Tom Brady Magic Saves Bucs (Again)

December 26th, 2022

Winner.

Twitter was alive with folks wanting to throw Bucs quarterback Tom Brady into Tampa Bay. They were done with the 45-year old who played like anything but a farm animal.

And then, like the wrestler “The Undertaker,” at the last moment Brady awakened from the dead and took over for a win.

Just like he did against garbage teams like the sorry Baker Mayfield-less Rams and the slimy Saints, against a trash team like the Cardinals, Brady and the Bucs trailed by two scores against a franchise in full-blown disarray,

Not big deal. Not even a dumbarse playcall by failing Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich on third down late in the game could stop Brady (Joe apologizes for being redundant). Bucs fans just had to wait a little while.

One gentleman on Twitter mocked those who want Brady back next year. Joe proudly raises his hand to be in that group. Give Brady a competent offensive coordinator and watch out.

Brady still has magic in that right wing of his.

i can’t wait till next season when brady will choose a competent oc for the team that will know what the hell he’s doing.

  2. ElioT Says:

Brady looks like he’s done with the Bucs.

  3. JimmyfromNY Says:

Again, he was hardly good for most of the game but in the fourth quarter and overtime he was immense and did what he does wills teams to victory. Will beat Carolina and Atlanta and Dallas.

  4. Daniel Robbins Says:

    Brady is toast.

He looks like last season of drew Breese. Can’t complete a deep pass.

  5. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Agree. Fresh and healthy OL, a couple new players and most importantly a new OC, Brady might enjoy football again.

  6. tbbucs3 Says:

We really gonna act like Brady wasnt god awful up until the last 5 minutes? Short memories

Bradys not coming back here and the teams interested in a declining 46 year old will be VERY limited

  7. RGA Says:

Brady needs a good offensive line, not happening right now.

  8. LakelandSteve Says:

Give Brady a competent O.C. And competent offensive line and look out.

  9. sasquatch Says:

    Undeserved win.

Why do wins under Todd Bowles feel like losses?

  10. JimmyfromNY Says:

Another troll take Drew Brees couldn’t throw the ball 20 yards down the field. This Buvs team has three wins at most without Brady. Down 10 points he did what he had to do. Most of you were calling him for being benched you’ll lose that game going away with a back up in there. You guys don’t deserve him

  11. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

You’re dreaming!! He was the main reason they were in that spot! The Cardinals gave it up! Tom didn’t take it!! Against a team that’s not 4-10 starting a QB who hasn’t played in 4 years since college they lose this game by 24!! Tom has given it away what? 10 times in the last 3 games with UGLY turn overs?!? He’s 45 he’s done!! … The Cardinals gave him plenty of room to throw those suck ass 5 yard gains! Again the cards lost it the bucs didn’t win it!!

  12. Rod Munch Says:

The moment Brady leaves, that’s the moment that Tampa goes back to being the NFL’s backwater – no national TV games outside of what the NFL forces networks to carry, no more top selling jerseys, no national buzz, nothing.

Those eager to run off Brady are morons, clearly bandwagon riders who haven’t been fans for long, because if they had, they know what is on the other side, what happens once Brady is gone, what happens when the Bucs are going 5-12 every year and people forget the city has a franchise.

I’ll gladly go down swinging with Brady for as long as he wants to play. BUT they have to fire these loser coaches if Brady stays. You can not have this complete idiot Leftwich calling plays ever again if you want to win. Now, if Brady retires, and you’re tanking to get the top pick in 2024, then sure, bring back Leftwich and Bowles next year, but if you want to actually try winning, Leftwich has to go, and that’s been the last for the last 16 weeks.

  13. C2asante Says:

So let me get it straight, Brady is responsible for the win but Leftwich is responsible for all his missed throws and turnovers. Must be nice to be white…

  14. FortMyersDave Says:

Sasquatch: Bowels makes even a comeback win like this feel like an @ss beatdown by the opposition. I saw the early line for Carolina and Tampa. Bucs by 6.5. WTF? You’d think Vegas would have learned from tonight that the Bucs should not be favored over anyone, let alone by almost a TD!

  15. sasquatch Says:

All you people b!tching about the offensive line are missing something. Brady was not sacked.

The O-line has not been great, but the play calling is the real problem. If an offensive coordinator can keep a defense off balance, suddenly the running lanes open up. This is on BowlWich. 100%

  16. tbbucs3 Says:

“Give Brady a competent O.C. And competent offensive line and look out”

    Look out for what?

If it wasnt for the Bucs defense keeping Brady in all these close games the Bucs with Brady would have 3 wins.

  17. JTHV Says:

Brady Magic was the reason why the Bucs didn’t win this game 30+ to ??

Stop acting like he’s not the biggest problem on offense without 3 All-Pro offensive lineman blocking for him.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Brady was part of the reason why we had to come back from 10 down…..and he is part of the reason why we won.

The Defense was also part of the reason why we won.

