New Report Does Not Include Bucs As A Team Interested In Deshaun Watson

March 6th, 2022

“Hey Byron, look at what Lovie wants for Watson.”

After a week at the NFL Scouting Combine, well-plugged-in NFL writer Aaron Wilson fired up a new report today on the potential trading of creepy Texans quarterback DeShaun Watson.

To summarize, the Giants and Dolphins are out, Washington and Carolina are in the hunt, and Denver and Philadelphia are interested but Watson has no desire to go to Philly.

Wilson made no mention of the Buccaneers as a player in the Watson game that has teams figuring out whether Watson can deliver more wins than plaintiffs.

With each passing day, it feels like the Bucs may just have the resolve to roll with Blaine Gabbert or Kyle Trask as their starting quarterback. If that’s the case, then Joe sure hopes Trask gets the shot if he looks the part in August.

Zero chance we trade for that scumbag.

No need for Winston Part 2 in the Bay Area.

    Divided fanbase…no thanks. Sponsors leaving.

    No way it happens.

  2. SKBucsFan Says:

Yes. You reported on this earlier this week when you said Licht doesn’t want to give up too much for a QB. Last time I looked Houston wanted too much.

    Good.

  4. Bush's Coke Spoon Says:

I don’t believe that Arians would be staying on for ’22 if he didn’t think Trask can excel. Arians wants to live up to his self-designated nickname without embarrassing himself, and Trask is his legacy.

The 2022 season will expose bruce arrogance like a DeShaun Watson message.

  6. Craig Says:

Great, the Bucs need to build a good team around their possible future. That might be KT( Kyle Trask), but the team needs to be built up anyway.

Give KT his chance with a good team, he might be worth it.

If not, a good team might draw in another QB.

I think we have keeper, though, so build him a team to build dynasties with.

  7. FLBoyInDallas Says:

PR reported almost two weeks ago they had inside info that the Bucs did their due diligence on Watson, found some pretty disturbing info, and have since decided not to pursue a trade any further. The implication was that the Bucs discovered Watson’s character is even worse than has been reported.

  8. SB Says:

Love the talent but “creepy” describes it best.
    HARD PASS! No pun intended.

  9. TBD Says:

“Watson has no desire to go to Philly”

It is hilarious to me that this frikking FREAK is still demanding anything.

Sit down and shut the hell up.

And please stay away from TB.

  10. TBD Says:

Proud Bucs Fan….. tired as F**K of your Arians posts.

    And learn how to SPELL!!!!!

    It is massage.
    Not message.
    Dumb a$$.

  11. FLBoyInDallas Says:

The only “happy ending” to this saga will be Watson NOT coming to Tampa.

Maybe he can go to New England and join Bob Kraft for his customary Friday afternoon rub-outs.

  12. Buczilla Says:

Fishing is fun, but I’d rather watch football on Sundays and I could rationalize pretty much anyone but Gabbert as our starter. What an epic waste of our and the player’s time it would be if that scrub started the season.

  13. firethecannons Says:

I agree Joe–we all know there is no hope with Gabbert at least with Trask there is potential.

On another note the defensive backs really were ultra fast and talented at combine Perhaps we walk from CD24 hoping for 2 corners this year

  14. New England Patriots Fan Says:

I supported the reasoning on a skill level as to why Tampa should trade for him, but from what is available publicly re the allegations, and the shear number of them, make him an unpalatable option for many teams.

On personal level I didn’t like the option because of this, but following NE for so long I got used to win over everything mentality where as long as the player didn’t talk back to Bill, they would let anyone play if it meant a chance to win.

While the NE organization feigned this militaresque patriot way public face doing shady stuff at the ownership level.

Knowing the NFL and whom they are it is clear he will settle and will play sometime again in the NFL purely on talent unless the accusers go very public or have more evidence i.e. text etc making his return embarrassing PR wise for any team.

But if Bucaneers choose on moral side that it’s not the right choice I fully support that take as it’s not a good look for whomever trades for him, unless he somehow can support a clear reasoning as to why so many women would accuse him of doing a very similar thing repeatedly over a 12month period and why he texted some of the accusers threatening career defamation and apologizing for acts prior to the events going public.

Assuming those text messages are legitimate it’s a bad look.

Each passing day makes me look smart for not renewing season tickets

Here is what you have to keep in mind and it seems to be a mental obstacle for those screaming for Trask: Arians came back because he believes the Bucs can make the playoffs with a veteran quarterback; Trask is not a veteran quarterback. Arians didn’t return to start a guy who has never worn a game jersey yet.

That’s not a knock on Trask, it just is. It’s not about the person/QB, it’s about the resume, or lack thereof.

Trask may be an excellent QB. But he is as green as green can be. Do you really believe in your heart of hearts, deep down, that Trask can lead the Bucs on a playoff run? That is what Trask has to demonstrate and to prove to Arians this summer. This coming from a guy that has yet to wear a game jersey.

This isn’t Joe making stuff up here. This is everything Joe is hearing from people he trusts.

I hate the idea of planning for a rookie cornerback to start out of the box. Sometimes corners take several years to develop into starters. If it works out, great, but experiencing the growing pains while being forced to play 40-50 snaps per game might not be best for the player or the team.

  19. SB Says:

Well Joe, Trask was as green as green can be when he was thrown into the fire in the SEC and all he did was records and lead his team to the SECE Ship.
I get your angle of Arian’s set ways but the Bucs would but we already know what we have in Gabbert. He stank in college and he has stunk in the NFL.
    Miraculous change overnight?
I just hope Arians makes it a true competition if said situation plays out.

  20. SB Says:

    Dadgum talk to text.

  21. View from 132 Says:

If you can get him without a huge loss of draft picks, its worth the risk. A year from now, he could be cleared of this and you have a top 10 QB that could be top 5 as he got back in playing shape.

If Rodgers goes to the broncos how can brady not unretire and come back? Clear cap space and give it a couple of more gos.

    Pretty good joes
Well i hope Ebeneezer Spooge does not go to CArolina. That would
Really suck. Dude can ball. No question. His only problem well has to do with his unwanted forced upon balls
    😂

  26. Hodad Says:

Washington a team investigated for sexual miss conduct is in the hunt? Me no think so. Riverboat would never coach that POS.

The way to get him to hesitate in the pocket is to rush him with a small white towel and a bottle of baby lotion.

  28. Jerry Says:

Yeah I can’t imagine Washington trading for him. That would be a TERRIBLE PR move for a franchise that is trying to move beyond that stuff.

  30. Joe Says:

Well Joe, Trask was as green as green can be when he was thrown into the fire in the SEC and all he did was records and lead his team to the SECE Ship.

Here is what a long-time NFL assistant told Joe last week when he brought up that very point about Trask to the coach.

“After you have been in the NFL for a year what you did in college doesn’t mean jack sh!t. You are on a much higher level of football now.”

“Arians came back because he believes the Bucs can make the playoffs with a veteran quarterback”

Where did you get this info?

How do you really know what is in BA’s head?

This is speculation and an assumption based on what? Perhaps BA knows this team isn’t going anywhere this season and BA wants to coach and collect millions of dollars for riding a golf cart.
