Bruce Arians: Careful, Mr. Young

January 4th, 2021

Responds to Chase Young.

Redskins terror defensive end Chase Young was caught on the NFL’s Tik Tok video account hollering for park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

Young and the Redskins set themselves a date with Brady and the Bucs after beating the Eagles last night on Sunday Night Football.

(With the loss, the Eagles have the No. 6 overall pick instead of the No. 9 pick. And stop it, you self-anointed moralists working in the Fourth Estate along the eastern seaboard. Not only is this hardly the first time a team tanked — hi, Lovie! — it’s righteous for the Eagles to tank as it is for all teams not in the playoffs. It is both immoral and a slap in the face to fans and team employees for a team not to tank. You either play for the playoffs or you play for the draft.)

Arians was asked what he thought of Young barking for Brady after the game.

“He’s a hell of a player,” Arians said of Young. “Obviously, making him a captain as a rookie speaks volumes. … He’s a handful, but so is [Montez] Sweat, [Daron] Payne, the rest of those guys. Ryan Kerrigan – I’ve had a ton of respect for [him] for a long time.

“We’ll have our hands full, but it’s one of those games where you better watch what you wish for.”

The way Joe looks at it, if the Bucs can take out Aaron Donald, the best defensive lineman in the game, they should find a way to contain Young.

The task is steep and difficult, no doubt. So Joe has one question:

Donovan Smith, are you up to the task? The nation will be watching.

In 1997 Warren Sapp nearly, by himself, won that game in Green Bay… but Sapp was already in his 3rd year and a star player and Favre was a peer who was only a couple of years older than he was.

Chase Young had 6.5 sacks going into last nights game, or 3.5 more than Winfield.

I have zero issues with players talking trash, but man, you talk trash to the wrong guys you’re going to get your teeth busted in. Tom Brady is that guy. I hope more Redskins run their mouth, it should seal their fate.

  2. TOM EDRINGTON Says:

Beware of a battle with someone who has nothing to lose……that being said, I’d line up a tight end next to Donovan to help out on that guy….

  3. bucfanforever Says:

    1 second
    2 seconds
ball is on its way downfield to Gronk and Crew
Young is pulling up to avoid Roughing the Passer.
    1st and 10 Bucs.

  4. Robert Says:

I could care less what his name is, my worry is D Smith taking a day off…….no matter who the guy is.

This is one where I think they should run the ball, simply because of the rest of their front 4……..but please baby jesus, don’t run it up the gut on 1st down every time. (it seems they’ve learned better though)

  5. University of Seffner Says:

Well Washington knows how to play Dungy Ball (All Defense, very conservative Offense, and kick a lot of field goals)

  6. Joe in Michigan Says:

If by Chase Young running his mouth it fires up Donovan Smith, then great. I highly doubt that happens, though. If by Chase Young running his mouth it makes the Bucs come up with a great game plan to stop him, then great. We’ll see.

  7. David Says:

I think the question is, is the rest of the line up to the task going one on one, because Donovan will probably get a RB or TE helping most the time

  8. Jerry Jones Says:

As soon as Jameis Winston loses his jockstrap this no knowledge idiot Robert starts commenting, coincidence, I think not.

  9. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Well, defensive end Chase Young is good, but he is no Aaron Donald, and we handled him.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Sorry, but I just can’t help it…

If Chase Young was a Republican, it’s likely the Washington Post would clam he was in violation of communicating a threat to Tom Brady.

As far as tanking for draft picks….that is something easily fixed…..the NFL should have a draft lottery….
    Teams 1-8, 9-16, 17-24, 25-32

That way the incentive to tank would, for the most part, be gone.

  11. theodore Says:

Not sure why all the Donovan Smith hate, he has never once played a bad playoff game.

  12. pewter941 Says:

    I like Wirs against Young

  13. bucfanforever Says:

46 Sacks for the season – WFT’s defense
48 Sacks for the season – Buc’s defense

    22 Sacks Allowed – Buc’s Offense
50 Sacks Allowed – WFT Offense

Advantage: Bucs (..and that is the most favorable thing WFT has to offer)

    OFFENSIVE LINE OF THE WEEK
    Tampa Bay Buccaneers
There were a handful of the 32 offensive lines that were a routine contender for PFF OL of the Week this season, and Tampa was one of them. This past week, they were the only group to finish top five in both pass- and run-blocking grade, and rookie right tackle Tristan Wirfs put together yet another great outing. The 13th-overall pick lost just one of his 46 pass-block snaps, and that is quite impressive considering he played the fifth-most true pass sets. Really everyone on the line performed incredibly well in pass-protection, combining allowed just two pressures on the day, both of which weren’t a sack or hit on Tom Brady.

  15. Joe in Michigan Says:

    Theodore: Hahaha, true.

