Tom Brady Says If He Didn’t Like The Bucs, He Would Have Stayed Retired

April 28th, 2022

“Just one Twitter is all it takes, Tom.”

Regular readers know Joe has a hangup about this.

The rumors began to fly the minute Tom Brady was throwing in the towel on his unprecedented football career: Brady and Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians didn’t get along. Or Brady was frustrated with Arians. Or Brady seethed at Arians’ gameplans. You’ve read it all hundreds of times by now.

While in very public forums, Arians (and Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht) have strongly shot down these rumors, they persist and linger as much as ever. The only thing that slowed them was and is the draft.

Next week, watch these rumors bubble to the surface again.

Even though Arians has spent a great deal of time denying that he and Brady were on the outs, one major reason they continue is that Brady — no stranger to posting stuff on his many social media platforms, especially when he is selling something — has yet to type or utter a word about the rumors reported as facts.

Meanwhile, while pitching a new line of clothes from his collection, Brady granted an interview with Mike Destefano typing for something called “Complex.” There, Brady had an interesting line discussing his retirement about-face.

“There’s no way in the world I’d be coming back to play with guys that I didn’t care deeply about,” Brady said.

Wwweeelll… insert your personal thought here of the timing of Brady announcing he will return to the Bucs and Arians’ stepping into a front office gig.

So here is Joe’s hangup. If all of these rumors are BS — and Joe tends to believe they are — why hasn’t Brady come out on social media and shot them down? If he really cares about Arians, the best coach in Bucs’ history, why let his old coach twist in the wind like this for two months?

Shortly after Brady signed with the Bucs in 2020, Brady had an issue with a story on a Comcast/NBC-affiliated website appeared. He took to his Instagram stories account and blasted the publication and wrote with exclamation marks, “Be more responsible please!!!”

Yet with all these rumors filling the air for weeks that Brady and Arians clashed, not one peep from Brady.

The future Hall of Famer sure woke up and killed the perception earlier this month that he big-leagued Tristan Wirfs by not giving him his cell phone number. It took Brady like two hours to make sure his followers on social media knew Wirfs had his cell number.

The alleged Brady-Arians sparring has been the talk of the NFL since February. And Brady’s reaction? Crickets.

Why, Tom?

  1. SB~LV Says:

    Maybe

  2. Red-sparrow Says:

He’s referring to his teammates not Arians… Bruce may as well have been just a another guy on the sidelines with all due respect…

  3. BucfaninMi Says:

Some of these NFL writers or critics sound like overly dramatic teenage girl fan fiction writers. Starting to get to WWE levels😂

  4. tampabayallday Says:

He really wants to be in Tampa, it’s the FO’s job to keep him here and provide him with the talent he needs to fully take advantage of his skills while he and we still can.

  5. tampabuscsbro Says:

Let’s say it is true. What happens if the bucs chose Arians. Then Joe’s favorite QB Kyle Trask can be starting.

Arians said stuff like “Mike Florio you can write whatever you want” because he is old and doesn’t care.

Also what HC and QB hasn’t had disagreements?

So far only a few ones have peddled it that do not have the best integrity when it comes to reporting like Florio and two guys from the boston globe.

Meanwhile other NFL writers cannot confirm what they are claiming.

Also I still don’t get why Joe wants to be so hung up on this as he is.

  6. Red-sparrow Says:

    @BucfaninMi

Including one or both of the Joes. I’ve gotten an anti-brady vibe from these articles since Arians left. Almost acting as if blaming him for Arians leaving. Just a load of snide and sarcastic remarks and subtle shots at Tb12 for weeks from the Joes now.

  7. Joe Says:

Also what HC and QB hasn’t had disagreements?

Exactly. This is why Joe tends to believe they are BS.

  8. Mort Says:

Just ask him at the first press conference he has. Until then, you’re not getting anything new on this situation.

  9. Smashsquatch Says:

“Thank you, BA for all that you’ve done for me and our team,” Brady said on his Instagram. “You are an incredible man and coach, and it was a privilege to play for you.” Not exactly crickets.

  10. GOB Says:

What sparrow said. I think Brady personally likes arians very much. They probably have a fabulous off field relationship. Belichick and Brady were not close at all off the field. Liking a coach personally, is irrelevant. Brady wants a coach as singular minded as he is.

