Think it could turn out to be a good draft. Didnāt think we needed a WR or a TE, would have liked to have seen more heavy defense players. Also thought Trotter was a real reach so I gave the Bucs a B.
I went B+. All the most pressing needs were addressed. Round one was a potentially amazing pick. Iām not as high on the Round 2 pick, only because I think Allen could have competed for a starting job this year (which to me is what round 1 and round 2 picks should be able to do), but maybe Trotter will too? A need was at least addressed with a player the Bucs FO thinks is a better prospect than what myself and most others thoughtā¦all good. Round 3 seemed like a luxury pick, but we probably could use a big body receiver. Rounds 4-5 were all solid value picks with upside. Round 6 felt like a reach considering the trade up, but at that part of the draft why not throw a dart at a need? I would have said A- if not for what I felt was a reach at ILB, as well as going for a small school WR when the OG from Oregon was still on the board. Iāll give Licht the benefit of the doubt on OL and WR scouting.
Just not nearly as much of a fan of Trotter as I was the other three linebackers that were taken around him. Even Pierre. Linebackers and coverage has been a severe Achilles heel for this team for the last few years. Then trading up 10 spots for that tight end, pretty sure that wasn’t necessary. That 7th round pick would be nice. Now to the undrafted free agent signjngs. Licht usually pulls off a few studs there. He routinely finds guys that were overlooked and end up making an impact.
I wouldve picked wr 4th or 5th….and the trade up of our 7th and 6th for who might have been there 7th….or maybe im wrong and he’s gonna be a taysom hill type player, and if so, then an A
And the biggest draft is to the wood chiiper for Melvin always putting us down and talking ish…freeze his body first tho!
We couldāve had nuismeyer but instead got a practice squad tight end, now the chiefs drafted Garrett, oh well what do I know. I guess licht knows more than the chiefs gm⦠but I doubt that. Iām not really a fan of this class but itās what to be expected from licht. SMH
The Trotter pick ruined this draft for me. They shouldāve traded up for Jacob Rodriguez or taken CJ Allen at 46. If they liked Trotter so much they shouldāve traded down and taken him later. He probably would have still been there with their 3rd pick and they couldāve grabbed a stud DL or corner with the 46th pick. I guarantee that 2 years from now JRod and CJ are in the Pro Bowl and Trotter will be a special teams player at best.
I can’t wait for everyone to watch the careers of Trotter and Allen. Allen misses way too many tackles and is very questionable in coverage. There’s a reason he dropped like he did. Trotter has the speed and is a tackling machine.
I give us a F as in f$&:@d with todd and jason and the glazer boys ruining thangs im the old man was still alive we would have a better chance rip malcom glazer im glad i met him on a flight from atlanta to Baton Rouge during mother natures gift to the world hurricane katrina a real beautiful game and if you dont like it f u to
Hated losing Lavante David, but there was no chance we’d immediately get a replacement of the same quality. We have some good players to buy us time to find the right guy.
I actually really like the Hurst pick but there is a lot of projection there and 3rd round is fairly rich.
Trotter could be better than the other guys but seems like a bit of a reach at the moment or just doesnāt help the coverage woes.
I like the Edge DT and G. TE doesnāt move the needle but hopefully a good special teams guy.
Hard to say I like the Hurst pick and the complain but I thought we could have double dipped on D at edge or ILB or a DB instead of the trade up for a TE. Offense just wasnāt a priority for this draft, needed to throw as much at the wall on D as possible. So ultimately 3 out of 7 picks to the O brought me to a B.
Some really great picks, a couple potentially good, and then they draft a kid that would have gone undrafted, for a position that is already loaded with the exact same type of players and, give away the seventh in the process. Draft picks are valuable regardless of the round, and they lost two of them.
B-
A on addressing the positions of need.. Not sure how these guys will pan out over the next few years nobody knows and things happen. I’m excited about reading the practice articles about all the new additions.
I did not like the Trotter pick, not with Hill, Allen and Louis all on the board still. Again, it’s more about the fit than the player, I think Trotter will be a good run stuffing RB, but we’ll see about pass coverage. The thing everyone complained so much about with White, Britt and Dennis was coverage, and they drafted a guy who’s scouting report and tape say he can’t cover. But hopefully I’m wrong – and he is young and still developing. However Allen was a day 1 starter, to skip on him, I don’t get it.
Also, much much less of a big deal, but I didn’t like the last pick and really didn’t like to trade up to get Sharp – just hard to believe he was that highly rated on any one elses draft charts. But you’re talking 6th and 7th round picks who rarely do anything in the NFL, so I’m not going to get upset at it.
The rest of the picks I liked, most of them really liked.
