Jeff Darlington: Tom Brady “Loves” Playing With Bucs

February 23rd, 2021

Hearts the Bucs.

One way to not play like you are 43 years old is to feel as motivated as a 30-year old.

And it seems that may be a hidden advantage of park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, trophy-throwing Bucs Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady.

A little background: Jeff Darlington of BSPN, a proud Seminole High School grad, has an in with Brady’s camp. Joe’s not sure what that is, but Darlington certainly has some long-established relationship or a mole there. It’s been obvious for years.

Remember: After Joe got Bucco Bruce Arians to say he would call Tom Brady, Darlington was the first to come out and report it’s not outrageous to think Brady would choose the Bucs. Some 10 months later, he’s tossing the Vince Lombardi Trophy across the Hillsborough River hoping his Bucs receivers grab it.

Per Tyler Conway of Bleacher Report, Darlington had new juicy intel of what Brady is telling his people about the Bucs.

To simplify it, Darlington said Brady is telling his inner circle how much he “loves” the Bucs team he led to a Super Bowl title.

“I know people do joke, all of us joke, about the fact that Brady has a lot of the say, but he loves what [general manager Jason Licht] did last year and thinks if they can bring this band back together that they’ll be even better coming into this season,” Darlington said. “He told people around him that he just loved this team so much.”

Why is this intriguing to Joe? Just after the season, Bucs quarterback coach Clyde Christensen was adamant that the Bucs offense was weeks from peaking. He said if the Bucs had to play eight more games after the Super Bowl, it would be at that moment the offense would have been hitting overdrive.

If that’s the case, then if Licht somehow can keep the band together, imagine what this offense will be like this season?

Like I said in the last post, 14-2 reg season record or better is a distinct possibility, and of course another run deep in the playoffs and on to kicking in the Super Bowl door again. GO BUCS!!!!

  2. DoooshLaRue Says:

Pinch me…… this is a dream!

  3. 813bucboi Says:

    c’mon licht….

go from a GOOD to GREAT GM!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  4. chris L Says:

it was such a close team and given the protocols i couldnt be more proud of these guys. dont tell me leadership is rhetoric. leadership is backed up by production and good play. brady brought all of that.

  5. Jeagan1999 Says:

Can’t wait to see what these guys can do in 2021 and beyond!!!

It’s great to be the Champs!!!

    GO BUCS!!!! TB12!!!!

  6. Casual Observer Says:

They should get most back (surely lose a couple). And will be even better this next season. Lots to look forward to.

  7. 813bucboi Says:

who wouldnt love playing for the best OC and DC in the league…lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  8. DoooshLaRue Says:

I just checked my sheet….. and it said leadership, accountability and less turnovers means more wins.

That’s alot of talk, just remember the Bucs will be the hunted next year and all teams will give them their best shot.

Celebrate your bootys off, but stay humble, this league has a way of messing with the best laid plans.

  10. Bird Says:

    Pretty cool stuff

Let him play here until the wheels fall off. That could be 50 😂
If they can win another title we may have a window to establish a bucs dynasty

Come to tampa , live on the beach with great weather and no state income tax and when you win a superbowl , you have lit boat parades. Oh and we have a pirate ship in our stadium. Seems pretty simple to me.

Go back into the archives and check out the brady haters. Said he wouldnt come and it would be a disaster. And oline and defense would suck and we would all turn on brady. Even poster names- brady is a cheater. One brady hater just the other day confirmed brady was a cheater. Referenced deflategate and compared brady to barry bonds steroid issue. 😂

I double checked. Brady has won 4 super bowls since that afc title game where patriots won 45 to 7. So what does air in a football have to do with anything

If you count playoffs and super bowl this year , brady threw for 50 tds and 15 ints at age 43. Its so funny for the haters to try and take away from his greatness. 😂

We will lose a great players or two …but guess what …other great players will take their place. “ If you build it …he will come “

  11. Gofortheface30 Says:

1976 – agree 100%. Good chance to have home field throughout the playoffs. Can you imagine the NFC championship game here, packed house? If the Bucs get that kind of continuity that I think they can get, and make that next level jump, this is a 15-1 type team folks that could average 35 a game. Couple that with a defense that could (should) play like they did against Green Bay and KC, this whole “we’re going for 2” thing isnt just bluster by Bruce – this team could be an absolute freight train in 2021. We are living the ultimate dream right now. This is it. Some of us commenting here for years never thought this would happen, not anywhere near to this extent anyway

  12. SB Says:

Just imagine if we had Brady three years ago

  13. crazyBucs_CL Says:

@ “He told people around him that he just loved this team so much.”
    ————————————–
..and we love you back TB12.It is speechless, dreamed, unbelievable, what TomB has done for this team, us, and the tampabay.
I hope this dream/reality last as long as possible.
JL has paid ALL his debt with just bringing him here, and keeping him happy here. 🙂

  14. Mike Says:

This means the Bucs need to keep Godwin and Gronk and probably AB next season, no matter what.

  15. doolnutts Says:

At this point Licht has my full trust. Even if we don’t bring everyone back he has been a mad scientist lately. He will have this team locked and loaded come September. Free agency will be important but if he can get a couple starters out of the draft like he has been doing we will be lighting it up.

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The smart move would be to keep this defense together and let Brady make-do with the current offense less a couple of big pieces like Godwin & Fournette….

That will be up to Brady….either way, we will be very strong.

