Heart and passion.
The Bucs this year wanted to bring in physical, violent dudes. And it seems they have achieved that goal.
But also, the Bucs wanted to bring in guys with fire and energy. In this clip from “305 Sports” of new Bucs nickel corner Keionte Scott, selected in the fourth round today, this is the personality of a player the Bucs crave for a defense that last year was kitten-soft and quit on Bucs coach Todd Bowles.
This Scott is nothing but energy, an Energizer Bunny bouncing all over the place, firing up his teammates and when getting right into the grill of players Scott may think aren’t giving 110 percent.
Joe knows Baker Mayfield and Lavonte David and even Bowles tried, almost in a last resort, to yell at teammates to snap out of it last season. To no avail.
If this happened with Scott on the team, he might just throw down on a corner who loafed. Joe has a hunch Scott will quickly become a Bucs fan favorite.
Joe thinks it is fair to say Scott can be described in one word: “Passion.”
That sort of energy and enthusiasm and physical play is contagious. It is what the Bucs really need.

I have want Todd fired but in his defense, he has not had the horses defensively. Safe to say JL went and got him some dogs. Excited to see Todd make me eat crow hopefully or get canned.

Sorry guys the truth hurts, more time than not, the team takes on the personality of the HC, Bowles is soft and looks checked out, this team gets Tomlin, stud QB (not Baker) next year, and DC Schwartz, we will get our next SB within 3 years

I thought the defense abd special teams even more quit after the break too. Hassan never even started. Injuries hit and whatever fire was left went to ______ ( mad lib fans can have some fun here).

The kids highlights ?
Definitely seems to bring passion, physicality, smarts and SPEED to our defensive backfield.
I’m still a little concerned about our outside corners. Morrison could make a big jump….. Zion could still do the same BUT we’ll have to wait and see.
We now have 2 very good nickels but I’m not sure either one is a great candidate to kick outside. Will have to trust the people who really matter = JL and the coaches – to know more than us “fans” know.
Fortunately our front 7 has seen an influx of talent so maybe the DBs won’t be left hanging cause we’re getting no pressure on the QB.

Defensive tackles playing against us last season quickly noticed that there really wasn’t much difference between having nobody lined up across from them or Dan Feeney and Michael Jordan (not that one). That caused our offense to crater and our defense exhaustion and malaise. We seem to have addressed the situation NICELY! Now let’s see how the team looks *this* year. I think we can safely expect a lot of progress.

Yea because all three of those things are going to happen. Bucs get Tomlin, there is a Stud QB next year and somehow Tomlin wants Schwartz.

And agreed 100% how ludicrous it is. Tomlin is not a better coach than Bowles nor is he the least bit exciting. Now if McVay wanted to come here I’d accept the change no problem, but can’t think of anyone else I’d even want over Bowles. And we are certainly not getting rid of Baker or Licht anytime soon.

I think the owners are sending a message to the fans that the criticisms were heard and that Bowles will complete his contract at which point they can hold open competition for a new head coach unless Zac proves to be the man for the job.
The big question for me is this; Will they extend Baker now or wait ? I see a lot of different scenarios that I don’t like here. I think an extension is in the best interests of both parties.

Love the passion here. Sal, to answer your question, as much as I’d like Baker to have an extension, I don’t think it’ll happen. If Bowles is fired, and we have a top pick, it’s better to have the new guy get who he wants in regards to draft and free agency, well more attractive at least.

All the best draft picks in the world won’t make a solid defense of the scheme is wrong and the coaching is subpar.
Draft days always bring some enthusiasm. Now we gotta see if they can play well alongside the vets.
Haven’t been persuaded the team took the correct decision, meaning release Bowles, and bring in an entirely new staff with a competent group of assistants that can get more out of players.
If they are looking for a franchise QB, ’27 is supposed to be a good year for that position.
Bowles has past his due date. Arians got a lot out of the group he coached; he coached hard and he was pragmatic. He took good decisions managing games and made decent adjustments at halftime. (Yes, he had Brady too for a couple years)

With the additions of Anzalone, Trotter and shining, new nickel Scott in the slot the Bucs revamped their network infrastructure. Whether it’s going to be a state of the art Category 8 fiber network delivering power and information to a network of powerful, futuristic machines or more like watching a pack of prairie dogs at the zoo on Sunday afternoons remains to be seen.
Either way it will be more watchable than last year.

I don’t disagree. However given the obvious change in thinking at 1 Buc I get the sense that the owners are wanting to save face AND keep Bowles. It’s possible that the owners are waking up to reality. After the TB12/BA/BL debacle and the downfall of Bowles and the clear negative attitude across the team that had been building for some time that they are asserting themselves. They must recognize that this team is perilously close to collapse. They have been through numerous coaching changes, quarterbacks and a failed #1 pick that haven’t worked out well. For Bowles to save face there has to be a subtle withdrawal from his total control over the defense. I don’t know how they will pull it off but I think more changes (at least I hope) to the coaching staff will come. When Bowles first became head coach and was asked about his DC responsibilities he said that he already had co-coordinators but he would still call plays. Look for similar BS again except someone else will run the show behind the scene.

Who knows? With someone actually coaching the players in an effective legitimate manner and someone whispering in Bowles ear when to call a time-out or not and when to kick or punt or not and when to be aggressive or not he might turn out to be a very good head coach. That is of course his play calling improves.

I just refuse to buy the narrative that Bowles didn’t have any horses last season.
If that was the main worry, they should have drafted Campbell over Egbuka.
Instead… Licht gave him Reddick, Anthony Walker, a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th round pick. That’s a solid amount of resources to the D.
Now a bunch of that didnt pan out and Kancey was hurt once again but don’t say Todd wasn’t helped. He was playing Hayes and Funderburk in the secondary the year before. Got more… did the same. Lifeless.

K. Scott and R. Bain were always the two guys on that Defense I hoped the Bucs could get. We got them!!! Im So Stoked. I liked the Trotter, he can contribute. I like the DT from Clemson as well. Let’s see how Hurst pans out, maybe he is developmental for a year. We have Egbuka, McMillain, Godwin. i’d love to see Culp utilized more as a receiver.

Are we giving Todd another pass if Kancey gets hurt again and the team is roasted over the middle because Trotter and Rozeboom can’t keep up with assignments?
I think at that point, Licht and Bowles will have proven, they don’t know how to find or develop or maximize any talent on D. I don’t think that’s 100% true of Licht but it is of Todd.

They’re both bad. Licht has been posing as a GM forever. BA was a Hail Mary, who executed another Hail Mary with Brady.
From what I can tell, Bud Licht has really only drafted three excellent players and two of them were can’t miss.
There are many reasons to dislike Bowles. I was done with him when he handcuffed the GOAT in that game on Cleveland.

i really hope lakeland is right…

then we crushed it on the first 3 picks…and the o-lineman out of notre dame…
but lakeland sometimes talks out of his swampy azz, so who knows…he’s been pumping up trotter on here for 2 days now…i’m hoping lakeland is on point, and trotter doesn’t wind up in the lake with him
