Cody Mauch Is Full-Go For Bucs

May 26th, 2026

The knee rehab is over.

The long road after Cody Mauch blew out his knee in September officially is in the past. That was the message from the Bucs’ fourth-year right guard today after a spring practice session at One Buc Palace.

Mauch participated fully and said he was fired up for today, even texting loved ones about his excitment.

Also, Mauch’s weight is up yet again, all by design to transform himself into a manbeast. He weighed 302 pounds at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine and bulked up to 319 before last season.

Joe loves how Mauch has 3-plus months before a real game. That’s a lifetime to build confidence on his knee and more continuity with his stud linemates.

Our second best lineman is in for a MONSTROUS Pro Bowl All Pro season!

    Go Cody!

    Love this guy!

  3. Truth be Told Says:

if this O-Line is not cursed by the injury bug this year-this Offense just might light it up!! And we have an OC that actually knows what he is doing. If that Putrid Pass Rush is a thing of the past-10 wins should be doable. Go BUCS!!

  4. dls5492 Says:

Those North Dakota farm boys are tough.

  5. SlyPirate Says:

Cody and Goedeke are a punishing duo.

50/50 Kancey and Bain make it to the regular season intact.

  6. Football 1 Says:

Definitely great for him and the team. Hopefully the offense can be a scoring machine because I don’t think this defense is going to keep good passing teams from scoring unless they acquire a better corner who can actually cover, unlike the corners we currently have on this roster. Yes Parrish aside, hopefully he picks up where he left off.

    Sly Pirate nailed it.

Mauch and Goedeke are a badass duo in the right side.

They move in unison. They are both psychos. And they are both extremely good at their jobs.

I really hope they can both stay healthy this year.

  9. Vanessa Anne Says:

    Excellent news!

Cody has steadily improved every year.

He’ll need a little bit of time to shake off the rust, but he’s got a few months to do that.

Ideally, the injury bug won’t bite the o-line like it did last year. Our 2024 o-line was a thing of beauty.

  10. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Isn’t it a contract year for Cody?

  11. Irishmist Says:

A certain Chipmunks song keeps playing in my head whenever I see that picture.

  12. buc4evr Says:

Thats the greatest picture ever of Mauch. I laugh every time I see it. The guy is an animal !

Third best… but that’s more about Luke being a fantastic player who should be in the ALL-PRO discussion already. Cody has to still prove he can play at that level – which is way above the pro bowl nonsense, but I think Cody can get there, and obviously hope he does.

Also getting Cody back, along with Ben being healthy, that’s going to make Barton look a lot better as well.

If the Bucs offensive line can just stay healthy, they will be one of the top offensive lines in football – and absolutely could end the year as the best offensive line in football.

  14. Kenton Smith Says:

    I agree100% with Rod Munch.

  15. Kenton Smith Says:

Scratch that last comment. Until Goedecke can keep the snap count in his overfilled head between the huddle and line of scrimmage he is not better than Mauch. Or Bredeson. And Barton is getting better every day.

You think Ben is better than Luke? You know we’re talking about the Bucs line, not Star Wars, right?

Ben is fine, an middling starter, which isn’t bad and you can’t have amazing guys all over the place since you can’t afford to keep them. But Luke is already a star player – and people don’t really get that only because Wirfs is playing at a first ballot HOF level, so Luke being a borderline ALL-PRO player doesn’t stand out the way it would for every other team in the NFL.

  17. Stpetematt Says:

Luke is really good but I still think Mauch is even better. And consistently getting better yet (outside of the lost injury time). He’s a great run blocker and great pass protector. I’d like to see everyone on the line working on their power to be in the top 10% of run blockers. I want to see our linemen knocking people FLAT this year in the run game! All are very good-great pass protectors statistically and with the eyeball test. Bredeson is a plus starter but not quite on the level of those guys…

  18. Stpetematt Says:

Losing our best run blocker for the year almost immediately last year was hugely bad. And you could see the difference right away and throughout the season. Mauch is excellent at causing gaping holes at the point of attack. Sucked not having him last year!

  19. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

We still have yet to legitimately replace Ali Marpet

    You need to relax lol

  21. Stpetematt Says:

In 2024, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers averaged a stellar 5.65 yards per carry (YPC) when running through the right guard gap (between Cody Mauch and Graham Barton), compared to 3.50 YPC when running through the left guard gap (between Ben Bredeson and Graham Barton) during the 2024 season. This massive difference highlights how much more dominant the Bucs were when attacking the right side of their interior offensive line. The Bucs also had 70.4% of their runs between the guards- the highest rate in the NFL in 2024.

  22. Stpetematt Says:

Think about that. Cody is so good every team knew we were running right behind him yet we still averaged 5.65 yards per carry there. Amazing.

I agree with that, but that’s also an incredibly high standard. Marpet was an ALL-PRO caliber player, and was the best offensive lineman on the team until probably Wirfs came along, and probably even then it wasn’t until Wirfs 2nd year that he surpassed Marpet (maybe not, it’s close though).

I think Cody has a chance to get to that level – but it’s a very high bar. If he does get there this season, the Bucs are going to be in a pickle salary wise having to play 3 guys top dollar, but then again, I’m sure they won’t mind if they’re 3 of the best offensive lineman in football.

Luke is already a top 5 RT in the NFL and tackle is a much more difficult position to play. I think if Cody doesn’t miss most of last year, perhaps he gets to that level, but it’s a bit to early to give him that crown at this point. Again, that’s not in any way a knock on Cody, I do think he’s going to be a near ALL PRO caliber player, but he hasn’t got there quite yet – and Luke has.

But I’d love to see Cody surpass Luke, if that happens, there’s pretty much no way the Bucs don’t have the best offensive line in football unless injuries elsewhere tank things again and the Bucs are forced to start scrubs like Sucke.

  25. Pickgrin Says:

Big year coming for Cody I bet.

Bucs are going to have a tough decision coming up if both Cody and Barton have good years in 2026…..

You can’t pay both of them market value when you are already paying $50M to your 2 tackles….

  26. Beeej Says:

We could conceivably have 3 pro bowl linemen (admittedly Luke would be a backup)

  27. garro Says:

That dude is a football player! Yeah baby!

    Go Bucs!
