’ collective assignment of blame to head coach Todd Bowles, Team Glazer opted to keep Bowles for the 2026 season. Does Joe think it was a unanimous decision at the Glazer table? Absolutely not “this Joe.”

So what is happening now in the Team Glazer suite as Joe types this during the Bucs-Browns lightning delay? The Bucs are trailing 23-19 at the 2:00 warning and Tampa Bay is driving for a potential winning score.

That’s a long time for ownership to sit together on the brink of disaster, which would be losing to Cleveland in the home opener.

And that’s not long after signing Baker Mayfield for huge money and giving Vita Vea a new contract after he held the team hostage. Neither player has played well in the first two games.

Today is/was a must-win for Todd Bowles’ as it relates to his job stability. Not security, “stability.” But Joe thinks regardless of today’s result, all that extra time for Team Glazer to sit on the precipice of a franchise-crushing loss can’t be good for Bowles long term.

Once ownership starts thinking about a move it inevitable becomes more likely.

That’s just human nature.

    NO!

    FIRE BOWLES šŸ’©

  2. Eating L’s with Todd Says:

    Just a comedy of errors

    Choosing Todd over Coen

    Extending Baker

    Extending Vita

    Keeping Todd after 2025 collapse

This is not a serious franchise

  3. Lakeland Says:

The Bucs has made some the dumbest decisions in NFL history

    Mayfield record extension
    Vita Vea extension
    Cade Otton new deal
    Anzalone signing
    Gainwell signing

They could have signed Devin Lloyd with Anzalone and Gainwell money

    There’s a lot more

  4. BucsFan81 Says:

They won’t fire him. They love Bowles and his mediocrity. Most fans wanted Bowles fired last season.

  5. CosmoKramer Says:

Joe was all in on Bowles. Don’t take the bait. He’s running cover for Todd.

Glazers love Todd and the culture. Nothing but stormy skies ahead.

From the Taj Mahal to the ghetto.

  6. Jugheadfla2 Says:

Discussion? What is there to discuss….should have been canned 2 years ago!

  7. Tbbucsfan Says:

Fire Licht, fire Bowles, bring in a new GM with carte blanche to trade or cut whoever they want, hoard draft picks, tank for the rest of the season and start fresh. It feels like we are at the beginning of a wooden roller coaster inching higher and higher, except we are inching lower and lower over the past 3 seasons and eventually there will be no lower to go, so might as well get started now.

  8. ElioT Says:

Jason and Todd need to go.

Time is up – it’s over.

  9. Tye Says:

Should have been FIRED last Jan.

Hopefully the owners are taking this time to call Coach McDermitt and set up and meeting to be Bucs next HC!

  10. Bucs Guy Says:

And Zach Robinson can go with Bowles. Not impressed with his schemes in ATL or here so far.

  11. DBS Says:

Hope they had a backup plan if this clown fell on his face at the start of this season. But don’t promote Robinson.

  12. gotbbucs Says:

The time for this discussion was two years ago. Doesn’t matter anymore now.

    Choosing Todd over Coen

    —–

    STOP.

    This is total 20/20 hindsight.

We weren’t going to fire a coach coming off a 10-7 season and consecutive playoff appearances to take a chance on an OC who had one good season. Not after basically doing the same thing with Raheem and having that blow up in our faces.

  14. Lakeland Says:

It’s hard to support a franchise like the Bucs

They should get rid of all these listed

    Zac Robinson
    Baker Mayfield
    Todd Bowles
    Jason Licht
    Bruce Arians

These 5 has to go, for this team to improve

  15. Curse of Gruden Says:

    🤔 It’s Lovie 2.0. Let the clown show continue…….

  16. Tim B. Says:

Let’s see, Baker is struggling this half, the Defense is making Deshaun Watson look like Tom Brady, no one on defense tackling worth a damn!!!!!!!!! This team is coming up shorting the same ways it did last year, oh did i forget, we can’t get to the passer, or? Our blitzes fail?????

YOU GUYS SUCK!!! AND YOU DIDNT TOTALLY FILL THE STADIUM EITHER.@!!!

