Just One Bucs Sack On 35 Joe Burrow Pass Attempt

September 13th, 2026

Most NFL defenses have a goal of at least one sack per 12 pass attempts.

The Bucs probably have a similar goal, but they were nowhere near it today with their revamped pass rush.

Inside linebacker Josiah Trotter got a coverage sack after a nice inside spin move while Bengals QB Joe Burrow completed 25 of 35 passes for 254 yards. That’s a 71.4 percent completion rate. Burrow was hit just six times.

The Bucs spent the offseason working on their defensive front, getting stronger, faster and tougher. That didn’t show up today in their 33-7 lost at Cincinnati. The pass rush looked neither consistent nor dangerous.

Yeah, the group probably needs more time, but the Bucs don’t have the luxury of a lot of time.

Joe certainly was hoping for more from the interior pass rush today. It didn’t show up.

Bain shorty arms just sucks…… cmon now
    Bain is a wasted pick.

  2. Nb Says:

Bain actually looks cooked. He’s small and completely invisible against NFL starters

  3. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Bad Toilet Bowles defense again…..it’s a broken record in Tampa

  4. Whatevs Says:

I thought Bain was going to tear this league up.

He can’t even open a Christmas present.

  5. Herbiebuc Says:

Are we going to get a replay of that Bucky fumble? sure looks like his knee hit the ground before he fumbled

  6. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Rightly said Nb

  7. BigZ Says:

I’ve been out on 50 for several years and its games like this. Zero effort.

  8. #99 The Big Fella Says:

Holy sh*t it’s one game you’re a bunch of pathetic crybabies

  9. Buxfansince76 Says:

How about going to a 4-3 like Monte rash and get after the WB. It’s $hit to see players like Vea, JPP and other pass rushers drop into coverage

  10. Whatevs Says:

I wonder why Bain dropped that far in the draft. It is as if other teams scouting departments did their jobs.

    Jason Licht…. Not so much

  11. BUC4L Says:

Play Welker. Anzalone sucks. Spot 21 lose by 6 Go f’n figure. Vea better show up next week.

  12. Whatevs Says:

Is it the steal of the draft if you open the box and it is cubic zirconia

  13. Boltsfan17 Says:

Front 7 is mediocre at best. Zero pressure as usual. How much longer fans before you stop supporting this garbage??

  14. MadMax Says:

D guys looked lost in coverage many times, especially when all it took was ONE guy to cover that TE on a big gain near the end. DROP WITH HIM, COVER HIM, GEEZE!!!!

  15. CottlevilleBuc Says:

Slways looks like eleven guys trying to pass through a doorway at the same time! Every year no mater the personnel.

  16. Sg5821 Says:

Can’t wait for the weekly Todd Bowles confidence Poll. That was a bad defensive performance. It was like the defense picked up from where they left off last season. And the common thing is Todd Bowles

  17. Alanbucsfan Says:

The D played ok. Bucs win this game by 10 points except for Mayfield clown show.
He can’t execute a deep ball completion and holds onto the ball too long inviting hits and sacks and turnovers.
Don’t expect it to get better as he starts ramping up the endorsement appearances.

  18. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

#99, lets be honest. THEY SUCKED. 3 TOs in one half?! ONE sack for the entire game!

Tell me something good. Oh wait, I know, if they wouldn’t have had those 3 TOs we might have been in the game? And if your aunt had balls she would be your uncle.

  19. Rod Munch Says:

Defense scored 7 points, gave up 9 points on drives where the offense didn’t turn it over.

But yea, the defense and their net 2 points given up was the issue.

But I do agree that there was one issue on defense, and that was Analzone, he was absolutely terrible.

  20. ocala Says:

I didnt understand why Nelson played so much. Did Walker even play?

  21. CosmoKramer Says:

Bain was nonexistent today. He’s a bust.

  22. BigZ Says:

#99, tell me what they did well today??

  23. BUC4L Says:

It’s one thing to lose the game because you suck. It’s another when you beat yourself because you just didn’t prepare enough. The first half was our preseason because let’s face it nobody played during the preseason but what one series? Coach your fired!