If anyone is shocked by the quality of this Bucās draft, itās me. Yes, I still believe this is JL & TB prove it year. JL has done very well so far. TB⦠weāll see. He now has players that bring it and he has depth, quality depth. No more Feeney. So, weāll see.
B+, Iām happy they got the Miami guys, and Iām cautiously optimistic about Hurst & Trotter. Trotter looks to have at least decent speed on tape. Will he be a liability in coverage? Itās still Todd Bowles defense, but Iām hopeful the win rate will be higher for the pass rushers, or at least the big uglies up front will get their hands up.
ESPN mentioned that no Edge with short arms like Bains has hit 10 sacks since 2003. Is this Licht trying to be the smartest guy in the room again? Time will tell. Iām giving it a āCā for that alone since we are already pretty sure the 2nd rounder may not pan out.
So people are giving As and Bs to a team with the worst pass defense in the NFL (+/- 4 teams) because they drafted a bunch of defensive guys who canāt cover, a junior college wide receiver who canāt catch, and some Notre Dame scrubbery.
Grover, justify your grade. Be a man for once. You add zero to the conversation. As in nothing. And you’re a terrible troll. Take lessons. For what it’s worth, I gave them a b+. Obviously no one knows what the grade is for now, but just on first blush. I don’t hate the trotter pic as much as most seem to. Anzalone is going to be our main coverage linebacker. So I think they picked trotter because they believe he’s a solid run guy who can grow into the position since he’s so young.
āSo people are giving As and Bs to a team with the worst pass defense in the NFL (+/- 4 teams) because they drafted a bunch of defensive guys who canāt cover, a junior college wide receiver who canāt catch, and some Notre Dame scrubberyā
When you canāt talk football, and your identity as a fan is āBowles sucksā lol
3.28: our first pick should be a player and should definitely improve the pass rush, which improves the secondary. I explained the trotter selection to my previous post. He’s not the guy. They have earmarked for coverage initially and they expect him to improve. Obviously. Wide receiver is a big bodied x with great speed who Steve Smith thinks resembles Larry Fitzgerald. I expect he can evaluate receivers better than you or I. The rest of the picks were good. Value pics for their positions. I didn’t agree with the trade-up in the end, but that’s my only real beef.
There are a lot of question marks in this draft forsure.
I donāt feel as good about it as I have the last couple of drafts.
Iām not overly worried about Bain and the short arms. Too much power and tenacity to be denied consistently. If Yaya and Kancey stay healthy, thereās too much pass rush juice there now.
I share the same concerns about the run stopping ILB and the nickle CB. We needed pass coverage in the middle and someone to challenge for snaps on the outside but I guess this pushes Parrish outside(?).
Aside from Bain, I just donāt necessarily see instant impact anywhere else.
I don’t get the comments about Scott not being able to cover. I read a decent amount about the guy going into the draft and didn’t see that anywhere. I did read he wasn’t as good in man, that he was better in zone, but I didn’t see anyone saying he had a hard time covering guys. Generally he was seen as more of a late 2nd rounder or early 3 rounder. To get him in the 4th round, that was a great pick, no idea why people would be down on that.
I love that we drafted Bain and Scott. They are ballers from an elite college football team and a university that historically produces great NFL players.
Trotter I absolutely hate. He can stop the run, but he canāt cover Bijan Robinson or Kyle Pitts in the flats. Those two weapons for the Falcons killed us and Trotter does nothing to solve that problem.
Allen and Hill were on the Board still when we picked Trotter, two elite SEC linebackers who are plug and play and who can cover TEās and Backs as well as stop the run, and we went with a guy who Nick Saban questions his ability to cover. Baffling.
Rod, I agree on Scott, seems to me a lot of pundits would have been okay grabbing him when Hurst was taken so I do not understand the hate either as it seems like a good day 3 pick. I give the draft a B-, but what do I know, the real grades will probably come out in 3 years and by then it is likely there will be a new regime.I hope Bowles does not mess Bain up and Trotter surprises everyone.
And please donāt tell me about Baldingerās assessment of Trotter. Nick Saban, one of the greatest minds in the history of the sport of football and a defensive mastermind questions Trotters range and ability to cover in sub packages against offenseās 2×2, 3×1 and Empty Sets.

Not an expert drafting/scouting, trust the organiation in place, they have done well in the past. I can only judge the positions they drafted. Happy with all their choices. A-
The only reasonable vote is Not Sure, like in Idiocracy. Is this a Super Bowl team in 3 to 5 years? If so, it’s an A+ draft, likely. Nobody knows how these picks work out.

Well let’s see how it works out. Young defense gives head coach an excuse for at least 2 yrs but it will definitely be interesting.