  17. Mike Johnson Says:

The fact they let Bowles stay after last seasons debacle let me know, we are not a serious franchise. The man lost 6 or his last 8 games. And Like Mike Evans said, 3rd and 28 and our Defense could not get off the field. Its ONE of the big reasons he left.

  18. Godlovesbucs Says:

No discussion needed. There shouldn’t have been one 2 years ago or last year.

He is a D minded head coach with a bad D.

  19. SB~LV šŸˆ Says:

    WTF !
    Joes !
Bowels should have been fired at the end of 2024 !
    🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

  20. Earnest Graham Says:

Enough time to essentially create a script like it’s the beginning of a game.

3rd and 28 didn’t cost Todd his job, but anything less than 28 yards here might.

  21. Idaho Buc Says:

    Anzalone SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

    That’s all.

  22. Whatevs Says:

Todd is the greatest Bucs coach of all time. Can’t fire a genius that the players love.

He is a good guy and he needs to feed his family.

Also the Glazers got him on a blue light special. No returns.

  23. Bucfan1988 Says:

Hell no on Mike Tomlin for next HC

Also recommending Sean McDermott, former Bills HC…

  24. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Bowels should never have been hired. He certainly should have been fired after 2024 when we lost Coen. Watching the Jags-Broncos game on NFL Sunday Ticket and there is no comparison to the pablum of this awful game with two loser teams.
Coen should have been our coach. Bowels is the definition of mediocrity, which is apparently what the Glazers strive for.
If he loses today, he should be fired tonight!

  25. Whatevs Says:

In 50 years we will remember the greatest Bucs defenses like

Monty’s Tampa Two with HoFers Brooks, Lynch, Sapp, Barber, and Rice

Bowles Low T defense with Bain, SirVocca, Dean, Anzalone

    Legendary

  26. Greg-therealone Says:

The only thing that makes sense to me is that Licht bought into this nonsense about the ā€œBuccaneers manā€ and the culture. Part of that was Bowles, who is a genuinely nice guy. He’s not a good coach. No one else would have hired him as a head coach. We got suckered into Bowles by Arians and its been crap ever since. Arians was looking to set up his ā€œlegacyā€ coaches Leftwich and Bowles. Leftwich is out of the league with absolutely no prospects sitting on the couch. Bowles won the worst division in football for a few years with mediocre teams. and now here we are, drenched and miserable, waiting for the Bucs to barely beat the worst team in football. Shoot me now.

  27. Jerseybuc Says:

20 games under 500 as a HC after today’s loss
3 winning seasons out of 8 years being a HC after today’s Brady played 23 years only losing season of his career came under this a$$ HC. Guess there won’t be a midseason collapse this year. Still can’t beat afc north. Still can’t cover a TE still can’t tackle. F!!!! Can’t believe stuck watch this trash HC again

  28. Bucs4Ever Says:

Sad for the fans. THese guys are bazillionaires. Sad for TAMPA BAY

  29. Jerseybuc Says:

    Oh how them
    Jags looking again

  30. Muscle Hampster Says:

When there’s a turd in the Bowles, always flush

  31. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

It is clear no matter what personnel we have, we have a Todd Bowles issue. Most of us have known for years, but it should be abundantly clear to ownership after this pathetic excuse of a game.

  32. FLBoyInDallas Says:

We had our next Super Bowl head coach INSIDE THE BUILDING and let him go to the Jags!!! In favor of Todd “Head Clown” Bowles!!!

I still cannot believe it to this day.

  33. HeartyDickerson Says:

Why aren’t there ever articles like this about Licht?

Just about every major decision he’s made over the last few years seems to have been wrong.

There’s not a single player on this team living to up to his contract. A terrible mismanagement of finances.

  34. Colonel Angus Says:

They love him. It’s all emotions with these clown owners. Their pops would have sent him packing years ago.

  35. Usedtocould Says:

I’m starting to think Bowles isn’t the guy

  36. Outrigger Says:

Bowles is no longer mediocre. 2-9 (assuming they lose) is TERRIBLE!!

  37. Boltsfan17 Says:

This is so ridiculous. Bowles and Licht should’ve been gone two years ago. Glazer boys are just as clueless as the dummies they hire and inexplicably extend.