  24. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Vea hasn’t showed up the last three years!!!!……he’s overpaid too…..just like Baker!!!

……boy, they really robbed the Glazers

  25. Tom Edrington Says:

Joe led us to believe Rubin Bain would have at least five sacks………

  26. Let em bake Says:

    It’s. Week. One……… chill.

  27. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

    Same sh!t, different year.

I am ashamed I swallowed the hype once again.

  28. Scott Says:

Anzalone missed so many tackles, surprising. Bain got a lot of attention with being chipped quite a bit. He’ll figure this out, still just the first game. Wires with too many penalties too.

  29. Marky mark Says:

Dont blame the D. Loss on Baker. The good news is the Browns suck bad and the south losing although saints on to ot.

  30. ModHairKen Says:

Walker on special teams. Morrison tackling. Egbuka. Trotter.

    Everyone else sucked.

    Baker, sloppy. Unaware.

    Wirfs. Slow. Loafing.

Assalone. Biggest disappointment. Never seen a guy look that bad. Slipping. Sliding. Out of position.

Bain. Missing in action. Zero needle moved by him.

Robinson. Get the damn plays called.

    All can be fixed.

  31. BigZ Says:

    Anazalone is this years Reddick

  32. StormyInFl Says:

First nail in Bowles’ career coffin.

The defense was asleep. Except Trotter.

  33. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

I think we can now retire the “Tennessee-Ready” phrase and replace it with Cincinnati-Ready. Did La Vita Loco even have a tackle? Bake is back with 3 funbles = 21 points.

  34. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

@Rod, that Bengals drive at the end of the 1st half was ridiculous. Typical prevent (you from winning) defense. So easy Harry could go out there and look like Burrow.

  35. Marky mark Says:

Daniels should be optioned to Toronto for a season.. That CFL Bengals guy played great.

  36. HC Grover Says:

Bain looked like Plan 9 out there.

  37. Godlovesbucs Says:

Overall the d played well. The Todd Bowles problem was still glaring. Who covers the TE? No matter who the tight end is, they always have career games against a Bowles D.

  38. AK-BUCS-302 Says:

    TOXIC fans

  39. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

I am not really complaining about the defense, but they sucked too. One sack?!?!?

But what lost the game was 3 fumbles = 21 EASY points

    Anazalone is this years Reddick

    ——–

The issue with Reddick was lack of production. Analzone was much much worse – no production plus many bad plays. In fact in this one game, Analzone literally had more bad plays than Reddick had all last year. And I mean that literally. I counted at least 6 bad plays by Analzone, and I’m pretty sure he had at least 2 more on top of that. That’s a season full of bad plays for most players.

  42. johnnythemoon Says:

Someone open underneath espec on 3rd down .. How many years we have to watch it

  43. StormyInFl Says:

    Where was Vita at?

    Another overpaid bum.

  44. Obvious One Says:

    Yawn…

  45. TheBucsAnthem Says:

The Bucs lost the game in the 1st Half….really, the 1st quarter…..

How many times did they barely snapped the ball off in time???

Zac Robinson offense looks terrible too

  46. BucsFan81 Says:

The whole team sucks not just 1 person or 1 side of the ball. They look worse than last year. Hopefully it gets better.

  47. #99 The Big Fella Says:

    Senor Harry in Costa Rica
You will be the pathetic loser when they are actually winning this year saying I told you so..

  48. HC Grover Says:

    Bain the Pain….

  49. Bee Says:

I’m sure Bain will figure it out and get better. Bowles on the other hand…nah

I am not really complaining about the defense, but they sucked too. One sack?!?!?

    ———–

So they gave up, directly 26 points.

The Bucs defense directly scored 7 points.

Even if you want to claim the defense being put on the field at the Bucs 20-yard line should still result in no points given up … that would mean the Bucs defense gave up a net of 19 points. Against one of the leagues best offenses.

But yeah, they were awful and should be mentioned alongside Baker… LOL!

  51. StormyInFl Says:

    Lol… seriously?

