No Real Updates On Injuries

December 13th, 2021

MRI tests for Giovani Bernard.

There were only two injuries of note from yesterday’s Bucs thrilling overtime win over the Bills. And one, technically, is not an injury.

First, Giovanni Bernard. While the backup running back walked off the field after suffering an injured hip, he had to be carted to the locker room. Several Bucs teammates came out onto the field to show him support, so it sort of showed how much Bernard is liked in the locker room. Joe thought that was a cool gesture.

Arians said today in his day-after presser he had no additional information on Bernard other than to say he’s “in the tube,” meaning Bernard is undergoing an MRI to determine the exact nature of his injured hip.

The other “injury” isn’t an injury at all and perhaps it is more a mystery. That’s Jamel Dean.

Now Dean suffered a concussion in the win over the Dixie Chicks and was in concussion protocol for much of last week. He obviously cleared tests to play yesterday.

After the game Sunday night, Arians said Dean “just got foggy” and had to leave the game. Bucs media relations issued an injury report during the game that Dean has an “illness.”

Today, Arians clarified what he could with Dean’s injury.

Arians said Dean is “dealing with the wooziness.” The Bucs’ medical staff is trying to pinpoint what is behind it and Arians did not rule out it could be concussion-related, but that was little more than a guess.

“Is [the condition] concussion-related or just something else, [a] head cold or something?” Arians said.

So, until this mystery with Dean is solved, no one knows his status for Sunday’s game with the Saints, or beyond.

Bernard is a pretty tough dude. Has to be something serious for him to get carted off

Dean gets hurt every game I swear. Need to address CB position in the draft!

  3. DBS Says:

Next season find at least 1 vet CB. Playing with Dean and SMB is playing with 1 hand behind your back. They can’t cover or tackle. And Dean can’t stay on the field.

I’ve been watching football for 45 years and I can’t ever recall a position group so often and repeatedly decimated with injuries.

What gives? Bad drafting? Bad trainers? Just weak guys?

    Strange.

Too much Benadryl…..will make you woozy every time……lay off the stuff Jamel.

Well that was always the knock on Dean… injury prone.

Wooziness sounds like lingering concussion and/or he got another one. It’s not like all the effects of that just disappear in a week…
