“They Look To Be Slow On Defense”

Joe suspects Lincoln Kennedy is still bitter the Bucs crushed his Raiders in the Super Bowl.
Or, Kennedy needs glasses.
Or, Kennedy was just making stuff up on FOX Sports Radio this afternoon, aired locally on WDAE-AM 620.
Kennedy briefly broke down the Bucs-Saints game on the air and was confident the Saints will bounce back in a big way.
All the former offensive lineman had to say about the Bucs was that “they look to be slow on defense.”
Now there’s a lot of negatives about the Bucs’ defense one could intelligently hurl out there, but “slow” surely isn’t one of them.
That’s got to be the most ridiculous, ill-informed Bucs commentary since yesterday, when a local beat writer downplayed the Bucs’ nine interceptions.

I doubt many of these prognosticators actually watch significant film on all the teams in the league before commenting on them. They probably watch the big names and whoever their favorite team is and then maybe catch a few highlights of a team like the bucs. Of course you can’t analyze a team you haven’t watched thoroughly thats why there is no reason to actually pay attention to national media talking heads.

Our guys are under sized and run fast, but they are slow in terms of being able to shed blocks and react to the play. I’m not sticking up for the guy, but maybe this is what he was referring to.

I doubt thats what he was referring to. He probably hasn’t seen five minutes of Buc football all year and just glanced at a stat sheet showing the Bucs run defense ranking and made that up on the spot so he didn’t have to admit “I don’t know a damn thing about the Buccaneers.”

I don’t think anybody really knows what to make of the Buccaneers since they are such a surprise thus far.

I hate to be a contrarian but Steve White has said we have been really slow off the snap on the line. As an OL, that could be what he is talking about.
