“Straight Dawg, Man”

April 25th, 2026

New Bucs rookie cornerback Keionte Scott has a message for Tampa Bay fans.

Scott did a virtual interview with assembled media at One Buc Palace this afternoon and was asked what he wants to tell fans what they’re getting in their fourth-round pick out of the University of Miami.

“A straight dawg, man, a player that doesn’t need anything but an opportunity,” Scott replied. “And at the end of the day, that’s what I have now, and I’m looking forward to talking full advantage of it.”

Scott is a well-spoken dude who seems very appreciative of his rise from the junior college ranks to Auburn and then Miami. He told the Nightcap podcast that he’s grateful for little things like good gloves and cleats, among other basics.

Heck, Scott even overtly thanked the media after his interview today and talked about his desire to work with them.

Joe believes Scott when he says he’s a “dawg” (more on that later), but Joe’s more interested to see whether Scott can cover.

Fits right in with the RINSE AND REPEAT DEFENSE

  4. Fanofdabucs Says:

This team was lacking Dawgs last year.

They added a bunch this off-season.

Keionte Scott has a 87.1 coverage grade

He can cover, play the run, rush the passer
    He’s an excellent CB

  10. Simeon4HOF Says:

Do love the fact that every pick on D is a straight Dawg. As well as our FA additions.
Good work on Defense JL, could’ve been excellent if ya just practice Rd 2 some more

  11. Simeon4HOF Says:

Scott is good. So is Trotter.
We have a pass rush! Time for our CBs #21 and #27 to man up

He’s going to be fun to watch over the next several years

  13. Simeon4HOF Says:

We just dont have the next Brooks/David on our roster yet but we have time for that.
Really like this draft. Holes filled

  14. BassCrazy Says:

  15. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

This might be one of the most interesting rookie camps. Just pray these kids stay healthy, outside of Schrauth; every single one of these kids can earn a way into contributing week 1. Love or hate Bowles, he’ll put the rookies in the lineup if they’re performing. Most recently Parrish, and before him it was Tykee.

  16. Mobucs Says:

I’m thinking punt/kick returner: decent size, great speed, returns INTs for TDs.

  17. Fred McNeil Says:

I’ve seen him described as a linebacker in a corner’s body. Great speed too. Gotta see if he’s injury prone.

  18. Fred McNeil Says:

I don’t like Tykee Smith as much as everybody else seems to. He’s not nearly as aggressive in pursuit as Winfield.

Let’s goo. The defense has bin lacking physical, violent , thumpers and that’s what this offseason has bin about. If the defense can get to average and the offense gets back to its form like the 1st half of the season last year Bucs will be in great shape. Take the QBs lunch money and knock the teeth out if everyone who gets the ball is the kinda defense the Bucs need. Like the late 90s early 2000s Bucs.
