Rams Couldn’t Handle Vita Vea

November 6th, 2022

Boy, when the Bucs needed play from certain guys, dang if they didn’t come through tonight. Big time.

With Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett out for the season, Joe wasn’t sure if the Bucs could handle Matt Stafford. From where would the pass rush come?

Joe has to give former NFL suit Michael Lombardi credit. He called this. (Wait a minute, Joe went there, too.) Lombardi said on VSiN last week that the interior of the Rams offensive line was terrible and that Vita Vea would eat the Rams alive.

He sure as hell did.

Vea had two sacks (Joe thought he had three, but the official gamebook says otherwise). Vea also had two tackles for loss and three quarterback hits.

That’s a defensive tackle, folks. That’s Warren Sapp-like play.

Maybe it was because he didn’t want to get shown up by Aaron Donald. Maybe Vea knew he had to pick up the slack from the Bucs losing Shaq.

Either way, Vea was downright beastly tonight. And Joe loved it!

Thought the defense played really good. They all showed up

  2. Yucs2Bucs Says:

Giving credit to Vea, but the D played against the worst offensive team in the league ? Let’s get real and the cracks in this team are extremely deep and hope it’s salvageable, but next week is a tough matchup

  3. T REX Says:

Finally…he was awful to start the season

Need him badly to play well and lots of snaps

  4. Doc Says:

Did I miss something or did the Buc,s just win the superbowl.

  5. DoooshLaRue Says:

Hey now, how about some props for the other side of our line?

Durable Dependable Donnie…… we couldn’t have done it without you.

  6. LVMYBUCS Says:

One bad team beats another and now we think things have changed. We have a head coach and OC problem plane and simple.

  7. Leighroy Says:

    Doc, you’re a wet blanket aren’t you?

VV showed up. The defence played well except for 2 bad deep plays given up to Kupp. Devin White still celebrated 2 stops like he won a scratch off lottery ticket though. Is he just trying to hype himself up, or does he think this is the Louisiana state rodeo?

  8. geno711 Says:

Feels good to win again. Ugly in a lot of ways yes.

Where are all the people that said there was no way we could win against the Rams

  9. rigged Says:

    Please, twitter search NFL rigged

    or Youtube NFL rigged

Dwight Smith Superbowl MVP even stated the only thing that matters is who “They” want to win

Goodell himself has compared his league to the WWE.

Its gotten worse since those interviews.

    NFL is rigged.

  10. Your Mom Says:

Yeah he played inspired and was inspiring.

  11. D-Rok Says:

I was pleasantly surprised by the effort, and the results, Vea gave tonight. Keep it up, please!!!!

  12. D-Rok Says:

So, maybe this team isn’t totally dead?

  13. Thisisouryear!! Says:

I think it helped having Hicks back. Avery played great and I was so glad to white play well. As always LD and JD played great. It was nice to have CD and SMB back. This defense is very good if healthy. That’s just a big IF.

  14. Yucs2Bucs Says:

@rigged Dwight my boy and fixed my cars couple years back and he would always say the NFL is rigged and fixed !! I believe him

  15. Roc Says:

    Thank you Vita

    Vita was awesome today

  16. Frank Pillow Says:

Vita has been a giant turd for most of the season. It was refreshing to see him be a factor. Having Hicks back helped the push too.

  17. Brandon Says:

Rams interior line was poor. Nacho blew them up also to record the third sack by a DT, Denard Avery had the other sack. The Rams couldn’t block anyone on the interior.

  18. Buddha Says:

Hicks really helps the line. We have missed him tremendously.

  19. Gbobucsfan Says:

His expression on the GW TD said it all !!!

  20. SlyPirate Says:

    LOGAN HALL?!!!

He’s not on the injury report. He played 0 snaps today. What’s up?

  21. Bucs96NYC Says:

FYI Vita Vea now has like 6.5 sacks on the season. That’s getting it DONE!

  22. steele Says:

FINALLY, Vea. Yes, having someone else with him—Hicks, JPP, anyone—is critical. NACHO, same. SlyP, Hall did play. Not sure how many snaps.

The key now is keeping Hicks on the field, Vea maintaining and not backsliding, and let’s have more Nacho.

  23. Rod Munch Says:

Now imagine if he played more than half the game.

  24. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Munch

    Absolutely.

  25. firethecannons Says:

Praise be to the defense for not folding and allowing a rams win–enough of that!

  26. DoooshLaRue Says:

I saw Logan Hall in the game, don’t know about the 0 snaps you’re referring to Sly.

  27. Eckwood Says:

Now that was a great game by Vea and it was just good ole great effort !!

  28. unbelievable Says:

Outside of one busted okay, the defense played their arse off. Even with the offense going 3 and out over and over.

    Major props to them.

Still sick of seeing Devin White run his mouth early abs then disappear late.

  29. Buczilla Says:

Now that was the Vita that I have grown to love! He kicked some serious butt tonight and I am proud ass hell of this dude.

  30. unbelievable Says:

    *one busted play

*run his mouth early and then disappear late

    Dang iPhone

  31. Rod Munch Says:

I want him playing more. If he was in better shape, he’d play more downs, and have even better stats.

  32. Bojim Says:

Vea had a great game. Play him more. Right now I don’t care about the offense or defense. I’m just really happy right now. Actually, we all should be.

  33. Oneilbuc Says:

Happy for Vea he gets a lot of criticism from a lot of people but I believe he leads the team in sacks. I hope Sapp can give him some credit for the way he’s been playing.

  34. Coburn Says:

Great game by vea. Two others on d that had pretty good games were David (wished he caught the int) and Davis. Both looked pretty solid even if no huge splash plays

  35. Coburn Says:

Oh and a huge play by nacho.. came up big to stop that drive

Vea had a great game. Play him more.

    ———–

You think the coaches want him standing on the sideline? LOL! He’s too out of shape to play more downs, that’s the issue. If he dropped 40lbs, he could be more than a part time player.

  37. Rod Munch Says:

Oneilbuc – Sapp has said since day 1, the issue with Vita is that he’s too heavy, that’s why he’s not playing full time and it’s why he gets injured so much. Sapp never said he stinks as a player, just that he needs to adjust to play in Florida. So far, Sapp has been right. Vita is often injured and is mostly a 2-down player.

  38. LakelandSteve Says:

Thought Vea should have been credited with 3 sacks also. On one pass play, Stafford went down behind the line and Vea looked like the first one there as he kind of fell on top of Stafford.

  39. Delusional Intelligence Says:

Hmmm…. So this season will more than likely be a flashback to the days when a DT led the the Bucs in sacks?

  40. Football owl Says:

I think what the bucs gained in this is the feeling of well fought game win. You can see it..the way they held each other. A great boost in moral. Get ready..the fire has been lit! Go Bucs!!!

  41. orlbucfan Says:

Hicks, JTS, and others psyched VV up and he played his best game. He is awfully heavy though. The whole D, injured and all, was on a mission along with the ST. So, Kupp got a long catch. Whoopee. Whoever said he was a cupcake? I’ll take the D’s performance cos they came ready to play.

  42. reach87 Says:

Not even the greatest DT in the game played the whole game last night. You want him light and weak or big and nasty? Its not a Bucs thing…its a league thing. Go Bucs!