  16. Listnfrmafar Says:

Brady has heard it all before. I doubt he’s intimidated. Sure they may get to him a few times but that doesn’t mean they keep Bucs off scoreboard. Gronk is a great blocker probably best blocking TE in league, double team and chip him when going out for a pass. Anyone can talk very few can back it up.

  17. Rod Munch Says:

There are actually people who say Washington Football Team in a non-sarcastic way? Wow, that is truly embarrassing.

If I ran the world, anyone saying that would be force fed ebola. Unfortunately I have no power to make that happen. 🙁

  18. Mitch Says:

Wirfs went up against Cam Jordan twice, Bosa, Mack, Zadarious Smith, Bradley Chubb, Michael Brockers, Aaron Donald (they lined him on the rookie the first half), Chris Jones… and only gave up 1 sack all season long. I am confident if we use our two TE sets to max protect and play action all day the offense will roll.

  19. Robert Says:

    all up in jerry’s dome…lol

  20. Lamarcus Guiton Says:

I just hope we win and get revenge for what they did to our team 12 years ago. Its fitting we play them again in 1st round playoff game and get what we deserved 12 years ago.

  21. HeyItsAdam Says:

I have always been big on taking advantage of the opportunities you get to shut up you’re the tractors. This game is a golden opportunity for Donovan Smith.

  22. HeyItsAdam Says:

🚨🚨🚨My post above is riddled with embarrassing Siri misinterpretations. Forgive the double-post, I just don’t want people to think I’m drunk or something🚨🚨🚨

I have always been big on taking advantage of the opportunities you get to shut up your detractors. This game is a golden opportunity for Donovan Smith.

  23. Nick2 Says:

I have always thought Donovan Smith is competent definitely not elite and he definitely has those head scratching games where you wonder where his mind or talent was at (i.e. Saints game this year where he got trounced by a backup) that being said Saturday night would be a huge accomplishment to show that he is elite talent if he can shut down Chase Daniels and propel us further into the playoffs. I do think he comes to play when he has been called out (Chase Young just did that.)

  24. Show Me the TDs Says:

I live in Northern Virginia with a bunch of Redskins fans. Young is a good pass rusher, but his run stopping abilities are most impressive. He comes down the line, quickly. That’s where we need to stop him. Misdirection or a pulling guard in the face.

  25. SlyPirate Says:

Smith can handle the Young’ns. Wirfs, no Sweat. Marpet feels no Payne.

  26. mickman Says:

Please! The guys is a rookie talking trash knowing they stink. Really have to be hard up to make a rookie captain of the defense, truly have no leadership. If they are taking direction from this rookie perhaps that is what they only won 7 games.

  27. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

If I was BA I would not be provoking Young …
keep it in One Buc Place

  28. HeyItsAdam Says:

If “Redskins” was so offensive, I suggest “Washington Casino-Owning Americans.”

  29. Buc Bro Says:

Is this the same Rookie who had zero sacks against playoff teams this year?

Is this the same defense that allowed over 30 points per game to 4 teams in a row?

Is this the same defense that got lit up for 30 points by the hapless Lions?

Let’s stop acting like they are the 85 Bears, they are a 7-9 team, step on their throats on the way to the 2nd round.

  30. TSmitty300 Says:

I have beef with what Young said. This maybe his only chance to sack Brady. Actually, the key is the Bucs interior continuing their great play against Payne and Allen(ROLL TIDE)

  31. Tampabay Allday Says:

    I’m so excited Bucs fam

  32. Pewter Power Says:

What is with these young players who have done nothing calling out Tom Brady? Reminds me of the big mouth big talk Jalen Ramsey all over again.

  33. Oneilbucs Says:

I like players like that we need players like that on this team that’s been the reason why we been losing all these years . So let that young brother have his fun . He has the right to feel that way just like yall have the right to feel how you feel about Brady or anyone else on the team . He just have to back it up that’s all .

  34. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

    What is Ndog thinking?

  35. Oneilbucs Says:

We should kill this team even if he has a good game that ain’t going to change the outcome of the game .

  36. ModHairKen Says:

Channel whatever it was when you hit Marcus Peters after he picked Jameis

  37. Listnfrmafar Says:

BA avoid the noise and stay focused. Cause if you don’t how do you expect your team to stay focused. Jawing with a rookie, not a good look!

  38. adam from ny Says:

    washington started out:

    2-7

    and finished up:

    5-2

    season record of:

    7-9

let’s hope they didn’t turn a corner in the second half of the season

  39. Colin in Canada Says:

We’ll prob use Gronk as an extra blocker against the DEs this week. Pass pro should be the priority. The Bucs 2 and 3 receiver play action passes have been really good lately.

  40. stpetebucsfan Says:

As for tanking…sorry Joe have you considered all the tanking situations.

Primarily what happens when two 1-14 teams play the last game of the season with the worst records and BOTH OF THEM TRY TO TANK.

How ugly would that get? Could be humorous watching two teams motivated to LOSE.