  17. Bucfan81 Says:

I agree with keeping the defense together. Gronk needs to be brought back on offense. If we were to lose a couple offense of people such as Godwin and AB we still have depth at WR in Scotty Miller and Tyler Johnson. Plus we have the draft where we can fill in a few holes on offense if we lose some players.

  18. Anonymous Says:

they need to keep O line intact to protect Brady!!!!!!!!!

  19. Uncle Says:

    72 Dolphins watch out….

  20. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

I am a mike evans stan but I think that 2021 could see mike evans and tom brady setting QB/WR passing records that brady set with Randy Moss. With Mini camps and preseason training camp I think Clyde C is right on the money cannot wait. It has been forever on this site that I for one am not pounding the table for the bucs to draft this player or that one at this point in the year

  21. Joe in Michigan Says:

The defense could be even better this year, if the Bucs could add the SACK MASTER:

  22. Tc Says:

This is all so much fun to watch after years of the suckaneers, it’s like a video game – don’t wake me up.

  23. Youngbucs Says:

Buddhaboy 19 I agree with you 100% but Brady has never had a losing season. And has never missed the playoffs I’m willing to bet on those odds. But nothing is guaranteed you are correct.

  24. Tackleblockwin Says:

To put the icing on the cake, all we need is a packed Ray Jay next season cheering this team on. Us longtime fans remember what it was like back in the day. Would be great for newer Bucs fans to experience the excitement of a full stadium + a very good Bucs team.

  25. crazyBucs_CL Says:

    @Anonymous Says:
“they need to keep O line intact to protect Brady!!!!!!!!!”
    ——————————–
…absolutely….and add some depth….. he should be intact, period. EVERYTHING start with TB12, period.

  26. AtlBuc Says:

Knowing the competitive nature of Brady, he’s going to be going for the undefeated season. The way we dominated the leagues elite teams I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect that. At least, that’s what I am expecting

  27. ArmchairGM Says:

The best thing Brady has done, outside bringing a championship to Tampa, is unleashing chaos in the NFL this off-season. QBs think they should have influence on GM and coaching decisions, but none of them are Tom Brady. We could see half the league starting a new QB next season.

  28. Joe in Michigan Says:

Video wasn’t added to my comment. Check out Von Miller’s first 100 sacks on YouTube, the dude is amazing.

  29. webster Says:

    @ doosh

I checked my sheet and as I have ALWAYS stated, it takes a TEAM ie……less missed field goals and extra points, a defense that does not give up 70%+ completion to EVERY qb and not finish 30th or worse for 5 years, a running game where peyton barber or jaques rodgers are not the bell cow, an oline that actuall protects and opens running lanes will equate to more wins because it takes a TEAM!! How many sacks did wirfs give up compared to dotson? Cappa couldnt even beat out kaleb benonoch 2 years ago. Oh thats right i guess teddy bridgewater is no longer a good qb now to buc fans who were screaming to bring him in. How much “winning” did he do in carolina when most of the team SUCKED? Funny how that works.

  30. 6throundpick Says:

I watched TB12 for 20 years, since his first game. I wanted him to leave New England; hated seeing him there in his last NE season. Glad he came to TB; a great fit. I could see him really enjoying himself at the parade. For a genuine TB12 fan, this has been one of the best seasons ever to take in. Methinks, Tampa extended Tom’s career. Everybody wins. #EyesOn8

  31. Rob in Land O Lakes Says:

Uncle Says: “72 Dolphins watch out….”

It’s like when a pitcher has not allowed a batter to reach base by anything other than a walk, HBP or an error…..YOU NEVER SAY THE WORDS! I wouldn’t let anyone in my house say the word “champagne” until the 2 minute warning of SBLV LOL

  32. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

Of course he does, his Oline are psychotic and his receiving core IMO are the overall best in the league. Brady, Gronk, AB and Fournett were not even on the team last year, no OTA’s are you kidding me SB champs. I hate to see it happen but Godwinay have to go, he’s not worth #1 money. AB can do what he did and get Johnson & Miller more involved.

  33. ocala Says:

I agree with August. I doubt the Bucs go undefeated, but a 14-2 regular season with a relatively healthy team is a distinct possibility next year.

  34. PSL Bob Says:

If the band stays together – best team of all time?

  35. cmurda Says:

I’m switching gears. I originally said, let’s not mortgage the future in 3 years. Now, screw it. This team could be a mini destiny. We’ll worry about 3 years from now, 3 years from now. Backload those contracts Licht. Git er done.

  36. TB12one Says:

Has anyone heard from Npuppy lately? He probably blew his wad when Jamoist threw the TD pass in the playoffs. Eating W’s!!!! Go Bucs!!!

  37. Stanglassman Says:

Doosh- You’ve called me a Winston nut hugger mutable times and now you’ve forgotten me.
I’m not sure that any of us who thought Jameis deserved a 2nd year in BAs system thought less turnovers wouldn’t lead to more wins.

  38. Oneilbucs Says:

Doosh You are a true sheep that’s what the national media tell yall about these quarterbacks the hold leader ship thing lol lol 😁😆😆 !! So why didn’t Brady leader ship help the Patriots last year when Sony Mitchell went down ?? Lol lol 😄😁😆😆 he had to come to a team with ok weapons and then they had to give him 4 new runningbacks and AB and Gronk and change the playbook and you dummies still think this is the same playbook and same team from last year lol lol lol 😄😁😆😅!!!
