Unstoppable!

December 5th, 2021

Beasting

Guess who has 82 catches — EIGHTY-TWO! — through 12 games and a new Buccaneers’ receiving record.

That would be Pro Bowl receiver and Bucs leading receiver Chris Godwin after his monster day in Atlanta.

Godwin’s 15 catches (on 17 targets) set a Bucs’ single-game record, and his 143 yards on those catches jacked his totals on the season to 82 receptions for 949 yards.

Man, those Godwin hands are worth every bit of the $20 million per season he’s going to want with his new contract for 2022 and beyond. And at this rate, Godwin will be asking for $25 million annually.

The Falcons had no answers for Godwin today and, keeping it real, the Falcons had no answers for anything the Bucs did on offense other than the wacky Tom Brady pick-6 to end the first half.

The huge day by Godwin and Evans (7 catches, 99 yards) makes it feel like order has been restored in Bucs kingdom.

Best all-around WR in the league.

    Grown man.

  2. Garv Says:

Obviously teams have been playing two safties deep against the Bucs. Well, freaking Chris Godwin and TB12 MAY have found a way around that! So IMPRESSED!!!!

  3. ElioT Says:

Byron is making it harder than it should be though. Very suspect game planning and play calling. Fight me

  4. PSL Bob Says:

The Bucs are going to have to figure a way to keep Godwin next year, even if it means franchising the man once again.

  5. Rod Munch Says:

BTW, Mike had 7 catches for 99 yards today. Did anyone even notice that? Wow, I had no idea watching the game, it felt like an off game for him.

  6. JimmyJack Says:

I thought this would be a Mike Evans article. Or maybe a Gronk or Fournette.

Chris definitely deserves the praise for his moster game. But dang gum we had monster games by all our top skill players. Maybe not monster stats like Chis but clutch plays in critical stiuations.

Brady did a great job attacking all over the field today and so many of those throws were teeny tiny windows.

  7. JimmyJack Says:

Munch Ev ed ns had a hell of a game today. That one catch in the redzone was unreal.

  8. #1bucsfan Says:

Gotta say I posted a comment earlier today saying we could let CG14 walk in free agency this year so we can get some more help on defense mostly the DBs but after CG14 game idk. Lol great game

  9. Dirty Bucs Says:

Yeah guys, it’s the crappy play calling holding back the 9-3 Bucs, with receivers beating 2 high safeties by taking what the Defense gives them. That’s the ticket 🙄

  10. Beeej Says:

    17 targets, 15 catches. Unreal

  11. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – I know, I think back now and I say, yeah – nice game for Evans. But watching the game, at the end, I wasn’t thinking about him and it felt like an off day. That’s the sign of a special player, when you look up at the end of the day and say how in the world did he have a 100 yards…

But all credit to Godwin today. Those are rugged plays he’s making, and he clearly got kicked right in the nuts on that one play, he puked all of the front of his jersey, and yet he finished out the game strong.

  12. Listnfrmafar Says:

Where’s Wesley & Rod Munch crapping on Brady and all you b#tching about check downs? You take what the D gives you. Godwin unreal and Evan’s day could of been even bigger if he didn’t let up and lay himself out on that deep pass. It wasn’t that far off. I can’t fathom how good this O will be once AB is back, even more opportunities for these guys to get open. I agree about BL, those calls before the half were horrible. If your going to play dump off then take a knee.

  13. orlbucfan Says:

Brady hopefully gets it and will do more plays with ME13. CG14 is not 100% healthy now.

  14. Listnfrmafar Says:

Orl? 99 yards and 143? He doesn’t get it??? You take what the D gives you!!!

  15. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Man the Bucs could really save a lot of money by hiring you armchair OCs who think they know more than Byron. Brady threw for 369 yards and 4 tds and you complain. If they would’ve run and Lenny got stuffed in the end zone you would be crying “why didn’t they pass?”!! The DE just made a great play. Unreal

  16. Coburn Says:

Yeah rod Evans had a good day early, as he often Seems to do against falcons. Was hoping it’d turn into a 200 yard game for him… Prob could have, but Brady missed him on a deep ball and at least one other time. As him in single coverage and open a couple other times. Finally saw some throws to him over the middle and some spectacular sideline grabs. Those have historically been his bread and butter, but it’s been Godwin getting a lot of the cost the middle and Evans being asked to clear guys out

  17. Coburn Says:

They didn’t do too much in 3rs quarter and let Evans and fournette sort of be forgotten, but good for Godwin

  18. Listnfrmafar Says:

Evan’s went in on a back shoulder throw, they ran the same play the following down, Evan’s ran the correct route and made the catch. The deep ball, go back and watch it, he beat the corner then Evan’s saw a safety lining him up and he pulled up and didn’t layout for the pass. All you Evan man crush fans, he’s not that good, Godwin had 15 catches only one he had to extend over his head (great catch) that means 14 of them were on target. So why could he Get open? Brady found him. FYI, Brady completed passes to 9 different receivers, even Rojo who sucked today.