Then I guess “overall” Baker played well, too.

    Neither is true.

The entire team – except for a few individuals- played like ass.

  52. CosmoKramer Says:

Wake up Floormatt!!! His boy forgot to coach it better!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

  53. BigZ Says:

Rod, Reddick sucked. Alex sucked today. Bottom line. JL went dumpster diving again. Has to now since he overpaid Bake abd fat Vita. More Akex and Reddick type players coming.

  54. #99 The Big Fella Says:

    BigZ
When your offense gives up four fumbles, you can’t really blame the defense

  55. Lakeland Says:

    I been telling y’all all off-season
    Josiah Trotter is a beast
He got mad skills, and he’s only 21
I think he’s going to be better than his father
And that’s a really, really tough task

    It’s just one game
I still think we can get 12 wins this season
Ruben Bain will be ok, no rookie gonna dominate his 1st game

    Relax

  56. J Says:

It wasn’t pretty, but half of the people here are ready to throw the baby out with the bath water. I’d much rather lose 3 or 4 games at the beginning of the season rather than in December.

Bain will probably be the most disappointed and I expect he might be staying late after every practice.

  57. jimmy Says:

bain didnt have a good day, was manhandled pretty easily most of the day. i expected more considering all of the off season noise. bengals did a better job on a defensive refresh at least from today’s results.

so just to be clear, todd couldnt have coached it better. according to todds post game remarks or one of 30 podcasts he will do this week declaring that fact.

  58. Outrigger Says:

Anzalone had what could’ve been the worst game I’ve ever seen a Bucs ILB play. If this continues he needs to be replaced. Him and Baker’s turnovers single-handedly lost this game

  59. Ryan Says:

All the off season hype for that… Bain was manhandled and didn’t look like he belonged on the field.

  60. BigZ Says:

#99, I’m glad you’re a fan as am I. But, they sucked today. Four turnovers and 1 sack is part of why. They have lost 8 of 10. Big money players and draft capital did not show up. Every week counts. Remember last year?

  61. Jerseybuc Says:

Radios defense was trash as usual trash TE ate him up. Couldn’t get a stop when it mattered same soft 12 yards off defense no pressure round n round. Trash.
Can’t believe I gotta watch his defense again this year

  62. BigZ Says:

Meanwhile looks like NO hit on Shough. Not good for us or our 55 mil qb

  63. Bosch Says:

Neither Kancey nor Vea recorded so much as an assist (each had 1 QB hit). Should have traded Vea and should not have picked up option on Kancey.

Had a bad feeling about Bain coming into the game with all the hype that surrounded him. One thing you can count on from Licht is that whenever he fawns over a player, he winds up embarrassing himself. I would put the O/U on Bain’s season sack total at about 4.

    Gotta love Trotter.

Injury in the secondary right out of the gate. Good thing it is Cleveland coming next.

  64. UKBuccaneer Says:

Nobody is pretending baker played well – you can’t turn the ball over like that, but there were issues all over. No pass rush. LB’s looked rough all day. And yet they hung in there and showed enough to stay in contact. The sky isn’t falling just yet.

  65. Marine Buc Says:

Hey Rubin Bain – Welcome to the NFL kid! LOL!!!!

Hey Baker – WTF? Not 1. Not 2. But 3 MF fumbles?

Hey T. Wirfs – pull your head out of your posterior please and like right now!

Hey Anzalone – I figured you were washed when we got you but you proved it today.

    Brutal loss.

    Tough loss.

But there is room for improvement…

I’m worried about Parrish. If he is injured we are screwed.