Sorry Joe I just do not see the value in jumping up a few spots in the draft. After all look how well Lovies tank did for us!!!! BTW there were two QB’s that draft and neither of them have lived up to their high picks. IE We needed a QB and the top two were not the answer.

  41. Beeej Says:

Washington has 4 REALLY good players, and all 4 are on defensive line

  42. sauron's eye Says:

Chase Young is a talented dickhead. I give coach Rivera huge props for making the playoffs in his first season with this dumpster fire team but I hope he loses this week.

  43. Reddington Neck Shores Says:

Yeah great to tank. That’s what we call professional. Give me a break. If a team tanks take 1/8 off the season ticket price and 1/16 off the tv revenue. Guess who stops tanking then. We don’t all pay out the nose for crap football. That’s what modern bowl games are for.

  44. Scooter Says:

    Brady( 11w-5losses) , Belechick( 7w-9losses).

  45. Mitch Says:

If the Bucs can contain the D-line I really believe the Bucs can blow them out. The football teams best win was against the Steelers on a night when they were beaten up tired, and their offense became anemic. All six of their other wins came against teams that have gone a combined 19-41-2 ( Dallas and Eagles twice). I am cautious but the football team kind of reminds me of a Raiders quality (with a pass rush). I am hopeful the Bucs can run away with this one. Go Bucs!!

  46. REDZONE BA Says:

Rookie mistake by Chase Young – Donovan will be ready. Question is: Who do we play in the second playoff game?

  47. bucyou Says:

haskins was a captain as well…

  48. REDZONE BA Says:

Second playoff game —If we play Rams – good, since we held Aaron Donald in check, and only lost by 3pts. Jared Goff is hampered. We should outscore Rams easily.

If Seahawks – our last QB put up 30 pts on them so expect that Brady will top that.

    Neither team scares me.

Then on the either Packers or Saints.

  49. Warrenfb12 Says:

Great, we are relying on Donovan Smith (gulp)

  50. BA4President Says:

    Who are the “Redskins”?

If you refuse to give your team a nickname, then you don’t deserve to be called “Washington” or the old nickname in situations where teams are identified by their nickname.

“The Bucs are going to destroy the Football Team.” – That sounds stupid, and it should sound stupid because it was a stupid decision to not have a nickname like every NFL team has had in modern history.

  51. REDZONE BA Says:

Wirfs will be ready, too, for Mr. Young.

  52. REDZONE BA Says:

@BAforPresident — I appreciate your post. Time to stop using racial slurs in sports. As for blame for using Washington Football Team (WFT) as moniker in interim of a nickname – blame Snyder, who is an elitist owner with major racist and misogynist issues who is reluctant to find a new nickname. I so hope Snyder gets voted off the owner island. ASAFP.

  53. BA4President Says:

    Thank you Redzone BA.

And regardless of whether or not people agree on Washington changing from their previous name, I think everyone should agree that “Football Team” is stupid AF, so we should make an effort to hide what their nickname is.

  54. JayWill Says:

    That dline is no joke.

  55. REDZONE BA Says:

@BA4President —- Hoorah – “football team” is absolutely dumb AF!

  56. D1 Says:

    Redzone,

Do you consider some of the other team’s who use “Indians”! as mascots to be racist, ex, Braves, Seminoles, UTES, Chiefs, etc?

Also, considering the the serious nature of your claims, do you know Dan Synder? Are you privy to his thoughts on the matter of race? How do you know He’s a racist?

Last, America has become tolerant of many people and beliefs, you seem to have an intolerance for tolerance. Is someone who you have labeled as racist to be treated with less, if not any , tolerance as an individual? If yes, then who is free to believe whatever they choose? Is there no tolerance for racism by an individual in these United States?

These are issues that are relevant in 2021 just interested to hear your thoughts, or any posters, on this subject.

  57. Ericb Says:

Team no name shouldn’t even be in the playoffs and its a joke they are and some rookie with a losing record is talkong trash ..hey chase sit down stfu rookie TB12 bout to come in your house and deal with you and you asked for this..at least its a short ride home

  58. Redskins Fan Says:

“A team with no leadership makes Chase Young Captain”

Haha, you realize our D is #2 in the NFL right?

You realize our D is #4 in points right?

  59. Chesapeake Bay Bucco Says:

How do you overcome a ferocious pass rush? Quick opener rushing attack between the tackles; quick slants; screen passes; play action; show some sets/motion that we have not been showing to date to create confusion/hesitation. And did I mention screen passes? Can be RB, TE, or even WR bubbles. Operative word is “quick.”

  60. REDZONE BA Says:

@D1 – As a fellow Bucs fan, I prefer to avoid battling social issues and differing opinions – where we will never agree – basically a net-zero sum argument.

I appreciate your response post; and will politely decline further debate on this JBF site.

I am curious about your opinion on WFT pass rush, and who we will play in second playoff game. Cool with that option, D1?

  61. scooter Says:

Suh gets into Aaron Rogers head.
