Walker showed off an entire repertoire/toolbox of pass rushing movies in that first game. Arm-overs. Spin moves. Hop-steps. He made life very difficult for Fashanu in the limited reps he had against him. He also caused the pick-6. Not quite a sack but even better. It was a fantastic start for him. Edge rushers don’t get sacks on every play but Walker fairly routinely beat the person lined up across from him and BOTH the starters and the backups double-teamed him multiple times. He also successfully set the edge in the run game every time he needed to.

They won’t be able to do that if Vea is starting.

Lee simply doesn’t want Bowles to be our coach and there’s no amount of intelligent arguments that will convince him otherwise. I’ve tried but he ignores my comments. And Bowles will certainly not hurt Bain’s chances of excelling at this level. That’s a ludicrous train of thought. Bowles once minimized the importance of pass rushing edges because we didn’t have any good ones on our roster and he’s turned that into some kind of vendetta against him.

You guy’s keep saying the game’s tonight. Quit giving me a heart attack!
Hang in there! Yes, it was going to publish in the early a.m. but it went early.–Joe

  3. Erik with Clean Athletics™ Says:

Bowles WAS the DC when Shaq Barrett set the sack record, correct?

So, technically Bowles has had more success with an edge rusher here than any other coach we’ve ever had in a single season.

But I understand the frustration with Bowkes’ scheme and I share in it.

But when we had Shaq and JPP, we were singing Bowles’ praises in regard to our edge rush.

They obviously were suppose to put this out tomorrow?? I guess!?

  5. MonsVenusVIP Says:

@Erick good points. Maybe they’ll turn it around. We all shall see.

Ira is spot on noting that we should expect 2024 Bucky Irving with a healthy OL which is 5+ yards per touch. That’s healthy Christian McCaffrey territory. A healthy Mayfield and healthy WR corp could push he and Gainwell both there. Maybe Williams and Tucker too. The injuries of 2025 have me looking more at the 2024 Bucs as a frame of reference for 2026 prognostications regarding the Bucs’ offense. I have more faith in the personnel on offense if they stay healthy than I do Zac Robinson to make this a redemption campaign. I don’t care who gets the credit for a turnaround but if this roster stays healthy it can come out of the gates dangerous and stay that way as deep as WR and RB seem to be.

Re: the todd comments, definitely think one of the verbal agreements as part of Vea’s new deal was for him to cast some positive light on the team after the less than ideal coverage they’re rightfully endured these past few months.