I could be wrong but I don’t recall a single penalty on the defense tonight.

  19. FortMyersDave Says:

Rod, I agree, Leftwich has to go but that means that Bowels has to go as well. I mean, who in their rigjht mind would want to be on the staff of a coach that is going to have a red hot seat if the Glazers choose to keep him? No one will want to be OC under Bowels so I think the Bucs have to jettison Bowels along with Leftwich and lets not forget that trash special teams coach, he has to go as well.

  20. tbbucs3 Says:

“This Buvs team has three wins at most without Brady”

WRONG! This Bucs teams without a good defense would have 3 wins.

Who you do think keeps Brady in all these close games with a dreadful offense?

  21. Mike C Says:

    C2asante, real classy

  22. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

I love the people that are like “if he had a good offensive line and a good OC and better receivers and running backs he would be good again duurrr!!” Lol … Yeah dude that’s ANY NFL QB!! Lol … Brady is the best QB to every play there’s no denying that but he’s not a super human and age catches up with everyone and eventually your reflexes get MUCH slower!! That’s what I saw tonight is his reflexes are gone!! In hurry up he’s going more on instinct and timing but you can’t go in hurry up every play!! And when he has to read the defense and his receivers he’s just a second slow and that’s what age does to you!! You can’t beat time even if you’re Tom!!

  23. Bucc941 Says:

The Defenses Magic saves the bucs season again*

  24. Vancouver Buc Says:

His shoulder has been bum since he got hit early in the season. The Dude just doesn’t go from his top form in last year’s playoffs to washed up in a matter of a few months.

  25. unbelievable Says:

Uh, playoff Lenny and Rashad White saved the Bucs.

Tom was just there for the ride. These last 2 games he’s been a problem.

  26. Tee Says:

The defense and Succop won this game hands down. We got lucky. Brady was off…AGAIN. He doing just enough at the end. But it doesn’t happen if the Defense doesn’t hold serve. Bowles pissing me off but he does call the defense.

  27. Derobbins Says:

    Jimmy. You’re blind.

Sure Tom can take advantage of a defense on their heels to drive down the field.

But all he does is underthrow the deep ball. It’s bad. Stop being such a Homer and stop calling people trolls.

  28. ScottyMack Says:

Same thing I have seen all season … Bucs offense move like you always hoped it would every time they go into hurry-up. They were in hurry-up for the TD, the tying field goal and the winning field goal – three straight drives.

It’s up to you to decide if this is because Brady is calling the plays and not Leftwich or if it is solely because the defense cannot make substitutions.

Either way, why the Bucs do not make this a major part of their gameplan for most of the game is absolutely beyond me, other than that Bowles is worried they’ll score too fast or go three and out too fast, leaving the only thing he seems to care about – his defense – too tired to perform at their peak.

  29. Anonymous Says:

The Bucs have a loser mentality but Brady refuses to quit. Game should have been put away in the first half. How could they not get a 1st down on 2nd and 1? Why is there always a penalty when Brady throws a TD? That was a hard game to watch. In fact I was watching music videos in the second half and had the game on mute. And why is Brady always throwing into tight windows, can’t a receiver ever be schemed open? These coaches are horrible but I don’t care. Brady will play for a well coached team next year and regain his GOAT ways.

  30. unbelievable Says:

I agree with you Vancouver, he’s definitely been injured. And it does not seem likes healing.

If only we had an offensive coordinator who knew how to scheme to his players strengths and mask their weaknesses… instead we have Moron Leftwich.

  31. FortMyersDave Says:

The defense won it for the Bucs tonight. A defense without Vita Vea. I am beginning to think the big fellow might be an overall bust just like his UW teammate Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, he sure as hell cannot stay healthy!

  32. The Beer Whisperer Says:

I’m not making excuses for Brady, but his throwing hand is hurting him.
He don’t even use his hand to break his fall, when he goes down. He holds his hand up strangely, when he goes down.

I noticed this last week, and tonight again.

  33. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

Rod I’m 44 and have watched every game since I was 12 and wear their gear almost every day… Tom is my all time favorite player aside from Mike Evans! I think Tom is done tho! That doesn’t make me less of a fan!! Just means I’m paying attention and understand the game and what age does to your reflexes and timing!

  34. Bucanero Says:

Lenny made plays. Bucs offense is horizontal. We can’t make first downs even in third and short. It’s a lot of room to improve. Timing with Evans is an issue. Otton played bad enough to give Rudolph some reps. O-line is fried. This team is seriously challenged but still hangin on thanks to the defense let’s write a few articles on that note…

  35. sasquatch Says:

A competent offensive coordinator? I’m not sure anyone Bowles would consider hiring would end up looking competent running the offense the way he wants. I hope I’m wrong. But I expect Bowles will be back and the coordinator hire will determine whether he survives after next year. I’m not super confident he knows what the hell a good OC looks like.