  38. Cutlass Quartermane Says:

Ive been a bucs fan since the Dungy days. I have no interest in watching this team at all this year.

  39. Upstate NY Buc Fan Says:

DEI unfortunately, hate to say it!!!

  40. Chris Says:

Bowles should’ve been gone a lone time ago, the Bucs let the next GREAT coach walk out in Liam… bunch of fools

Now for the first time I feel licth needs to go too

  41. Todd Says:

    Dear Glazers,

How much do you regret that you just didn’t say, ā€œFffckit, we’re betting on Liam Patrick Coen instead of Bowles?ā€

I’m watching the Jaguars game due to the rain delay…and I mean, come on. His overall coaching is Varsity vs. Junior JUNIOR Varsity compared to the Bucs.

Two games in, and I’m already selling my hopeium on a downtown corner.

  42. BENchBREDESON Says:

Please stop bringing up Coen. The Bucs were fair to him. Offered the highest OC contract in history. You couldn’t fire Todd with two consecutive division titles and.a playoff win. Coen pulled a scumbag maneuver and left us at the altar. We are now at a fork in the road. You could fire Todd. But we are now stuck with a lame duck QB for the next three years making $3m a game. We also caved and have VV too much money to take every third play off. Ultimately, our family environment and “sign your own” mentality has burned us. We better win this game… lot more than 0-2 on the line.

  43. LakelandSteve Says:

Why were the fans the only ones to see what has been going on with Bowles since he became defensive coordinator. I think the Bucs defense played well at the end of the season in their Super Bowl year despite of Bowles not because of him. It’s always the same thing. The defense seems to play well until it’s crunch time and then they fold like a cheap suit. Don’t look now but the Panthers are playing well and so are the Saints. Not even sure the Bucs could beat the Falcons right now. If we go on to lose this game I could see the Bucs starting the season 0-5 the way they are playing and the way the schedule is set up.

  44. can-we-get-rid-of-licht-now-please Says:

the Glazers see the Rays win games yet not fill the Trop – the Bucs are mediocre yet Ray Jay seats are filled – this is a BUSINESS – THEY DO NOT CARE – the Glazers have nothing but sneering contempt for any fan that is not an obsequious lickspittle

  45. Steve Says:

Who agreed to re sign baker too?

  46. Yeahmetoo Says:

Whars with all the .mediocre talk? They are dying against what is
A bottom 3 team in thr league. Mediocre team beats the browns
In their home opener by 2 touchdowns. This group looks bad

  47. #1bucsfan Says:

I’ll defend Bowles cause he’s our HC. Defense hasn’t played terrible. The one touchdown was missed tackles. Correct me if I’m wrong but did Bowles miss that tackle ? No he didn’t. Winfield missed , smith missed and Alex missed which isn’t a surprise. Monken is a good OC he got 1 on Bowles with the other TD other than that he’s called a good game. The players have missed tackles. You are the same fans blaming Bowles for bakers fumbles and shoot baker thru a terrible int again Bowles fault right. Bucs offense has bin bad guess that’s Bowles fault to right since he calls the plays right. Coverage has bin pretty good outside of a few plays and we’ve missed some sacks. They really havnt ran the ball on us to well. Our offense can’t sustain drives or score TDs. Honestly baker and the offense is sinking the ship not Bowles and his defense for once

  48. CalBucsFan Says:

Bowles defense hasn’t been able to stop any offense since mid-season last year. This is looking very much like a very long season…again.

  49. Bucs4Ever Says:

My daughter is at the game. She said it was empty. People got up and left even before the rain delay. That’s too bad. Things are THAT BAD

  50. Dano Says:

It took a special effort to coach Tom Brady to an 8-9 record. Was terrible with the Jets and cost the Bucs in the NFC Championship game. The Glazers do not care about winning. Their concern has always been the bottom line. Owning an NFL team is like getting the key to Scrooge McDucks Money vault. Let alone the money printing machine they own in England in Manchester United – who are also a complete, non-competitive, mess. It’s all about the money. The Bucs could easily start the season 0-7.

