Eagles Didn’t Convert On Third Or Fourth Downs

January 16th, 2024

Beasting!

Joe has never seen a stat line like this, certainly not in the playoffs.

It speaks to how hungry and prepared the Bucs defense was tonight.

The Eagles were 0-for-9 on third down attempts, and they failed on both of their fourth-down tries.

Think about that for a minute. It’s stunning, stunning success by the Bucs defense.

Joe loves how now the Bucs defense is steaming with confidence and so is the offense after racking up 32 points and 426 yards in today’s beat down of the Eagles.

Throw in a sizzling hot kicker, and the Bucs look more than ready for Round 2 of the playoffs Sunday in Detroit. A full head of confidence as an underdog is how upsets happen in the postseason.

Joe is just so damn proud of that lockdown defense, including Vita Vea and Greg Gaines blowing up the Eagles’ famous tush push to stop a two-point conversion.

Don’t forget Britt trying to rip of hurts head! They came to play! That’s such a crazy stat for the playoffs. It would be interesting to know how often that has happened!

Jason gonna bring up Vea this week on his pod cast about blowing him up multiple times tonight

  2. Jack Clark Says:

Our defense was fast and aggressive because Todd Bowles didn’t run that weak as soft zone cover 2 defense. JTS needs to be CUT immediately btw. Go Bucs!

Does anyone else wonder what Cam Jordan is doing tonight? Next weekend? Bahahahaha

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Have we ever kept a team from converting any 3rd/4th downs?

  5. Since76 Says:

This defense is under rated. They are the reason the bucks made the playoffs. Period.

    It’s incredible.

The only “conversion” they got was that pass interference call on a 3rd down.

    That’s it.

Amazing. Eagles not even close to the same team without AJ Brown

  7. Joseph C Simmons Says:

I’m happy and proud of the Bucs, but I’m not sure the Bucs played all that well, as opposed to the Eagles absolutely crapping the bed. They played horribly.

Bucs came very close to hosting the Rams next weekend. Detroit had all they could handle with LA and could have easily lost if LA scored on that last possession instead of taking a penalty to put them out of FG range and then saw a no call against Detroit on Nacua on that last 3rd and 14 which could have easily been first down for LA if Nacua caught the ball or a flag was thrown….. So bring on the Lions, the Bucs are playing with house money, let it ride! Go Bucs, awesome win!

I agree Joseph, we took advantage of all the injuries they had but we left a lot of points on the field. we shoulda scored more but we can move past it and look on to the next game. we have much to clean up on but we can do it

  10. Buccos Says:

The Eagles had nowhere near the energy that the Bucs played with. And the crowd definitely the 12th man tonight

Bucs coaches impressed last night, including not so clueless Todd Bowles. Well done, boys. That’ was fun! The fans deserved that.

Go bus against the lions this week we got this.

I just want to see them keep up this energy and momentum. As a Bucs fan from their beginning, I have unfortunately seen all this tank out the following week too many times.
But I do have hope. Go Bucs.
