Dee Delaney’s Day

October 23rd, 2022

Dee Delaney

With the Bucs down three cornerbacks today, this Bucs-Panthers game already has a 2021 scent.

You remember last year, that’s when Bucs fans endured a “nightmare” (general manager’s Jason Licht’s word) when currently-out-of-football backup cornerbacks Pierre Desir, Richard Sherman and Ross Cockrell played over 800 snaps on defense.

The Tampa Bay secondary had been decimated by injuries and it’s happening again. Look for Dee Delaney to start today in place of No. 1 cornerback Carlton Davis, while Sean Murphy-Bunting (quad) and Logan Ryan (foot) also are out.

Delaney, 27, was on the team last year and played 200-plus snaps on defense, but he was more solid than his fellow backup corners. That’s why he’s here this season, and he had a decent game last week at Pittsburgh when he played nearly the entire game, notching five tackles and one tackle for loss.

Joe has a lot of faith in Licht, so Joe expects Delaney to look like a guy today who won’t be out of the NFL in handful of months. However, Joe expects to test Delaney early and often, so he represents a major key to the Bucs locking down a critical “W.”

@goatfarmer; it’s still called dumpster fire.
We’re not quite a dumpster fire yet … Unless we dork this game too. We just might. It pains me to admit it. I love my Bucs.

So Tom, stop dreaming about playing stink finger with Gisele. Luke, look down. See those two big smelly things on the ground? Those are feet. They move .,. Or at least they’re supposed to. Gage, just go home. Julio and Hakeem, enjoy watching the game from the hot tub. Hope the TV falls in midgame.

    Dee Delaney is pretty good.

  6. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

BTW Dean is our #1 corner, not Davis.

  7. Defense Rules Says:

Right now I’d much rather have Ross Cockrell on our roster than Kyle Rudolph.

  8. Dlavid Says:

This team has no heart !

Delaney will be targeted…..TBBF predicts Dee will get a pick today….

Edwards will make a big play today.

I think we saw last week that playing without your entire starting secondary is no big deal. Surely the panthers won’t think to try to exploit that.

  12. Gofortheface30 Says:

PJ freaking Walker is quarterback. No CMC, no Anderson bad o line. I do not wanna see no god damn 15 play 8 minute drives, or PJ WALKER popping off for 340 yards passing with 3 TD’s. Idc who is at corner for us – the Bucs need to go up there kick their ass. Period

  13. JeffreyLane77 Says:

How many years in a row has this team had an injury depleted secondary? Feels like at least three years now? This team is like a crappy job where that one useless guy calls out regularly and gets away with it. So the necessary and normally responsible employees start calling out because there’s no repercussions and slowly nobody cares about thier job anymore. Just collecting a paycheck.

  14. Bucobill99 Says:

Just get the win doesnt matter how, just get W and all is good for the week

  15. D-Rok Says:

    DR,

Naw my brother, you got it wrong. Rudolph is extremely important to this team. Genius Lefty is purposefully holding him out and coaching him up to catch that important TD in our first playoff game. It’ll be a huge surprise, the opponent won’t even realize Rudolph is on our team, and Lefty will be hailed as our savior. See how smart he be?

LOL. What else on Earth are they doing with Rudoloph? SMH.

  16. ChiBuc Says:

Why would anyone worry about who’s in the secondary when all teams need to do is run straight at our DL? When Delaney has more tackles for a loss than half of our DL combined last week, bigger issues prevail.

  17. Mort Says:

1sparkybuc: leave Glenn out of this!

Really starting to hate this team allllllllllll over again. We need to draft toughness

    BucsFanFred,

    Nice mini-rant.
Do you read a lot of Charles Bukowski?

  21. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

It shouldn’t matter being down 3 corners. After all, like Pittsburgh, we are so incredibly well coached that we will come up with a scheme to shut down DJ Moore and whomever is left. We do that too, right? It’s not like if even ONE player (let alone 3) are hurt, we can’t play our defense.

Like last year against Taylor Heinicke…. there’s NO WAY we can let someone like that beat us, right? Our brilliant coaches will scheme it up and not give upo a bunch of 3rd and 9’s, right guys?
