Todd Bowles Said Josiah Trotter Got Noticed In Pads
August 3rd, 2026The first day for hitting at One Buc Palace for 2,500 or so fans today was also about not hitting too hard.
Not listed in Joe’s practice notes was SirVocea Dennis shoving Bucky Irving out of bounds into sea of fans that looked very close to a late hit. That, of course, was bad form. But it was clear the Bucs also were being very careful not to hit much off the line of scrimmage. Not a ton of pad-popping sound effects from this day.
But one guy Joe can hear engage is physical rookie linebacker Josiah Trotter.
Todd Bowles acknowledged he made plays and got noticed.
“I saw a lot of yellow flags but I saw a lot of physicality, as well,” Bowles said of the team effort. “We knew [Trotter] would show up in pads. I mean, he’s a physically ballplayer. I gotta see the tape and make sure he’s doing the right things. But he made a couple of plays”
Joe will take it. The Bucs need to see major improvement at inside linebacker.
Veteran inside linebacker and defensive playcaller Alex Anzalone is the biggest linebacker the Bucs have had in years. He and Trotter could be a physical and reasonably fast duo.

Trotter. Scott. Bain.
They could be a good base for the next HC and GM
August 3rd, 2026 at 1:06 pm

GO BUCS!!!!

…and there would be a certain segment of the Krewe that claims the Super Bowl they win (if they win one) should be credited to Bowles.
You know the ones.

The franchise needs him to pan out SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO badly, when you are bad at evaluating Defensive talent for years you need picks like Bain, Trotter and Scott to be good
August 3rd, 2026 at 1:27 pm
I’m just as guilty as the next comment poster here, but if these new players we like play like we hope, there’s a good chance that “new coach” talk is moot.
August 3rd, 2026 at 1:34 pm
Trotter looked huge in pads.
August 3rd, 2026 at 1:49 pm
Well we definitely need a Hardy Nickerson type at LB for sure
August 3rd, 2026 at 1:50 pm
We sure could use a Hardy Nickerson type Guy at the LB position for sure

30-years ago today… Bucs lose to Miami, 13-10 in preseason opener. First game for Dungy as coach, and Jimmy Johnson’s tenure in Miami.
SURE, BUCS LOST, BUT THEY LOOKED LIKE WINNERS
New Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Tony Dungy had to wear a bright pink field pass to gain access to the sideline at Joe Robbie Stadium. Then during the exhibition game Saturday against the Miami Dolphins, not only did a cameraman for a Miami TV station keep zeroing in on Bucs defensive backs coach Herman Edwards instead of Dungy, a stadium announcer referred to him as “Dungeon.”

When you bank on three rookies to save your season and HC\DC, that’s the result of a lot of poor executive decisions and very poor coaching.
The results will be self evident once the season starts.
Todd is on the clock and he’s clutching at straws now.

Evans down with a Quad in SF.
Their WR room is taking a pounding.
August 3rd, 2026 at 2:18 pm
@ElioT The substation is hungry.
August 3rd, 2026 at 2:19 pm
anybody catch that ME is out with a Quad issue. Shocking!!
August 3rd, 2026 at 2:21 pm
Yo Joe
I guess even though Jadaveon Clowney isn’t good enough to make the Bucs roster but he’s good enough to play on the Texans defense
Make it make sense
Todd “We like the guys we got” Bowles

Shhhhhhh bro….. You’re going to be accused of wearing rose colored glasses and shaking pom poms 🤣

Mike Evans quad strain.
You take a guy with hammy issues, then you make him practice next to the infamous Silicon Valley Power electrical substation with it’s electromagnetic injury causers… that was built on an ancient native American burial ground (probably), what do you expect?
😆
I give him props for having the courage to go play for the 49ers given his age and all of the above! 😂
August 3rd, 2026 at 2:55 pm
Mike who?
Mike Jones??
August 3rd, 2026 at 3:50 pm
Back then hoes didn’t want me
August 3rd, 2026 at 3:56 pm
Every team in the league is talking about their great rookie class at this time of year.
What are they gonna say, “Our #1 draft choice is a bust in his dirty underwear.”???
The preseason will show some, but not much. Get back to me about greatness at the end of October.
And even then adjustments will be made by opponents. Remember how great #2 was until he paid his dues into the Invisible Man Club?
August 3rd, 2026 at 3:56 pm
Mike Evans may end up having a good year, but I thought it was not nearly as big a deal as it was being made out that he left the Bucs. He is a HOF player that is most likely going to still show moments of greatness, but he is starting to become injury prone and therefore not reliable.

