Call Big Storm Brewing and either pre-order for a massive takeout order in January, or start booking a table. It’s a very, very safe bet the Bucs are in the playoffs. History tells Joe so.
The Bucs today advanced to 9-3. It ties the best start through 12 games in franchise history. Joe thinks you know what happened in 2002.
Joe is willing to bet the Bucs don’t collapse the rest of the way like in 2008. No JaMarcus Russell on the schedule.
The Bucs now have a stranglehold on the NFC South with a four-game lead. Joe thought it was more than ironic that late in the game, you could hear from the Dixie Chicks’ crib that famous Ted Nugent song, “Stranglehold.”

Wrong. 2008 Bucs did not win division or make playoffs. 9-3 en-route to 9-7. Didn’t you have an article on this earlier today?

Not. Just for some reason it is stuck in Joe’s head that 2008 was a playoff season, not 2007. Just like Joe is always thinking 2014 is when Lovie showed up. It was 2013.

No, 2008 was the year Monte Kiffin decided to follow his son Lane to a college team (Tennessee?), announced it before the 13th game, and we lost the last four games, getting tossed out of the playoffs. That, children, was the start of the Raheem Morris era..followed by Greg Schiano…then Lovie Smith….then what his name…and that gave us Bruce Arians….