  19. Bob in valrico Says:

List ,that is just plain silly Brady played very well today. A QB’s job is to put the ball in the best possible place to catch the ball not in the dirt in front of him.
Evans also helped him out on the crossing route that Brady Threw around his knees. There were a couple of others that could have been better placed that
fell incomplete. You seem to be guilty of a little bit of a hero worship your self
my friend. If the O line s hift didn’ t give the play away, it was the clearest staredown of receiver I have ever witnessed by Brady. Other than that he played a near perfect game.

  20. unbelievable Says:

Not only did Evans have 99 but he was wide open on dozens of other plays too.

There were several times today where I felt like the Bucs offense was just having a practice, methodically going tbrough different plays and concepts…

  21. Bob in valrico Says:

the last two sentences refer to the checkdown near the goalline in my previous post.

  22. Listnfrmafar Says:

Bob, were you watching the same game? Brady through out Evan’s threw in and it is not uncommon for a pass across the middle to be low, for two reasons, prevent the int and keep receiver from getting his head taken off. Someone that knows football would know this. If a wr in the NFL can’t catch a ball at his knees, cut him. I understand some of the fan loyalty to Evan’s, he has been there throughout the bad and now good but it is you with the man crush cause no one on the board is complaining about Godwin not getting the ball today. Evan’s can be your hero next week.

  23. Buc king Says:

    Amazing game for the kid

  24. Bob in valrico Says:

List, apparently I wasn’t but I make every attempt to watch with out preconceived biases. Thats the difference. But its pointless to argue with you.
You see what you want to see .

  25. Listnfrmafar Says:

Bob, I to don’t want to argue, I see the same as you do what is on television. I have played linebacker for a high level D1 college and disect things a little differently. The QB play is off the charts when you consider the speed these defenders have and how quickly decisions have to be made, maybe that’s why I defend it.

  26. VSyl Says:

Release OJ and pay this guy with the money. He is more than worth it

  27. Eddie Marz Says:

Who was the dope that called for a pass at the end of the half. Bad decision. Your up by ten, deep in your own territory, no need to play risk it then. You would never see Belicheck make sure a stupid move. You don’t beat yourselves, you make the other team try and beat you. Good thing they were playing The Falcons and playoff team. Have to play smart.

  28. Rod Munch Says:

Listnfrmafar – You got your people mixed up, I love Brady.

  29. Listnfrmafar Says:

Sorry Rod. Eddie, that was a designed play, what confuses me is they went short the play before, what was BL trying to accomplish? I will say if the pass isn’t picked off it did look like there was room in front if Lenny but how much? Don’t get it, you would think if Bucs were trying to get in FG range they would throw a slant or back shoulder not a screen on your own 12 yd line.

  30. adam from ny Says:

currently brady is is having a romance with gronk, godwin and fournette…

    these are his trusted few

  31. Ne+ bucs fan Says:

Yeah bad game planning,, Brady couldn’t of threw 2 more TD,,bum,,and gronk, only 2 td,cut him,,Godwin looked like crap, only 17 rec,,sit him,,and the stiff ME,,,man seriously,,ha ha

  32. TampabayDJ82 Says:

David Big Bucfan99- THANK YOU !! AGREED 💯.. I will say it AGAIN , No matter how great the Bucs play , MOST of these “ARM CHAIR OC’s” will find something to complain about !! Fake Buc fans .. Or just SPOILED ! You all must not have watched the games before Brady got here !!?? It was a LONG 15 YEARS , you guys couldn’t have watched it because you would be APPRECIATING what we have NOW !!

  33. Brady Girl Says:

Brady doesn’t trust Evans as much as he does Gronk, Godwin, Lenny!

I don’t call CG14 “Ungodly” for nothing! He plays with a ton of heart as well as football IQ. But he’s more banged up than ME13. I hope Brady will start to rely more on ME13.
Whatever the highest WR salary is right now, Chris Ungodly has earned and deserves it!
