When Vita Vea Plays “The Joker”

February 23rd, 2021

Beware Vita Vea going evil villain.

Bucs tight end Rob Gronkowski likes to laugh when he blocks because he’s having such a good time.

Former Bucco Bruce Arians receiver Hines Ward used to laugh when he blocked people and it was usually after he pancaked an unassuming corner.

But when Bucs defensive tackle Vita Vea is laughing on the football field, look out! It means you done p!ssed him off and beastly Vea is not a guy you want to toy with.

Vea is one of the most chill Bucs players. Sort of like Tristan Wirfs. But sometimes Vea, who used to lift boulders for recreation, can get hacked off if opposing offensive linemen try shady or dirty stuff on him.

And then the mild-mannered Vea turns into the Incredible Hulk with a laugh like “The Joker” of Batman fame. Linemen opposite him pay a dear price. Sort of like, don’t poke the bear.

Vea explained how he polices offensive linemen while appearing on “The Pat McAfee Show” yesterday.

“Most of the time I am doing my job,” Vea said. “And I’m being aggressive out there and trying to move guys around. I think most of the time the way I handle [shady play], I think of myself like ‘The Joker.’ How he laughs when Batman punches him and he laughs.

“So if I am getting double-teamed I will just be laughing. And it is funny to me because these two dudes, they are doubling me and they can’t move me but I am messing with their heads because I am laughing.”

As much as Joe wants Bucs sack king Shaq Barrett back, to Joe, it was clear in the playoffs when Vea returned from his broken ankle, that offensive lines simply could not handle Jason Pierre-Paul, Ndamukong Suh, Shaq and Vea at the same time. And Shaq and Vea went nuts.

In the win over the Packers in the NFC Championship game, Vea just ragdolled Pro Bowl center Corey Linsley. Shaq took full advantage by sacking Aaron Rodgers three times and getting in his head.

Vea is just a beast.

Derwin James? Joe’s @ss!

You can see Vea talk about going “Joker” on people in the video below.

My favorite was the Suh “Big girl” segment haha. Also Suh getting Vita a Rasputia (from norbit) doll for Christmas with Vita’s face photoshopped on to it. That was great!

Who’s with TBBF on this?……Let’s keep our defense together….with the certain development of the secondary and a couple of draft picks for depth, we will be really strong.

My thoughts are that the Offense will be OK….returning are Brady, Rojo, Vaughn, Evans, Johnson, Miller, OJ, Brate and the entire Oline….Smith, Marpet, Jensen, Cappa & Wirfs..
Maybe keep AB…..draft a player or pick up a cheap vet…still strong enough to score 30 especially if the defense is solid.

Next season, it would be cool to have Vea miked up for games. He is a man child in the promised land. Just thinking about hearing the collision 💥 of the trenches excited me

    Forgot Gronk….must have….

Picked up on norbit joke too at boat parade. Classic stuff

Thank goodness we have vea as first round pick for 5 years
Bucs need to let him miss practice next year. Give him the joey galloway treatment. We need him healthy
    ——-
Remember the movie “the blindside”…when he takes his opponent and pushes him off the field , over the fence and into trash i think

That was vea in that packers game.

And he played chiefs well too.

Hey Joe(s), any chance we could get a comment section where we could reply to one another directly? There’s been lots of times I wanted to respond to one particular comment, only to have to scroll down considerably, never knowing if my post was read by my intended fellow commenter. Just a suggestion.

  9. Bird Says:

How many guys can take on 2 guys and push them back in nfl?

    Vea is a freak

Another jason licht special. I think we moved back in draft and got him ? Right?

The Derwin James debate is done. The only question now on Derwin James is whether he will ever play another full season.

My over under for Derwin is 49 NFL games through the rest of his career.
    Great move GM.

But but we don’t know football where not real football fans. He’s just a 2-down run stuffer 😂. Some of these commenters here with their amazing wisdom and analysis I swear smh.

    Sounds good in theory… but

OJ rarely plays 16 and not Always stellar

Miller plays what? 4-5 plays a game, deep shots at that… jet sweet damn sure don’t work.

AB more than likely facing some kind of suspension.

I love Rojo but they sit him every time he gets his feelings hurt..

That leaves An in proven Vaughn, with Johnson as your #2.

    I know youngbucs it’s great.

Also a lot of frequent posters seem to have left in the last month….Where did they all go?

  14. August 1976 Buc Says:

I will say it again, I can remember when Dirk Koetter was talking about Vita lifting 300 pound men with 1 arm. Yes 300 pound men being lifted with 1 arm by Vita. We all see that he and Suh are critical for how the 3-4 Defense is run by Bowels, to gobble up blockers and collapse the pocket and use the LBs to get the pressure. And Vita and Suh are historically good against the run, the 4th best since 1970, and the best in recent memory. So all this talk about without Vita ,Shaq this and Shaq that. Of Course it is this way, because that is how Bowels runs his 3-4 defense. This front 7 is the best in football, keep it intact. Team Work made the dream work. GO BUCS!!!!!

Hell yes! Those who wanted Derwin James just don’t know games are won in the trenches and great defense beats great offense. Oakland ’02. KC ’21.
    This is the way.

    This is the way.

  17. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

I never watched him enough to understand how much of an impact player this guy is. Gotta see another season of this front 7, they’re well worth the price of admission.

  18. Will Says:

I’m happy Vea made it back. Dude is a game changer along that line. I’m not sure about the kid we drafted late from Nebraska but if he turns into something we’ll have some nice pieces. FA is huge keeping this defense together and finding some guys to learn from the vets in the draft will have this defense set for a few years. I think Vea has silenced the Derwin James crowd and we ended up with Antoine Winfield Jr. The future is looking bright for our beloved Bucs.

  19. Ben the GA Buc Says:

I picked up the same shirt Vita is wearing in that vid. Cool.

  20. Miller5252 Says:

One of the best things for Vita is having Suh help show him how to do things. Just like his chef…. keep him eating right so he could be ready for the final push. Good blend of veterans and young talent. I still remember my brother saying he got sideline passes for UW game and said he got to see Vea up close… said you won’t believe the size of this guy and how he was just playing with people trying to block him.
