It’s hard to watch our defense. Very frustrating. I originally blamed our D Line but our secondary looks lost in space and can’t cover for a split second. This is a terrible defense with an easy to read scheme. SMB is right back where he left off. I hate that we have improved exactly nothing. Todd Bowles. Are you frigging serious?

Hey, in case you haven’t noticed, this is a FAN site. Some of you do nothing but complain. You expect people to play perfectly, and if they miss an assignment or get a penalty, or do something other than be perfect on a play or two you’re in here saying they blow. Here’s news, there isn’t a team in the NFL who has an all pro at every position. Just stop with the complaining about players every single time the offense gets a first down when we’re on defense. The other team is full of pros as well.

Nothing wrong with the short passes so long as they work and you move the ball – if you do the short passes enough it opens up the deep ball later in the game.

I don’t mind running on 2nd down, you expect to get a solid 5 yards there – but the actual run that was called I didn’t like. But always easy to 2nd guess the play, but I do like things aren’t typical Leftwich, which is run up the middle for 1 yard and always make it 2nd and 9.
Issue is you can’t get FGs since this defense stinks, and the Giants might run the half out.

cmurda – Well that’s the thing, Leftwich called a bad play on 3rd down, thus he was outcoached when you combine that with the 2nd down run. Two bad playcalls in a row, even if the idea of run/pass wasn’t all that bad.

I don’t mind these 2nd down runs, it beats the 1st down run up the middles for no gain. Just mix it up, that’s all I’ve asked, then if you do so, you can run up the middle on 1st for more than 0.2 yards.

SMB has made a noticable difference for this defense. He came up with a few big tackles, and you seen Dean step up and have a few key tackles as well. We havent been making these plays all year. The rest of the defense seems to be responding. We are attacking the ball with authority. Playing a lot faster on defense and look very confident.
Our offense is pretty much unstoppable since the Giants passrush is been dominated. Stinnie should be a starter next year……..Brady breaking that tackle was my favorite play of the year so far………but can somebody tell our recievers they need to get open in the endzone if our QB has 10 mississippis. I havent made up my mind yet if Tyler Johnson or Perriman is worse yet.

Wesley – When? I can remember Gronk catching them, I can remember OJ catching them (when he got injured last year), but Brate, all I think of is INTs. Against the Rams there was an INT on that play, I want to say twice against the Rams last year but I could be remembering it wrong. I think against the Saints was anyone one. But I have no memory of Brate ever catching the ball on that deep middle of the field seam pass.

I don’t get what happened on 3rd down, the edge rusher came off completely unblocked. Not sure if he was supposed to be chipped, but I can’t imagine that Gino is supposed to take on an edge rusher.

This is a huge part of our Defense thats been missing all year. I dont know I dont care what caused his slow start.
2 games in a row White has been flashing all over the field. If he can play like this consistently we mighg gotta break out our grave digging shovels!

EA – I still want Bowles to do a better job.
This defense is so much better when White is playing balls out running towards the QB, tackling the RB behind the line if it’s a handoff. On that 4th down play, they have White in coverage, instead of rushing, with predictable results.

Bucs defense only gave up 3 legit points tonight, really amazing how different this Bucs team is at home.
We’ll find out next week in Indy if this defense is actually looking better or if it’s just playing a bad offense. The Chiefs defense looked like complete garbage for most of the year, then against the Packers backup they put up a good game, and suddenly they’ve been good ever since. Sometimes, it just takes a good game to get everything back on track. That Colts offense will let us know a lot.

I was going to say, before Brate dropped yet another pass, that I’d be concerned about Evans, except he gets hurt more than anyone in the NFL, and somehow always gets back in the game, thankfully. I think he’s just really cautious at the first sign of anything wrong, which in turn makes him more careful and not get seriously hurt.

Still threw the ball way too much tonight – all you need is 3.5 yards a carry every play and that was there all night long.
Every single game that we struggle in, it’s cause we throw too much. Got away with it tonight, but this will come back to haunt us if Arians and Leftwich don’t take it seriously.

It worries me most that Gronk wasn’t out there. If that’s him, he probably catches it on the run for a TD, but he wasn’t in, then on the next play, Leftwich’s favorite, a run up the middle, Brate was still there whiffing on the block.
Hopefully Gronk is OK, he’s such an incredible key to this offense. It’s really disappointing that OJ hasn’t stepped up, he started off so well last year and was playing well when he got hurt.

I don’t have anything against Brate, I don’t want him to fail, but he’s been awful this year. He can no longer get open, he’s dropping stuff he normally catches.
He’s turned 30, he’s a guy who never had athleticism, he can’t block, and now he can’t catch. Yes, he can catch if he’s wide open, but catching in the NFL is about getting open, and he’s lost a step that he never had.