  66. Nb Says:

Here is the problem. Tod’s terrible zone defense

  67. #99 The Big Fella Says:

Well I do have to agree Anzalone had a bad game. Probably the worst I have ever seen him play

  68. BucDaddy Says:

    1. Did Bain play? Seriously I never heard his name or saw him.

    2. Also for all those worried about resigning Diaby and Mauch, I’ll take a hard pass on both.

    3. Bowels is an embarrassment as a D-Coordinator, only times we stopped them is when they thought the game was out of reach

    4. Baker has top ten talent and bottom 10 discretion and until he learns to correct that we will be about an 8-9 team. Plays every play like it is 4th and goal in the Super Bowl. Take a lesson from Burrow, throw it away, slide, live to fight another day. I predict he won’t make it past thanksgiving without a serious or nagging injury

    5. The talk of “this is a top 10 O-line” is comical. Then Baker has to cover for their indiscriminate let a man come completely free plays. Perfect match for a disaster, an oline that blows call and qb that trys to get out of everything

    6. Emeka is not a number one, he is a good number 2. Put in Hurst, live with any rookie mistakes it will be worth it

    7. Bucky is a great utility back, but he needs to know when to set out too, or he will be out by thanksgiving

    8. Otten is a bottom 5 tight end, he is a lock to kill at least one if not two or more drives a game with a ball bouncing off his facemask

    9. Tons of false starts. Plus can’t get the snap off in time?? Reflection of the joke that is Bowels, no team discipline.

    10. I would say the corners played good, despite all the doom and gloom about that unit. D-line was atrocious

    11. Our kicker is the team mvp, make sure you sign him

    That is all.

  69. Erik with Clean Athletics™ Says:

Bain shouldn’t play any more until his shoulder is 100%.

Anzalone had what could’ve been the worst game I’ve ever seen a Bucs ILB play.

    ————

This game was Chris Conte bad…
This game was Ryan Smith bad…

It was a historically bad game.

  71. 813bucboi Says:

Morrison played great….worried about Parrish….hope he’s ok….SVD looked better lol

    GO BUCS

  72. Canabuc Says:

    So which nickname is better

    Analzone
    Or

    Assaloni

  73. Ant Says:

That defense can get better and we can move the ball i aint worried. Yall watch the rams game or are you casuals?

  74. Justin Says:

Sacks or no sacks….The defense forced 1 punt and 1 turnover. That’s flat not good enough.

  75. 80sBucsfan Says:

Anzalone is pure trash. Jason LIcht is a JOKE. Mu-whatever his name is another joke. Lions casts offs. Licht is NOT a ring of honor GM. He isn’t.

This team is headed for serious trouble.

  76. Smoky Mountain Buc Fan Says:

You same pathetic fans and moderators will be chanting superbowl when the Bucs destroy the other team from Ohio next week.

  77. Natron Says:

    The Bain of our existence

  78. AquaBum Says:

Ppl calling Bain a busted their head examined. Week 1 ladies, give him time

  79. gotbbucs Says:

Pointless to complain when you know exactly what youre going to get every season. Bowles is nothing if not consistent.

  80. El Hefe Bucc Says:

Funny thing is it wasn’t the defense that was that bad this game think about it if Baker would’ve at least got us close enough to get the three field goals instead of three fumbles then we would’ve won the game

  81. Justin Says:

Bain isn’t a bust. I’ve been saying this since the draft. He’s a 4-3 Defensive End stuck playing LB for a 3-4 team. It doesn’t mesh. He’s playing out of position, and it will impact his performance. He’ll be much better next year when we’ve fired Bowles and we’re running a 4-3 defensive scheme.

  82. Slacker Says:

Robinson is trash, no upgrade from grizzard, o line isn’t their supposed strong suit, and all the hype about the front four and nothing. Add in the fact that anzalone was basically the same as Dennis. Sloppy with the ball, etc, etc, etc….Gameday is all that matters and the truth shined out

  83. LakelandSteve Says:

I’m not worried about Bain, he’s a rookie and those wanting to coronate him as the sack King need to chill. What was worrisome is Vita Vea was invisible. He never got any kind of push inside like he normally does. Hopefully this is just because he held out for so long and doesn’t have his football legs yet.

  84. Rod Munch Says:

    33 points given up.

-7 was directly Baker fumbling the ball.

    = 26 points given up.

Additionally, the Bengals got the ball at the Bucs 31 and the Bucs 44. Even in the base case scenario, that’s at least 6 points given up (two FGs).

    So 26 – 6 = 20 points given up.