  51. Coburn Says:

Bredeson I absolutely agree. Of course 20/20 says coen would have been better. At the time though? Only a couple years off a Superbowl, two division.titles.. didn’t make sense to fire Bowles at the time and trying to bring the gang back was the main focus. Anything else is revisionist nonsense. You would have had some serious locker room issues getting rid of a guy like that given trb circumstances. Coaches deserve ast least that much loyalty otherwise you’ll just be a revolving door. Now? By all means get rid of him if we can’t turn it around soon

  52. Todd Says:

    There’s ā€œWhere’s Waldoā€ and now there’s ā€œWhere’s Reuben.ā€

I think I’m going to use AI to create the ā€œWhere’s Reubenā€ Bucs fan’s storybook.

Let me know if you’d like to pre-order.

  53. #99 The Big Fella Says:

No excuse whatsoever to lose to the browns at home. No matter who is on defense we suck. It’s time the glazers put the fans first. Fire Bowles and bring Mike Tomlin home

  54. Josh Says:

If you look back, I repeatedly argued that the team should fire Todd Bowles and promote Liam Coen if that was what it took to keep him. At the very least, management should have offered Coen a co-head coach or assistant head coach title, matched whatever Jacksonville was offering financially, and allowed Bowles to transition out aka retire after the 2024 season. Unless Coen wanted to retain him and keep him as his defensive coordinator and assistance “head coach” by title at that point essentially.

Offensive coordinators who put together the kind of dominant season the Buccaneers had in 2024 are extremely rare. Prioritizing Coen and maintaining continuity on offense should have been the front office’s top imperative, regardless of how they handled Bowles’ exit. That’s what should have happened.

    PERIOD!!

  55. Dale99 Says:

This has been a cumulative affect of the last 5 years. Let’s go back to the playoff game against the Rams. His defensive call to blitz Stafford and the subsequent failure cost us another possible Super Bowl. He then is gifted the HC job by Arians and promptly hand the greatest QB in history his only losing season. He then treads water for the next 2 years and keeps getting a pass by ā€œwinningā€ the division 3 times. Then last seasons collapse should have been enough to have ownership make a change, but for reasons that escape logic, they keep him when multiple championship coaches were available. He cost us the greatest offensive player in team history because he no longer saw a way to win with a Todd Bowles coached team. He has/never will win a championship. That should be the only criteria that should be used in evaluating him continuing to coach this team. I think any players who say the respect and want to continue playing for him are just afraid of what accountability of new leadership will bring!

  56. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

The problem I see is there’s nobody currently on the coaching staff you can really have enough faith will be an upgrade (to Todd). Maybe Foote? The last guy we had who had ā€œitā€ was Coen, and he already got out of Dodge. I think ownership has hitched its wagon to Bowles for this year (and next?) with the contracts they gave Bowles and (perhaps pressured Licht to give?) Mayfield? Ride or die I guess šŸ™

  57. Aceofaerospace Says:

Any time they eventually fire him will 3+ years too late and counting.

  58. SB~LV šŸˆ Says:

I am PIZZED at the local sports media for not calling out the franchise management, coaching and ownership!

  59. Davenport Says:

Barely winning the worst division in the NFL 3x, by default, is not an accomplishment.

The goal is to be a solid team and a serious threat to win a championship. On that measure Bowles has been a dismal failure.

There is no reason to keep him around for the rest of the season.

  60. Boltsfan17 Says:

Your local sports media will never call out the teams. Between the sponsorships and jeopardizing access if they dare speak the truth is too dangerous.

  61. FireBowles58! Says:

Should have been let go after Rams playoff loss in NFC championship

  62. Chris Says:

    BENchBREDESON

Stop bringing up Coen? Cause the Bucs couldn’t fire Todd because he had 2 years left on his contract? Liam did a scum bag move by leaving Bowles for a HC job with the gm of his wishing taking over the Jags with all those picks they have?

    Wow🤣🤣🤣

  63. Mr. Barf Says:

Na na Na Na Na hey hey good bye Bowles

  64. JA Says:

Bowles needs to be fired tonight. No ifs ands or buts!
    Show him the door!!

  65. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Bolts fan

The hat goes for all media in all areas..

  66. Dano Says:

2+ hour delay and that’s what the geniuses came up with? Clean house tonight.

