Player Comments Clash With Team Glazer Read
June 17th, 2026YaYa Diaby recently said 2025 Bucs film reveals a team with players lacking juice and/or a love for football.
Diaby’s take made Baker Mayfield’s new comments about the 2025 defense more interesting.
Joe soaked it all in and talked about it with Sage of Tampa Bay sports Ira Kaufman on his recent podcast. Kaufman noted how Team Glazer told Joe the following in April.
“You see week in and week out, this team plays hard for Todd [Bowles] and nobody lays down,” Buccaneers co-owner and Raise The Flags co-star Joel Glazer said at the NFL owners meetings in April. “You’ll have the odd game where things don’t quite go your way, but every game til the final whistle, these players are fighting, fighting, fighting.”
So why was Team Glazer seeing a fight-to-the-finish roster and Diaby was not? And if ownership was so proud of the warrior mentality of the roster, why did Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht emphasize getting tougher this offseason?
Joe thinks the questions are fair. Bucs fans learned from the fantastic Raise The Flags documentary — edited and produced by Team Glazer — that Bucs owners are firmly involved in decisions that chart a course for the franchise.
So if Team Glazer really thinks the Bucs played hard for Todd Bowles throughout last season, and Bowles’ evaluation included that perception, Joe would consider that problematic.
Perhaps Team Glazer is in the Diaby camp and was simply publicly backing the head coach.

Something’s not clicking.

Joe … ‘So why was Team Glazer seeing a fight-to-the-finish roster and Diaby was not?’
Articles like this Joe question motivations, and can cause ‘problematic’ concerns among ownership, management, coaches & players. Small wonder why all of those groups league-wide are very measured in how they speak to the press.

Very astute Joe, good recall on the Glazer statement.

Haha yeah no kidding there’s a disconnect.
Many of us fans wondered for the last 2 years if Bucs brass and owners actually watched games.
What was it… 70-80% of polled fans think Bowles is outta his depth and losing good OCs is and has been a problem for the future (current) years of Bucs football.
The players confirm what we all watch but Glazers and Licht are Bowles buddy. The old boys club is alive and well.

It’s actually insane. I held Licht in much higher regard up until 5 months ago.
Bowles has completely pulled the wool over their eyes and now when Todd leaks on our heads, Licht and the Glazers call it a nice rain.

Im sure if you polled all NFL players on why they play hard and are super competitive making the head coach happy would be pretty low on their list of reasons. I’d assume wanting to win, career goals, fighting for the players next to them, and basic competitive nature and love for the sport would all rank as way higher priorities. So saying if they were laying down it’s on the head coach is silly too. Perhaps they felt they couldn’t win no matter how much effort they put in since the defense wasn’t playing well and the offense was completely stuck in neutral make a lot more sense?

Right. That’s how the Glazers saw it. That’s why they kept Bowles.
Jesus. God.

2026 will be a lost season.

The Glazerettes have become a laughing stock since the end of the 2025 Bowleslapse.

Coach speak = owners speak.

The glazers need to develop a head coach and qb. They never have.
Dungy doesn’t count. It was their dad.
The franchise has always “bought” the right guy to win the trophy.
The good news is they developed Jason. So they’re capable.
The chefs (yes I spelled their name correctly) couldn’t develop a gm, HC or qb capable of winning the SB until they could.
Gotta have the stones man.

Good to see #13 in the huddle above. So fortunate Jason was able to keep him and launch Twocoach.
Oh, wait.

Hmm don’t wanna end up with multiple posts by mistake.
Stpetematt… it’s not all in Bowles but he’s the HC and DC. The D has sucked. David is loafing, Baker calling the D out, Diaby thinks the tape looks bad.
Sit a veteran down and promote practice squad guys who are motivated and wanna make it. Bowles just ho hums through walk through practices and then has one meltdown but yet nothing changes.
Kept the inept ST coach all year… it’s embarrassing. Us fans have deserved better with this roster the last 3 years.
