Baker had all day on the INT, and the missed throw on the opening drive to Hurst where he overthrew him.
The line has been fine. Baker has been the issue. When he loses confidence he will just hold the ball forever, refuses to make tight window throws, and people such as yourself think it’s the WR, the offensive line, the RBs, anyone but Baker that is the issue.
Let’s hope Baker snaps out of it – if he does, he can heat up really quickly.

Go back to that 2nd down play later. Look at the route tree Baker had to look at. They all had their backs turned running to the end zone leaving him with a single early option. 4 guys running routes past the LOS and only one of them looking at the QB before he had to bail out.

Pretty clear now that Baker’s poor play the 2nd half of last season was not due to injury. He’s picking up right where he left off last season. He has no arm. The few longer throws he’s attempted are weak, wobbly, and off target. Stupid move giving him all that money before he redeemed himself from last season. No team is going to want to pick up that dumb contract the Bucs gave him. What good does it do to have a loaded receiver room when your QB has a limp noodle arm.

Baker seems to have the deer-in-the-headlights look this game. He doesn’t appear to have any awareness of not only what the Browns’ defense is doing, but also of what his own OLine is doing to protect him. Doesn’t help that his receivers aren’t getting any separation, but still, we’re looking like a bottom-of-the-barrel offense today.
Good news though is that our defense is looking a lot better today than they did last Sunday. Either that or the Browns’ offense is doing so bad that any defense would look good against them.

Let’s hope this is FINALLY the turning point for Baker.
He was throwing with confidence for the first time this season – and Baker can heat up out of nowhere, so perhaps he’ll finally see a hot streak for the first time in a very very long time.
Then again, it’s one drive, vs a Browns team that got destroyed by the Jags last week, so it might be a one off, but whatever, it was at least one good drive when it mattered and not just garbage times stats.

What’s idiotic is folks having the expectation of perfection by the line, coaching, skill players, but excusing the QB who makes the most damn money. Good QB play cures all that ills. Baker still takes too many shots. Love his running and passion, hat watching him get hit at the end of runs. I love when he gets his and then slides. I don’t like when folks expect perfection from everywhere but the QB. Apply the same standard is all I ask.

Yea dude, when you don’t have a vertical threat defenses play you different, we were like immediately after the Detroit game. You’ve read me say this before, not having Mike or a guy like Mike frees up a man in the defensive backfield. Outside of Mike, nobody has shown they can consistently stretch the field so all this horizontal stuff we do is easier to pick apart you can commit to defending the box which hurts your ability to run and pass.
2025 & 2024 two seperate losing streaks trigger by the loss of Mike(And Chris) and we looked like we looked today. Only difference was in ‘24 Coen regreouped and leaned on White-Irving even more.

The stadium is shockingly empty for opening day. The fan base has largely checked out on this team. There seems to be more excitement around USF. I threw a big pool party and no one even talked about the Bucs, only USF. Keeping Bowles was terrible from a fan base perspective, and I’m not sure the fan base is super keen on locking in Mayfield for another 3 seasons. It’s very hard to win playoff games when your QB seems to have bought back the turnover tradition of Jameis Winston. He’s the worst QB for turnovers in recent times.

For the ppl worried about bakers cap number, with the right HC (offensive, NOT DEF) you can get a good return out of him in ‘27 and ‘28 while finding your guy in the draft.
In fact, as long as we dump Todd, you can make a great case to draft one in the first round next April. Let him sit in ‘27 while you develop your program and coach up mayfield like Coen did. Then you have an asset on your roster that other teams want.
He’s an at best tier 2 qb but that has value in the league.

