Defense Is On A Roll

January 16th, 2024

Two tackles for loss Monday.

Joe doesn’t know what to make of this but it can’t be bad.

Granted, there is a huge difference between the Stinking Panthers and the Eagles. But in the last two games the Bucs have allowed a grand total of nine points.

In the last two games, Bucs opponents have scored one touchdown. But it goes back a bit farther than that when the defense began to rise. Only twice in the past seven games have the Bucs allowed more than 20 points. In Joe’s mind, if you hold your opponent to 20, you are in the game and should have a chance to win.

Joe already mentioned how the Bucs did not allow one third or fourth down to be converted Monday night. In a playoff game. That’s sick.

Joe doesn’t know what has gotten into this defense but what a perfect time to get hot.

We must save the franchise tag for Winfield Jr.
Every damn team needing a safety will bargain for his services.

  2. Brandon Says:

Then whole defensive front was playing hard and aggressive. The platoon of White and Britt was working perfectly too. I love me some Zion McCollum. The dude can play. His two biggest mistakes (offsides on special team) directly led to four points being taken off the board for the Eagles.

  3. SB Says:

The man is a BEAST!] KEEP him!

  4. Hammerhead Says:

Will take Baker over Shawn King in heartbeat.

  5. SB Says:

    Luke WHO?

  6. Derobbins Says:

    Skywalker

  7. Truth Teller Says:

What other starting QB in the league you would take Baker over? Who? BucsBeast facts about Winfield! Lol, 9 points against Carolina. Don’t get caught up and tricked by Baker. Championship is what matters and he can and won’t ever win one.

  8. SB Says:

i MEAN They were picked the Same year! Luke Who?

  9. HC Grover Says:

O got points on first 4 possesions.

    @SB – preach.

LVD always got overshadowed despite having as good, if not better stats than all his peers. And the longevity to still play at this high of a level!

Game Balls: Kancey, Dean, and LVD

  12. David Says:

We can name the rookies or LVD or Davis and Dean and Winfield and even the steadily improving Zion but it all starts with Todd Bowles. He is a fantastic DC and has been calling great games as the DC.
I will continue to say it, imagine what he can do with a consistent 4 man pass rush!

I’m enjoying this postseason, but I almost cannot wait to see what Kancey and Yaya bring next year!

  13. Jeremy Goins Says:

Bowles is one hell of a DC, you can’t argue with that
He just keeps bringing pressure, that’s great when you have the lead. They were throwing last night and I was so happy to see that. There was still a few runs up the gut which went nowhere but that was not the OC’s go to move. Very happy for BUCS. I love ol black n blue games like the one next week. Go BUCS!!!!!! All you naysayers can please STFU

  14. BucU Says:

I’m in a state of euphoria today!! We actually made some noise last night.
Suddenly everybody in the national media is a Bucs fan today. HAHA!

  15. BillyBucco Says:

Most proud of the fans showing up and getting LIVE.
They should feel rewarded today for going too.
Detroit got their win, now let’s crush their hopes and dreams next.
Im sure they are thinking we already beat them once.
I am more concerned with their defense, because there are not as many injuries for Detroit as the Eagles. Branch is an ascending young safety.
I think attacking their LBs will pay off, so it was great to see Otton so involved.
Still can’t believe how good we looked passing the ball.

How big was Yaya and Kancey? Those guys were disruptive the whole damn game. When you ask what will be the difference between the first time we played the Lions to now? Well when we first play the Lions, we had just gotten Kancey back and both him and Yaya had not been established as starters… well, they are now. Combine that with a more mature Oline and offensive playing scheme, I think we’re going to punch Detriot right in the F-ing mouth… win or lose, I think we stay with them.

After giving up that long bomb I thought the bad secondary was about to rear its ugly head.

Pleasantly surprised it wasn’t the beginning of the end and the defense stood tall

  18. 1#bucsfan Says:

If the defense keeps this up then we should expect to be SB bound. Defense wins championships. 2002 an 2020 are perfect examples. Keep it up defense

Very proud of my team. Stayed up with headphones on listening to Gene D and Dave M and mentally cheering. Someone bopped Canales on his head cos he called a competent game. Bowles is doing pretty good in his first year as the actual HC. Of course, LVD will always be in my pantheon of Buc favorites. Motown better get ready cos it’s going to be a dawg fight.

That is a truly amazing thing in the playoffs Joe. I caught that while looking at something else earlier today. The other thing was the sack total for the Bucs.

We only got three but it sure seemed like we had more pressure on Hurts than that. We had him looking like a rookie QB starting his first game at times Monday. 8 hurries seems low to me too.

    Go Bucs!
