Rust cannot be blamed any longer, neither can being on the road, or not enough tackling practice in training camp.
The unthinkable happened, one that should reverberate through the Team Glazer suite like a herd of elephants.
The Todd Bowles era should be on very shaky ground after losing to a bad team and a horrible franchise.
Sloppy tackling was back. Shaky pass blocking was on display. Rhythm-killing playcalling was on the buffet. Baker Mayfield? He was bad again, too.
The Bucs still couldn’t tackle and Joe keeps wondering when defensive captains Vita Vea, Alex Anzalone and Antoine Winfield are going to earn their massive pay checks. If YaYa Diaby could only wrap up a quarterback …
Somehow, washed out weirdo QB Deshaun Watson completed 24-of-30 passes for 238 yards and 2 touchdowns. A Todd Bowles defense has a way of making that happen.
The Bucs are winless at 0-2.
Bucky Irving and Kenny Gainwell combined for a 7 catches for a total of 6 yards — SIX! It seems the Browns were determined to take away the Bucs’ dink-and-dunk game and offensive coordinator Zac Robinson couldn’t adjust. Baker Mayfield’s erratic throws didn’t help.

There have been fundamental mistake is the front office and the coaching staff. First let’s talk personnel.
Offensive line: Jason built a beast of a line for the super bowl run but once we lost Jensen, we have never been then same. Hainsey was struggling but getting use to center then they said we are going to draft his replacement. Barton is not a center, he is a swing guard and you don’t draft those in the first round. Bredeson should have been let go he is terrible
Hainsey is now the starting center in Jville and playing well.
Pass rushers: we have not developed a pass rusher the entire time Bowles has been here. That is not a coincidence. Defensive backs don’t develop pass rushers.Todd Bowels was and in the NFL and the coaches he hires to coach that position is D tier at best. 3-4 pass rushers are hybrids they have never really draft those types, Nelson, Diaby, Bain, JTS, among others are hand in the dirt guys and you need to be in a 4-3 scheme that Bowles is not adept to calling that scheme.
Quarterback: Baker was lights out and bailed us out early last year but his play fell off be it for injuries or teams figuring out the Bucs and Bakers tendencies. And now we have him a 3 year extension at 55 million per. That was a strageric error by Licht.
Finally: The Glazer Family made a mistake. Jason Licht and Todd Bowles have been coasting off 2020 for 6 years. Jason has made several personnel blunders and Todds defenses predicability and offense stagnation as led the Bucs here. I told a friend of mine Bucs are a six win team this year. I think they could be worse. If that happens Bowles and Licht have to go.

Newsflash: Bowles didn’t make a single bad throw. He didn’t make a single bad decision to hold the ball too long (yet again). And to my recollection he didn’t throw any interceptions. His defense wasn’t great, but it wasn’t terrible either (well, except for those missed tackles that led to the Cleveland TD).
Mayfield led the daunted Bucs’ offense to a magnificent 19 points. Guess he just didn’t want to run up the score and blow them out like you predicted he would Joe.

BTW, THIS looked like the same Baker Mayfield that the Panthers sent to the Rams after only 12 games into the 2022 season. He looked like the same Mayfield that led the Panthers to scoring 96 pts in the 6 games he started that season (and went 1-5 as the starting QB). Bucs have a relatively solid starting team, but no way they’ll be able to overcome what he’s bringing to the table.
Difference this time is that he’s got $165 mil coming to soften any criticism he might get for his lackluster leadership.

The Buccaneersā ownership is a major part of the problem, and I believe the responsibility goes all the way to the top. They had the opportunity to do the right thing by moving on from Todd Bowles instead of renewing his contract, yet they chose not to. In my opinion, that decision shows a lack of understanding when it comes to evaluating football leadership, team chemistry, and overall performance. I donāt expect Bowles to be fired anytime soon, and I believe this season could end in complete disaster. Hopefully, the owners will eventually recognize the need for change and consider selling the team to an owner who has a stronger understanding of the game and how to build a successful organization. I understand that the buccaneers won a Super Bowl 6 seasons ago, but that fell directly on the knowledge and experience of Tom Brady. The decision of retaining Bowles has to have consequences. Fans and corporate business contribute to a gross revenue of approximately 120 million for home games. Itās disrespectful to the community and fans.

What is the common denominator? Every one of them knows that Todd Bowles is a LOSER. Looks like Bakerās shoulder injury last year may have been career ending. He canāt throw and is now 2-9 in his last 11 games. Who should have know that? Bowles? Of course. Licht? Absolutely. What do they do? New $165M contract. I reviewed the schedule again, I now am adjusting my win/loss tally for the season. I believe the Bucs can and will beat the Falcons both times. Thats it. No other wins. BUCS WILL HAVE A 2 WIN SEASON.

There are some real clowns on here but firethecannons takes todayās most ridiculous comment by far when he blames the coaches for Hurst dropping the game winning TD. Iām a Baker fan but he was bad today. Iāve said repeatedly for months that this O line canāt pass block, but they did enough to win as did the defense. Baker has to be better

You Baker bois blame the loss on Hurst, but the games Baker won last year were only by 2-3 points mostlyā¦ or he loses games by 2-3 points. Thatās not decisive winning.

I believe we are seeing a continuation of last year. Whatever was wrong is still wrong. I watched Denver and Jacksonville during the delay. Both offenses showed way more energy and played with more discipline than us. Both teams had way more bounce in their step too. I’ve been a huge defender of Todd and still like him as a coach but sometimes total change needs to happen to break a bad pattern. We have had something way wrong going on for at least 12 to 14 games. I’m including preseason. I’ve been a defender of Baker too. He is not playing close to a franchise QB level. I believe if Todd goes Jason, and Bruce needs to go too. At that point the new guys get to rebuild. I do not see a leadership foundation to build even a playoff team on. We fans are in for at least a couple of rough years. I think we have passed the break point Chucky is good option. I think tonight is a good time to start the rebuild with Chucky at the helm.

Stpete. I told you Baker is a bridge quarterback at this point of his career he’s not a franchise quarterback. He got his contract so it’s no more excuses for Baker!!

Go bucs 2027 I say it every post from top to bottom get rid of them all until then folks save your money don’t support this garbage we will have new coaches and players in 27 or after 51 years it’s time to say goodbye to this team and find something else to support before I completely blow a fuse hahaha toad will never be good baker has always sucked and all the players are way overpaid to do nothing the word is this is a SOFT bad team! 2027 bucs!

Our line is terrible. They cannot pass block.mayfield was under constant pressure. Heās an excellent scrambler- or even wretched Cleveland would have had 6 sacks by my count.

2 questions. What has happened to the Bucs Jason and Todd? Glazers, at this point I’m not so sure either of the names I wrote here should be around next season. It was time for Todd when we lost to Washington in the wildcard game. Detroit taught you something and you ignored that to. If you ask me I’m not sure about Baker right now, something happens when a player sings a high dollar contract here in Tampa. They forget how to play Zion how many times did he screw up yesterday? I need a paper bag in a few weeks if I show up for the loss.
