Bruce Arians Names “Tom Brady” As A Quarterback Of Interest

February 25th, 2020

Joe pinned down Bucco Bruce Arians today at the NFL Scouting Combine after the Bucs head coach said in various ways that he’s not ready to call Jameis Winston his starting QB in 2020.

JoeBucsFan.com: Coach, you said regarding quarterback, you can win with Jameis but you want to see who else is available. Is it fair to say there’s one guy out there, that if he was available you would pick up the phone?

Bruce Arians: Tom Brady.

Another reporter quickly mentioned Philip Rivers to Arians and he said, “Philip is another guy, we’ll see.”

So there you have it, it may very well be Brady or bust at One Buc Palace.

Joe’s got plenty to share from today’s Combine in Indianapolis. And Joe will have plenty others won’t have. So keep coming back.

Uhh….who’s we? I’d gladly take TB over RF. Fitzmagic is serviceable but I’d never take him as the starter over pretty much anyone in the league….except JW of course.

  6. Allbuccedup Says:

Brady is not leaving New England.

  7. Robert Says:

just shows most of you fans are clueless folks without critical thinking skills.

  8. Allbuccedup Says:

Belecheat will sign him to a one year plus an option year.

  9. Sport Says:

Easy answer without offending JW. He’s the best ever. He’s clutch! JW can’t complain about his HC saying he’d want Brady. Rivers, like him or not, is probably a HOF’r.

I’ve got my popcorn Joe. Let’s see what other smoke screen nuggets you can generate.

    In BA I Trust!

  10. El Buco Realisto Says:

If not then whoever should only get a one contract, or an option that can terminate the contract as the Bucs are most likely to Bust!!!!!!!!!!! The new regime should not be saddled by bad decisions made in desperation by the so called “win now” ole stale biscuit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The “real” fans know that we all will be talking of “new” GM’s before November!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Dr. Buc Says:

Rivers is no more of a winner then Jameis…

  12. Sport Says:

El Pessi – you’re funny, new regime planning. The new HC is already already on staff. New GM, not with BA calling the shots. And it’s likely Licht will have developed a good relationship with the new HC.

    In BA I Trust!

  13. MadMax Says:

Yes! Told y’all….get ready for TB in TB!!!!!! 🙂

  14. D-Rome Says:

Anything said today by BA is mostly nonsense or stating the obvious.

  15. james west Says:

brady rivers, draft eason, let him sit a year or two depending on how our new qb and team is doing, then draft right tackle, edge rush rb best available

  16. james west Says:

i’m all for it i think winsome and tampa need to part ways, it’s a mutual thing that may benefit both party’s

  17. Pete I Says:

He said a whole lot more and Licht added enough to really wonder about Jameis Winston’s future in Tampa.

That said it could all be just negotiations talk but still it was very interesting.

  18. zzbuc Says:

I am not a JW lover neither a hater…but if u ask me JW or Rivers….the answer is JW!!! No Doubt

  19. AtlBUCS Says:

From what I heard in the interview the Bucs are going to keep Jameis. He said “We know what we’re going to do but we’re not telling anybody” and then he said, “But we’re keeping our eyes open to see who else is out there”. Then he said that his offense is not easy to master and Jameis made great strides in improving his game.
BA does not want to start over from scratch teaching someone else his offense unless its a backup.

  20. Pete I Says:

Arians admitted that December “wasn’t what I was hoping to see” from Winston and called him an “unknown quantity” while explaining why he was more certain about wanting Shaq Barrett back on defense than he is about the quarterback call.

General Manager Jason Licht echoed Arians’ sentiments by saying that “we’re at a point where we can look behinddoor two, three and four” before deciding how to proceed. He added that taking that approach doesn’t mean they don’t want Winston back in Tampa

  21. Blogtalkfootball.com Says:

If the combine were held in Illinois, I would say the smoke is coming from a dispensary…

  22. Cobraboy Says:

I would sell Mom CB to the Arabs for two seasons of Tom Brady in a Bucs uniform.

Brady with the Bucs receivers in an Arians offense could be pure magic!

I’d prefer Brady over Rivers, but either one with a young gun to learn from a veteran great would be totally fine with me.

Paying a Brady $30 million is an entirely different metric than paying Jameis Christ the same $$$.

  23. Adrnagy Says:

lol. All you are guessing and scratching your big heads.

