Tedford Back To Working “Full-Time”

September 8th, 2014

Tedfordcoachinghard

Good news from One Buc Palace moments ago, Lovie Smith said offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford was back at work today “full-time” and fulfilling his duties.

And Lovie went on to say that the recent plan, Joe’s presuming the last 10 days or so, was to have Tedford ready to call plays and be the full-time offensive coordinator for Week 2 against the Rams.

This is great news. The mysterious Jeff Tedford offense should only be choreographed by the artist himself.

PR smoke….the G’Boyz knew ….when they gave away free tickets to season ticket holders yesterday..just how bad this team was…

  2. robert9 Says:

too bad it wasn’t the game plan, but the Shit*y QB play that did us in.

Wake me when MGM comes to the rescue. McCown sucks!!!

those mistakes he made wore worse than bad…and for a veteran, they were inexusable. It’s not like the game was on the line when ho floats one up….rather it was the turning point that set their defense on fire and kept our D on the field all day.

even worse when they showed him on the sideline…that was not a man with tiger blood, he was a beaten man, slumped over head in hands. he doesn’t have it. another qtr is all I would give him to right the ship and then yanbk him. Glennon may not be a veteran, but he holds his head high even when down and works his ass off and reads defenses and audibles better. MGM is growing!

  3. lightningbuc Says:

Well, scratch one more excuse off the list as to why McCown will suck next week.

Off topic. Ray Rice cut by Ravens for giving his wife a left hook in that elevator. Schiano must be proud.

  6. biff barker Says:

Schiano had his faults, but to associate him with a wife beater is just wrong.

  7. biff barker Says:

    Welcome back coach.

  8. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

You know, when McCown’s press conference first started yesterday, I did not like what I saw.

But as it progressed he said all the right things and took responsibility. How he responds this week will say a lot.

Keep in mind, he was not only short his regular OC, but he was also short his normal sideline QB Coach.

For that reason, he deserves another week.

Tedford got to see a lot of faults, and had time during the game to evaluate. I would not be surprised if he foxes many of the issues.

  9. Nic Says:

Good to hear, the offense was clearly inept without him. I buy it, Arroyo in his first ever game calling plays and I’m sure he had no idea he would be doing that until the end of the preseason, that’s such a tall order.

Make a statement against a tough Rams D line and all will be forgiven. Hopefully the team can rally around this. Maybe some jump balls to our “Dunkaneers”?

  10. Brandon Says:

Just in case the Buc fan geniuses didn’t know it, though I’m sure they don’t. A new offense takes 4-6 regular season games to start to click. Exhibit A, Jon Gruden 2002. They started slow, figured out how to play together and execute and won the Super Bowl. Exhibit B, Schiano 2012. The Bucs offense was pretty bad to start 2012 but then had a large stretch of games where the offense was dominant (until they got figured out). New offenses ALWAYS take time to be acclimated to.

As for the loss…not happy, disappointed for sure…but week 1 is not the week to make judgments about a team. The 2002 Bucs opened up with a home loss to the Saints… and won the Super Bowl. I remember the Pats getting whacked by the Bills (and Drew Bledsoe) something like 31-0 one year and then having a great season that I think ended with them winning the Super Bowl. Week 1 is pretty much meaningless in everything except the WIN column. Does anybody else remember Buc teams of the 80’s and 90’s getting off to fast starts only to absolutely suck the rest of the season?

Quit overreacting. The sky is not falling. If we’re still playing like this in week 4, 5, or 6 then, yes, the sky is falling. It’s one game. McCown had a handful of terrible plays and a bunch of good ones. He eliminates the bad mistakes and he leads us to victory.

  11. Newbucsfan!!! Says:

Again, the Bucs don’t run this tampa-2 business all the time. mostly on third and long, they do a lot of cover-3 & 1 and when they get it down all will be well. The seattle seahawks run a similar scheme and look at their D now. Lovie’s scheme has worked in Chicago superbowl, seattle (superbowl), and it will in Tampa. The Bucs D held that panthers team to 17 points and have just started playing it. And they still could have won that game!

  12. Buccfan37 Says:

Lovie is loyal and stubborn. McCown will get the start next game and I expect him to play better, actually the whole team to play better. It will have to get much worse at QB for Lovie to not back his guy.

  13. Andrew 1 Says:

That’s definatly good news. He’s got a lot of work to do.

  14. james west Says:

sergeant tedfords magical mystery tour. starring josh Mclown-the dumpster hamster dooogie martin – logan kneekins- and the rest of the no line offensive band- special guest appearences by Vincent no action Jackson-Austin not sure Jenkins also playing mike re establishment evens get your tickets now for this event. as a special bonus also on this card the one and only Gerald McCoy with his # 1 sack smash hit – I can get by with a lil help from my friends !!! penciled in but cannot confirm appearences by dead end Johnson and many many more . tail gaiting is encouraged but not expected – anyone overdosing on LSD(lovie smith debacle) please meet with g deckerhoff in north end zone during the event as it will not be used.