  36. tbbucs3 Says:

The Joes immediately making this game about Tom Brady after a putrid quarterback performance is pretty pathetic when this game should only be about the defense and Ryan Succop

  37. SOEbuc Says:

    Daniel Robbins

Agreed. Got the Breese noodle arm. Whatever excuse people want to use, this year is far from GOAT material like we saw in 2020 and 2021, no matter what the conditions on offense are. He can’t go deep. Constant under throws and not connecting. How many yard’s would he have without Godwin???

  38. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

They said Brady went over to the WRs and told them what he wanted to do on the OT drive…and they did it.

I think most of the season it has been the coaching staff. The last two games, Brady has been extra rough, but most of the season it has been on the players and coaches.

To be fair, injuries forced us to play guys he didn’t work with in training camp (partly because of his time off).

I still say it would be totally different with Jensen playing.

I find that I am also willing to stick with Brady…though I doubt he will stick with us after this year.

I’m fairly certain the Glazers won’t fire the coaches before the end of the season.

It’s conceivable that we could still have a winning record this year. Might be a dream, but Brady has never had a losing season.

That said…IF we make the playoffs and IF Jensen is able to play in the playoffs, then anything is possible.

IF we end at 9 wins…I could see Bowels keeping his job and Lefty getting fired. Not saying I agree with it.

No point in firing anyone yet. Finish the season as is. Then fix things.

  39. Frank Pillow Says:

What happened to the vertical passing game? Sure, I understand the OL is being held together by athletic tape at this point…but the buffoonery out there confounds even the biggest clowns on TV, like Collingsworth. Tom’s the GOAT, but he flat out sucked for 98% of the game. Don’t get me wrong, we lose w/o his 2% of not sucking. This whole thing needs to be blown apart. There’s no way Todd embraces an innovative O. None. He had one and decided to take us back to the late 90s, instead.

  40. 941bucsfan Says:

Brady is washed. Everyone knows it. You guys wanna just blame bowles. But Brady needs to thank all the YAC he got, cause even in 2 minute he still threw checkdowns

  41. Izod Says:

Bowles is an above average DC, and a below average HC. Leftwich is just terrible.

Brady has lost A LOT. Way too many throws just don’t get there on time or in the right place. Overall, he’s barely an average NFL QB at this point in his career.

  42. BOAT Says:

The Bucs fan base is the most ridiculous among pro sports. There are tons of Bucs fans that think Kyle Trask or Garner Minshew, or insert the name of any random backup quarterback in the NFL, are better than Brady, and they are actively all over social media calling for any backup in the league to replace Brady…….

Safe to say, the Bucs have the worst fan base in the history of pro team sports, and it’s not even remotely close either.

  43. Buccos Says:

It was nice not having the human turnstile DS out there. I would take Walton over him any day. No holding penalties except a bad call on Wirfs. Our Oline looked pretty solid to me and we actually had a run game. They should leave Walton in there. All he needs is reps

  44. Tucker Says:

Brady did not look good either he is injured or he just isnt as good. Really don’t care what anyone says something is up with him he can not throw deep. Leftwich is a terrible oc they haven’t figured anything out and they all seem like they barely meet each other 5 minutes ago does the offense even practice together? They struggled against the freaking Cardinals they won but they are still a bad team I’m not a bandwagon fan this has been my team since I was a child but this team is just not good.

  45. 1sparkybuc Says:

I can justify Trask throwing two, three, four, interceptions, with a couple lost fumbles thrown in for good measure. What I can’t justify is, Tom Brady doing it. Jameis Winston used to do this too, but at least he could find Mike Evans and score points now and again. I could watch every minute of every game, if I was watching Trask or Winston, and not be embarrassed. I know we have the HC, OC, and OL, to share the blame, but it is still humiliating to see Brady play like the only “football” he’s used to playing is what I call soccer. Brady makes Evans look like a “has been”, and I can’t stand that. Mike’s streak of thousand yard seasons is likely over. That aggravates me to no end, and don’t even try to tell me that Mike has forgot how to play the game.

  46. Oneilbuc Says:

Bonzai. Brady is washed up bro it’s time to let Brady bro he’s done you keep blaming the coaches and making excuses for Brady but you know and I know if this any other quarterback no body on here would be saying he played good. Brady is not injured he said out of his own mouth that his arm ain’t that strong anymore. His time has came and now it’s gone it’s time to move on bro.

  47. Kev@Inverness Says:

C2asante, it must suck to be a dumbazz race-baiter like yourself.

  48. Bojim Says:

Yep. Brady saved us again. Was pretty scary for a long while though.

  49. NEfan Says:

Ya washed up QB’s always light it up when it counts. Change the freaking offense to these players strengths. I want to puke it’s so obvious.

    ————————————-
Am I actually reading this? Cos it’s 100% true. Julio Jones was wide open (first half). Methusaleh 0 threw it right at his feet. Good thing no card DBs were around cos that was a pick6 and highlight reel stuff. M 0 threw picks. He threw bad passes. He’s 45 and too old to play. What’s his problem?