I’m thinking ARod went to the Dolphins 3 picks before we got Trotter. Why would anyone worry he had an MCL tear and missed his senior year of high school football. And then he tore his ACL and missed his entire season at West Virginia in2023? And, I mean, so what he missed his Missouri team’s bowl game 7 months ago so he could have another knee surgery. His dad and brother played NFL football. He’s a great football player. Don’t get me started on B Morrison, why should a cornerback need solid hips? His dad played NFL football. If these 2 guys ever see the field 17 times in a season I’ll eat my words. But if they are busts, I’d put a microscope on every last detail of Jason Lichts job here. Without Brady and Baker, I believe he’s got the worst record of any GM in the history of the game with as long a tenure.
August 3rd, 2026 at 5:49 pm
Sounds like Trott’s been looking for a nail, even with the limited contact.
August 3rd, 2026 at 6:02 pm
Dennis shoving Bucky late out of bounds? Dennis must realize his days in Tampa, maybe football altogether are numbered.
August 3rd, 2026 at 6:33 pm
Nobody to be afraid of on last year’s defense. So unless Bain and Trotter bring it, still nobody to be afraid of…. Who’s the intimidator???
August 3rd, 2026 at 7:24 pm
813- -just to set the record straight, Bain fell into Licht’s lap.
August 3rd, 2026 at 7:34 pm
@Simple T,
Guilty as charged. I would rather be optimistic before the season kicks off.
Right now I am saying 11-6 for the year. Locking in the prediction on Labor Day.
Setting myself up for disappointment? Perhaps. But if I’m wrong the end result is a new coach, so it’s house money. I can’t lose!
August 3rd, 2026 at 7:46 pm
“I can’t lose”. Oh, for shlts sake, Drunk BucsFan! An excellent bet, and you ain’t got the experience to know that jinx is a word for a reason. Man oh man!!
August 3rd, 2026 at 8:04 pm
So you’re saying I could have jinxed us into a 6-11 year, then the Glazers tell Todd “OK, you get one more year…..”
If so, a bottle of fine Lugo’s rum for everyone, my treat!!
August 3rd, 2026 at 8:14 pm
I read that he and McCollum were two of the major standouts on defense today. Trotter was overpowering the offensive linemen and getting into the backfield constantly, according to reports. No reports on him doing anything in coverage, however.
The other notables were Bain and Walker applying major pressure and “sacks”.
August 3rd, 2026 at 8:51 pm
@Drunk Bucs Fan
Good for you bro 👍🏼
Just as easy to see how things could go right as wrong.
I see a sh&t load of changes to our team and nearly all of it good. Easy to see 11 wins if we stay healthy and the new OC gets us back top 10. I think our D will be much improved with more dogs across the line, new ILBs etc
August 3rd, 2026 at 9:00 pm
Drunk Bucs Fan. Not Lugos. A nice sipping rum, please. On the rocks. And a fine Cuban Cigar, thank you very much.
And start knocking on some wood, for Gods sake!!!
August 3rd, 2026 at 11:41 pm
Or perhaps a nice Eagle Rare…….
Wait, I think we are getting off track. Eŕr…uhhh….Go Bucs!
August 4th, 2026 at 10:32 am
Huh? No pad popping? Is this pop warner? Did somones mom complain to the league? That really is disapointing Joe. This team was soft, out of shape and was not interested in tackling last year! I want to see some scrums afer the whistle!
Where is Jensen!
Go Bucs!