  11. SOEbuc Says:

First off isn’t Tom talk 90 percent bullcorn in the first place? And we’ve seen the boat parade, but Tom has to much class to try to feed fire to Florio and Simms. Truth is, he wanted one more attempt to get one more, and the Bucs weren’t gonna trade him.

He wants family time so I’ll move them to another city away from everything they’ve gotten use to in Tampa so he can learn a totally new system and be focused on football 24/7?

  12. Casual Observer Says:

    Much ado about nothing.

  13. Bob H Says:

I agree with you and the above comments. You do have a hang up about this and it has gotten really tiresome. Your egos have gotten the better of you. You just won’t let it go. You act like he owes you an explanation when you really don’t matter. I’ve been a big fan of yours and the articles and podcasts but it’s gotten to the point where I can’t stand it anymore. I’ll get my Buc’s news and information elsewhere now.

  14. TheBradyBunch Says:

Mort that is the primary question being asked around the league. When he grants these interviews does he tell the reporter that questions about him forcing Arians out are not allowed. When he answered the question about loving players on the team the obvious follow up question is about the coach. Either this guy is horrible at his job or was instructed not to go there.

  15. Bird Says:

Didnt you watch man in the arena episodes

Media has gone after him for years and gets upset when he doesnt answer questions perfectly. Why were you hanging out with so and so?

Bet he turned out the media a long time ago. Story after story of garbage. So he stopped even commenting to continue the garbage. Cause you can do that when you are the goat. They dont deserve jack. Like when ira demanded brady answer questions about AB days before playoff. Like brady should apologize for trying to help someone out that has serious issues.

  16. Joe Says:

You just won’t let it go.

Joe doesn’t believe in ignoring major stories, especially when they directly involve both the greatest quarterback to ever play and the best coach in Bucs franchise history. To do so would be grossly irresponsible. Never have ignored major stories and never will. It’s one major reason Joe gets head and shoulders more traffic than any other Bucs’ site. Joe understands this site is not for everyone. Can’t please all the people all the time.

  17. stvcl Says:

Why oh why do you keep flogging this dead horse? Tom is back. He is still a Buccaneer for at least this season. He states he cares about his Buccaneer teammates. Rejoice and be happy we’re not in a rebuilding year and we have a legitimate shot at the playoffs and possibly another Superbowl. Just stop.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Oh, thank you, thank you so much…..I finally got my Brady/BA rift article….been waiting for several days reading about boring draft prospects….etc.

I am now satisfied….but keep ’em coming.

  19. Kirk Says:

Maybe TB isn’t interested in giving keyboard banger anything else to BS about.

  20. Jmarkbuc Says:

It’s not a major story now Joe. It might have been once, but now this is just gratuitous click bait.

  21. PSL Bob Says:

    TBBF LMAO

  22. Buczilla Says:

Arians is old and doesn’t give a flying f what the national media goons think. Brady has his name mentioned nearly every single day by said goons, so he doesn’t care either. No harm, no foul.

  23. Will Says:

I believe it’s BS but I can’t stop writing about this BS is what you’re telling us Joe (or whoever is writing this article). Either ask the question to him directly or just let it go. It’s really that simple talking about some highschool girl drama you’re right in the thick of the drama.

  24. DG060 Says:

How many times have I wrote in here that Brady could squash these persistent never ending Miami rumors with ONE tweet?
    He never has done that.

  25. Bucboy Says:

He retired and was staying retired until he was told Arians would be retiring.

  26. Steven007 Says:

TBBF, for real, preach. You’d think he wasn’t quarterbacking our team. From everything I’ve ever heard about old coach, he’s head over heels with his new gig. I’ve heard Bowles say he looks 10 years younger already. The guys nearly 70, has won a super bowl and several coach of the year awards. Life is good for him I am sure. But Joe, Joe must know! Maybe get Tom’s digits from Tristan and ask the question directly?

  27. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Why would Brady not comment and let poor, old, feeble, BA twist in the wind?

A media person should certainly know the very easy answer to that….

It creates attention to the TB12 brand…….daily news broadcasts & articles….

    Without it……crickets.