Plus the defense scored 7 points.

So that’s, at worst, 13 net points given up by the defense to a top offense.

ANYONE talking about the defense today has zero credibility.

  85. Canabuc Says:

I agree and actually thing we are better personnel wise to play 4-3.

Diaby, walker Bain Roberts and Neslon all seem more like defensive ends. Kancey as a 3 technique with Vea as anNT
Trotter plays like a Mike Analzone as a Will.

  86. Arnie platz Says:

Someone put a missing persons poster with Ruben Bains picture on it at the gas station I just stopped at lol

  87. Rob5 Says:

Although im not surprised they lost today but the hype
coming from the gm about our defense line looking good and them not showing up is disappointing.. i’ve learned my lesson about listening to them before the real games start because them going against each other in practice doesen’t mean jack squat…

  88. Smoke Porterhouse Says:

Have you guys been watching the Bucs defense the last 4 years? Things that are a given for a Bowles defense in that time:

    Lack of pass rush
Terrible ILB play (although Trotter looked good today), White/Britt/Dennis/Anzalone
    Sloppy “tackling”/missed tackles
TE’s being open more often than not

  89. Day1-76 Says:

I love how everyone was so excited about the Anzalone signing. We’re better off with Sirvocea.

Also, Lakeland always contradicts him/herself (I don’t know). About Bain, “No rookie is going to dominate in their first game”. Yet Josiah Trotter looked like a World Beater in his first game. 11 tackles, 2 for loss, 1 sack, and a pick six. Seems pretty dominate to me.

Wipe the Lobster butter and Caviar, you’ve been enjoying after signing your new contract off your hands, Baker, and hold onto the damn ball.

  90. Sam Says:

Why is Todd Bowles the dc. Why is he still coach…..

  91. Anyhony Says:

33-7? It did feel that bad!

  92. BUC4L Says:

Look the guys that begged for the money lost us the game today. Because they failed to do their job. Go to the chalk board and try again! Lots of football left but figure it out! Don’t play stupid football! Go Bucs!

  93. Mveal2006 Says:

Hopefully Bain Annalise vita kalian et Al have some fuel. To get better. Baker match and otten too

  94. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

This is why the starters needed to play a lot more in preseason games. Lots of penalties, couldn’t get plays in and out of the huddle. You have a lot of new players on both sides of the ball. The fact that baker turned the ball over so many times and they were still in the game late says if they can clean that up it will be better. Trotter and Morrison played well.

  95. Sam Says:

Defense is a joke……head coach is a clown and a joke

  96. HopeIn1Hand… Says:

    Two more good things:

Chase has 2 catches for 12 yards.

No one is wondering why the Bucs lost today.

  97. mj Says:

the bengals were big and fast and strong and better than the bucs, baker stinks what a joke fix it by the end the year, maybe jalon will start 🙁

  98. Kayla Says:

Tampa Bain!!?? LOL! I told you guys for weeks Mims would make Bain his short-armed B. And that’s exactly what happened.

  99. #99 The Big Fella Says:

I do recall a couple guys calling preseason worthless

  100. RJBucNut Says:

Why are you guys not writing about how horrible Anzalone was today? He was worse than Dennis was last year! Heck he got benched for Dennis at the end of the game. Very disappointed performance from the vet!

  101. Td Says:

Typical toilet Bowles defense. No pressure wide open in the middle

  102. Buckit Says:

We’ll see with Bain, but what about Winfield? He is in no way one of the top safeties in the league. He did nothing today, and i saw him shying away from sticking his nose in gaps where the ball carrier was. Never seems to be where he is supposed to be in pass coverage either. And Anzalone, get a haircut dude, the flowing locks are a thing of your past.

  103. dennis Says:

give Bain a break if Burrow dont throw ball right to TROTTER most were roasting him in the chat

  104. dennis Says:

Dennis never looked as bas as azalone just not true azalone had at least 5 misss tackles Voss had 14 on the year

  105. dennis Says:

Trotter looked bad for almost 3 quarters. what game did you all watch. had the 2 splash plays but was very mid for the game