  24. FB Moderated!! Says:

I think rather than alluding to who he wanted, Arians was basically saying the GOAT is available, so that is a dumb question and move on. But we are glad you asked. I would have preferred you ask about the outliers like dalton, car or bridgewater. Maybe he would have excluded one.

  25. Robert Says:

all folks from NE move to FL!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Ateonetree Says:

Brady with our weapons might win another mvp award along with a potential ring

  27. Steve Munoz Says:

    Bring the goat to Tampa!

lol. All you are guessing and scratching your big heads.

Uhh, it literally came out of the coaches mouth. He didn’t hesitate in saying it, he was asked a question and without a moment’s thought, he said Tom Brady. TB is one of the biggest names in the game that BA has not worked with.

I’m not saying it’s going to happen but there is no doubt in my mind if TB actually expressed interest in coming to the Buc’s, Licht and BA would dump Winston quicker than you can evacuate your bowels after eating 12 chili burritos from Taco Bell.

  29. The Man Says:

    Sign Jameis!

  30. Robert Says:

    to the panthers

  31. AtlBUCS Says:

The Bucs are meeting with Jameis agent tomorrow. WHY?? If not to negotiate his contract. Its certainly not to tell him Jameis is not coming back.

  32. Stevebobucsfan Says:

As for Brady, if the Bucs are looking at Brady, they better make damn sure the OL player better than it has the past 5 years because Brady don’t move so well and when he do it’s not good and make sure they have a capable backup because Brady is damn near a half of 100

  33. AtlBUCS Says:

Jameis is gonna be the first QB to throw for 6G in a season and I want him to do it for the Bucs

  34. Robert Says:

because Drew is freaking out……as is JW….pupupupleeeeeease give me 27 mill, I promise I won’t turn it over and I can now see the scoreboard.

oh, and I been playing madden a LOT and know how to read the defenses now!

    BA—-*cough* bull$$it…..under his breath

  35. AtlBUCS Says:

Not true. The Bucs didn’t meet with Mccoys agent last year.

  36. Mike Johnson Says:

Wrong move for the Bucs. They sign Brady and they will regret after..He bamboozles millions from them on the injury list. Mark my words.

  37. MTM Says:

Brady ain’t coming to Tampa. It would be awesome but I don’t see Brady ending his career with the Glazers and Licht. There is just too much stupid in that organization for Brady to tolerant.

  38. Aaron Says:

It would energize the fan base, but just don’t see him going to a small market. I think the Rams trade Goff and TB goes there…

  39. Cgmaster27 Says:

Robert on here tooting his horn like the bucs just signed brady. Ofcourse the Bucs are looking at brady genius. Every team is. But unless they open the vault for him, hes not coming here. To me this just says brady is the guy we want or its Jameis.

  40. Jean Lafitte Says:

    They’ve already settled on JW

  41. Stanglassman Says:

Atlbucs- Thank you for the summery. I didn’t see the interview and the article was misleading if you hadn’t seen the interview yourself. From those quotes it does sound like they’re going to do their due diligence on other Qbs but most of this is just contract Posturing.

  42. firethecannons Says:

get Tom Brady and Jack Conklin or Mekhi Becton and a guard and get a running game–get a decent running back to pair up with Rojo. Wear the creamsicles while were at it. Lol!

  43. Buczilla Says:

I don’t believe anything that NFL folks say this time of year. You’ll give yourself a headache if you try to interpret what the true meaning is behind all of their bs. Best that you just wait patiently for the decisions to be made. 😜

  44. Pit of Misery Says:

    What MTM said…. and agree

  45. Jimmy Says:

Tom Brady and a rookie for him to mentor. I can’t think of a more ideal situation.

  46. Brandon Davidson Says:

To the people who want to draft eason watch his tape he is way more inconsistent then Jameis ever was we will deal with the same problems as Winston t.o. wise with less productive play from eason or love plus
fromm beat eason and Justin fields out for the job at Georgia hopefully we make fromm our qb of the future !!! Used to be a Jamie’s supporter but you can’t fix some 1 who doesn’t think he is making mistakes he’s balling no your barely breaking even I would of kept the faith if not for that comment that 1 killed me though not to mention fromm ran pro style offense made checks and play calls has top notch accuracy and if it’s not there he knows sometimes it’s just better to throw it away and for any QB who can throw a frozen rope on the money 30 yrd out route can make any throw besides possibly a 80 yd mahommes bomb