  28. Jor God tha Binks Says:

“And (this) Joe tends to believe they are”….I (almost) love this Joe

  29. T in Orlando Says:

What “twisting in the wind” is Arians doing? Is his current/next career move being held up on Brady answering this question to reporters’ satisfication? Does Brady answering this question or not have any impact on Arians’ personal life?

Brady and Arians know the truth, whatever it maybe. They don’t owe anyone, including each other, any further public statement on the matter.

If one of them says something new on the matter, then perhaps this is a story. But until then, this is all rumor and speculation that will generate clicks and eyeballs, but ultimately meaningless.

  30. SKBucsFan Says:

Does it really matter why BA decided to leave coaching? We now have Todd Bowles calling the shots and most importantly TB12 running the offense. I don’t think anyone will miss BA’s antics of tossing players out or smacking them in the head. His day is over.

  31. Rod Munch Says:

I watched the Man in the Arena, the last episode about the Bucs, and it was pretty good – not great, but pretty good.

You do get the sense that Brady really was/is enjoying his time in Tampa, and does like his teammates, at least as much as a robot can like a human.

  32. Defense Rules Says:

‘So here is Joe’s hangup. If all of these rumors are BS — and Joe tends to believe they are — why hasn’t Brady come out on social media and shot them down?’

Wow, talk about sitting on the fence. On one hand you say you believe them, but on the other keep the fire burning by calling out Brady. Why even ask why Brady didn’t shoot the rumors down?

Tom Brady chose not to dignify all those ludicrous allegations, rightfully so BTW. I remember from years ago that Arnold Schwarzenegger coined the phrase ‘girly men’. That’s what our sports media is now turning into; please stop with all these inconsequential (and unsubstantiated) rumors & focus on sports. Today is the first day of the draft, isn’t it?

  33. DEEEMO Says:

Man, I am soooooooo tired of reading about this and the Brady to Miami stuff….So glad the NFL Draft is tonight! Also got the Lightning ready for the Cup Playoffs next week and the Rays Baseball…..

  34. D-Rome Says:

Smashsquatch, exactly. What more can he say or should he say? If Brady were to come out today and say, “I have no issue with Bruce Arians” then people would be questioning why he waited this long.

  35. Dooley Says:

Brady hasn’t come out and said anything about this nonsense for the same reason sharks don’t hunt remora. Also, Complex used to be a hip-hop mag/blog, that’s rebranded itself as a pop culture media company that covers almost everything that can be deemed “popular”.

  36. WillieG Says:

Brady doesn’t seem to comment on much football stuff in the off-season. Arians rift? No comment. Marpet’s retirement? No comment. Cappa’s move? No comment. Mason’s signing? No comment. Godwin’s injury and rehab? No comment. His new HC? No comment. I’m getting the impression he just doesn’t feel the need to address ANYTHING in the off-season.

  37. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Ask Elon…..>Elon knows……Tom’s comments were censored by Twitter months ago…..never made public…..

    You heard it here!!!

  38. Deano Says:

well said bird why justify himself they’re not going to believe him

  39. Listnfrmafar Says:

D-Rome, easy answer, because he thought nothing about them at first but felt because they are still lingering he wanted to kill the rumors. It’s absolutely true, Brady didn’t like the laid back culture, that’s not what he believes is a winning formula. That being said, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t like Uncle Buck.

  40. Joe Says:

    WillieG:

Brady has commented on most of the players/coaches you cited.

  41. Esteban85 Says:

I have 0 problems with all these articles. There is something there but I don’t think it will matter much once we start the season. I don’t think there is a beef between Brady and Arains but I’d wager a bet that BA rubbed Brady the wrong way and visa versa. In the end, who cares. But I appreciate the Joe’s and their due diligence. I did also appreciate the double barreled FU Brady gave the media in the current.

  42. HC Grover Says:

Brady got more credit for the SB than BA an his coaches.

  43. Oneilbuc Says:

How do yall know he’s telling the truth? Remember what he said 90 percent of what he says to the media is not how he really feels . But I now that he he this yall believe him now because that’s what yall want him to say lol 😆 🤣. But at the end of day it really doesn’t matter because he’s on the team this year. So who cares what he say at this point .