  15. Bucamania Says:

The ‘mysterious Tedford offense.’ Where is the up tempo, high flying Dunkaneers offense we were promised? Sure looked like the same old Bucs offense to me – uncreative, incompetent, overly cautious, plodding, and punchless.

  16. Bucnjim Says:

I’m guessing they were still running plays out of HIS Playbook right? Didn’t see that creative genius or so called speed in space we’ve been fed all off season. The only speed I saw all game came from the Panthers D.

  17. Trubucfan22 Says:

2012? Glennon never led a dominant offense. Silly MGM. If you all think glennon would be better then you would be in for a rude awakening if he did find the field. He guy is literally one of the worst back up qbs in the league, I couldn’t even bare to consider putting him in a category among starting qbs. If anyone should replace McCown I hope to hell that Kafka is the guy.

  18. nate Says:

Tedford fyi please fire your qb coach because if thats how mccown is taught he needs to be fired.. and tedford you mite want to think about retirement. Oline evaluation is terrible!

  19. Theodore Says:

“The mysterious Jeff Tedford offense”… wasn’t a mystery before, ain’t a mystery now. Lovieball is defense and an offense that doesn’t score unnecessary points. Sound stupid? Exactly.

  20. SeanyMac in SC Says:

This team was not prepared for the Stinking Panthers. In hind sight, I think they should have used the preseason to get the 1’s more practice together.

  21. David Says:

Wish we would have traded Wright, 4th rounder and Glennon to Pats for R. Mallett and Mankins.

  22. JT Says:

Maybe aftrr Atl beats us up on national tv and were 0-3 mccown will FINALLY be benched! I REALLY dont want our season to be over by october…AGAIN!

  23. ToesOnTheLine Says:

“If anyone should replace McCown I hope to hell that Kafka is the guy.”

    @ Trubucfan22

When I read your entire rant I thought damn if this guy is serious he’s pretty clueless about QB play. After reading that last sentence you proved to everyone that if you are serious you are clueless about QB play. Here’s to hoping that comment was a joke or that you’re on your 4th tall one at Hooters blooging while intoxicated

  24. Kevin#1 Says:

I’m not going to call for McCowns head just yet…..but he better throw the damn ball and let his receivers do what they were brought here to do. You don’t play conservative football with those types of weapons. YOU DON’T DO IT!!!!! And PLEASE someone teach Doug Martin how to use his vision. If you don’t see the hole us your instincts and make something happen. Instead he tries to get a piggie back ride from our o-line men. Not gonna work Dougie…..I’m on Doug as much as anyone is on McCown right now. They BOTH need to improve 10 fold next week.

  25. Goodolebucfan Says:

MGM will save us he ran the worst offense in the NFL last year what are you smoking. Not defending McCown but Glennon is no upgade.

  26. Kevin#1 Says:

Remember how bad our O-line looked week 1 preseason and it was a wakeup call. I have a feeling the Bucs underestimated the ability of the Panthers without Cam Newton. They will be facing a third string QB next week. If they lose we are F$#ked!

  27. ToesOnTheLine Says:

“Wish we would have traded Wright, 4th rounder and Glennon to Pats for R. Mallett and Mankins.”

    @ David

Mallet is and always will stink at the NFL level. That trade would have been known to the Patriots fans as the Golden Fleece…a term reserved for when Belichick goes well beyond fleecing Tampa and commits a full a$$ raping instead…smh.

  28. JT Says:

Can we PLEASE see if Glennon can do anything in this new sytem with new playmakers and no Schiano yelling at him. Mccown is just a waste of time and he cost us a win. Sure he may be more mobile but he holds on to the ball WAY to long so who gives a f if he’s more mobile. I’m begging PLEASE dont throw away with the back up, journeyman bust. PLEASE!!!

  29. Islandbucsfan Says:

Everyone who thinks Glennon is the answer is sadly mistaken. The dude can’t get out of his own way. With a less than par O-Line, he’d get killed. It would be better for him to hold the clipboard, learn what not to do, and be a team player. When we have an O-Line that can hold up, then bring him in.

  30. Incognito Says:

    Yeeee hhhaaaa

  31. chris Says:

Why do I feel like, whenever someone mentions Ted fords double secret offense and only using part of the playbook, that Tedford really is the Henry Winkler coach from the Waterboy. Maybe Jerry Reed stole his black note book during preseason, explains his MIA.

  32. Ray Rice Says:

I have a better chance or finding a new job next week than Tedford does winning with the formula I saw Sunday. Mccown looked more comfortable in Shotgun and when he was allowed to call his own plays in the uptempo offense. Carolina was gassed when he did it to them on both scoring drives. Hint! Hint! Teddy!…. You better let Mccown take the reigns Sunday with no restrictions. If you don’t you better stay out of elevators. Just see my video.

  33. sho nuff Says:

yay…maybe he will bring his magic offense…*sigh