This team is talented. But when you get receivers wide open deep and your QB throws the ball several yards past them…you’re not going to win a ton of games. The last deep ball he threw incomplete, he had Tez wide open in the middle of the field with the safety out of reach and the guy on his outside hip. Throw the ball more inside with a little bit of air and let Tez run under it. Instead, he throws a rocket toward his outside shoulder, bringing him into the coverage where it would have been difficult, even if the pass was on the money. The next deep ball, he slips and throws a little off his spot and hits the first deep ball dime of the day. What was that- 1 for 6 on deep balls? All open, too. He’s just not that great past 15-20 yards.

If we had people working on top of the lights, of course, get them down from there.
But there is literally not a single recorded incident EVER of fans sitting in seats, in a stadium, getting hit by lightning. If it hits the stadium, it’s going to be the lights, whatever is up highest.
Also, sure, if there’s a lightning swarm around the stadium, same thing. But literally, one lightning strike east of Port Tampa and they halt the game. You kidding me? They never did this stuff in the past. I’d go to games at old Tampa Stadium and you’d see lightning storms in the distance and they only halted games when stuff got close – that made sense. Stopping games when you can’t see or hear it, is nonsense.

It’s great being at the game and hearing browns fans chant and you can’t disagree with them for being in the lead. Bucs offense was anemic passing behind the line of scrimmage for multiple plays. Defense fell down multiple times. Seems not much different than last year with the jets game. Should be easy win but no we have to make it an even game we lose.

I usually only comment in the off-season but after last week and today that will change. Our offense looks terrible, Baker can’t complete a long pass for some reason anymore (Definitely missing Evans bailing him out). Our O coordinator is trash like I suspected would happen.
Most importantly though is somehow after the last 2 seasons Bowles is still the HC and his defense continues to get worse. There is absolutely no excuse against the Browns with Watson as their QB to give up anything. The d-line looks terrible and when they get pressure can’t finish. The secondary looks asleep with absolutely everything open yards in front of them. Absolutely horrendous man coverage and often slow and or out of position in zone. Anzalone is garbage thus far can’t cover or tackle. Bain although a rookie I see looking lost on plays often and i have no idea why he is rushing from the left and not right where imo he shines, same for Diaby he would be better from the left imo giving more pressure in QB face to give Baine time to finish or QB to make a mistake. Put the damn higher pressure guy in the sight of the QB not behind him.

Baker’s not gonna be great without an o-line and receivers that don’t get open. Hate to break it to you guys that think great QBs don’t have weapons and proper protection. It’s just not accurate. That, mixed with poor play design is a recipe for disaster. Also, when the defense can’t stop a team from scoring late in the game due to poor coverage and missed tackles, I mean, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out. Poorly coached, and lacking any true top notch players is a not going to make a team good. But sure, blame Baker, who came up with some pretty clutch plays in this game, if that’s what makes you feel better. But wr all watched the game, and I’m pretty sure you guys realize that’s not accurate. Lol!

I like Licht as a personnel guy and I think he’s a good gm. My question is if a good young OC might want his own GM to take the job, ala Coen. Hopefully someone might see the value and want to work with him.
I’m also very concerned that the glazers are football incompetent and that Jason serves as their only executive that’s piped into the rest of the industry. I would hope they might hire a consultant to help with a search.

I’m sorry but just like with Mike Norvell in Tallahassee- it’s come to a point where fans don’t want to hear it anymore and it has to equate to Ws – we are watching the division (a division where we’ve barely won the years we won it) continuing to get better while we’ve gotten worse with cement feet- put up or shut up – we need a type A coach – that will demand more from everyone around him – it’s the GM and ownerships job to give the HC the resources to win and be successful- we have neither a HC that can win or the resources in a lot of areas to do so. So yes- licht has to go as does Bowles –

At what point do they realize that Bowles and what he calls a defense is not it, I get the offense and the issues, we have not had stability on offense for 5 years now but defense? new front 7, same issues. Bucs lost the game when they gave up playing when leading by ten points. Why? Would you rather be in the lead with two minutes to play and the other team has a wet field to try to tie and you return a well rested defense. I don’t think the Bucs have the heart to win this game.