  44. Oneilbuc Says:

But now that he says this yall believe him now !! Lol 😆

  45. MadMax Says:

He knows he has another chance…its simple….and I admire that sht!

  46. Dooley Says:

    @HC Grover

    That’s a fact.

  47. Chip Taylor Says:

I’m sorry but don’t you think the phrase, “AC/DC loving GM” has been run through this washing machine a few more times than needed. Big crutch for professional writers!!!

  48. View from 132 Says:

Simply doesn’t matter right now… many top teams in all pro sports have these issues. We don’t need these two to like each other… just win.

The rest will be debated for years… how important Brady was vs. coaches, defense, supporting cast… whether there was a rift, all that.

First, they need a second ring or it was a 3 year experiment with one Super Bowl win. Feel good win, and great by Buc standards but certainly not some all-time great run and Brady immediately returns to always being a Patriot QB when he retires.

That second trophy completely changes the story of Brady in Tampa.

  49. WillieG Says:

Joe Allow me to rephrase: Brady doesn’t seem to comment EXTENSIVELY about anything. From what I’ve seen, he’s commented pretty much the same amount on each of the topics I listed. But, I’m not the one who suffers through all the NFL shows like you are (and thanks for that! Your efforts are much appreciated).

  50. Fishhawkbuc Says:

Sure beats what we were talking about with our previous degenerate QB…JW

  51. D-Rome Says:

    Listnfrmafar,

Go back to listening to Toucher and Rich with all their wonderful guests with “insider information”. Or do you get your Brady information from Zolak? The chuckleheads on both The Hub and WEEI have no more insider information than any of the clowns in the mainstream media. None of this matters either way. #12 plays for the Bucs and will likely lead this team to another Super Bowl appearance.

Let Brady go. You have a future star in Mac Jones.

  52. Listnfrmafar Says:

D-Rome, not a fan of Toucher & Rich, but I will listen to you because apparently YOU have to inside information that all these media professionals do not. End of story folks, NO rif D-Romes has spoken!

  53. Tampabaybucfsn Says:

Can’t we all just get along?

  54. Cobraboy Says:

So Brady’s IG praise of Arians was not enough and insincere?

  55. Listnfrmafar Says:

Cobraboy, 90% is BS. No one is saying Brady didn’t like BA, just doesn’t want to work with him.

  56. JimbobBucsFan Says:

We may not hear the true story with any details about how Brady sees/saw Belichick vs Arians for ten or more years after he truly retires. I suspect that his long tenure with the Patriots conditioned him to certain attributes in his first NFL head coach. I am sure TB has his private personal views on each of these guys at this time. However, time may make him change his mind about this or that many years from now.

It is fun to speculate! 🤔 🧐

  57. Pewter Power Says:

    And Brady’s reaction? Crickets.
    Why, Tom?

How long did it take Brady to admit he forgot what down it was in Chicago? Every lie has 80% truth to it, we know why he came back to the “Bucs“, he wanted to play and had no choice. Until he mentions Arians directly he’s still letting the guy twist in the wind.

  58. David Says:

There is a good reason Brady has never said anything, that’s how he has operated throughout his entire career.
When there is BS and rumors flying around, he ignores it. Otherwise someone in his position could be at a podium answering nonsense every day of his life.
The only time he actually addressed nonsense was the BS witchhunt that was the deflate gate and that’s because he was in a corner and forced to.

  59. Crickett Baker Says:

I know why he hasn’t said much (although he has said some things). He doesn’t know how to say he is good friends with Arians without the media twisting his words to make it sound weird, or not believing him anyway.

  60. westernbuc Says:

TB doesn’t do a lot of talking and in fact let’s others talk for him. Now, this leads simpletons to believe every time there’s a rumor, that’s TB talking through people.

How come no one is talking about Gisele? Normally every time Brady retirement talk happens, Gisele is brought up given that she publicly dislikes him playing. This time, the time with all the talk about a trade to Miami, and no one is talking about Gisele.

Also note that no one is talking about AB either. Guy went from public enemy #1 to persona non grata. Maybe he’s talking.

Anywho, just some conspiracies I’ve been mulling over the past week. Happy Draft Day everyone. Leave the Licht on!