  67. Anthony Says:

It’s time for him to go. Horrible loss today. Unfortunately cannot bring myself to root for them as it only extends mediocrity at best. Fire Todd Bowles.

  68. ReTodd Says:

WOKE GET U BROKE Glazers. Better watch out with the Rays coming across the street. You robbed Tampa Bay sports authority long enough with your $2mil rent a year while grabbing concessions from every other event at Ray Jay. You gave a minuscule portion to the community. At this point you’re just pouring Bud Litch down the toilet Bowles. If you cared about the fans like you say you do this would have been addressed in Brady’s last season which was a joke and he walked out like a class act. Shame on you for the first time and shame on us for the second.

  69. Get What You Pay For Says:

Todd’s firing is three years overdue. Baker and Vita got paid and are playing like crap! This org is a mess.

  70. Frank Pillow Says:

I believe Todd is 2-8 in his last 10 games. That’s appalling.

  71. 3rd & 28 Says:

    We suck!

  72. Hire Gruden Says:

    Fire Bowles. Hire Gruden.

  73. Usedtocould Says:

Bowles should be fired, but again, now I get my fall back

  74. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

    First, Bowels must go now.
Second, Coen didn’t leave on ā€œ a scumbagā€ move. Glazers wouldn’t make him head coach and Jacksonville did. Anyone who says they wouldn’t have done the same is a liar. Period… and we are stuck with 100 Kit Kats a day Bowels. Thanks Glazers! I’m done watching.

  75. Nick jannette Says:

Think about this they want us to
Come to that stadium and pay a ransom of money from 25$ beers to 60$ parking plus tickets and food! For what to watch a coach that absolutely sucks for a team that has had 5 good seasons in last 20 years, you let Coen go for DEI Todd, you don’t want to run the team right, you want praise for having a black head coach and women as assistant coach’s and gay cheerleaders, at this point I miss Hugh Culverhouse and RayPerkins, the whole NFL has turned into a soft garbage filled league full of cry baby players who are way way way overpaid and soft, couple that with dei and playing games overseas, they don’t care about the fans like us who have been there for 50 years. And I say to hell with them I’ll spend my money on things that benefit me. Not on some dei trash, go jaguars at least they knew what we should have, we are the dolphins of the nfc.

  76. Brian Says:

They will be battling Atlanta for last place. They should not hesitate to fire Bowles during the season. They need to send a message after showing total incompetence this off season by retaining him.

  77. BucsBeast Says:

Bowles aka Mr. Excuses aka Captain Deflect aka Dumpster Fire.
Needs to go NOW before fans stop showing up and or watching.
Nothing has changed from last season.

  78. BucsFan33513 Says:

Who has contact information for Mike Tomlin?

  79. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Thanks for moderating my post. Done with Bowels done with this site.

  80. SenkoFox Says:

Said since bowles was GIFTED the HC position, he is a terrible HC, but a decent DC. His play calling is consistently an abomination and it shakes us all that he was extended, let alone kept after last years’ disgrace.

  81. Newbie Says:

I hate to say I told you so but i told you so. Gonna be a long year ladies. Thank you Team Glazer.

  82. Costa Rica John Says:

Just keep the stadium empty the next two games and send a message to the owners.

  83. Bucagator Says:

We had already fired a coach to hire a promising OC as the next head coach, and that didn’t work out too well. That failure probably was the reason we didn’t pull the trigger on Cohen. Licht may be a decent GM, but he’s tied his wagon to Bowles and will probably leave town with him.

  84. Bejeezusbelt Says:

Should have been done two years ago so they certainly won’t in the middle of the season. And now we have a top 5 pick, and quarterback is off the table since we have the highest paid one now. Sorry but Licht has just sealed his coffin, Mr ring of honor, has to go now also. Sorry Licht but it’s been a good run.

  85. Ckent23 Says:

Save the season. At least promote Danny Smith to HC interim and start over next season. Call Tomlin. Bowles and GC has to be fired to save the franchise. If this doesn’t happen expect mediocrity for the next 5 years. Bad monetary decisions on Mayfield and Vita Vea. Look at the two first games and ask if you are getting Return on investment from them both and the answer is no. Everyone wants the money the they go on cruise by mode. Shame on the Glaziers.
